<br /><a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/photos/2009-shanghai-auto-show-geely-tiger/1503276/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2009geelytiger_11_opt.jpg" class="right border" alt="" /></a>The Geely GT Concept <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/21/beijing-208-geely-tiger-gt-concept-steals-the-show/">stole the show</a> at last year's Beijing Auto Show, mostly because it stood out as one of the few Chinese designs that wasn't a Xerox copy of something sold elsewhere in the world. Geely designers walked out on a limb with their pens and created a truly unique shape with interesting details, and regardless what you think of the result, at the very least it drew praise for being an original Chinese design. <br /><br />As we <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/31/beijing-preview-geely-tiger-gt-concept-back-with-full-interior/">reported earlier</a>, Geely has brought the GT Concept back for this year's Shanghai Auto Show, this time with a complete working interior and butterfly doors (the original was just a shell). This suggests that the car is slowly marching towards production as the Chinese automaker works out engineering issues and again judges the reaction it receives at this year's show. Should the GT reach Chinese showrooms, it will likely be called the Tiger (its current name actually stands for "Geely Tiger"). The question now is whether or not Geely will give its unique coupe some claws.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/photos/2009-shanghai-auto-show-geely-tiger/low/">2009 Shanghai Auto Show: Geely GT "Tiger" Concpet</a></strong></p><a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/photos/2009-shanghai-auto-show-geely-tiger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/chinese.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2009geelytiger_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/photos/2009-shanghai-auto-show-geely-tiger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/chinese.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2009geelytiger_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/photos/2009-shanghai-auto-show-geely-tiger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/chinese.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2009geelytiger_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/photos/2009-shanghai-auto-show-geely-tiger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/chinese.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2009geelytiger_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/photos/2009-shanghai-auto-show-geely-tiger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/chinese.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2009geelytiger_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/">Beijing 2009: Geely GT Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03_geely-gt2-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/07_geely-gt2-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05_geely-gt2-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01_geely-gt2-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://chinese.autoblog.com/2009/04/20/2009-geely-tiger/">Autoblog Chinese</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/20/shanghai-2009-geely-gt-returns-as-tiger-complete-with-interior/">Shanghai 2009: Geely GT returns as Tiger, complete with interior and working doors!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 12:20:00 EST. <br />Last year, among 20 other Geely concepts, it was the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/21/beijing-208-geely-tiger-gt-concept-steals-the-show/">Geely GT</a> that stole the Beijing Auto Show. An original Chinese-designed coupe, it was over-the-top everywhere, but in a way that some felt came together very nicely. This year, it could be the Geely GT that steals the Shanghai Auto Salon - even over <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/03/geely-to-show-updated-gt-concept-in.html">this car</a>.<br /><br />The next evolution of the GT ("Geely Tiger," which, yes, means it's the "Geely Geely Tiger") has butterfly doors, and "90% of the engineering problems" have been solved. Judging by the way Geely is talking and the way the car looks inside-and-out, the Chinese automaker is probably looking at a production run of this beastie, provided it gets enough positive feedback.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/">Beijing 2009: Geely GT Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03_geely-gt2-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/07_geely-gt2-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05_geely-gt2-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2009-geely-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01_geely-gt2-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/">Geely Tiger GT Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/00_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/01_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/02_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/03_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/04_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/03/geely-to-show-updated-gt-concept-in.html">Carscoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/31/beijing-preview-geely-tiger-gt-concept-back-with-full-interior/">Shanghai Preview: Geely Tiger GT concept back with full interior and butterfly doors!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 31 Mar 2009 15:20:00 EST. The brand has over 20 some debuts, but most are ho-hum little econoboxes that Chinese consumers are buying by the ton right now. The Tiger GT concept, however, is one vehicle from Geely that's getting a lot of attention for a different reason. It's an all-Chinese design concept, and as you can clearly see, looks like nothing else on the road. Whether or not that's a good or bad thing is up to you, but Geely makes no apologizes for new coupe concept that takes its basic shape from the Italian school of design and adds some unmistakable Chinese touches. As described by our blogging buddies at <a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/2008/04/17/2008-beijing-geely-gt-concept/">Autoblog Chinese</a>, "the front is extremely arrogant." Indeed. They liken the grille to a Chinese mask and we wouldn't be surprised to find a sword rack hanging in the back window. <br /><br />The Tiger GT is reportedly powered by a 3.5L V6 producing 225 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque. Riding on 19-inch concept wheels, the concept's motor would appear to have a hard time backing up the shear loudness of the coupe's design. It's got chrome fangs, for Pete's sake. Love it or hate it, the Geely Tiger GT concept is at least original, and as our colleagues in China tell us, that alone is worthy of applause. <br /><br />Check out our full high-res gallery of the Geely Tiger GT below and let us know what you think in the comments.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/">Geely Tiger GT Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/00_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/01_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/02_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/03_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geely-tiger-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/04_beijinggeelygt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><span onmouseout="_tipoff()" onmouseover="_tipon(this)" style=""><em><strong>All photos Copyright (C)2008 Bin Chen / Weblogs, Inc. <br /><br /></strong></em></span>[Source: <a href="http://cn.autoblog.com/2008/04/17/2008-beijing-geely-gt-concept/">Autoblog Chinese</a>, <a href="http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightline/4673">Straightline Blog</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/21/beijing-208-geely-tiger-gt-concept-steals-the-show/">Beijing 208: Geely Tiger GT concept steals the show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 21 Apr 2008 12:00:00 EST. We'll count the Geely GT among that last group. Details are sparse at the moment -- we have no clue what the proposed powertrain consists of, for example -- but Geely's coupe concept this year looks to be substantially more ambitious and voluptuous than the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/20/shanghai-auto-show-geely-meirenbao-ii-concept/">Mybo II</a> 2-door show car it displayed last year in Shanghai. The Mybo II didn't have a whole lot going on in the looks department except a peculiar face that had us expecting it to transform into a giant robot at any moment. <br /><br />The Geely GT mashes up a variety of looks -- we see some Maybach Exceleo, Ferrari 612, Nissan GT-R, and assorted Peugeot in there. The end result is something that we'd actually be interested to see in person, as the preview photos (or are they renderings?) demonstrate. We won't be there, but we'll bring you the live photos via our friends at Autoblog Chinese when things kick off next month.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-geeley-gt-concept/low/">2008 Geeley GT Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-geeley-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/geeley_gt_preview_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-geeley-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/geeley_gt_preview_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Autoblog Chinese]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/26/beijing-08-preview-geeley-gt-concept-to-debut/">Beijing '08 Preview: Geely GT concept to debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 26 Mar 2008 12:32:00 EST.
