<br />
The United Arab Emirates is a land that continually breathes new life into the phrase "More money than sense." The new prime example of this is a custom-built <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/f-150+svt+raptor/">Ford SVT Raptor</a> that believes the prime number of doors is six. Said to hail from the UAE, it's quite clear that anything goes in the Land Of The Burning <strike>Dollar Sign</strike> Sun.<br />
<br />
We're not going to completely hate on this thing, of course, as the idea of a six-door Raptor puts visions of a seriously great camping trip in mind. Still, we're not even sure if this thing is actually real or if someone with solid skills spent too much time playing around on their computer. Judge for yourself by <a href="/2011/09/02/ford-svt-raptor-with-six-doors-only-in-the-uae/#continued">clicking past the jump</a> and watching the video.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/02/ford-svt-raptor-with-six-doors-only-in-the-uae/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford SVT Raptor with... six doors?! <br />
Over the last several weeks, there have been a number of <a href="http://www.raptorforumz.com/showthread.php?t=14208">reports on web forums of frame damage incidents</a> involving the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/f-150+svt+raptor/">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a>. Thanks to a number of reader tips, Autoblog was the first news outlet to inquire with Ford about the matter. After launching its own investigation into the claims centering around one particular organized Raptor Run in Nevada with 14 participating vehicles and 10 bent frames, Jamal Hameedi, a 20-year Ford veteran and SVT's Chief Nameplate Engineer, agreed to talk exclusively with Autoblog.<br />
<br />
<img alt="Jamal Hameedi" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2011/07/2011shelgt500hameedi-opt.jpg" style="border-style: solid; border-width: 0px; margin: 4px; float: right; height: 275px; width: 220px;" /><em><strong>AB:</strong> When did you first become aware of these Raptor frame claims?<br />
<br />
<strong>Hameedi:</strong> We monitor all the blogs - I think there are three or four different versions of Raptor online forums. We saw that there was one particular run where several Raptors bent their frames on the same obstacle.<br />
<br />
</em> <em><strong>AB:</strong> How many Raptors have been reported with frame damage?<br />
<br />
<strong>Hameedi:</strong> We have four nationwide since the beginning of production.<br />
<br />
</em> <em><strong>AB:</strong> It sounded like there were more than four vehicles damaged in this individual run alone - are these not included in that total?<br />
<br />
<strong>Hameedi:</strong> I think we've been reading that there are ten trucks in question [in that run].<br />
<br />
</em>
<div style="border: 0px dotted black; margin: 5px; padding: 2px 3px; color: rgb(153, 0, 0); line-height: 120%; font-size: 1.5em; float: right; width: 218px; text-align: left;">
	<strong>"We have a pretty firm understanding of what's going on."<br />
	</strong>
	<div style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; margin-top: 8px;">
		<strong>Jamal Hameedi, SVT Chief Nameplate Engineer</strong></div>
</div>
<em><strong>AB:</strong> So the four trucks you mentioned - those are just the ones that have been directly reported to Ford dealers?<br />
<br />
<strong>Hameedi:</strong> Yes.<br />
<br />
<strong>AB:</strong> Have they all been bent in more-or-less in the same way?<br />
<br />
<strong>Hameedi:</strong> The ones on the run, I think there are varying degrees of how [badly] they are tweaked, but generally we have a pretty firm understanding of what's going on.</em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/07/21/svt-boss-goes-on-record-about-ford-raptor-frame-damage-claims-w/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SVT boss goes on record about Ford Raptor frame damage claims [w/video]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/07/21/svt-boss-goes-on-record-about-ford-raptor-frame-damage-claims-w/">SVT boss goes on record about Ford Raptor frame damage claims [w/video]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 21 Jul 2011 12:31:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
Ford's off-road beast, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">F-150 SVT Raptor</a>, has only been on sale for a year, but it's already getting a few upgrades for the 2011 model year.<br />
<br />
Many reports and a few <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/14/reader-spy-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-supercrew-spotted-naked-and-un/">spy shots</a> indicated that Ford had been prepping a four-door SuperCrew version of the Raptor (you know, for when the family wants to do the Baja run with you), and the automaker has officially confirmed the details (<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/14/ford-confirmes-raptor-supercrew-only-available-with-6-2-liter-v/">again</a>). The SuperCrew's wheelbase is a full 12 inches longer than the standard Raptor, meaning it should provide a more comfortable ride along the way, and the 5.5-foot box can still haul everything you need when you get there.<br />
