<br />
YouTube is a great place to show off your vehicle and your driving skills, but more often than not, it just helps to prove that vehicle stunts should be left to the professionals. Take this particular driver, for instance. While jumping a sand dune in a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/toyota/fj+cruiser/">Toyota FJ Cruiser</a>, things go very wrong very quickly.<br />
<br />
There is no indication as to the condition of the driver, but we that hope he or she is okay and has learned a valuable (if expensive) lesson. The brief video of the would-be stunter is posted <a href="/2013/01/02/how-to-jump-a-toyota-fj-cruiser-over-a-sand-dune-poorly/#continued">below</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/02/how-to-jump-a-toyota-fj-cruiser-over-a-sand-dune-poorly/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>How to jump a Toyota FJ Cruiser over a sand dune... poorly</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/02/how-to-jump-a-toyota-fj-cruiser-over-a-sand-dune-poorly/">How to jump a Toyota FJ Cruiser over a sand dune... poorly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 02 Jan 2013 14:58:00 EST. <br />
According to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/jay+leno/">Jay Leno</a>, "The only time people in L.A. go off-roading is when they are about to get a D.U.I." That may be the case, but if you are looking to hit the trails with something inherently tough, but with a classic look, the folks at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/icon/">Icon</a> are the people to see about it. The builder, known for retro-look off-roaders with serious trail chops, has done its thing with the CJ and FJ. Now the Icon brand (not to be confused with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/iconic/">Iconic</a> the makers of a reinterpretation of the <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/cobra">Shelby Cobra</a>) has rolled out its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/31/icon-bronco-quick-spin-review/">Bronco redeux</a>, and brought it by <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/jay leno">Jay Leno's Garage</a>.<br />
<br />
Icon CEO and Lead Designer Jonothan Ward dropped in at Jay's with one of his creations. Ward explains that he goes around the country looking for rust-free, unmolested Bronco bodies, and fits them to a fully modern chassis. There are disc brakes all around, front and rear lock-on-the-fly differentials and a brand new <a href="http://autoblog.com/ford">Ford</a> Coyote engine shoehorned under the hood. The 5.0-liter mill makes an ungodly sound.<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/toyota/"> Toyota</a> issued a press release recently to discuss the updates to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/fj+cruiser">2011 FJ Cruiser</a>. The release goes on to highlight the all-new Trail Teams Special Edition FJ, which wears Army Green paint. The photo above was attached to the release and highlights something else: someone at Toyota might be color blind.<br />
<br />
Tritanopia, a form of Blue-Yellow colorblindness, can cause some green colors to appear light blue to the affected viewer. We would love to show those of you with standard color vision a photo of the Army Green FJ but we don't have one available. <br />
<br />
For our readers with Tritanopia, check out the sweet new Trail Teams Special Edition FJ shown above.<br />
<br />
Everyone, regardless of colors seen, can hop the jump to read about the updates on the 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser. They include an upgraded standard audio system, improved rearward visibility and a new design for the available 17-inch wheels.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Toyota Matrix - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />In a <em>U.S. News and World Report</em> story distributed via Yahoo dubbed "The 10 Best Discontinued Cars," author Rick Newman spoke with an unnamed analyst at <a href="http://www.kbb.com/?trid=20&amp;psid=1-566-15371-4860-90-3&amp;gclid=CIrF1MOokJ8CFQUeDQodcHi8Aw"><em>Kelley Blue Book</em></a> in an effort to help new car shoppers find exceptionally deep discounts on new cars. Here's where it gets hazy: As part of that process, Newman sought to: <em><br /> </em><blockquote><em> "...identify models likely to be discontinued over the next couple of years. For some of these models, the manufacturers have confirmed that the car is being axed; others made the list because of strong indicators that they're being discontinued, such as manufacturing changes or declining shipments to dealers."</em><br /> </blockquote> Note the word usage of "likely" and "next couple of years" coupled to that very misleading title. To Newman's credit, he notes "unconfirmed" when discussing vehicles that haven't been officially killed off, but to our eyes, the title is misleading and the execution of the list itself strikes us as disingenuous, particularly as it mixes vehicles that have already been officially nixed (<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/s2000">Honda S2000</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/sable">Mercury Sable</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/pontiac/g8">Pontiac G8</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/sky">Saturn Sky</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/volkswagen/jetta">Volkswagen Jetta</a> GLI) with end-of-life models that are likely to be replaced or die out in due time (<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/colorado">Chevrolet Colorado</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/sc">Lexus SC430</a>), as well as nameplates that have been facing declining or slow sales (<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/matrix">Toyota Matrix</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/fj+cruiser">FJ Cruiser</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/veracruz">Hyundai Veracruz</a>). We spoke with Curt McCallister, Toyota's Midwest Public Relations Manager about the fate of the Matrix and FJ Cruiser, and he offered us the following guidance:<em><br /> </em><blockquote><em> "There are no plans to discontinue either model. The Yahoo story is erroneous in that it was based on conjecture from unnamed analysts from Kelley Blue Book. The reporter (Newman) was informed of the factual errors in his story, multiple times yesterday. He was also questioned on why we weren't allowed to confirm or deny these assumptions. It was poor reporting that unfortunately has an Internet reach."</em><br /> </blockquote> Click through to the jump for the rest of the story, including a comment from Hyundai.<br /><br /><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-toyota-corolla-matrix">2009-2010 Toyota Corolla Matrix</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-toyota-corolla-matrix/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/09_matrix_s_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-toyota-corolla-matrix/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/09_matrix_s_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-toyota-corolla-matrix/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/09_matrix_s_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-toyota-corolla-matrix/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/09_matrix_s_07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-toyota-corolla-matrix/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/00matrixsemalive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: U.S. News and World Report via <a href="http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/1227/the-10-best-discontinued-cars/">Yahoo</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/06/toyota-hyundai-refute-report-of-discontinued-models/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota, Hyundai refute report of discontinued models</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/06/toyota-hyundai-refute-report-of-discontinued-models/">Toyota, Hyundai refute report of discontinued models</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 13:59:00 EST. <p><br />A couple of weeks ago, when GM was trotting the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/15/autoblog-drives-the-camaro-convertible-concept/">Camaro Convertible Concept</a> around the country, there was another throwback hotrod along for the ride: the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/holden-efijy-concept/">Soprano Purple Holden Efijy</a>. The car was created two years ago, in 2005, by Richard Ferlazzo, a designer at Holden (otherwise known as GM Down Under).
