Apparently, the world's population of talking frogs have turned their allegiance from Budweiser and are now shilling for Ford of Australia. At least, those that haven't been smashed into great green globs of greasy, grimy cane toad guts.

Let's set the scene: A pair of Australian cane toads - the species, native to Central and South America, was imported into Australia in an unsuccessful attempt to control Beetle populations - are having a nighttime chat on a random road somewhere in Oz. The subject matter ranges from the tastiness and arousing properties of the toads' own back secretions to the velocity with which a four-cylinder car can travel. In this case, the car is powered by one of Ford's turbocharged EcoBoost engines.

And then... disaster strikes. It's certainly an odd advertisement, but at least it's unique. Oh, and if you're a member of PETA, you might want to look away. See for yourself by scrolling down below.
Continue reading Ford's EcoBoost is a toad-killing powerhouse

Ford's EcoBoost is a toad-killing powerhouse originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 04 May 2012 19:58:00 EST. Ford has finally unleashed information on the production version of the 2011 Territory, giving us all the skinny on what Australian buyers can look forward to when the crossover hits showrooms this May. The party gets started with an all-new exterior that makes use of Ford's kudzu-like kinetic design language. The Territory now wears a fascia that's reminiscent of the new global Focus and more than a few Aston Martin products, and the rear produces a cohesive look thanks to integrated glass in the rear quarters and hatch.

The Territory will be available in three configurations when it lands: TX, TS and Titanium and while there's preciously little information available about what will power those machines, we do know that a diesel mill will find its way under the hood. There's also some indication that the CUV won't be available with a manual transmission no matter what engine you opt for.

Inside, Ford has graced the new Territory with an interior that borrows a bit from the Falcon. A large LCD touch screen dominates the dash, and the center stack looks to be cleanly designed. Hit the jump for the full press release.

We're still smarting over the fact that American buyers won't get a chance to sample the goodness that is the new global Ford Ranger, and now the guys and gals at the Blue Oval have set about salting that wound. The company's engineers decided to show off exactly how powerful the little truck is, so they strapped it to a 160-ton locomotive and pulled the engine out of its berth. The Ranger came packing its TDCi diesel 3.2-liter inline five-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. Bolted to a six-speed automatic transmission and equipped with a low-range transfer case, the pickup appears to have no problem lugging the T-class diesel-electric locomotive out of storage.

After watching the video, we've got to agree with the decision makers at Ford. Absolutely no one on this side of the world would ever want a small diesel pickup truck with a towing capacity of over 6,600 lbs. We're not bitter. Honest. Hit the jump to check out the clip for yourself. Hat tip to The Typical Guy!
