<br />
Fear not, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/dukes+of+hazzard/"><em>Dukes of Hazzard</em></a> fans, no one is going to mess with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general+lee/">General Lee</a>. After a forum post on <a href="http://www.hobbytalk.com/">HobbyTalk.com</a> indicated that Tomy Toys, manufacturer of all official <em>Dukes of Hazzard</em> merchandise, would no longer produce scale models of the show's famous <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/dodge/charger">1969 Dodge Charger</a> with its Confederate battle flag displayed on the roof, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/warner brothers">Warner Brothers</a> has issued a statement to the contrary. The original story reportedly came courtesy of an anonymous worker with Tomy Toys, who said the Stars and Bars livery would be excised from the models beginning on January 1, 2013.<br />
<br />
The news incited substantial fan backlash and even a lengthy editorial by Ben Jones, the actor who played Cooter on the classic TV show. But, in its statement, Warner Brothers cleared up the matter by saying, "We were not, and are not, planning to change the design of the General Lee on merchandise. All reports to the contrary have been inaccurate."<br />
<br />
American pop culture remains safe for another day.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/03/contrary-to-reports-dukes-of-hazzard-merchandise-not-hav/">Contrary to reports, <i>Dukes of Hazzard</i> merchandise not having Confederate flag removed?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 03 Sep 2012 16:01:00 EST. <br />
Yup. Someone has apparently taken it upon themselves to slather the slinkiest of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/alfa romeo">Alfa Romeo</a> models with the bright orange paint and stars and bars of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general lee">General Lee</a> from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/the dukes of hazzard"><em>The Dukes of Hazzard</em></a>. Why? Because if you have enough cash to park an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/8c competizione">8C Competizione</a> in your expansive garage, you can paint it in whatever livery you damn well please. Details are scarce, but our source says the coupe is real, and it rocks the appropriate "01" numbering on each door. We're hoping there's a horn capable of whistling Dixie under the hood as well, and we'll award bonus points if the doors are welded shut and there's a cage inside.<br />
<br />
We'd love to know who ordered up this particular color combination. Our source, John S., says this photo was clicked near Balocco in Northern Italy (presumably adjacent to Alfa's test track facility there), but for now, we'll just content ourselves by wondering how you say "Daisy Duke" in Italian.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/30/did-someone-really-order-this-alfa-romeo-8c-with-a-general-lee-p/">Did someone really order this Alfa Romeo 8C with a General Lee paint scheme?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 30 Jan 2012 11:30:00 EST. <br />
What's "the most famous television car in the world"? We suppose that depends on who you ask, but to many, nothing but the <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/general lee">General Lee</a> could possibly hold the title. Of course, there wasn't just one General Lee. In fact, scores of orange <a href="http://autoblog.com/dodge/charger">Dodge Chargers</a> were filmed for "The Dukes of Hazzard," and most of them never survived their first televised escapade.<br />
<br />
Not so <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/29/duke-boys-first-general-lee-goes-to-barrett-jackson-w-video/">Lee 1</a>, so named because it was the car that famously jumped over a Hazzard County police cruiser in the very first episode of the hit series. If you've ever seen the opening credits, you know the car we're talking about... it flew 16 feet in the air over a distance of 82 feet. And, as you may have guessed, it didn't exactly stick the landing.<br />
<br />
No matter. Because of its notoriety, Lee 1 was saved from destruction and restored over a period of 16 months. And, due to that same famous history, we thought it might draw plenty of attention from the crowds at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/barrett-jackson/">2012 Barrett-Jackson</a> auction. In reality, bidding ended at just $110,000. That makes the final sale price a seemingly paltry $121,000.<br />
<br />
Read more about Lee 1 and watch a video of it's auction <a href="/2012/01/21/barrett-jackson-2012-dukes-of-hazzard-1969-dodge-charger-genera/#continued">after the break</a>, and check out our live image gallery above.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/21/barrett-jackson-2012-dukes-of-hazzard-1969-dodge-charger-genera/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Barrett-Jackson 2012: Dukes of Hazzard 1969 Dodge Charger General Lee falls flat [UPDATE: w/video]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/21/barrett-jackson-2012-dukes-of-hazzard-1969-dodge-charger-genera/">Barrett-Jackson 2012: Dukes of Hazzard 1969 Dodge Charger General Lee falls flat [UPDATE: w/video]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 21 Jan 2012 22:00:00 EST. <br />
A Houston, Texas, man is likely out of his freedom and his <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/General%20Lee%20Charger/">General Lee</a>-style <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/dodge/charger/">Dodge Charger</a> following a police chase. According to news reports from Houston, police clocked the man going 120 mph on a city freeway.<br />