<br />
Speaking of capability, all Raptors now come standard with more power on tap - the 6.2-liter V8 will be the only available powertrain for 2011 (sad trombone for the people who rushed out to get the 5.4). As we <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/12/2011-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-to-drop-base-engine-get-standard-6-2l-v8/">reported earlier</a>, it stands to reason that the 2011 Raptor will get a price increase to account for the larger mill, but it's a small price to pay for an extra 101 horsepower and 69 pound-feet of torque over the 5.4-liter V8.<br />
<br />
From there, the other enhancements for 2011 are purely cosmetic. Raptors can now be had in a new color - Ingot Silver Metallic (pictured) - and matte black accent graphics are available on the hood. These new graphics can be ordered separately from the box side decals, too. Inside the cabin, Ford now offers a standard 4.2-inch LCD display (called the "productivity screen") in the center of the revised instrument gauges, similar to what was introduced on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/super+duty">2011 Super Duty</a>.<br />
<br />
Dealers will start taking orders for 2011 Raptors as you read this with the first examples hitting dealerships later this year. Ford's detailed press release is available after the jump.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Ford F-150 SVT Raptor serves and protects</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
Aside from the recent dust-up over immigration law in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/22/autoblog-storms-into-arizona-for-the-auction-week/">Arizona</a>, we've heard very little about America's efforts on border patrol lately. Where once we heard all about fences, militia parties and night-vision, now the collective media consciousness is focused elsewhere. That doesn't mean that the challenges facing border patrol have exactly evaporated, of course. The men and women charged with keeping an eye on the line between the U.S. and Mexico still face mile upon mile of some of the most grueling terrain on the planet, which is exactly why the Yuma Sheriff went ahead and ordered up a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a> before the official government-issue fleet arrives.<br />
<br />
<em>Automobile Magazine'</em>s Eszra Dyer decided to tag along with Major Leon Wilmot to see how the truck handles itself in an official capacity and just what this border patrol business is all about. As it turns out, the majority of the operation is concerned with large expanses of sand, moon dust, non-exploded ordinance and the cleverness of a people who want nothing more to outwit American law enforcement. If you've got a hot second, click over to <em>Automobile</em> for a quick read.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><small>Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 - Click above to watch the video <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/23/hennessey-slaps-a-pair-of-turbos-on-fords-raptor-6-2-w-video/#continued">after the jump</a><br />
</small></em></strong></div>
<br />
Well of course they did. If <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/john+hennessey">John Hennessey</a> is known for anything, it's strictly adhering to the "Needs more power!" motif. This guy could watch a shuttle launch and return to his lab plotting a third booster. So yes, Hennessey has slapped two turbochargers onto Ford's batty-yet-burly F150-mutant <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/25/2010-ford-svt-raptor-6-2-first-drive/">Raptor 6.2</a> and produced the VelociRaptor 600 and 800, two products that will nicely compliment the existing <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/10/hennessey-velociraptor-500/">Hennessey VelociRaptor 500</a>, a supercharged version of the Raptor 5.4. <br />
<br />
Through the magic of forced induction, power grows from the 6.2-liter V8 Raptor's stock 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque to a slightly-goofy 602 hp and 622 lb-ft of twist in the V-Rap 600. Not enough for you? Hennessey either, which is why he's also selling the VelociRaptor 800. Get all the liquids out of your mouth now, as the engine stonks it up to the Texas-sized tune of <em>810 hp</em> and <em>745 lb-ft of torque</em>. Can we borrow an exclamation point?<br />
<br />
We know what you're thinking -- the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/24/2011-bentley-mulsanne-first-drive/">Bentley Mulsane's</a> twin-turbo V8 makes 752 pound-feet of torque, besting the Hennessey 800 by seven pounds of twisting force. However, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 800 makes 305 more ponies than the British thoroughbred, weighs less (what doesn't?) and can keep up with the hounds no matter the fox hunt. That said, the Muslanne has a nicer interior. Think we're being silly? We <em>are</em>, because engines like this bend our minds a bit. Remember, 810 hp is nearly 100 hp <em>more </em>than a Ferrari 599XX. <br />
