<br />
We've known since mid-December that Infiniti's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/17/infiniti-queues-up-questionable-q-and-qx-naming-scheme/">new global model naming convention</a> would turn the current-generation <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+coupe/">G37 Coupe</a> into the Q60 Coupe starting next year, but we haven't been clear on whether the model-range-formerly-known-as-G would get a successor, especially as its volume has traditionally been a lot lower than its sedan counterpart.<br />
<br />
Thankfully, Infiniti president <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/04/de-nysschen-headed-to-nissan-will-run-infiniti-from-new-hong-ko/">Johann De Nysschen</a> (above) has stepped up to confirm that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/14/2014-infinti-q50-detroit-2013/">newly revealed</a> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/q50/">Q50 sedan</a> will receive a two-door counterpart, though perhaps not as quickly as some would like. According to an interview with Australia's <em>CarAdvice.com</em>, De Nysschen says "the coupe we can probably expect two-and-a-half to three years down the road." That news also suggests that if there's an eventual convertible version, that it's a long way off, too. Why so long? Infiniti has "a lot of priorities" - priorities that undoubtedly include an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/20/infiniti-confirms-new-premium-compact-to-be-built-in-uk/">already-confirmed front-wheel-drive</a> small hatchback/crossover.<br />
<br />
The report also indicates that Infiniti has some aspirations for stretching its new Q50/Q60 range in a higher-performance direction to take on competitors like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/">BMW</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/">Audi</a>, the latter being De Nysschen's former employer. There's far from a firm timetable offered, of course, with De Nysschen saying "someday in the future we will be able to offer more high performance versions [of Q50] than we have today... the dynamic capabilities of this platform are very significant. It can handle far higher power than the engines we are using at launch."<br />
<br />
Infiniti has long envisioned itself as Japan's answer to BMW, and from where we sit, high-performance models would likely help keep the brand focused as it branches out into new segments like that of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/jx/">JX</a>, a three-row crossover with few sporting pretensions. In addition, its nascent <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ipl/">Infiniti Performance Line</a> [IPL] franchise could use the help - we've been underwhelmed with the pricy <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/ipl+g/">IPL G Coupe</a> and Convertible to this point, and Infiniti will need to work harder if it truly wants to align its products with its growing Formula One marketing efforts.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/22/infiniti-boss-de-nysschen-confirms-next-gen-q60-coupe-ponders-h/">Infiniti boss De Nysschen confirms next-gen Q60 Coupe, ponders high-performance variants</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 22 Jan 2013 16:30:00 EST. <br />
Oh boy, this is about to get confusing with a capital Q.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://autoblog.com/infiniti/">Infiniti</a> has just announced a brand-new scheme that calls for completely new model names across its entire lineup of vehicles. Making things even more difficult will be the fact that all coupes, convertible and sedans will get a Q prefix while all crossovers and SUVs will be prefixed with QX.<br />
<br />
Further muddying the waters, previous engine displacement monikers will be replaced by a double-digit number "representing hierarchy within the range." Put less simply, the slot in the lineup currently held by the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+sedan/">G Sedan</a> will be called Q50 while the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+coupe/">G Coupe</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+convertible/">Convertible</a> will be called Q60. Q70 will replace the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/m/">M Sedan</a> at the top of the automaker's lineup of cars.<br />
<br />
On the truck side, the range-topping <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/qx/">QX</a> is now the QX80. Sitting below is the QX70, which was formerly the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/fx/">FX</a>, then the QX60 that used to be the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/jx/">JX</a> and finally the QX50, which was but is no longer the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/ex/">EX</a>. Qonfused yet?<br />
<br />
Getting back to the G... excuse us, Q50, this is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/11/28/infiniti-confirms-all-new-sports-sedan-will-debut-in-detroit/">new sedan</a> that Infiniti had previously announced would be debuting at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/detroit-auto-show/">2013 Detroit Auto Show</a>. Best we can tell, this is a replacement for the old G Sedan, and it will sit below the currently available G Coupe and G Convertible, which will be renamed Q60.<br />
<br />
The Q50 will be the first model from Infiniti to fall into the new Q-based naming convention, with the rest of the automaker's lineup falling into place as 2014 models are announced. Infiniti said on a conference call that this move was necessary as the brand branches out beyond the United States.<br />
