Ford has officially served up the details on the upcoming 2013 F-Series Super Duty. Buyers will be able to snap up the latest work rig with in a new Platinum trim level that throws in niceties like SYNC, MyFord Touch, navigation and a rear-view camera as standard equipment. Power telescoping mirrors are also part of the package.

Unfortunately, the Platinum trim will only be available in Super Duty Crew Cab configuration. Even so, the cabin is swaddled in high-quality wood grain trim and premium leather seating. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is also heated for those really frosty mornings.

Outside, a smattering of chrome trim work sets the 2013 F-Series Super Duty Platinum apart from the rest of the trucks on the job site. Chrome door handles, mirror caps and running boards all add a bit of splash, as do the sizable 20-inch wheels that are newly designed for 2013.

Ford says the MyFord Touch at work in the new Super Duty is truck specific with features like a massive eight-inch touch screen display which has been optimized to function even when users are wearing thick work gloves. See below for the full press release as well as a brief video.
Continue reading Ford unveils 2013 F-Series Super Duty, now with Platinum [w/video]

Ford unveils 2013 F-Series Super Duty, now with Platinum [w/video] originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 09 Mar 2012 10:33:00 EST. The trucks range from slammed machines from the likes of Godfather Customs and The Custom Shop to a rock-crawling behemoth built by the minds at Mickey Thompson. There's even a mobile pit station based on the F-150's big brother, F-350. That machine has been built by Cars by Kris and Airhead Kustoms.

Judging from what we've seen so far, our favorite of the bunch has to be the wicked F-350 built by Skyjacker Suspensions. The truck wears a full 8.5-inches of suspension lift, massive Fab Fours bumpers front and rear and a Warn wench for pulling lesser machines from sticky situations. Sounds like a good time to us. Hit the jump for the full press release.

It's a guy thing. Tim Allen understands. If you've got a job to do, you need the right tool. As guy logic goes, the bigger and more powerful the tool, the better.

If what you do requires a tool shaped like a truck, then you're currently experiencing a nirvana-like period in history. In just the last few months, Chrysler and General Motors introduced their new heavy-duty trucks. We drove the 2010 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in October and liked it. We also saw the Chevrolet and GMC HDs at the Chicago Auto Show last month. Although we've yet to get behind the wheel, the powertrain and chassis improvements appear promising.

Not to be left out, Ford's rolling introduction of its latest F-Series Super Duty just culminated with an Arizona-based press-only driving event (we first reported on the new truck in September). Want to know everything about Ford's big, new tool? For starters, the blue oval on the grille measures 13 inches. Believe it or not, there's more. Find out after the jump.

2011 Ford Super Duty - Click above for high-res image gallery

We know a whole heck of a lot about Ford's new 2011 F-Series Super Duty pickup truck lineup, but there are a number of important details that we're still waiting to be revealed. For instance, we know that it will come with an optional 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 engine that's capable of running on B20 biodiesel, but we don't know how much power it will produce.

As is the case with most new model launches, we're pretty sure the 2011 Super Duty will cost more than the truck it replaces, but we don't know by how much. Or do we? According to a report from Automotive News, citing "a dealer and a source familiar with the program," the 2011 F-Series Super Duty will carry a base price of $28,995.

If true, that would put the new truck exactly $2,145 over the 2010 model's $26,850 asking price. If you'd like to add the powerful new diesel V8, you can tack on (according to our friends at PickupTrucks.com) about <strike>$6,500</strike> $7,835 to that baseline amount. We contacted Ford for comment and got a, "We've not yet released pricing on the new Super Duty."

In any case, as with all heavy duty pickup trucks these days, expect options to drive up the price of the new behemoth from Ford into the stratosphere rather quickly. Will it be worth it? We'll know soon enough - expect a full report on the new HD hauler from us early next month.

Interestingly, both of these new powerplants will reportedly be paired exclusively with automatic transmissions.

[Source: PickupTrucks.com]
Rendered Speculation: 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty looks beefy, more modern originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 10:27:00 EST.
