If you find yourself in the theater to watch Transformers: Age of Extinction, pay special attention to the scenes set in China between mouthfuls of popcorn because you just might be seeing some of those vehicles on roads in the US in the not-too-distant future. Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd. (GAC) has several of its Trumpchi brand of vehicles in the new action film, and it claims that it's trying to bring them to American consumers as soon as next year.
You have to love the global auto industry. Fiat will be introducing a Chinese-built version of the American Dodge Dart, a car that's based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, at the Beijing auto show on April 23. Dubbed "Viaggio," production of the new sedan will launch in July, with sales commencing in China by the end of the year.
The last time we wrote about the Torino Design studio in Italy, it was to take a peek at their Prius of the Future challenge. Those cars were pretty far out there, but that's to be expected when designers are looking to predict what the Prius will look like in 2015. Heck, for some people, today's Prius is too outlandish. The Torino studio is responsible for a less crazy hybrid design unveiled today at the Guangzhou Auto Show by the Chinese Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC).
