<br />
Final lap battles, changes atop a world championship leader board and a season that's keeping us champing at the bit for each new round. With absolutely no disrespect to cream-colored ponies or crisp apple strudels, we can say with confidence that MotoGP 2010 is delivering a few of our favorite things.<br />
<br />
With one swift pass on the inside, Spain's Jorge Lorenzo not only crossed the finish line in first place, but also claimed the same rank in the battle to crown a new world champ. The Spanish round was not characterized by a runaway victory at the hands of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/fiat-and-yamaha-team-up-on-new-abarthfz1/">Fiat Yamaha</a> rider, as his <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/honda">Honda</a>-mounted countryman and rival Dani Pedrosa held the top spot most of the race. Lorenzo came from third position passing not only Pedrosa, but also his teammate Valentino Rossi, in the process of hunting down the win. This battle came down to the final lap and involved passing margins that seemed to embody the 'rubbin is racin" philosophy.<br />
<br />
The intense action at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/12/star-search-fresh-talent-descends-on-jerez-for-f1-mega-test/">Jerez circuit</a> adds fuel to an already burning fire of possibilities for the 2010 MotoGP season. Once again, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/12/stoner-crashes-rossi-wins-motogp-2010-is-officially-out-of-the/">Nickey Hayden</a> fell just short of the podium in fourth position besting his Ducati teammate Casey Stoner, who claimed the final place in the top five. Stay tuned as the drama unfolds, and yes, we are officially hooked.<br />

<br />
Just how many MotoGP World Championships does it take to get your very own signature line of computers? Well... everybody's favorite Doctor and Packard Bell have answered unanimously. Nine is the number! Valentino Rossi has agreed to sign off with the continued <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/yamaha">Yamaha</a> racing partner, which will officially badge a line of notebooks the VR46 lineup.<br />
<br />
The view comes from 11.6 inches of HD screen space. To ensure you catch all the action while replaying your favorite MotoGP clips, Diamond View LCD technology is said to keep things clear on those mind-bending high-speed straights. A built-in six-cell battery will allow you to make use of the webcam and microphone, as well as connecting to the outside world via a 3G module, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for up to eight hours. Finally, a full-size keyboard and multifunction touch pad should make searching for the latest race results as easy as a good <a href="http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://resources.motogp.com/files/images/xy/2008/MotoGP/n494576_234946_._original.original.jpg&amp;imgrefurl=http://www.motogp.com/en/photos/2008/Valentino%2BRossi%2Bpulls%2Boff%2Ba%2Bwheelie%2Bat%2Bthe%2Bfinish%2Bof%2Bthe%2Brace&amp;usg=__7FlQ8PHGD1ZDUYtenrc1XCTdXj0=&amp;h=960&amp;w=1280&amp;sz=111&amp;hl=en&amp;start=13&amp;um=1&amp;itbs=1&amp;tbnid=W5JbPwMsGtIYUM:&amp;tbnh=113&amp;tbnw=150&amp;prev=/images%3Fq%3DRossi%2Bfinish%2Bline%2Bwheelie%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26tbs%3Disch:1">victory lap wheelie</a>.<br />
<br />
Don't worry, you won't have a hard time spotting the VR46 in the lineup at your favorite electronics depot. Design partner <a href="http://www.drudiperformance.com/">Aldo Drudi</a> lends his famous Star and Moon artwork to the lid, making it a replica of the one you see Rossi sporting on the track. Each point of the star is one-of-a-kind to honor the five continents where GP racing takes place. The same number 46 that has become a Rossi family tradition is visible on the front cover and the inside just as it is on the front-running YZR-M1.<br />
<br />
If you need another excuse to daydream about bar-to-bar battles in the corkscrew at Laguna, we recommend taking a moment when pulling out your VR46. Now, send an note to your boss explaining why you need some time off to make a local track day!<br />

<br />Access to the garage areas of MotoGP teams is limited to say the least, and all but the highest-level passes will leave you trying to get a glimpse from afar while the mechanics diligently work on the bikes throughout the weekend. Good fortune was with us, however. Yamaha was kind enough to give us access to its garage so we could take a closer look at the inner-workings of a MotoGP team.<br /><br />While we couldn't spend too much time in any of the areas, we were amazed to see just how much goes into simply setting up each garage. Space is at a premium, so everything is extremely well organized. The workstations are incredibly clean, and some sections are even carpeted. Perhaps our favorite part was getting a close look at the motorcycles and their components. Each bike is a beautiful mass of carbon fiber, titanium, and CNC-machined parts. Yamaha allowed us to take photos, so you can check out the two-wheeled rides of Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Colin Edwards for yourselves in the high-res gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-motogp-garage-tour">Yamaha MotoGP Garage Tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-motogp-garage-tour/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/yamahagarages_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-motogp-garage-tour/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/yamahagarages_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-motogp-garage-tour/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/yamahagarages_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-motogp-garage-tour/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/yamahagarages_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-motogp-garage-tour/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/yamahagarages_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong style="font-style: italic;"><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/05/motogp-autoblog-tours-the-yamaha-garages/">MotoGP: Autoblog tours the Yamaha garages</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 05 Jul 2009 14:09:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for more images of the Yamaha FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corse</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Before Karl Abarth was putting his sporting touches on Fiats for competition, he was a successful motorcycle racer, winning five European Championships. When Fiat realized how successful Abarth was with its cars, the Italian automaker purchased the tuning division and made it an integral part of its operations. The relationship has continued to this day and the tuning company is now an official division. The motorcycling connection finally comes full circle, as Fiat is the main sponsor for Yamaha's MotoGP race team and star rider (not to mention current MotoGP champion) Valentino Rossi. To celebrate Abarth's centenary, Fiat and Yamaha have teamed up on a tuned version of the 150 horsepower FZ1, a naked version of the previous-gen R1 literbike. The FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corse gets extra-special goodies like a complete &Ouml;hlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, Brembo monobloc front brake calipers, and an Akrapovic exhaust system. We're smitten with the red and white paint job, which looks resplendent against its attendant Abarth scorpion logos.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-fz1-abarth-assetto-corse">Yamaha FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corse</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-fz1-abarth-assetto-corse/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/yamaha-abarth-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-fz1-abarth-assetto-corse/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/yamaha-abarth-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-fz1-abarth-assetto-corse/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/yamaha-abarth-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-fz1-abarth-assetto-corse/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/yamaha-abarth-06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yamaha-fz1-abarth-assetto-corse/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/yamaha-abarth-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.italiaspeed.com/2008/cars/abarth/11/yamaha_fz1_bike/1311.html">Italiaspeed</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/fiat-and-yamaha-team-up-on-new-abarthfz1/">Fiat and Yamaha team up on new AbarthFZ1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 17 Nov 2008 10:01:00 EST.
