Alternative marketing companies that want to plaster your car with "tasteful" advertisements are paying hundreds of dollars to the right people, but chances are you aren't one of them. There is a reason you don't see many of these driving billboards, because the companies with the money are looking for people who travel a lot and park their car in interesting places. More scrupulous types know that people are willing to do just about anything to get relief from the rising cost of transportation, so there are a lot of scams out there, too. If anyone asks for, say, a deposit or a car for keeps, that's probably not going to really happen. Most arrangements only last a few months, and pay can fluctuate wildly.

If you've actually worked as a rolling billboard, let us know in the comments. Be sure to add the company you worked for, how your experience went, and whether you'd do it again.

[Source: Wallet Pop]
Offset high gas prices by turning your car into billboard originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 07 Jun 2008 15:03:00 EST. You do? Then what the hell are you doing reading Autoblog? However you got here, it's your lucky day. Because perhaps for the first time in Autoblog history, we have a post on headwear design. All you dedicated readers stop your groaning, it's not totally off-topic. Chrysler's giving away not only a trip to the 133rd Kentucky Derby, but a new Sebring convertible as well. (See, we brought it back on topic.)

You have a month to design a Kentucky Derby-worthy hat inspired by (and utilizing parts of) Chrysler's 2008 Sebring soft top. Get your best sketch along with a 100-word essay to Chrysler by March 5 to qualify. Complete rules and other important notices, disclaimers and promotional verbiage are all in the official press release after the jump.

[Source: Chrysler]
Continue reading Best lid wins topless Sebring

Best lid wins topless Sebring originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 31 Jan 2007 08:31:00 EST. Nevertheless, here's a great little time waster for those of you stuck back in your cubicles after the wonderful Holiday season has faded into a fuzzy memory of friends, family and food. Paper models like these at Paper Toys have been around for ages, but the mere mention of them today rekindled happy thoughts of building a Fiat Panda just like the one we piloted in Italy a few years ago.

The site isn't categorized so you'll have to scan the columns for the cars and trucks you like, but there are quite a few available. The Ferrari Testarossa pictured above was our favorite but there is a 911 for Porsche loversm as well as new and old Beetles, a Formula 1 car, a HUMMER, a Skyline, and several others. And if you get through all of the cars, there are other vehicles (the Space Shuttle!) and buildings to build, as well as pop up cards and other activities on the site. We've seen tons of these on Asian language websites in the past and know there are many more sites out there, so please share your favorites in the comments.
Free cars for those unafraid of paper cuts originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 04 Jan 2007 17:02:00 EST.