<br />
"This strategic change reflects Infiniti's desire for clarity and cohesiveness," says the press release, which you can read <a href="/2012/12/17/infiniti-queues-up-questionable-q-and-qx-naming-scheme/#continued">below</a>. Hopefully, that will clear everything up for you...<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/17/infiniti-queues-up-questionable-q-and-qx-naming-scheme/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Infiniti queues up questionable Q and QX naming scheme</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/17/infiniti-queues-up-questionable-q-and-qx-naming-scheme/">Infiniti queues up questionable Q and QX naming scheme</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 17 Dec 2012 19:00:00 EST. <br />
It happens every year. We bid <em>adieu</em> to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.<br />
<br />
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lexus">Lexus</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lexus/hs+250h/"> HS 250h</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/r-class/">Mercedes-Benz R-Class</a> and the full <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/maybach/">Maybach</a> lineup appear, while the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford">Ford</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/escape+hybrid/"> Escape Hybrid</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mazda">Mazda</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mazda/cx-7/"> CX-7</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/veracruz"> Veracruz</a> are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/jeep">Jeep</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/jeep+liberty"> Liberty</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chrysler/town+and+country/">Chrysler Town &amp; Country</a> (which will <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/30/marchionne-confirms-compass-town-and-country-to-die-dart-to-get/">eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle</a>).<br />

<br />
<span style="text-align: left; ">Remember when the price of entry to the "entry-level luxury" space was around $30,000? These days, that's the average price of a new car, nevermind something with premium brand cachet attached. Forgive our rose-colored glasses for a moment, but we've just come across the pricing announcement for the new-for-2013 Infiniti IPL G Convertible and it starts at $60,600, *plus $895 for delivery. (If a fixed head is more your speed, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+coupe/">IPL G Coupe</a> starts at $50,500). That's a whole lot of ducats.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="text-align: left; ">Of course, this is the full-tilt </span><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/IPL/" style="text-align: left; ">Infiniti Performance Line</a><span style="text-align: left; "> model, with its 343-horsepower 3.7-liter VQ V6, spidery 19-inch wheels, tightened-up suspension, sportier exhaust and the buyer's choice of a six-speed manual or seven-speed paddleshift automatic, to say nothing of the trick folding hardtop.</span>
<p class="p1" style="text-align: left; ">
	<br />
	In truth, Infiniti's rivals from Bavaria ask even more for their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/3+series/">BMW 335is convertible</a> ($60,800) and it only has 320 horsepower. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/">Audi</a> and its 333-hp <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/s5/">S5 Convertible</a> is a wee bit lighter on the wallet, meanwhile, commanding at least $59,300 and offering all-wheel drive, but it doesn't make the same sexy noise that the the IPL does.<br />
	<br />
	Of course, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/">Infiniti</a> still has some nice G models in the 30-$omething range and there's a full family of models in between to satisfy every junior executive's wallet. Us? If we really wanted a droptop from Nissan's upscale outpost, we'd probably forgo the IPL bits and content ourselves with the far less costly <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+convertible/">G37 Convertible</a> - all $46,650 and 325-horsepower's worth - at least until the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/17/infiniti-working-on-530-hp-twin-turbo-ipl-model-for-g/">rumored 530-hp, twin-turbo IPL</a> arrives.<br />

<br />
The current <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+sedan/">Infiniti G</a> has soldiered on since the 2009 model year with few updates, so it is about time for a design change. But how much longer do we have to wait? Inside Line reports that the new G will arrive next spring with a new design, fresh engines and a possible hybrid variant.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://autoblog.com/nissan/">Nissan</a> VP Andy Palmer reportedly let loose the G's tight time line, while providing room for us to speculate what engineering changes could come with the redesign. The high-ranking executive told IL that the partnership between Nissan and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/">Mercedes-Benz</a> is progressing as planned, and we know that a four-cylinder engine is among the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/10/nissan-agrees-to-make-engines-for-mercedes-in-tennessee/">early collaborative endeavors</a>. In fact, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/11/next-infiniti-g-to-use-mercedes-sourced-engines/">just last week</a> <em>Autocar</em> reported that the next G will feature diesel and four-cylinder engines with Mercedes DNA.<br />
