Pininfarina Ferrari P4/5 Competizione - Click above for high-res image gallery

A few months ago, the internet started to rumble with rumors of a race car being built out of the incredible Pininfarina Ferrari 612 P4/5 that James Glickenhaus had commissioned at a staggering (but understandable) $4 million. A thread on Ferrari superforum FerrariChat.com put those rumors to rest -- Glickenhaus wasn't going to turn his P3/4 homage into a race car, he was going to build another car that he would take racing.

While the final product hasn't been revealed in full, the thread includes over 20 pages of Q&A between James and the rest of the F-Chat community giving several hints at what's to come. There are even several photo renderings depicting what the car might look like. What we do know is that this new P4/5 Competizione will not be Enzo/FXX/MC based -- it will be based on a Ferrari chassis and feature a Ferrari V8, with Glickenhaus saying that a V12 isn't practical because of fuel consumption.

Engineering has already begun on this dedicated racecar, which will hopefully get its maiden run at the Nürburgring 24 hour race next year. It will run in an open class that allows one-offs, as there are apparently no plans to homologate this retro-inspired racer. It's just Glick being Glick, building something for fun and bringing his teen memories of Ford vs. Ferrari back to life in endurance racing.

It could also be seen as a great opportunity for sponsors to get a ton of exposure. If the Competizione is anything like the road-going P4/5 in the publicity department, we'd say it's a safe bet you'll get a lot for your advertising dollars. We'll keep you posted as the car comes along, and we're already petitioning the higher-ups to include the Nürburgring 24 into our travel budget next year.

With the new 458 Italia ready to go, the 458 Spider on its way, and the California still fresh on the market, Ferrari is turning its attention from the V8 range to its V12 flagships. CAR sat down with the company's CEO and managing director Amedeo Felisa, who revealed the full roll-out schedule for not one, not two, but three new V12 supercars currently under development in Maranello.

First up is the 612 Scaglietti, which has been on the market since 2004. That may not seem like a long product life cycle, but considering the lackluster Scag hasn't exactly won the hearts and minds of enthusiasts and customers, Ferrari is apparently moving ahead with its replacement, due to hit the market by 2012.

Around the same time, we can expect to see the long-anticipated supercar to follow in the footsteps of the 288 GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo. Although Ferrari has been working on hybrid propulsion and other forms of green technology, those bits won't be ready by the time the Enzo's successor rolls around, so expect a more conventional V12 (or possibly twin turbo V8) to drive Maranello's new benchmark.

The replacement for the 599 GTB Fiorano, meanwhile, will take a little longer. The two-seat GT was introduced a few years ago and recently treated to a new HGTE package to keep it ahead of the competition. But although the new 458 is already expected to outgun the Fiorano, and with arch-rival Lamborghini hard at work on a successor to the Murcielago, Ferrari isn't planning to replace the 599 before 2015.

From the looks of it, edo competition seems to have run out of supercars to modify. The high-end tuning firm has already tweaked pretty much every mainstream supercar, and have decided to have a second go at such exotica as the Ferrari Enzo. The German tuner's latest version of the ultimate Prancing Horse is dubbed the FXX Evolution and is essentially a road-going version of the FXX Evoluzione race car offered to Ferrari's special Corse Clienti program. Does a street legal Ferrari FXX sound familiar? You might remember that edo competition previously took an FXX and made it street legal (at least in Germany).

So what justifies the FXX name on this particular Enzo? For starters, 840 horsepower. Displacement of the V12 has been bumped from 6.0 to 6.3-liters, and new camshafts, titanium valve springs and connecting rods, new cylinder heads, and a high-flow exhaust system have all been added to provide the 180 horsepower increase. Sans mufflers, the FXX Evolution matches its racing counterpart's 860 horsepower. Edo competition also managed to shed 220 lbs from the car, decrease shift times to 60 milliseconds (also matching the race car), and install an FIA-spec adjustable suspension system. Finally, the exterior gets adjustable rear winglets and a new rear fascia with relocated exhaust tips.

Edo competition is offering a conversion package to all Enzo owners that includes a test day with an instructor, mechanics, data logging, transport and hospitality. Cost? The company doesn't list a price, but we'll just assume it's suitably outrageous. Full details can be found after the jump, and check out the high-res gallery below.

Well, the rendering looked great. The end result, not so much. Customizers in China are so hardcore, they always earn an "A" for effort. This time, though, all that work out in the elements with zero protective gear in sight has resulted in a Geely coupe that might cause one to choke back vomit. It's not like the Geely Beauty Leopard is attractive to begin with, looking like a Saturn Coupe with Supra headlamps grafted on.

