Italy is unfortunately no stranger to earthquakes, thus neither is the exotic automaker and racing team whose logo bears the country's flag. When disaster struck in Abruzzo, Ferrari launched a special-edition F430 to raise funds for its relief, and has been contributing to rebuilding the stricken region ever since. When the tsunami hit in Japan, Ferrari contributed millions to its aid. Now another earthquake has hit Italy - in the same part of the country that hosts Ferrari's headquarters in Maranello. The company immediately halted operations to let its employees be with their families, and is now preparing for an online auction to raise funds for relief efforts in the region.

The auction will be hosted at FerrariStore.com, and will of course include all manner of Ferrari-branded merchandise - including racing helmets and suits worn in grands prix by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. But there are some bigger items as well, including a V8 engine from one of the Scuderia's F1 cars, and, at the top of the list, a 599XX Evoluzione. The most advanced of the company's developmental track cars, the 599XX Evo is worth over $1.6 million, but will likely raise far more than that - and help the disaster relief efforts that have forced the new Italian federal government to raise fuel taxes - when the bidding starts next week. Check out more details by scrolling below.
Continue reading Ferrari holding online auction to benefit Italian earthquake victims

Ferrari holding online auction to benefit Italian earthquake victims originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 31 May 2012 18:31:00 EST.
Making sense of Ferrari's vast merchandising empire depends entirely on how you look at the brand. As an exclusive purveyor of supercars and GTs, it amounts - in some minds, at least - to sullying the brand name. As a sports team - one of the winningest in motorsport or any other sport for that matter - it makes perfect sense, just as it does for your local pro sports franchise to sell jerseys and baseball caps.

Few organizations are as cognizant of that schism as Ferrari themselves, which currently has not one, but two separate watch lines on the market. One is made specially for Ferrari owners (actual or wannabe) by Officine Panerai. Those are the watches that sell for the big bucks. But for racing fans who see the Prancing Horse as the mascot of their favorite team (as opposed to the marque of eminently desirable exotic sportscars), Maranello has a more economically priced and sportingly styled watch line, the latest of which is the subject of this post.

The Ferrari Lap Time Chronograph is built around a Swiss anadigit movement and is housed in a 44mm stainless steel case coated in black PDV. It features a digital display for two secondary time zones, tachometers and chronometer timing functions, alarm, date display and split-second timer. It's secured to the wrist with a rubber strap emulating a grooved racing tire and is of course emblazoned with little cavalinnos all over.

Available from the Ferrari Store starting at the end of this month for €245.83 (about $350), the Lap Time Chronograph is decidedly more accessible to the average racing fan than the high-priced Panerai timepieces.
With Felipe Massa on the podium for the first time this season, Ferrari had enough cause to celebrate at this year's German Grand Prix. But that wasn't the only milestone the Maranello outfit marked at the Nürburgring this past weekend as Ferrari opened a massive new retail facility adjacent to the famed racing circuit.

The latest Ferrari Store is the first in Germany and the first at a race track (assuming you exclude the flagship store in Maranello near the company's own Fiorano circuit). We initially reported on the plans nearly a year ago, but full details have now emerged: the Iosa Ghini-designed store encompasses 240 square meters of space in the new Nürburgring trackside complex, including retail space for Ferrari's growing range of merchandise, a lounge overlooking the track, a business conference room and an F1 car on display. Massa and Raikkonen were on hand to dedicate the new site, which is only the latest step in a planned expansion that will include 40 new locations around the world over the course of the next three years. Check out the details in the press release after the jump and photos in the gallery below.

Gallery: Ferrari Store at the Nurburgring

[Source: Ferrari]
Continue reading Ferrari opens new store at the Nürburgring

Ferrari opens new store at the Nürburgring originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 09:30:00 EST. But with its range of licensed paraphernalia ever increasing, the company's largest market has until now only had two retail outlets out of 20 worldwide Ferrari Stores. To that end, Ferrari has opened two more locations of its merchandising outlets in the United States: one in Miami and another in Hawaii.

The Miami location at the upscale Aventura Mall has 2150 square feet of retail space, while the Honolulu location has 3230 square feet of floor space on two levels at the Royal Hawaiia Center. They join the previous locations in Beverly Hills and Las Vegas, along with eight Italian stores and ten more around the world. Having recently strolled into a Ferrari Store at the Milan Malpensa airport, we can tell you the stores are packed full of Prancing Horse-emblazoned merchandise. Just don't stop in there expecting to book a test drive.

The press release is below the fold.

That seemed to be the consensus of the invited guests at the grand opening of the Ferrari Store - Los Angeles. Coinciding with the marque's 60th Anniversary world rally, the store held its grand opening celebration on Sunday at the Beverly Center. Besides being entertained by the hosts and hostesses, VIP guests were also treated to a display of Ferraris that included the 1961 Paris Motor Show 275 GTS 2+1, a 275 GTB, and a Formula 1 car among others.

The L.A. location joins the chain that includes a few Italian locations, as well as several others around the world. Late last year Ferrari opened a new store in Qatar, marking their entry into the Middle East. The boutique shops sells Ferrari accessories, clothing, and other merchandise. Similar to the other American store at The Wynn in Las Vegas, the Beverly Center store has clothes, shoes, toys, keychains and other accessories, all bearing the Ferrari logo or Ferrari images.

The Ferrari Store - Los Angeles is located on the 6th floor of the Beverly Center at 8500 Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles. Tel. 310-657-9800. Well worth a stop if you happen to be in L.A. and happen to love or even like Enzo's works.

Gallery: Ferrari Store opens in Beverly Hills

Ferrari Store - Los Angeles opens in the Beverly Center originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 27 Mar 2007 10:53:00 EST. Introducing Motorola's MotoRAZR Maxx V6 Ferrari Challenge. With a V6, wouldn't that make it a Dino? No matter, because it does have 'the iconic prancing horse shield on the front and "Ferrari" in the company's easily recognizable font on the back. And it's about $1,200 cheaper than that Lamborghini phone which doesn't come with a red Ferrari leather case.

Read the Motorola press release with the phone's full specs and more photos after the jump.

[Source:Motorola]
Continue reading Ferrari takes on Lamborghini in mobile phone battle

Ferrari takes on Lamborghini in mobile phone battle originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 28 Jan 2007 15:23:00 EST.