<br />
Such a powerplant could replace the 2.5-liter V6 under the hood of the G25, and turbocharging could be on order as well. Palmer added that a turbocharged six could also be in the cards, noting that there is a business case for blown sixes that deliver V8 power with V6 fuel economy. Given that the entry Infiniti sedan doesn't currently feature a V8 option, we're all for more G-power for 2014.<br />
<br />
The last interesting tidbit is the possibility of a G hybrid model. The addition of a battery-assisted G makes sense given that the automaker already features a hybrid option in its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/26/2012-infiniti-m35h-quick-spin-review-road-test/">M sedan</a>, and using the powertrain in more applications helps lower development costs.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/15/next-infiniti-g-to-arrive-in-a-years-time/">Next Infiniti G to arrive in a year's time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 15 May 2012 09:59:00 EST. <br />
There's an almost infinite amount to love about the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+coupe/">Infiniti G37</a> line. In <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+sedan/">sedan</a> or coupe form, X or S guise, the vehicles deliver that difficult-to-attain blend of rear-wheel-biased performance, content and refinement with a manageable price tag. With the excellent VQ37 3.7-liter V6 engine pounding under the hood and the buyer's choice of manual or automatic gearboxes pushing power to the rear or all four wheels, the G37 family is one of the market's best arguments against sliding behind the wheel of a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/3 series">BMW 3 Series</a>. That is, unless you wanted a truly serious performance machine.<br />
<br />
German titans like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw">BMW</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz">Mercedes-Benz</a> have been lapping European racetracks under their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/m">M</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/amg">AMG</a> banners for decades, honing performance hardware that customers would merrily plop down fat stacks of cash for later. While Japanese luxury automakers have been somewhat slow to embrace performance sub-brands, recent years have seen an explosion of consonant-laced badging stuck to sharper machinery. Among Japanese automakers, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lexus">Lexus</a> first dipped a toe in those waters with the company's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/f-sport">F-Sport</a> goods, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti">Infiniti</a> has risen to the challenge with its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/infiniti performance line">Infiniti Performance Line</a>. By gracing the G37 Coupe with more horsepower, a sharper suspension, larger brakes and unique interior appointments, Infiniti has taken a first step into a world dominated by some of the world's most storied badges.<br />
<br />
But is the IPL G37 a serious performance contender or simply a bolt-on queen with delusions of grandeur?<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/15/2012-infiniti-g37-ipl-review-road-test/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2012 Infiniti G37 IPL</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/15/2012-infiniti-g37-ipl-review-road-test/">2012 Infiniti G37 IPL</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Mar 2012 11:55:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan">Nissan</a> is recalling certain <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan/370z">370Z</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+coupe/">Infiniti G37 Coupe</a> models due to an improperly calibrated auto-reverse feature on the vehicle's windows. Around 1,788 2011 and 2012 models may have been built with a window switch controller that won't actuate the auto-reverse quickly enough. Should someone accidentally get a body part trapped in the window, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/national highway traffic safety administration">National Highway Traffic Safety Administration</a> says that a "pinch injury" may result. It's unclear whether anyone has been injured as a result of the calibration error at this juncture, but Nissan says that the automaker will fix the power window switches free of charge.<br />
<br />
The recall is set to begin around November 28, and owners of affected vehicles can expect to hear from Nissan shortly about the program. <a href="/2011/11/16/nissan-370z-and-infiniti-g37-recalled-over-pinching-windows/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to read the full recall notice.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/16/nissan-370z-and-infiniti-g37-recalled-over-pinching-windows/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 recalled over pinching windows</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/16/nissan-370z-and-infiniti-g37-recalled-over-pinching-windows/">Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 recalled over pinching windows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 16 Nov 2011 18:45:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/infiniti">Infiniti</a> is no stranger to motorsports. The Japanese luxury marque supplied engines to the Indy Racing League in the late 90s, and recently launched a sponsorship deal with the World Champion Red Bull Racing team in Formula One (which runs sister-company <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/renault">Renault</a>'s engines). But rallying is new territory for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/nissan">Nissan</a> premium division.<br />
