Geiger, the German tuner with a fascination with American performance cars, generally produces modified vehicles in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/02/heavy-water-geiger-supercharges-the-hummer-h3/">not-so-subtle</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/20/geiger-gives-chevrolet-corvette-z06-the-twin-turbo-treatment/">"look at me!"</a> variations. This Ford GT encompasses both varietys, with plenty of performance upgrades to boot. Geiger has <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/12/ford-gt-gets-the-geiger-treatment-0-60-drops-to-3-5s/">previously modified the Blue Oval's retro supercar</a> and ended up with impressive results - 701 horsepower, 617 lb-ft torque, and 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. <br />
<br />
This latest version takes it one step further, and the 5.4-liter V8 now produces 790 horsepower and 637 lb-ft torque thanks to a larger 4.0-liter supercharger that replaces the stock 2.3-liter unit as well as a larger throttle body and a new air filter. Geiger claims the same 0-100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds, probably limited by traction, but top speed has been stretched to 223 mph. Hit the jump for more details on this lime green beast and browse through the high-res image gallery below.<br />

In terms of tracks, we'd guess that while the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Nurburgring/">N&uuml;rburgring</a> gets the most press, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/LagunaSeca/">Laguna Seca</a> is number two. And with good reason, as Mazda's Raceway is fast, technical, beautiful and challenging. Plus, because the famed track's in Caramel, California, you get gorgeous, picture postcard weather for ten months of the year. If not more. Then, of course, there's the famous Corkscrew, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/17/monterey-2009-ferrari-250-tr-gets-airborn-makes-friends-with-t/">all of the hijinks</a> that it ensures. <br />
<br />
So large is Laguna's legend that Sony is now using to the track to sell its newly PSP ported version of Gran Turismo, the ever popular racing game. And as far as commercials go, this is one of the few we wish were a few minutes longer. The 'vert takes place on track at Laguna Seca where a Corvette ZR1 is chasing down a Ford GT and Nissan GT-R. And is that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/18/autoblog-podcast-141/">Tanner Foust</a>? We think it is. Also, bonus points for whoever can identify the car the Blue Devil passes at the very beginning. Okay, we've stalled long enough. <br />Still grumbling over having missed the chance at buying a Ford GT when it was still in production? Well, if you've got the cash on hand, there are probably dozens of examples up for sale by owners who need the liquid assets more than they need the retro supercar. But few are as enticing at what Ford and RM Auctions have going on this August.<br /><br />At both the Meadow Brook and Monterey concours the month after next, RM will be auctioning off an early VIN example to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The sixth example produced, decked out in red with white stripes, will be on offer at Meadow Brook, with the seventh Ford GT, in white with blue stripes, up for grabs in Monterey. Each is expected to fetch between $150,000 and $200,000 for the medical research endowment, so if getting your hands on Motown's hottest piece of machinery in decades wasn't cause enough, altruism ought to do the trick. Details in the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/">Ford GT National Rally II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: RM Auctions]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/27/rm-auctioning-off-two-ford-gts-to-benefit-juvenile-diabetes-rese/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>RM auctioning off two Ford GTs to benefit juvenile diabetes research</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/27/rm-auctioning-off-two-ford-gts-to-benefit-juvenile-diabetes-rese/">RM auctioning off two Ford GTs to benefit juvenile diabetes research</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 27 Jun 2009 10:39:00 EST. <br />If you own a Lamborghini Gallardo or a Ford GT for the sole purpose of being seen around town, it's a real shame. We fail to see why 500 hp is necessary to traverse traffic on the way to the country club, yet we know from experience that being seen in a supercar doesn't suck. Even still, the real fun is found when you're driving the machine... hard. <br /><br />Back in February, a group of well-to-do car enthusiasts got together in Miami to appreciate their exotics for what they really are: fire-breathing track stars. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/09/video-exotic-runway-dancers-prove-that-even-now-the-rich-still/">Follow the jump</a> to see a two-minute video of some of the world's best and fastest supercars as they take to airport runways. If you're a fan of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Corvettes, the Ford GT or the Saleen S7, you'll see something you love going very fast. Putting 40 or 50 exotics in one video is usually enough reason to get us to watch, but the sounds from the exhausts prompted us to take a second look. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS3ztrNp-0M">YouTube</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/12/video-exotic-runway-dancers-prove-that-even-now-the-rich-still/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Exotic runway dancers prove that even now, the rich still have more fun</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/12/video-exotic-runway-dancers-prove-that-even-now-the-rich-still/">VIDEO: Exotic runway dancers prove that even now, the rich still have more fun</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 12 Mar 2009 08:58:00 EST. While no details were disclosed, Pardo confirmed he is leaving the Blue Oval and said the specifics are still being ironed out. Pardo is probably best known for designing the GT40 concept car which spawned the production Ford GT.