<br />
But what if you already have a Raptor 6.2, want more power but don't want two turbochargers? Again, no problem, as Hennessey is also announcing the VelociRaptor 475, that through better breathing and some reprogramming, ups the big V8's output to 475 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque. Dang. Watch the video <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/23/hennessey-slaps-a-pair-of-turbos-on-fords-raptor-6-2-w-video/#continued">after the jump</a>.<br />

<br />
<div>Last week <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/20/video-hennessey-gets-fords-svt-raptor-6-2-liter-rippin-on-a-d/">we told you</a> about Hennessey's dyno test of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">Ford Raptor</a> with the new 6.2-liter V8, which yielded 326 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque at the rear wheels. That's a 19.5 percent drivetrain loss from the 411 hp and 434 lb-ft Ford tells us we can expect at the flywheel. We'd typically only post one SVT Raptor dyno post, but our friends over at Pickuptrucks.com also dynoed Ford's off-roading superstar, with substantially different results. <br />
<br />
Mike Levine and company traveled to K&amp;N Air Filters in Riverside, California to dyno the Raptor, and came away with totals of 344 hp and 361 lb-ft. at the wheel. That's 18 more ponies and pound-feet than the Hennessey dyno run; an increase of about six percent. Further, Pickuptrucks.com says it ran its tests on 87 octane, which reportedly lowers the 6.2's flywheel power numbers from 411 hp to 401 hp. K&amp;N's dyno showed a drivetrain loss of about 16 percent.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>While neither power number is likely to disappoint when behind the wheel, it's nice to know that Hennessey's power numbers look to be at the low end of the spectrum. Perhaps that means the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/10/hennessey-velociraptor-500/"><font color="#0000ff">500 horsepower VelociRaptor</font></a> is more like the 525 or 550 horsepower VelociRaptor. <br />
The 6.2-liter V8-powered <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-is-a-diamond-on-the-roug/">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a> went on sale less than two weeks ago and Ford tells us that it already has <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/09/ford-raptor-6-2-liter-goes-on-sale-nearly-3-000-already-ordered/">3,000 orders</a> signed, sealed and awaiting delivery. While that would spell disaster for the Blue Oval if we were talking about the run-of-the-mill F-150, we're talking about a purpose-built performance truck brandishing Fox shocks and massive 35-inch tires. Given the vehicle's niche audience, those kind of early sales numbers have Ford officials pretty excited. Make no mistake, the reason for all that interest has everything to do with the extra 91 horsepower under the Raptor's beefy hood, and the folks at Hennessey dyno'd the Little Mule to see just how much power transfers to those massive rear wheels. If you're wondering why Hennessey is interested in the Raptor, remember that the super tuner announced the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/10/hennessey-velociraptor-500/">500 horsepower VelociRaptor</a> back in February.<br />
<br />
The post-jump video shows that, on the Hennessey dyno, the Raptor managed 326 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque. Keep in mind that the 326 ponies are measured at the rear wheels, where drivetrain losses zap power. Ford quotes 411 hp and 434 lb-ft at the flywheel, which means the vehicle Hennessey dyno'd experienced a 19.5 percent loss from the flywheel to the rear wheels. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/20/video-hennessey-gets-fords-svt-raptor-6-2-liter-rippin-on-a-d/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to watch the video, which includes a zero-to-60 time of less than eight seconds.<br />

<br />
Do we even need to say again that we love the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a>? No? All right. But we do. Anyway, if we can't be actually driving the thing, what we'll take after that is someone else properly driving it and getting high-def video, especially if said footage involves jumps. <br />
<br />