<br />
Now before you let your imagination run wild, bear in mind that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+coupe">G37 coupe</a> you see here is not actually competing in any rally events. It is, however, being used as a safety car for the Spanish Rally Championship.<br />
<br />
For the task, the G37 Coupe S dubbed "Work Car Zero" has been outfitted with roll-bar, dampers, brakes, bucket seats and harnesses, fire-suppression system, communications equipment and special lighting. Otherwise, it's pretty much bone stock (save for the garish paint scheme).<br />

Our waiting Infiniti IPL G Coupe idles curbside. Exiting its enormous Thermos-sized chrome exhaust tips, the invisible waveforms invite a closer listen. The baritone note suggests power, with a cadence that is is lumpy, sounding closer to a V8 with a heavy cam than any V6 we've ever heard. A harbinger of things to come, or just an evil audible tease? We had flown to California's Napa Valley to find out, but first we needed some context.<br />

<br />
The Highway Data Loss Institute has churned out its official list of vehicles with the highest and lowest insurance claims for theft. The study combines the rate of insurance claims per vehicle as well as the cost of those claims, helping companies that supply coverage determine exactly how much to charge us poor saps. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/escalade">Cadillac Escalade</a> took top honors this year with $146 in theft loss payments per insured vehicle, per year. On average, insurance companies pay out around $11,934 per theft claim when it comes to the Escalade with 10.8 of the SUVs stolen per 1,000 vehicles. That's more than 10 times the theft rate of the vehicle with the lowest theft losses - the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/s80">Volvo S80</a>.<br />
<br />
In fact, of the top 10 vehicles on the Highway Data Loss Institute's list, six were of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/general+motors/">General Motors</a> origin. How do the thieves get around the bad-guy battling OnStar vehicle immobilization? Easy. They load the coveted SUVs onto a flat bed and drive away. <br />
<br />
The 2008-2009 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/ford/">Ford</a> F-250 crew cab four-wheel drive took the silver when it came to vehicles with the highest theft loss, followed by the 2008-2009 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/g37+coupe">Infiniti G37</a> coupe. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/03/embargo-12-01-am-est-8-3-iihs-cadillac-escalade-top-target-fo/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to see if your vehicle's on the list.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan -- Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/infiniti">Infiniti</a> has turned over its cards and revealed pricing for two of its 2010 G37 models, and there is barely a bump in MSRP for the base models: the sedan's price remains the same at $33,250, while the coupe goes up by $150 to $36,050 - for which you get the revamped outside and upgraded materials and electronics inside.<br />
<br />
As usual, traveling higher up the food chain requires more dosh, but it's interesting to see how much of a hit the more enthusiast-oriented models are taking. For the sedan, the Journey trim is upped by $750, the all-wheel drive model by $350, and the Sport 6MT surges by $2,750. The coupe increases by $850 for the Journey, $450 for the AWD, and a whopping $3,400 has been tacked onto the Sport 6MT. It isn't immediately clear why the 6MT models have been targeted for comparatively large increases in price (we're guessing it's a volume thing), but you can get more details on both models in the press release after the jump.<br />
<em><br />
<strong>UPDATE</strong>: Just got word from Infiniti that the reason for the significant price increase on the 6MT model is the substantial amount of additional kit, including Bose stereo, power moonroof, iPod interface, heated front seats, power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, anti-glare mirror with Homelink and Bluetooth -- all standard.</em><br />

<br /> The Infiniti G35 coupe showed that Nissan's U.S. luxury arm could compete with the likes of Mercedes and BMW. Being mentioned in the same breath as those storied brands is nice, but Infiniti isn't looking to be class competitive; it wants to lead. Ghosn's guys rolled out the new and improved G37 Coupe for the 2008 model year with more power and a vastly improved interior while also delivering an entry price that undercuts the popular 335i coupe by around $4,000. <br /><br />The 330-hp 3.7L V6 introduced in the G37 Coupe was a big improvement over the also competent 3.5L it replaced, but the carry-over five-speed automatic was holding back Infiniti's jewel of an engine. Nissan has rectified this shortcoming for 2009 with an all-new seven-speed slush box that promises faster shifts and improved refinement and efficiency. We got our hands on a brand new 2009 model to see if it has what it takes to put the G37 at the top of the entry-level luxury food chain. Hit the jump to see how Infiniti's coupe performed during its time in the Autoblog Garage.