<br /><br />While employed at Ford's advance design studio, Pardo also worked on the Thunderbird and the Lincoln LS among other things. It's rumored that he hasn't done much vehicle design work for Ford recently, being relegated to smaller tasks such as side view mirror shaping. Such a pity, although we have no doubt that this talented artist and designer will land on his feet in short order. We had a brief meeting with Camilo during last year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/05/ford-gt-national-rally-ii-stops-at-cars-and-coffee-event/">Ford GT National Rally II</a> and you can scope out the images from that day in the gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/">Ford GT National Rally II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090115/ANA02/901159989/1144">Automotive News</a>, sub. req.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/15/ford-gt-designer-camilo-pardo-leaving-the-blue-oval/">Ford GT designer, Camilo Pardo, leaving the Blue Oval</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 13:01:00 EST. <p>A big part of us dearly wanted the Blue Oval to have a factory race program for the Ford GT. Visions of four straight Le Mans victories danced in our heads, and we're sure Corvette Racing would love to have competed against someone besides themselves the past few years in ALMS. Alas, production of the GT supercar ended near the end of 2006 without so much as a single competitive lap. In the past couple years, however, a few privateer teams have tried their hands, including the Black Swan Racing and Falken, which ran in ALMS this past season. While neither had much success taking on Porsche and Ferrari in GT2, Matech Racing's three-car program dominated the European FIA GT3 by winning more than half the races and capturing the team championship in only its second year. Building on that success, Matech has announced plans to move up to GT1 next year with an upgraded version of the Ford GT race car. Hit the jump for the press release and enjoy the high-res images from Matech's 2008 season in the gallery below. <em>Thanks for the tip, Thomas!</em></p>

<p>We've become familiar with Jason Heffner's creations over the past few years, from his <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/05/wretched-excess-heffners-peformance-builds-930-whp-twin-turbo/">insanely powerful Lamborghini Gallardos</a> to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/21/video-twin-turbo-ford-gt-tops-222-mph-in-the-standing-mile/">mindblowingly fast Ford GTs</a>. For his latest project, Heffner has teamed up with Ford GT chief designer Camilo Pardo for a special edition version of the car that looks as good as it is fast. Visually, the American supercar gets a racing inspired paint scheme and graphics, flat black BBS wheels and a new rear bumper from Classic Design Concepts. Inside, the car gets a chrome shift ball, wide-shaft shifter and aluminum seat grommets. Under the bonnet, the GT is blessed with Heffner's twin-turbo treatment as well as a Camilo-designed billet aluminum intake and black valve covers. Horsepower is rated at north of 900 and the car is capable of topping 200 mph in under 20 seconds while passing through the 1/4 mile at over 150 mph. There's a press release after the jump with more details and high-res photos in the gallery below over which you have our permission to ogle. <br /></p>

</small> <br />Hennessey is perhaps more closely associated with Dodge Vipers to most people, but they also do work on Ford's late, great supercar, the Ford GT, too. What Hennessey does with the GT is sort of up to you. One option they can do is a swap, wherein the factory supercharger is removed and a pair of turbos are fitted. With additional modifications, that car can reach more than 235 mph. If it strikes you as a sacrilegious thing to do to a rare factory-supercharged car, you can keep your blower and simply add the twin turbos as well. They call that one the Ford GT1000 for the metric tonne of horsepower it produces. It can squirt from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and cover the quarter in 10.6 on its way past 240 mph. The company had one of each on hand at SEMA this year in front of the duPont Registry trailer. Decisions, decisions. We'll take one of each.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/">SEMA 2008: Hennessey Ford GTs</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/09/sema-2008-hennessey-shows-a-pair-of-turbocharged-ford-gts/">SEMA 2008: Hennessey shows a pair of turbocharged Ford GTs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 18:34:00 EST. This year, they've tweaked the suspension, upgraded the brakes front and rear, added a set of Nordskog gauges and a GPS speedometer, along with pulling a few more ponies out of the supercharged 5.4-liter V8 and sending the additional grunt through an AP Racing clutch and a lower final drive ratio. <br /><br />The Stillen Ford GT will battle it with everything from Evos to Porsches over 38 stages run on closed public roads, and according to Millen's navigator, they'll be providing updates throughout the race.<br /><br />Check out the <a href="http://blog.stillen.com/2008/09/stillen-ford-gt-to-compete-in-2008-dunlop-targa-rally/">Stillen website</a> for more, and be sure to peruse both our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt/1034175/">original gallery of the GT testing at Willow Springs</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt-08-prep/1034192/">these latest images</a>, courtesy of Stillen.