<br />
To catch him, police had to run his plate through their database, which led them to his apartment. When the cops showed up, the guy was taking a shower as if everything was normal.<br />
<br />
Evading the police at 120 mph is something the Duke Boys' Charger is likely used to. This time, though, the big orange Dodge's owner was hauling marijuana, not moonshine. It's been impounded, and charges are pending.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/14/houston-police-catch-man-in-dukes-of-hazzard-style-charger-aft/">Houston police catch man in "Dukes of Hazzard" style Charger after high-speed chase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 14 Jan 2012 08:28:00 EST. <br />
The very first <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general lee">1969 Dodge Charger General Lee</a> from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/the dukes of hazzard">"The Dukes of Hazzard"</a> is headed under the gavel at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/barret-jackson">Barret-Jackson</a>. The vehicle was created specifically for the show's intro and made just one jump before being retired.<br />
<br />
Why the short life span? That first leap was an impressive feat, vaulting the Charger 16 feet in the air over a distance of 82 feet as it sailed over Rosco's Monaco patrol car before crashing back down to Earth. While the vehicle made a few additional appearances as a beat-up hulk through the show's filming, it was eventually left to rot in a Georgia junk yard.<br />
<br />
Travis Bell bought the hulk in 2001, and the Charger swapped a few owners before winding up in the hands of Marvin Murphy. Murphy then had the vehicle restored to its former glory. Now the Lee 1 is headed to Arizona with no reserve. No one's saying exactly how much the very first General Lee could be worth, but a Hemi-powered replica took home a lofty $450,000 in 2008. This particular vehicle gets its grunt from a 383.<br />
<br />
If you'd like to see this car's fateful lone jump - or if you're just feeling the need for some Duke Boys-style nostalgia - <a href="/2011/12/29/duke-boys-first-general-lee-goes-to-barrett-jackson-w-video/#continued"> hit the jump</a> to see the vehicle in the show's intro.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/29/duke-boys-first-general-lee-goes-to-barrett-jackson-w-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Duke Boys' first General Lee goes to Barrett-Jackson [w/video]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/29/duke-boys-first-general-lee-goes-to-barrett-jackson-w-video/">Duke Boys' first General Lee goes to Barrett-Jackson [w/video]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 29 Dec 2011 17:59:00 EST. <br />
You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from <em>The Dukes of Hazzard</em> and the Pontiac Trans Am from <em>Smokey and the Bandit</em>. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.<br />
<br />
The folks at <em>Hot Rod</em> magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. <a href="/2011/08/26/general-lee-takes-on-bandit-t-a-in-classic-hollywood-car-showdow/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.<br />
<br />
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.<br />

Owning a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general+lee/">"General Lee" Dodge Charger</a> replica can be a lot of fun. You might even be tempted to jump things to the delight of assembled crowds. We'd advise against that, and we have video to back up our position. <br />
Jalen Rose, former NBA player and member of Michigan's Fab Five, is looking to help out a charitable organization founded in his name. It's called the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, and it's a preparatory school for students in grades 9-12, located in Detroit. The JRLA is slated to open in September of 2011, and 120 students will enter the halls as ninth graders. Rose has chosen to offer up his <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general+lee">1969 Dodge Charger General Lee</a> at auction, and all of the proceeds will be put towards the new school.<br />
<br />
Rose took the liberty of making a few changes to this particular car. The Confederate flag has been removed from the roof and the numbers on the doors have been changed to show "05" in honor of Rose's playing number.<br />
<br />
This is not simply a <em><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/dukes+of+hazzard">Dukes of Hazzard</a></em> replica, however, as this Charger is one of the few surviving cars used during filming of the television show. Jalen Rose's signature can be found under the hood, along with the John Hancock of Bo Duke himself, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/john+schneider">John Schneider</a>.<br />
<br />
The auction will get underway on May 23rd, and the car will be listed with an opening bid of $45,000. This is a no-reserve auction with the proceeds going to a good cause, so pegging the final hammer price is rather tricky. <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=130516314492+&amp;viewitem=#v4-33" target="_blank">Head over to the eBay Motors listing</a> for more information on both the car and Jalen Rose Leadership Academy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/12/jalen-rose-offers-up-his-1969-dodge-charger-general-lee-for-char/">Jalen Rose offers up his 1969 Dodge Charger General Lee for charity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 12 May 2011 20:00:00 EST. <br />