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe-1">Review: 2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/01_g37garagea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/02_g37garagea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/00_g37garagea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/03_g37garagea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/04_g37garagea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 Chris Shunk / Weblogs, Inc.</small></span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/06/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/06/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-infiniti-g37-coupe/">Review: 2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 11:57:00 EST. <p><br />Infiniti recently invited us to Napa, California to show off its 2009 model lineup, and while they didn't bring the all-new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/02/second-teaser-of-infiniti-g37-convertible-found/">G37 Convertible</a> (we'll be at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/la-auto-show/">Los Angeles Auto Show</a> to report on that one), they did hand us the keys to the new all-wheel drive G37x coupe and the more-powerful 2009 G37 S sedan. Does all-wheel drive make a slot car out of the coupe? Does a larger engine transform the sedan? Read on for our full impressions after the jump.<em><br /></em></p>

<div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click either image for high-res gallery of the 2009 Infiniti G37S and G37x</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />From the second we learned of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/30/new-york-preview-infiniti-drops-new-pics-of-g37-coupe/">G37 Coupe</a>, we immediately wanted to know when the larger, more powerful 3.7L V6 would find its way under the hood of the sedan. The answer to that question is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/06/nissan-confirms-g37-sedan-g37-convertible-and-g37x-coupe/">2009 model year</a>, and even though the new powerplant provides a class-leading 328 ponies mated to an all-new seven speed automatic transmission, it won't break the bank much more than the last model. Pricing for the new G37 Sedan starts at $33,250, which is $1,000 more than the <a href="http://build.infiniti.com/configurator_infiniti/app?service=external/Page&amp;page=SelectTrim&amp;mo=2008:g&amp;bs=g35&amp;tool=HTML_Home_Nav.Build">2008 model</a> but still more affordable than the Infiniti's main <a href="http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Vehicles/2009/3/335iSedan/default.aspx">competition</a> in the entry luxury market. <br /><br />The G37 Coupe returns for 2009 with the same sexy lines from last year, but has added the new standard seven-speed automatic and available AWD to make the G37x. The two extra cogs helps to raise the price of entry to $35,900, which is $1,000 more than the 2008 model. AWD brings the price of entry for the G37x to $38,700. <br /><br />The seven-speed automatic has Drive Sport (DS) mode and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC), but if automated manual shifting isn't your thing, a six-speed manual gear box is available for both the coupe and sedan. Each are now available in four trim levels for the first time: the G37, G37 Journey, G37S Sport 6MT and G37x AWD. Pricing for the upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/16/infiniti-g37-convertible-revealed-ahead-of-l-a/">G37 convertible</a> has not been announced, but we should learn more during its unveiling at the 2008 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/LA-Auto-Show/">LA Auto Show</a> next month. <span style="font-style: italic;">Thanks for the tip, Justin!</span><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37s-sedan">2009 Infiniti G37S Sedan</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37s-sedan/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0980_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37s-sedan/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0980_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37s-sedan/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0981_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37s-sedan/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0983_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37s-sedan/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0987_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37x-coupe">2009 Infiniti G37x Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37x-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0884_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37x-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0885_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37x-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0887_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37x-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0889_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-g37x-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0890_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Infiniti]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/20/infiniti-prices-g37-sedan-and-g37x-coupe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Infiniti prices G37 Sedan and G37x Coupe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/20/infiniti-prices-g37-sedan-and-g37x-coupe/">Infiniti prices G37 Sedan and G37x Coupe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 20 Oct 2008 10:28:00 EST. The new G didn't go to the gym or to BALCO-merely pumping up would have been the easy route. It disappeared to some secluded mixed martial arts school in the mountains and came back with a bit more muscle, coordination, and reflexes. The eagerly-awaited successor to the outgoing G35 Coupe will arrive in showrooms on August 21, and the starting-price breakdown goes as follows:<br /><br />