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt/low/">Stillen Ford GT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/01_drew_stillen_gt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/02_drew_stillen_gt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/03_drew_stillen_gt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/04_drew_stillen_gt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/05_drew_stillen_gt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt-08-prep/low/">Stillen Ford GT '08 Prep</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt-08-prep/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/01_stillen_gt_08_prep_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt-08-prep/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/02_stillen_gt_08_prep_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt-08-prep/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/03_stillen_gt_08_prep_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt-08-prep/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/04_stillen_gt_08_prep_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/stillen-ford-gt-08-prep/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/05_stillen_gt_08_prep_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br /><strong><em><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 <a href="http://drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></em></strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/12/steven-millen-and-his-ford-gt-ready-to-run-in-dunlop-targa-rally/">Steven Millen and his Ford GT ready to run in Dunlop Targa Rally</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Sep 2008 19:28:00 EST. The original plan was to have the GT model arrive at the tail end of the current Fusion's product cycle as a low-volume, super niche send off to the successful mid-sizer before it merges with the European EUCD platform that underpins the Mondeo. The problem is that Ford is planning a big roll-out for EcoBoost engines across its brands and there may not be enough to spare for the Fusion GT. MT is now saying that the Fusion GT will debut around 2012 after the next-generation sedan debuts on the European platform and the automaker's ability to pump out turbocharged, direct-inject engines is up to speed. The good news is that the spiritual successor to the Taurus SHO has not been cancelled altogether, and by 2012 we should be able to drive it. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.motortrend.com/index.html">Motor Trend</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/02/ford-delays-340-hp-fusion-gt-to-2012/">Ford delays 340-hp Fusion GT to 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 16:58:00 EST. <p>The Ford GT went from concept to production in record time thanks to companies like ROUSH and Saleen that have niche manufacturing capabilities. Saleen handled the assembly of the GT in its 200,000-sq ft facility in Troy, MI, and whether it was part of the deal or just a thank you from Ford, Steve Saleen ended up owning a pre-production Ford GT, one of only nine built. There are some differences from the production version, including a 4.6-liter Mustang Cobra V8 that has been bored out to 5.4-liters, as well as a unique supercharger system made specifically for the car. The bad news is that its pre-production status means it can't be registered as a street legal vehicle, so this Ford GT will most likely be relegated to a collector's garage.</p>

We always hope the details that make a a concept a show-stopper carry over after the suits give the green light, and when we're talking about a six-figure halo supercar, we're usually not terribly disappointed. Case in point is the Ford GT, which managed the transition from concept to reality without losing much along the way at all.</p>
<p>In one (relatively minor) concession to reality, however, those deliciously retro little aluminum rings that adorned the bucket seats were axed (see right). Authenticity-fetishists who happen to own a Ford GT can rejoice as Canadian aftermarket firm ExotiCARe has come out with a simple solution. Their easy-to-install kit includes 50 anodized aluminum seat rings to give your Ford GT that fresh-off-the-show-stand retro look. You can order a set for $265 off their website, just follow the link. <em>Thanks for the tip, Andrew!</em></p>

Buyers were more than happy to accept a limited edition Ford supercar, but many owners were less than thrilled with Ford's corporate key and fob. While it sounds a bit petty, sharing a key with an F-150 just doesn't scream exotic track star. <br /><br />The creative key kit crafters over at ExotiCARe have remedied the situation with a limited edition kit that turns your pedestrian keys into a car starter worthy of a Ford GT. The easy to install kit is nothing more than silver-finish covers for your existing keys, which doesn't exactly seem like $295 well-spent, but for those who can afford a $175,000 sports car it may be a deal. ExotiCARe is only making 350 of the kits, so there is an exclusivity factor, as well. Is $295 too much for nothing more than key decoration that you have to assemble yourself? You tell us after the jump.<em> Thanks for the tip, Andrew!