A forum member at Motive has (supposedly) obtained Infiniti's 2009 ordering guide, and with it comes (supposed) word that the 2009 G-series sedan will be upgraded with the 3.7-liter VQ37VHR V6. Exact output has yet to be confirmed, but the document rates the 3.7-liter V6 at 320+ hp, with power sent to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The model and package list (posted after the jump) goes on to say that the 2009 Infiniti G37 will include four-piston front brakes equipped with 14-inch rotors, five-spoke 18-inch wheels, re-designed side view mirrors and the Scratch Shield paint found on the new FX line of CUVs. Two new exterior colors will also be made available: Moonlight White and Sahara Sandstone.
We've got a call in to Infiniti's PR people to confirm the information. Watch this space for an update.
UPDATE: Infiniti got back to us, saying that more information about the 2009 Infiniti Gs will be available in August, but it wouldn't confirm the G37 sedan. As we already know, the retractable hardtop G37 coupe is on the way and sales are expected to begin in February next year. That means we should see the G37 convertible at an auto show later this year -- our money is on LA.
Entry luxury crossovers are only a few weeks from getting a new competitor, and the Infiniti EX35 will be priced to sell. The base EX begins at a reasonable $31,300, and includes a 297 HP 3.5L V6, five speed automatic, and six air bags. Infiniti also offers a RWD EX Journey for $34,850, and leather-trimmed seats, moon roof, and front and rear sensing systems come standard. AWD is a $1,400 option on both models. Infiniti also offers several option packages that will bring the little CUV over the $40,000 mark, but that's the standard top end for much of the segment.
The EX35 has good looks, a willing chassis based off the G35 sedan, and an outstanding VQ engine. At these prices, Infinity should meet sales quotas and steal buyers from other luxury nameplates at the same time. The EX35 will be available beginning December 21. Check out the press release after the jump.

It finally sank in a while back that Skyline and GT-R are now two exclusive entities unto themselves. As such, Nissan has just unveiled its newest version of the Skyline to its domestic market, which is essentially the Infiniti G37 here in the States, but with an additional three horsepower, Nissan's new pop-up engine hood technology and a blind-spot monitor system.
The V36 Skyline comes with the VQ37VHR V6 engine, mated to either a six-speed manual or an electronic five-speed auto 'box that employs "Adaptive Shift Control," revising shifts dependent on driving style and environmental situations.
Four flavors of Skyline are available to Japanese consumers -- the 370GT, Type-P, Type-S and Type SP – all ranging in price and options.
We've posted Nissan's full press release after the jump for all you JDM OCD types, and there's a gallery below for your viewing enjoyment.
Official word has yet to come down from on high, but it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Infiniti G37 will eventually get AWD hardware. Potential buyers are asking dealers, who are in turn asking Infiniti about channeling the VQ's urge through all four wheels. The M45 and G35S will both be gaining AWD in the near future, so it does bode well for the possibility of a G37x. Official statements are vague about any actual developments, other than to say "it's reasonable to expect it may happen." It's also reasonable to assume that Infiniti's watching the competition like BMW and Audi proliferating AWD euro-luxers, and they'd be remiss to neglect offering the same capabilities.

Infintit G37 Coupe Journey (5-speed auto): $35,000
Infiniti G37 Coupe Sport 6MT (6-speed manual): $35,550
In terms of bells and whistles, here's Infiniti's pricing for the major options and option packages:
Moonroof: $1,000
Premium Package: $3,200
Sport Package: $1,850
Navigation Package: $2,200
Technology Package: $1,150
Performance Tire & Wheel Package: $650

The complete press release has been pasted after the jump. We've checked the company's website, and the G37 has not yet been added to the "Build Your Infiniti" feature yet. We're guessing that it'll be there come 8/21. You can check out plenty of high-res shots in the updated gallery below.
UPDATE: We spoke to the folks at Nissan and got some more info for you. We were wondering what the difference between the base car and the Journey was. The Journey adds the following items as standard equipment:
Auto on/off headlights
Dual HVAC
In-dash CD6
8-way Power Passenger Seat
Additionally, there are no options available for the base car. Buyers must step up to Journey or Sport 6MT if they want to add premium, navigation, sport, etc.
Our friends over at the GT Channel are in the midst of Infiniti's G37 press event, and between shrimp cocktails and the malaise of pandering PR-types, Mark Igo, the general manager and veep of Nissan's luxury arm made the announcement that a new FX is due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next year.
It's a foregone conclusion that the new 3.7-liter VQ-series V6 will be making its way under the hood of many new Infiniti models, including the new G37, M37 and now, the FX37. But aside from powertrain speculation, Igo remained mum on any styling revisions that the long-in-the-tooth FX will undergo. We'll be on the floor in Geneva in March, so for now, the waiting game begins.
The weather's finally stabilized here in Cleveland where this blogger lives and convertibles have begun to quickly populate the roadways. Thus, it's no surprise that news of convertibles has also begun to populate Autoblog. Earlier today we told you about speculation that Nissan's working on a drop-top Altima Coupe, and now we bring you a rendering found in a Japanese auto mag of an Infiniti G37 hardtop convertible. Now, we have no reason to believe Infiniti is actually developing a G37 vert besides the fact that it seems like a gimme. We imagine Infiniti is at least considering the this option for the G37 if for no other reason than the BMW 3-Series Coupe can be had with a folding hard top, and we all know the 3-Series sits squarely in the G35/G37's sights. For what it's worth, the rendering looks positively gorgeous, as if the car was designed with a convertible in mind from the get-go.
The Autoblog team hit the New York auto show with full force, and we captured everything the show had to offer. In fact, the 2007 New York show represented the most videos we've ever done for an Auto Show, and we started our own video page on YouTube to house it all. The new Hyundai Genesis, Subaru WRX, Ford Flex, and NISMO 350Z were only a few of the things we saw in New York, and we've captured a bunch of the news in the video after the jump. We hope you like it.
With the dust still settling from our trip to the New York Auto Show, we decided it would be best to focus only on cars from the Big Apple this week. There were plenty of great photos, from exotics and vintage hot rods, to new products like the Subaru WRX and Ford Flex. You can check out videos from the New York show here, and all the latest news and information can be found here. We've also added links below to some of the more exciting galleries from New York.

Ever-tightening emissions requirements, teamed with consumers' lust for today's high horsepower numbers, have led to some creative valve timing and lift schemes. Infiniti's G37 will be pack some interesting tech underhood when it debuts at the upcoming New York International Auto Show. There are actually two new developments working in conjunction to give independent control over valve timing and lift. Nissan has dubbed the control technologies Variable Valve Event and Lift and Continuous Valve Timing control, or VVEL and C-VTC, respectively. VVEL uses a clever arrangement of links to actuate the valves, and moves the fulcrum for the links via a seperate shaft actuated by a DC motor. By moving the fulcrum, the valve lift is varied.