What emerged with scissor doors and a beaky face is a Ferrari Enzo clone. Sort of. Let's just say that the reproportioning effort to afford the Geely's wheelbase some Maranello visuals has not gone altogether well. It's rendered us speechless, so hit the gallery and draw your own conclusions.

Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay has learned that when you are the owner of a famous automobile collection, you best be careful about who you offend since they will know how to hit you where it hurts.

During a recent hotel stay, the Top Gear regular said something to rile up the joint's pastry chef while they were downing some drinks at the bar. Normally, such a quarrel would not amount to much attention, but if reality television has taught us anything, it is that English chefs have hot tempers and they like to hurl things in a fit of rage. In this instance, the young chef decided to release his anger by chucking stones at the singer's black Ferrari Enzo. The target practice amounted to about $40,000 worth of damage to the car's front windshield and driver's side window. While the repairs get underway, it looks like Jay Kay might have to make due by driving around in his Aston Martin DB5, Lamborghini Miura SV or even his Mercedes 300SL Roadster instead. Oh, the humanity. Thanks for the tips, everyone!

This little gem in Muscat, Oman represents what you do when you have bodacious sums of money and time. Now we're all for having a little fun, but we're talking about an Enzo, which, while not the prettiest of Ferraris, still doesn't deserve to endure the eighth-level of Maaco paint-shop Hell. Whoever did this gets points for authenticity, even including the roof signage. If nothing else, we'd certainly go for a ride: as passenger to get anywhere in seven seconds, as driver, so we could say, imitating the voice of Blofeld, "That'll be one hundred million dollars." Because while MT's roster included some mouthwatering supercars, this video has got the top level of discontinued exotic machinery - Ferrari Enzo, Maserati MC12 and Porsche Carrera GT - all lining up to take their shots at the Pagani Zonda F Clubsport, a track-bound supercar so exclusive we might as well call it discontinued too. Each one of these supercars is worth as much as all of the aforementioned Motor Trend machinery combined. And where did this multi-million-dollar road show head to stretch their legs? The Nurburgring, of course. (You didn't think they were going to autocross them around some pylons in a parking lot, did you?) As we told you a couple of weeks ago, there's one incredibly lucky dude in Europe who happens to own at least a handful of the greatest supercars of the modern era. He also happens to house them near the Nürburgring. It was only a matter of time before all five of the cars were brought to the 'Ring to have them 'rung out. Fortunately for us that blessed event recently took place, and more importantly, it was captured on film. Even better, the lads over at Supercarmovies were the ones who filmed it.

After sharing their lush, kinetic films of the Lamborghini LP640, Weismann GT, and most recently the Chevy Corvette Z06, they have just posted videos of the five supercars getting down to business. Given the relative scarcity of cars like the Ferrari Enzo (349 production units built, an indeterminate number destroyed), you're unlikely to encounter one. On those rare occasions when such a thing does happen it seems even less likely that said owner will say, "Hey, wanna go for a ride?" Given the improbability of such events, it seems even more bizarre that our friend Jonny Lieberman found himself in such a situation this past weekend at the inaugural 24 Hours of LeMons in Houston, TX.

It turns out that Matt Groner is the owner of the Enzo best known for being cracked up by Eddie Griffin. We reported on the car being repaired and offered up for sale a couple of months ago and it's still available on eBay with a Buy It Now price of a mere $1.2 million. So what was Groner doing at LeMons? Why racing of course. According to Jonny, he rolled up to the track in the Enzo and hopped into a Neon to compete in the crap-can "race."

When buying a used car, no matter what kind, a major crash is usually a big deterrent. In this case, however, it was its claim to fame. Try though you surely have to forget, you'll likely recall actor/comedian Eddie Griffin's lamentable crash of a Ferrari Enzo into a concrete barrier while promoting his then-new movie Redline. Most figured the exotic was a write off - or an accounted-for marketing expense, as some contend - but it has been given a new lease on life thanks to Matt Groner.

The Texas broker deals in wrecked luxury and sportscars, and usually sells them as is. With the Redline Enzo, however, Groner decided to put in the effort to restore the vehicle. Since the Enzo's chassis is composed of separate carbon fiber sections bolted to the center tub, Groner had simply to call up the factory and order the replacement parts. Well, not so simply, as it turns out, because the parts cost $300k and took months to arrive. But the restoration has been completed, and the car is up for sale for a $1.3 million sum that's sure to cause as much whiplash as Griffin's crash did in the first place.