</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/key-for-d-gt/low/">KEY FOR-D-GT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/key-for-d-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/gt-key2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/key-for-d-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/gt-key1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/key-for-d-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/gt-key5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/key-for-d-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/gt-key4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/key-for-d-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/gt-key3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.exoticare.ca/keyfordgt/">ExotiCARe</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/08/key-for-d-gt-kit-fixes-ford-supercars-only-fault/">KEY FOR-D-GT kit fixes Ford supercar's only fault</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 08 May 2008 18:13:00 EST. But although it was built to show up the Italian greats in tribute to a race car that did the same decades prior, the Ford GT remains an undeniably cool car, a supercar that seems to have been milled from a solid block of billet aluminum. Unfortunately, Ford stopped building them over a year ago, leaving the myriad special-edition Mustangs to fight it out for the top of the Blue Oval totem pole. But the market holds plenty of GTs for those still looking for the butchest sportscar around. <br /><br />This, however, is significantly more special: a 2006 Ford GT, black on black with white racing stripes. The car is brand new with only 39 miles on the odometer and has never been titled, which would make the lucky buyer the original owner despite the car being long out of production. If that still hasn't enticed you, check (a) your pulse and (b) the struts over the engine, where you'll find the signature of one Steve Saleen, the legendary Ford tuner whose company was partly responsible for the GT's assembly. With the highest of 18 bids sitting at $189,000 and less than two days to go before the auction ends, interested parties better start bidding to hit the undisclosed reserve price. <em>Thanks for the tips, everyone!<br /></em><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-vin-1fafp90s86y400903/low/">Ford GT - VIN 1FAFP90S86Y400903</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-vin-1fafp90s86y400903/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/f467_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-vin-1fafp90s86y400903/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/f457_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-vin-1fafp90s86y400903/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/f449_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-vin-1fafp90s86y400903/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/f42d_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-vin-1fafp90s86y400903/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/f41e_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;ih=008&amp;sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&amp;viewitem=&amp;item=180225780564&amp;rd=1">eBay Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/26/ebay-find-of-the-day-2006-ford-gt-untitled-signed-by-steve-sa/">eBay Find of the Day: 2006 Ford GT, untitled, signed by Steve Saleen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 26 Mar 2008 14:31:00 EST. The 720 Mirage spells out its claim to fame in its name, with 720 horses coaxed from the modified V8. Utilizing a larger Whipple supercharger, an Accufab throttle body, inlet sleeve and X-pipe exhaust, the 720 unleashes its namesake at 6,950 rpm, with peak torque output of 627 lb.-ft. coming on at 4,800 rpm. The suspension has been modified with KW Variant 3 adjustable coilovers that drop the limited edition whip by 25mm, while AP six-piston calipers clamp onto drilled and slotted rotors courtesy of Stillen. There's no word on pricing, but we'd guess that if you tacked on a few more zeros to the GT's 220 mph top speed, you'd be pretty close to the sticker.<br /><br />[Source: Avro Motor Cars via <a href="http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080314.015/avros-720-mirage-ford-gt">WCF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/14/avro-releasing-limited-edition-720-mirage-ford-gt/">Avro releasing limited-edition 720 Mirage Ford GT</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 14 Mar 2008 19:31:00 EST. Over two years of production, the plan was to make 600 total cars available. 100 would be SEMA Edition replicas of the Valencia Orange show car shown above and in the attached gallery. The other 500 would be regular customer cars. According to Gennadi, only 100 cars or so have been ordered and completed, and whatever the number stands at when orders are officially ended on August 31, 2008 will be the final production run. The SEMA editions, in addition to the roof conversion, also received a host of additional upgrades including racing seats, adjustable shocks, Wilwood brakes, a power boost to 700 horses, a hidden rear bumper, and other some interior tweaks, too. Incidentally, we recently saw one of the finished customer cars (it sported the Tungsten paint job) in Greenwich, CT not long ago. With the roof in place, it can easily be mistaken for a "garden variety" GT -- which we would have done if not for the GTX1 labeling aft of the front wheel. Little did we know that it was one of a much smaller group than Gennadi probably anticipated building. If you've got a Ford GT and a hankering for an arier experience, you've got until August to let Gennadi have its way with it.