The folks at <em>Kelley Blue Book</em> have filmed just such a video, in which it offers nine suggestions of the things you should definitely do in one, and while our favorite is jumping, we wouldn't mind trying out Tip #6: Drive it like we're being chased by murderous robots. Since that one will probably come true. Rather soon. And we could use some practice. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/16/video-kbb-gets-down-dirty-and-airborn-with-the-ford-raptor/#continued">Follow the jump</a> for the vid.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> While we wholeheartedly love the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">F-150 SVT Rapto</a>r, part of us wondered whether there'd be many takers for a $40,000 truck that was purpose-built for the sand dunes. Looks like we needn't have worried, as it appears demand is very strong for the Raptor. In fact, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/ford/">Ford</a> had its flacks issue a press release bragging about just how successful the Raptor's been so far. The factory super-truck has reportedly found 5,300 takers to date, and F-150 marketing manager Mark Grueber says Raptor "is so popular that we actually wound up building more 5.4-liter V-8 models than we had originally anticipated."<br /> <br /> The reason Ford thought customers might be interested in waiting to pull the trigger on a Raptor is the spring availability of the Dearborn, MI-based automaker's new 6.2-liter V8 engine. The new 6.2 promises 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque, or 91 more ponies than the soon-to-be-mothballed 5.4. Ford's already taking orders for the 6.2-liter model, and we're thinking they'll only increase in number over the coming weeks and months.<br /> <br /> After filling out 5,300 orders, Ford also has a better idea of which amenities customers want in their Raptors, and the content story is a good one for the automaker. Ford reports that customers are checking option boxes for the luxury package, reverse-sensing camera and moonroof at a rate of at least 79 percent. Ford's expensive but fantastic touchscreen navigation with SIRIUS Travel Link[TM] is being chosen in 62 percent of Raptors sold. And while we loved the Raptor in Molten Orange, 52 percent of customers are opting for Tuxedo Black. Hit the jump pore over Ford's bragfest press release.<br /> <br /> [Source: Ford]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/20/ford-svt-raptor-outselling-estimates-black-most-popular-color/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford SVT Raptor outselling estimates, black most popular color</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/20/ford-svt-raptor-outselling-estimates-black-most-popular-color/">Ford SVT Raptor outselling estimates, black most popular color</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 20 Feb 2010 12:18:00 EST. <br />
We love award season, even if it is a bit tough to keep up with them all. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/17/ford-fusion-car-of-the-year-motor-trend/"><em>Motor Trend</em></a><em> </em>has a set of golden calipers for its Car, Truck and SUV of the Year winners. <em>Car and Driver </em>has its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/24/image-car-and-driver-announces-2010-10best-cars/">10Best</a>. <em>Automobile</em> has the, well, the Automobile of the Year. Then there's Edmunds Inside Line and its six Most Wanted winners. Sure, Most Wanted doesn't enjoy the same sort of name recognition as the aforementioned awards, but at the very least, we tend to like the vehicles IL picks as their favorites. We also appreciate the fact that their selection process isn't exactly chock-full of rules. If they tested the vehicle before November 1, 2009, then it's eligible for Inside Line's six shooter. The only award category that truly stands out is the "Instant Classic," an award won over the last two years by the Audi R8 and the Nissan GT-R, respectively. <br />
<br />
This year's list didn't have quite the raw power of <a href="http://www.insideline.com/mercedes-benz/s-class/2009/2009-edmunds-inside-line-editors-most-wanted-awards.html">last year's winners</a>, but we can definitely see where the final six could be considered big fun on four wheels. The big winner is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/shelby+gt500">2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500</a>. The 540-horsepower pony car picked up IL's Instant Classic award for being such a willing dance partner - even at 3,900 pounds. In fact, Blue Oval badges dominate this year's Most Wanted list, as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/12/2010-ford-flex-ecoboost-review/">EcoBoost'd Flex</a> and the wicked cool <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">F-150 SVT Raptor</a> made the final cut. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche/">Porsche</a> scored with its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/panamera">Panamera</a>, while <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/audi/">Audi</a> found its way back on the list with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/r8">R8 V10</a>. The cheap thrills <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/mazda3">Mazda3</a> rounds out this year's list. Click on the gallery below to check out Inside Line's Most Wanted winners in our high-res gallery, then let us know if you agree with their findings by leaving a note in 'Comments.'<br />