When the folks at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/inside+line">Inside Line</a> got their hands on a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2011+Dodge+charger">2011 Dodge Charger R/T</a>, they decided to run a comparison test against an older Charger. No, not a last generation model - a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general+lee">1969 General Lee</a> that was actually used on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/dukes+of+hazzard"><em>Dukes of Hazzard</em></a> TV show.<br />
<br />
The bright orange Charger was supplied by Bob Hartwig of Cinema Vehicle Services. It's one of only 17 Chargers to survive filming, and it's the only 440-equipped example to make it out unscathed. It's slower, less agile and quite outdated compared to the modern Charger, but that doesn't stop Inside Line from giving in the gold medal in this comparison.<br />

The General Lee soared into our hearts 32 years ago today - Click above to watch video <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/11/on-this-day-in-history-general-lee-makes-iconic-jump-w-video/#continued">after the jump</a></small></strong></em></div>
<p>On this very day in 1978, a stunt man on the set of new show called <em><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/dukes+of+hazzard">The Dukes of Hazzard</a></em> made television history. Of course, he didn't know it at the time, but the sight of him soaring through the air would become an icon. Well... not <em>him</em> specifically, but the car he was driving. We can only imagine what that bright orange <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/dodge/charger">Dodge Charger</a> sounded like as it roared to the dirt ramp before leaving the ground and touching down 82 feet later. It was totaled upon impact, but its legacy is still going strong three decades later. <br />
<br />
The show debuted in 1979 and ran for 6 years. During that time, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general+lee">General Lee</a> (yes, the car) received 35,000 fan letters every single month. More than 300 Chargers were used over the course of the show, and most of them ended up trashed.<br />
<br />
As you read these words, we know you can hear the first few plucks Waylon Jenning's guitar and picture the Duke boys evading capture to make their way the only way they know how. Stop imagining it and check out the video of the show's intro <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/11/on-this-day-in-history-general-lee-makes-iconic-jump-w-video/#continued">after the jump</a>. <br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/local+motors/">Local Motors</a> hasn't generated a whole lot of publicity since it debuted its crowd-sourced <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/local+motors+rally+fighter/">Rally Fighter</a> off-road coupe at last year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/sema/">SEMA show</a>, but that doesn't mean the small-scale, forward-thinking builder hasn't been busy. We haven't managed to convince them to hand over the keys to one of their lunar buggies just yet, so we're still patiently waiting in line to get behind the wheel. Who wouldn't want to drive a giant 3,100-pound dune buggy with a fighter-plane-inspired sports coupe body and a torquey <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw/">BMW</a> diesel under the hood?<br />
<br />
When we finally do get to drive this fun and funky beast, we promise not to paint it orange or to put a big "01" on the doors or even a Confederate flag on the roof. We can't promise, however, that we won't try our best to replicate this Bo and Luke-worthy stunt. The company has sent along a video to show that the Rally Fighter does indeed have off-roading chops, in case you doubted it after their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/12/video-local-motors-rally-fighter-getting-down-and-dirty/">previous nine-minute video release</a>. So check out the short clip <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/15/video-local-motors-rally-fighter-channels-its-inner-general-lee/">after the jump</a> and turn your sound up so you too can hear John Fogerty while it spools up and Waylon Jennings wailin' while the Rally Fighter soars.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Volo Auto Museum collection at Chicago Auto Show - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> One of the most fun parts of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chicago-auto-show/">Chicago Auto Show</a> every year is that Illinois is also host to the <a href="http://volocars.com/">Volo Auto Museum</a>. Volo is one of those museum/used car dealerships that always has some of the most entertaining and outrageous cars in its inventory. One of the things they are best known for is their collection of rolling Hollywood memorabilia, and at this year's show, they have rolled out about a dozen vehicles that show off their range of Tinseltown metal.<br /> <br /> First up is the Mellow Yellow NASCAR racer that Tom Cruise piloted in <em>Days of Thunder</em>. They even have a monitor running movie clips featuring Cole Trickle beside the very seat he sat in for the filming - and no, it wasn't a booster seat. Next to that is Speed Racer's Mach 5, signed by Kustom Kar King George Barris. That sits alongside one of the General Lee Dodge Chargers from the <em>Dukes of Hazzard</em> movie and a really odd Buick Grand National. The GN is one of the cars that Vin Diesel drove in <em>Fast and Furious 4</em>. It is totally gutted inside and has a wild rear steering system that made us do a double-take.