<br /><br />[Source: Gennadi Design Group]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gtx1/low/">Ford GTX1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gtx1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/ford_gtx1_1280_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gtx1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/ford_gtx1_1280_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gtx1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/ford_gtx1_1280_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gtx1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/ford_gtx1_1280_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gtx1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/ford_gtx1_1280_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/06/ford-gtx1-production-comes-to-an-end/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford GTX1 production comes to an end</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/06/ford-gtx1-production-comes-to-an-end/">Ford GTX1 production comes to an end</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 06 Jan 2008 20:22:00 EST. While representatives from Saleen would not officially comment as to what is in the photo, our best guess is that they are looking to put to use their knowledge and experience gained from the construction of the Ford GT for Ford. In fact, with the GT no longer in production, a car similar to the Ford GT might be exactly what Saleen is shooting for. After all, they have the facility in which the GT was built, the father of the Ford GT, Chris Theodore, is now Saleen's chief technology officer, and they gained a wealth of experience building a new car from scratch with the S7 program. Theodore has even hinted at the possibility of an all-new Saleen. "I have many ideas," he stated to <a href="http://www.thecarconnection.com/Auto_News/Daily_Auto_News/Saleen_Goes_Extreme_With_Latest_Stang.S173.A13650.html">TheCarConnection.com</a>, "and some of them are inspired by the Ford GT. That car sold very well for around $150,000. So why not think in that direction when we talk about a new supercar? May be an S3 or an S5?" We can only hope.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/28/spied-saleen-developing-all-new-sports-car/">Spied! <p>Anything that can top out above 200 mph is a pretty fast car, but one that can do it from a standing start within a mile is an insanely fast car. This twin-turbo Ford GT modified by Jason Heffner of <a href="http://www.heffnersperformance.com/fordgt850turbopackage.htm">Heffner's Performance</a> not only does that, but exceeds 222 mph at the one-mile mark. This thankfully wasn't done on public roads, but at the Goliad Industrial Air Park during the bi-annual <a href="http://www.texasmile.com/">Texas Mile</a> event. </p>
<p>The driver makes a total of four runs, starting with a 215-mph pass followed up by a 222.2-mph run. The third attempt doesn't go so well as the tires are overwhelmed by the car's torque and it goes off course into the dirt, but the fourth run is a success, and the 222 mph mark is reached again. Follow the jump to see this display of massive horsepower run amok.</p>

When it went into production in 2003, all of those kit cars from back in the day suddenly paled in comparison to a genuine GT40-inspired supercar. It was a relative bargain, too. Of course, when we say relative bargain, we mean expensive. Always willing to settle, we've found a way to claim with a straight face that we own a GT. It's still not cheap, but it's hundreds, not hundreds of thousands. Winding Road has pointed us to the 1:6 scale remote control Ford GT over at <a href="http://www.wowzzers.com/product_info.php?products_id=395">wowzzers.com</a>. Equipped with a 23cc engine, this three-plus foot long vehicle can buzz around at a maximum speed around 60 mph. Christmas is coming, and it's only $650. <br /><br />[Source: Winding Road]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/27/a-ford-gt-for-the-masses/">All we want for Christmas is a Ford GT</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 27 Oct 2007 11:01:00 EST. But when the firm directs its resources towards exotic American muscle, it's the automotive equivalent of Henry Kissinger - absolute power corrupting absolutely.<br /><br />By ditching the stock supercharger and installing an upgraded unit, the Geiger crew was able to increase boost pressure from 0.8-bar (11.6 psi) to 1.25-bar (18 psi). After installing new throttle valves, replacing the air filter, equipping the GT with a new exhaust and remapping the ECU, they were able to bring power levels up to 701 HP and 617 lb.-ft. of torque. 60 now comes up in a scant 3.5 seconds and top speed eclipses the double-century mark by 11 mph.<br /><br />Keeping the GT from pirouetting at speed is an adjustable suspension that drops the supercar by 60mm over 20-inch wheels wrapped in 245mm tires up front, with 21-inchers swathed in 325s out back. Aside from the new ride height, GiegerCars left the rest of the body unscathed, save the rear bumper that houses new four-inch exhaust tips.<br /><br /><em>GeigerCars' full press release is after the jump.</em><br /><br />[Source: World Car Fans]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geigercars-ford-gt/low/">GeigerCars Ford GT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geigercars-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/9071012.012.mini10l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geigercars-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/9071012.012.mini11l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geigercars-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/9071012.012.mini12l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geigercars-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/9071012.012.mini13l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geigercars-ford-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/9071012.012.mini14l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/12/ford-gt-gets-the-geiger-treatment-0-60-drops-to-3-5s/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford GT gets the Geiger-treatment, 0-60 drops to 3.5s</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/12/ford-gt-gets-the-geiger-treatment-0-60-drops-to-3-5s/">Ford GT gets the Geiger-treatment, 0-60 drops to 3.5s</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Oct 2007 16:29:00 EST.