<br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/f-150+svt+raptor">Ford SVT Raptor</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/x6+m">BMW X6</a> M are alike in that both vehicles represent the most extreme versions of their base forms. The Raptor, with its the triple-bypass Fox shocks and 35-inch tires, is a Baja-ready version of the F-150 right off the showroom floor. Meanwhile, the BMW X6 M is the 550-horsepower speed-demon version of the mild-mannered X6 luxury crossover. The two rides have little in common other than their extreme, top-tier positioning, yet 0-60 Magazine has found a way to put the two together for its Winter 2010 issue.<br />
<br />
We don't know what the gang at 0-60 actually did with the Raptor and the X6 M, but the magazine has managed to slap together a teaser video to whet the palette. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/01/video-0-60-pits-ford-raptor-against-bmw-x6-m-in-winter-issue/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to watch 0-60 have a bit of fun with the X6 M and the SVT Raptor. And if you're not a big fan of the vid, you can simply sit back and enjoy the 1:21-minute excerpt of Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" that sets the aural backdrop to the onscreen mayhem.<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/22/sema-preview-will-chevy-debut-its-own-svt-raptor-fighter/"><img hspace="4" vspace="4" align="right" border="1" alt="" class="right border" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/chevysilveradobaja2_opt.jpg" /></a>When gas prices spiked and automakers began focusing more attention on fuel efficient cars and crossovers, we began wondering if the pickup truck's best days were behind it. The next big blow came when domestic automakers began postponing or canceling development of light-duty diesel engines for their half-ton trucks. Then, when things were at their bleakest, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/f-150+svt+raptor">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a> arrived. The SVT-badged baja bruiser is one serious piece of hardware, with unique Fox struts and 35-inch rubber.<br />
<br />
With the overwhelmingly positive reaction that the Raptor has received, we've been wondering if General Motors, Chrysler or even Toyota would follow suit with their own sand monster. After seeing a Camaro video posted by Chevrolet on YouTube, we may have evidence that it's a strong possibility. <br />
<br />
The purpose of the video is to showcase several new Camaro graphics packages that will appear at SEMA next month, but anyone can see the pair of pics in the upper right hand corner that show a bad ass green machine dressed up in a bow tie and sporting six-spoke wheels. The hopped-up Silverado is lifted to within an inch of its life with highly flared wheel wells to corral all that rubber, but it's hard to tell if the mods are more for show than actual dune diving. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/22/sema-preview-will-chevy-debut-its-own-svt-raptor-fighter/">Hit the jump</a> to check out the video, and clap twice out loud if you want Chevy to take on Ford's Raptor.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor under the skin - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> In stock form, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is one of the most impressive bits of machinery available from any automaker extant. We've managed to snag some seat time in one a couple of times now, and each time we've walked away <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-is-a-diamond-on-the-roug/">mightily impressed</a>. But just what is it that makes the off-road-ready supertruck so good? It's not the powertrain, it's the suspension.<br /> <br /> While we've offered a basic walkaround of what makes the Raptor tick, the chaps at Inside Line took it upon themselves to delve a bit deeper into the mystery of the truck's cushy pogo sticks. Chief among the updates that turn an ordinary mild-mannered F-150 into a fire-breathing desert runner are the beautiful cast aluminum lower control arms and the special inverted Fox Racing Shocks with remote reservoirs.<br /> <br /> Also worth noting are the 13.8-inch ventilated brake rotors with dual-piston sliding calipers and the beefy 17-inch wheels wrapped in LT315/70R17 All-Terrain tires from BFGoodrich. Add it all up and you've got yourself $38,995 worth of eminently capable pickup goodness - and a hearty "attaboy" for Ford's SVT engineers.