<br /> <br /> Across from that is the villain car from <em>The Great Race</em> and the awesomely wacky Turtle Mobile from the <em>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles</em> movie. Our favorite star car, though - and the one that looks most at home here in Chicago - is the Blues Mobile, driven by one Joliet Jake and one Elwood Blues, a.k.a. "The Blues Brothers." It even has the comically oversized loudspeaker still strapped to the roof. All-in, the Volo display is fun attraction here in Chicago and an example of why this show is always so popular with the public.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volo-museum-hollywood-cars-at-chicago-auto-show">Volo Museum Hollywood cars at Chicago Auto Show</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volo-museum-hollywood-cars-at-chicago-auto-show/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/02/volohollywoodcars---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volo-museum-hollywood-cars-at-chicago-auto-show/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/02/volohollywoodcars---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volo-museum-hollywood-cars-at-chicago-auto-show/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/02/volohollywoodcars---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volo-museum-hollywood-cars-at-chicago-auto-show/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/02/volohollywoodcars---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volo-museum-hollywood-cars-at-chicago-auto-show/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/02/volohollywoodcars---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <strong><em><small>Live photos copyright (C)2010 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</small></em></strong><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/11/chicago-2010-volo-shines-the-light-on-some-famous-movie-cars/">Chicago 2010: Volo shines the light on some famous movie cars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 11 Feb 2010 14:30:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><em>Click above for high-res gallery of the Charger Coupe</em></strong><br /></div>
</small> <br />We had heard rumors that there was going to be a Dodge Charger Coupe at SEMA this year. We had hoped it would be something like the Charger show car from several years ago, the black one that looked a lot like the bad guy's car in Bullitt. In fact, that car was supposed to be made and shown at SEMA, but we never tracked it down. What we did find was probably just as good. If it wasn't going to be black, it might as well have been orange, and orange it was. Orange with a black confederate flag on the roof and a big "01" on the doors. Yep, it was the General Lee. In a year when we saw a Fast and Furious real Charger, a Bullitt movie Mustang, the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, and a smart fortwo that had made a trip to the Batcave, it was probably inevitable that we would find the General amidst all of the Challengers and other MOPARS on display. Not that we're complaining or anything.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe">SEMA 2008: General Lee Charger Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-general-lee-charger-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/dukeschargercoupe---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/08/sema-2008-charger-coupe-shows-up-in-general-lee-trim/">SEMA 2008: Charger Coupe shows up in General Lee trim</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 08 Nov 2008 19:06:00 EST. Jeep CJ-7s are super iconic, and they represent the pinnacle of AMC's stewardship of the brand. Though the Dukes of Hazzard itself was no Citizen Kane, every kid of that era has indelible images of an orange Charger flying through the air etched in their memories. Again, General Lee: cool. Put them together; ignoring the fact that a proper "Dukes"-themed CJ would mirror the Golden Eagle edition that appeared in the show; and you have created that which should never be. The "01" treatment has been applied to some very odd vehicles the world over, though, so we suppose that a General Lee-themed CJ isn't so bad in the long run. At least both elements appeared in the original show...<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-cj7">General Lee CJ7</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-cj7/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/cj_01_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-cj7/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/cj_01_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2008/10/02/hazzard-rule-no-346-a-cj-7-cannot-be-the-general-lee/">Hemmings</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/05/jeep-cj-7-turned-general-lee-violates-natural-order-of-things/">Jeep CJ-7 turned General Lee violates natural order of things</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 05 Oct 2008 12:59:00 EST. Well, we've got good news for you then, as <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=119349">LEE 1</a> is scheduled to appear in the April issue of <a href="http://www.dupontregistry.com/">DuPont Registry</a> with an as-yet unknown price tag attached. If you're not familiar with LEE 1, this is the car that was used for the police car jump from the Dukes of Hazzard <a href="http://www.tv-intros.com/d/dukes%20of%20hazzard%20-%20intro%20-%20vcd1.wmv">opening credits</a> (.wmv link). This car also appeared in the very first episode of the now iconic television series and in the fourth episode, although not as the General Lee in that instance. After languishing in a scrap yard for 23 years, Travis Bell and the rest of "Team LEE 1", as they call themselves, rescued the car star and restored the General to its "pre-jump" condition. </p>