<ul>
    <li>Infiniti G37 Coupe (5-speed auto): $34,250</li>
    <li>Infintit G37 Coupe Journey (5-speed auto): $35,000</li>
    <li>Infiniti G37 Coupe Sport 6MT (6-speed manual): $35,550</li>
</ul>
In terms of bells and whistles, here's Infiniti's pricing for the major options and option packages:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Moonroof: $1,000</li>
    <li>Premium Package: $3,200</li>
    <li>Sport Package: $1,850</li>
    <li>Navigation Package: $2,200</li>
    <li>Technology Package: $1,150</li>
    <li>Performance Tire &amp; Wheel Package: $650</li>
    <li>Rear Spoiler: $550</li>
    <li>4-Wheel Active Steer package: $1,300</li>
    <li>Wood interior trim: $450<br /> </li>
</ul>
The complete press release has been pasted after the jump. We've checked the company's website, and the G37 has not yet been added to the "Build Your Infiniti" feature yet. We're guessing that it'll be there come 8/21. You can check out plenty of high-res shots in the updated gallery below. <br /><br /><strong>UPDATE: </strong>We spoke to the folks at Nissan and got some more info for you. We were wondering what the difference between the base car and the Journey was. The Journey adds the following items as standard equipment:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Auto on/off headlights</li>
    <li>Dual HVAC</li>
    <li>In-dash CD6</li>
    <li>8-way Power Passenger Seat</li>
</ul>
Additionally, there are <em>no</em> options available for the base car. Buyers <u>must</u> step up to Journey or Sport 6MT if they want to add premium, navigation, sport, etc.<br /><br />Source: Infiniti<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe">2007 Infiniti G37 Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july009_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/01/price-watch-infiniti-g37-to-start-at-34-250/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Price Watch: Infiniti G37 to start at $34,250</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/01/price-watch-infiniti-g37-to-start-at-34-250/">Price Watch: Infiniti G37 to start at $34,250</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 01 Aug 2007 11:02:00 EST. What's the new G37's coefficient of drag? 0.29. How big is its fuel tank? 20.0 gallons. How much does it weigh? Well, that depends on the model, of which there are three: the base G37, G37 Journey and G37 Sport 6MT. Like other Infinitis, there will also be three option packages from which to choose: the Premium Package (upgraded Bose stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, heated seats and mirrors, etc.), the Sport Package (19-inch wheels, Viscous Limited-Slip Differential, stiffer suspension, sport brakes, sport seats and an appropriate body kit) and the Navigation Package (touch-screen navigation, 9.3-gigabyte hard drive). There's too much to list here, so you can peruse the press release and a shot of the entire specs list after the jump. The gallery has also been updated with high-res, desktop wallpaper-sized versions of the new pics. <br /><br />[Source: Infiniti]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe">2007 Infiniti G37 Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july009_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-infiniti-g37-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/g37_newshots_july005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/infiniti-releases-new-pics-and-complete-specs-on-g37/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Infiniti releases new pics and complete specs on G37</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/infiniti-releases-new-pics-and-complete-specs-on-g37/">Infiniti releases new pics and complete specs on G37</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 26 Mar 2007 17:28:00 EST. Set to be unveiled next month at the NY International Auto Show, the car now has a name attached to it: G37. This was confirmed in an email that went out earlier today from the show organizers. We also have a new teaser shot of the car, as you can see here. No reason's been given yet for the updated nomenclature, but we'll guess that a bumped-up 3.7L version of the VQ powerplant will reside under the coupe's hood. While the teaser shows just the headlight, the <strong><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/nissan-coupe-concept/">2006 Infiniti Coupe Concept</a></strong> gives you a real good idea of what to expect in the looks department.<br /><br />The other Infiniti debut at NY is called the EX Concept, which is said to showcase new technology that the automaker will implement on production cars for the first time ever by the end of 2007. We'll be in the Big Apple to bring you all the news as it happens. <br /><br />[Source: NYIAS]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/13/next-infiniti-g-coupe-officially-named-g37/">Next Infiniti G Coupe officially named G37</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 13 Mar 2007 11:26:00 EST.