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor">First Drive: 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/2010raptor_firstdrive002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010raptor_firstdrive002" title="2010raptor_firstdrive002" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/2010raptor_firstdrive001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010raptor_firstdrive001" title="2010raptor_firstdrive001" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/2010raptor_firstdrive000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010raptor_firstdrive000" title="2010raptor_firstdrive000" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/2010raptor_firstdrive003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010raptor_firstdrive003" title="2010raptor_firstdrive003" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/2010raptor_firstdrive004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010raptor_firstdrive004" title="2010raptor_firstdrive004" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2009/10/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-suspension-walkaround.html">Inside Line</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/14/ford-f-150-svt-raptor-gets-suspension-explained-by-il/">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor gets suspension explained by IL</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Oct 2009 09:30:00 EST. Well... nothing as far as we're concerned. But there are roomier things than a Raptor, and Ford looks like it will shortly be addressing that end of the equation. The Blue Oval has received requests for a crew cab version of its new desert-eating monster, and spy shots appear to confirm that the Dearborn automaker has designs on making a proper four-door version.<br />
<br />
That added interior space figures to balloon the wheelbase to 145 inches, but for those who need the capacity more than they need to blitzkrieg the outdoors, the move makes sense. PickupTrucks.com expects that we'll see the bigger Raptor at next year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Chicago-Auto-Show/">Chicago Auto Show</a> as a 2011 model, and doesn't expect the 5.4 liter to be an option.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><small>2010 Ford F150 SVT Raptor - Click above image for high-res gallery</small></em></strong></div>
<br /> Very few people have ridden in Ford's upcoming Raptor; we have. And allow us to tell you what: it's astonishing. Perhaps the single most impressive production vehicle <em>ever</em>, even if the prototypes we rode shotgun in were only 90% complete. That good, really? Yes, truly. Imagine bounding across the Nevada desert at 100 mph (fuel cutoff) and then leaping 45 feet through the air, landing, and doing it again and again and again. That is the magic of SVT and their Raptor.<br /> <br /> With that in mind, what government agency could make use of such a steroidal, hardcore truck? No, not FEMA. Exactly, the Border Patrol. We can think of no vehicle more suited to running down a gang of coyotes that Ford's uber-off roader. After all, the SVT Raptor was developed in the grueling deserts of Southern California and Northern Mexico, the Boarder Patrol's home turf. And with 11.2 inches of gas-shock suspension travel in the front and 13.4 inches out back, there is very little - if anything - that will slow this beast down. <br /> <br /> The Customs and Border Protection division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security reportedly wants at least ten of these monsters. Pickuptrucks.com indicates that the government's purchasing agents are requesting bare bones work interiors instead of the fancy leather and Synced up cockpits found in the consumer models. In our estimation, this change would only serve to make the Raptor even more functional and/or intimidating. No word on whether the Feds would like to go for the 5.4-liter Triton V8, or the much more powerful all-new 6.2-liter V8. Either way, keep an eye peeled if you need to make a run for the border.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-live-reveal">SEMA 2008: Ford F-150 SVT Raptor LIVE</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-live-reveal/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorlive_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-live-reveal/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorlive_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-live-reveal/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorlive_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-live-reveal/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorlive_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-live-reveal/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorlive_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/08/sources-say-us-border-patrol-considering-ford-f150-svt-raptor.html#more">Pickuptrucks.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/07/report-u-s-border-patrol-considering-ford-f150-svt-raptor/">REPORT: U.S. Border Patrol considering Ford F150 SVT Raptor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Aug 2009 10:58:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><small style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Raptor: Born in Baja -- Click above <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/review-raptor-born-in-baja-is-em-rocky-em-for-pickup-truck/">to watch video</a></small><br /></div>