<p>If you are interested in knowing more about LEE 1, check out the official <a href="http://www.generalleeenterprises.com/">General Lee Enterprises</a> website and keep your eye out for April's issue of the <a href="http://www.dupontregistry.com/">DuPont Registry</a> if you dream of making the General your own.</p>

The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/04/holy-john-schneiders-general-lee-sold-for-nearly-10-mil/">first attempt</a> to sell the General Lee on eBay resulted in a winning bid of nearly $10 million, which later <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/09/big-surprise-winner-of-general-lee-auction-backs-out-on-10-mil/">fell through</a>. The winning bidder, William Fisher, claimed to CNN in an email that his eBay account had been hacked and the exhoribitant bid was placed without his knowledge, though eBay claims there is no evidence his account was illegally accessed.The second auction on eBay required that bidders be heavily screened before making a bid, which resulted in only one legitimate bid of $100,000 that failed meet Schneider's reserve price. <br /><br />Perhaps realizing that eBay Motors isn't the most appropriate place to sell his iconic car, CNN is reporting that Schneider will now put the car up for auction on the biggest block in the world at the 2008 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona next January. We'll be in Scottsdale like we were <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=scottsdale">this year</a>, though we're starting to wonder if the General Lee will ever find a new home. <br /><br />Thanks for the tip, Peter!<br /><br />[Source: CNN]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-charger">General Lee Charger</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-charger/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/d51b_3.jpg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-charger/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/1906_3.jpg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-charger/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/da28_3.jpg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-charger/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/e0be_3.jpg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-charger/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/c87b_3.jpg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/31/general-lee-goes-unsold-on-ebay-again-off-to-barrett-jackson-in/">General Lee goes unsold on eBay again, off to Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 31 May 2007 13:52:00 EST. Its simple tagline - Paper Models are Paper Inside - hints at what you'll find below the fold. The site offers numerous free downloads of paper models that arrive in your printer tray as 2D sheets awaiting entry into the third dimension. We chose the <a href="http://www.paperinside.com/ecto-1">Ecto 1 model</a> to highlight above because it's pretty intricate, but you'll also find the <a href="http://www.paperinside.com/delorean">DeLorean</a> from <em>Back to the Future</em>, the <a href="http://paperinside.com/2006/11/29/the-amazing-general-lee/">General Lee</a>, Speed Racer's <a href="http://www.paperinside.com/mach-5">Mach-5</a>, <a href="http://paperinside.com/batman/tumbler/">the Tumbler</a> from <em>Batman Begins</em>, <a href="http://paperinside.com/madmax/">Mad Max's Interceptor</a> and a <a href="http://paperinside.com/2007/03/08/new-model-2007-mclaren-mp4-22/">McLaren MP4-22 race car</a>. That's not to mention the numerous crafts from Star Wars and Start Trek that are also available. If you poke around, you'll also find links out to other paper model sites where even more vehicles are available. <br /><br />We downloaded a few models in PDF, and were immediately stumped. The assembly instructions for most consist of dozens of pictures, each lacking any verbiage save for the name of a particular paper piece and an arrow showing where it goes. We'll sit down soon with a pair of child-proof scissors and see if we can't crank one out, but we expect this project will quickly turn into a contest of whose paper airplane can fly the farthest. <br /><br />[Source: Paper Inside via Autoblog Latino]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/24/model-cars-made-entirely-out-of-paper/">Model cars made entirely out of paper</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 24 May 2007 20:03:00 EST. After it was revealed that the incredible winning bid of $9,900,500 for John Schneider's original 1969 Dodge Charger "General Lee" was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/09/big-surprise-winner-of-general-lee-auction-backs-out-on-10-mil/">a dud</a>, "Bo Duke" himself has relisted the car on eBay with a <strike>$1,000,000</strike> $100,000 starting bid. This time, bidders have to preregister with Auction Wire, an online auction agency, before they can make a play for the car. <br /><br />Amidst the media buzz surrounding Schneider's first failed auction for his General Lee, we learned that auctionistas actually valued the car somewhere around $200,000 to $300,000. Aside from being a completely kick-ass car with many aftermarket mods, the Charger's association with Schneider and the TV show certainly make it more valuable than a normal 1969 Charger. <br /><br />Thanks for the tip, Keith!<br /><br />[Source: eBay Motors]<br /><br /><strong>Related posts:</strong><br /><span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/02/ebay-find-of-the-day-john-schneider-sells-his-general-lee-for-o/" target="_blank"><strong>eBay Find of the Day: John Schneider's General Lee going for $2.3...</strong></a></span><br /><span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/07/video-john-schneider-watching-the-general-lee-go-for-almost-10/" target="_blank"><strong>VIDEO: John Schneider watching the waning moments of his General ...</strong></a></span><br /><span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/09/26/video-general-lee-audi-quattro-drift-car/" target="_blank"><strong>VIDEO: "General Lee" Audi Quattro drift car!</strong></a></span><br /><span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/04/holy-john-schneiders-general-lee-sold-for-nearly-10-mil/" target="_blank"><strong>Holy $#!@ - John Schneider's General Lee sold for nearly $10 mill...</strong></a></span><br /><span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/09/big-surprise-winner-of-general-lee-auction-backs-out-on-10-mil/" target="_blank"><strong>Big Surprise! Does the paint job give this car any pop-culture cred via osmosis? Yes, yes, calling it the "General Zee" displays a modicum of wit, but we can't condone trying to splice in cool with a paint job. Us Gen-Xers will always have a soft spot for the orange Charger with pushbars out front and "01" emblazoned on its welded-shut doors. Giving that treatment to a 2002 Z-28 does not make it a collector car, even if the abomination has under 40,000 miles on it. There's a "Dixie" horn setup, and enough amateur-grade extra wiring is present in the underhood shots to make us cringe visibly. Our favorite modification has to be the muffler, which <em>"has holes added to enhance the sound quality of the V-8 engine."</em> The dead newspaper tycoon operating the T5-6 is a nice touch, too. Must be a one-off, 'cause that's the first we've heard of a <em>"Hearst"</em> shifter. Reserve is not yet met at a current bid of $7,100. Us, we'd use that cash as a downpayment on a General Lee replica that's at least a Mopar, though an Omni GLH dressed up in this type of drag would be equally repugnant.<br /><br />Thanks for the tip, Aaron!<br /><br />[Source: eBay]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-zee-z28-with-dukes-paint">General Zee - Z28 with Dukes paint</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-zee-z28-with-dukes-paint/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/4e74_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-zee-z28-with-dukes-paint/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/4f1d_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-zee-z28-with-dukes-paint/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/4f73_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-zee-z28-with-dukes-paint/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/50bd_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-zee-z28-with-dukes-paint/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/5132_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/19/ebay-find-of-the-day-general-lee-camaro-not-even-john-schneider/">eBay Find of the Day: General Zee Camaro not even John Schneider could love</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 19 May 2007 13:42:00 EST. In part one, we talk about the possibility of a car-based, RWD pickup from Hyundai's BH platform. In the podcast's second section we talk about the ridiculous auction for the General Lee, and the proliferation of Dodge advertising in the new <em>Fantastic Four</em> movie. In the last part of the podcast, we discuss Zeta (it's on again) and the Chevy Volt.<br /><br />Check it out. Per your suggestions, we cut the podcast into three sections for smaller downloads, and we've also embedded sections two and three of the podcast after the jump. If you have any more suggestions on how to improve the enhanced version of the Podcast, let us know in the comments. We're working on a better distribution system than shoving all three in our current RSS feed of the audio-only version, so soon you'll be able to subscribe just to the enhanced version's RSS feed. <br /><br /><strong><a href="http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/videos/autoblog-podcast-64-sec1.mov">DOWNLOAD</a></strong> <strong>Part One</strong> to your desktop (Car-based RWD Hyundai Pickup)<br /><strong><a href="http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/videos/autoblog-podcast-64-sec2.mov">DOWNLOAD</a></strong> <strong>Part Two</strong> to your desktop (General Lee, Fantastic Four)<br /><strong><a href="http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/videos/autoblog-podcast-64-sec3.mov">DOWNLOAD</a></strong> <strong>Part Three</strong> to your desktop (Zeta is on, Chevy Volt)<br /><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Autoblogvideo"><strong>SUBSCRIBE</strong></a> to the Autoblog YouTube video channel<br /><br /><a href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s="><strong>SUBSCRIBE</strong></a> to the Autoblog Podcast in iTunes<br /><a href="http://podcasts.autoblog.com/rss.xml"><strong>ADD</strong></a> the Autoblog Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/13/video-autoblog-podcast-65-enhanced/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Autoblog Podcast #65 (enhanced)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/13/video-autoblog-podcast-65-enhanced/">VIDEO: Autoblog Podcast #65 (enhanced)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 13 May 2007 14:37:00 EST.