<br />Autoblog went to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/19/ford-raptor-stars-in-raptor-born-in-baja-feature-documentary/">the premiere of <span style="font-style: italic;">Raptor - Born in Baja</span></a>, and while the film is on the long side, it's an enjoyable flick. We wrote before that the truck "only" came in third (out of four total trucks in Class 8), but to finish the Baja 1000 at all is an achievement -- especially when the overall attrition rate is close to 50%. Throw in a truck that had been built in three months and hadn't been tested in any other race before and you've got a little adventure on your hands.<br /><br />The movie provides plenty more. There's never a good time for things to break, but the Raptor R chose a couple of the most abysmal moments to get sick: it was compelling irony to watch the whole race team wearing "Built Ford Tough" t-shirts gathered around a truck that wouldn't start 90 minutes before the race began. <br /><br />And if it wasn't the Raptor, it was other trucks in the road holding things up. Still, not only did they get it started, but the Raptor R got to the end with all of its panels and, as far as we could see, no dents -- and it came within minutes of taking second place. <br /><br />But you'll have to watch the movie to truly glimpse the eye of the tiger... and the thrill of the fight. You can view it on Speed TV on Sunday, July 12 at 4 p.m. EST -- and when you do, look for Pickuptrucks.com's Mike Levine, Jalopnik's Ray Wert, and our own Drew Phillips who make cameos during the SEMA coverage. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/review-raptor-born-in-baja-is-em-rocky-em-for-pickup-truck/">after the jump</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/raptor-born-in-baja">Raptor - Born in Baja</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/raptor-born-in-baja/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/01_raptor_born_in_baja_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/raptor-born-in-baja/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/02_raptor_born_in_baja_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/raptor-born-in-baja/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/03_raptor_born_in_baja_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/review-raptor-born-in-baja-is-em-rocky-em-for-pickup-truck/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Quick Review: <i>Raptor - Born in Baja</i> is <em>Rocky</em> for pickup trucks</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/review-raptor-born-in-baja-is-em-rocky-em-for-pickup-truck/">Quick Review: <i>Raptor - Born in Baja</i> is <em>Rocky</em> for pickup trucks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 26 Jun 2009 18:01:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Packing more badass than a gang of werewolf bikers on mescaline, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor does not require you to be a truck guy to appreciate its purpose. The bold styling, mile-high suspension and big V8 engine under the hood ensure the Raptor stands apart from the rest of the pick-up crowd. But now our man <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/video-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-explained-by-mike-levine/">Mike Levine over at PickupTrucks.com</a> reports that Ford could be considering extending the Raptor's passenger compartment to give it a full four-door crew cab.<br /><br />The news comes right from the mouth of F-150 marketing manager Mark Grueber, who revealed to Levine that FoMoCo has already received more than 1,000 orders for the new Raptor, but that they've come accompanied by requests from customers for a full crew-cab with four full-sized doors. The increased wheelbase would undoubtedly compromise the vehicle's off-road performance, but is Ford about to tell that to customers waiving fistfuls of cash? Guess we'll have to wait and find out.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor">2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/06/ford-receiving-requests-for-crew-cab-svt-raptor-f150.html">PickupTrucks.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/24/the-more-the-merrier-ford-considering-crew-cab-raptor/">The More, the Merrier: Ford considering crew cab Raptor?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 24 Jun 2009 17:30:00 EST. <br />The Ford F-150 SVT <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Raptor/">Raptor</a> has just finished its close-up, and pretty soon you'll be able to see it on both the big screen in "Raptor - Born in Baja". The Blue Oval took its factory-built off-road runner to the Baja 1000 last year and documented the entire build and the race. The documentary is like <em><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Truthin24/">Truth in 24</a></em>, but with trucks and lots of dirt, and the Raptor only finished third in its Class 8 division (full-sized 2-wheel-drive), but that's not bad for a team that had only three months to complete the build.<br /><br />The movie will premiere in Hollywood on June 23 at the Egyptian Theater, and then air on Speed TV a few weeks later. For now, you can check out the trailer <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/19/ford-raptor-stars-in-raptor-born-in-baja-feature-documentary/">after the jump</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor">2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Ford]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/19/ford-raptor-stars-in-raptor-born-in-baja-feature-documentary/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Ford releases trailer for "Raptor: Born in Baja" feature documentary</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/19/ford-raptor-stars-in-raptor-born-in-baja-feature-documentary/">VIDEO: Ford releases trailer for "Raptor: Born in Baja" feature documentary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 19 Jun 2009 15:32:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the F-150 Raptor driving simulator</small></span><br /></div>
<br />Ford is looking to drum up some extra interest in its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-unveiled-in-its-natural-environ/">F-150 SVT Raptor</a> off-road specialist ahead of its actual on-sale date (which is still only listed as "coming soon") with the introduction of a new dedicated microsite that you can <a href="http://www.fordvehicles.com/f150raptor/">check out here</a>. Features on the new web destination include a place to learn what makes the Raptor different from the rest of the F-150 lineup, along with videos, a gallery and an online tool to build your own.<br /><br />Still not enough to whet your appetite? According to Brian Bell, Ford's F-150 consumer marketing manager, "We want people to understand the unique capability of this truck, that it can do things that other trucks just can't." To that end, Ford has been bringing an off-road driving simulator to the assorted U.S. auto shows that we've been following over the last few months, and the Blue Oval will evidently continue doing this on through the rest of the 2009 circuit. Give it a shot, it's good fun.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-f-150-svt-raptor-driving-simulator">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor driving simulator</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-f-150-svt-raptor-driving-simulator/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/raptorsimul_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-f-150-svt-raptor-driving-simulator/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/raptorsimul_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-f-150-svt-raptor-driving-simulator/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/raptorsimul_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-f-150-svt-raptor-driving-simulator/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/raptorsimul_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-f-150-svt-raptor-driving-simulator/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/raptorsite_gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor">2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-f-150-svt-raptor/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fordsvtraptorpress_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Ford]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/06/digital-dirt-ford-raptor-gets-new-microsite/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Here's Mud In Your Eye: Ford Raptor gets new microsite</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/06/digital-dirt-ford-raptor-gets-new-microsite/">Here's Mud In Your Eye: Ford Raptor gets new microsite</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 06 Mar 2009 19:28:00 EST. <br />When it comes to all things pickup trucks, Mike Levine from <a href="http://www.pickuptrucks.com/index.html">PickupTrucks.com</a> is the man, bar none. He's got the first video report on the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/sema-2008-ford-f-150-svt-raptor-unveiled-in-its-natural-environ/">Ford F-150 SVT Raptor</a> and goes into far greater detail about the truck's special bits than we ever could. The Raptor, of course, is the latest product from the SVT crew and it's fully off-road ready. This beast is unlike the previous F-150 SVT Lightning, which blended lots of horsepower with a strictly on-road suspension set up. SVT seems to have realized that a pickup truck will never be a sports car and vice versa, so they set up the Raptor with new heavy duty suspension mounts, unique suspension arms and new Fox racing remote reservoir dampers. The SVT Raptor will be launched with the current 5.4L V8 underhood, although the 6.2L "Boss" V8 should be available as an option by the end of '09. The interior is fitted with all kinds of special bits and from the outside the Raptor will be instantly recognizable thanks to a unique grille and flared out fenders.