Since the epically fast Enzo supercar finished its limited production run, the 430 Scuderia has been left to uphold the mantle as Ferrari's fastest. But as amazing as the Scuderia's performance is, outrunning every previous Ferrari around the company's Fiorano test track, it only goes to show what Maranello is capable of: If they can do this with their erstwhile "entry-level" V8 sportscar, what do they have in store for the Enzo's successor?

Emerging reports suggest that Ferrari could go one (or both) of two ways with its next range-topper. One approach is reportedly being based on the Millechili concept, which as you'll recall was essentially a chopped-down Enzo crafted out of cardboard and plastic holding the promise of environmentally-friendly specs. The production vehicle is tipped to be based on the F430's platform - remember that the 288 GTO and F40 were based on modified 308 underpinnings - but feature a 600hp V10 in a lightweight 1000kg package, with a lengthened wheelbase of around 104 inces, a $500,000 price tag and a production run of 300.

While reports suggest that a second supercar could appear based on the FXX development program, we think it far more likely that one vehicle will prevail, borrowing on themes and components from both the Millechili and the FXX test-bed.

Edo Competition has no qualms about taking positively perfect exotic machinery and tweaking it to suit customer's tastes. And when it comes to the paragon of rolling automotive masterworks, the Ferrari Enzo is arguably King of the Hill.

While the Enzo isn't lacking in either the power or appearance department, that hasn't stopped Edo from making some subtle changes to the Enzo's exterior and powertrain. Edo began by replacing the intake with a revised ram-air system and a set of high-flow air filters, then worked its magic downstream with a set of headers similar to those in the FXX, along with a duo of high-flowing cats and a new exhaust system with remote-controlled, butterfly valves that allow the sound levels to be adjusted on the fly. All those bits are tuned through a modified ECU to produce 700 hp and 527 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sent through a heavy-duty clutch and on down to a retuned stock transmission that replicates the shift times of the FXX.

The Enzo's factory rolling stock has been replaced with 19x10-inch wheels in front and 20x13-inch wheels in the rear, wrapped in Michelin tires sized 265/35 R19 and 335/30 R20, respectively. The wheels can be custom painted to the customer's specs and a new suspension package, with adjustable compression and rebound, has been developed to mimic the setup found on the FIA GT MC12.

Edo claims that the sprint from 0 to 62 mph is estimated at 3.5 seconds and that the run from rest to 186 mph is dropped to 22 seconds flat. All the specs are available in the press release after the jump.

Hey, wait a minute - we thought you couldn't actually purchase the Ferrari FXX, let alone take one out to cavort on the streets of Switzerland. The way it was originally explained, people with 2.5 million dollars to dispose of could purchase the privelege to plant their hindquarters in the driver's seat for Maranello-sanctioned track events. You've got to have some serious juice to get an FXX to begin with, and then to get it legalized for use in Switzerland takes even more pull. When we say "crazy rich" we don't mean nutty with lots of money. "Crazy rich" in this instance means Scrooge McDuck style swimming in dubloons. Looking in the background of these pictures, you can see lesser vehicles fleeing for their lives. The FXX is keeping a particularly close eye on a tasty Fiat at one point. What's apparently going down in the photos is an FXX getting legally tagged for street driving after being gone over by inspectors in Zurich. The price of the inspection and tags was reportedly around $250,000, a mere ten percent of the initial cost. With an FXX as your personal car, you won't have to worry about blending in, and we must say it's refreshing to see a Ferrari in a color besides Rosso Corsa.

A Ferrari on Craigslist? Yeah, right. Is it one of those nasty little Fiero-based abominations? No, it looks like an honest-to-badass Enzo. Wow. Of course, it's in LA! Would you expect this ugliest of Ferraris to show up on the Minneapolis Craigslist? Take your $1.9 million bucks and head over to Ferrari of Beverly Hills, because this car's got to go according to the seller. It's not often you see a Prancing Horse being disposed of the same way you'd unload a '72 Maverick. Do bear in mind that a Ferrari is the gift that keeps on giving - to the dealership service department, from your wallet. The entry price might be reasonable enough (note the joke), but the maintenance costs are horrendous.

We just told you about the upcoming Enzo replacement based on the Millechili concept a few days ago, but now we have a few more juicy rumors to share. Informed sources tell us that the upcoming replacement for Ferrari's Enzo supercar will take a different tack. As was reported earlier, it is believed that Ferrari wants to go with a smaller dimension vehicle featuring a smaller displacement engine. We're not sure of the dimensions or weight, but at least in the engine bay we should see a reduction over the current supercar. It is believed to be powered by a V8, unlike the Enzo's 6.0L V12. Not to be outdone by the likes of Bugatti and Koenigsegg, however, rumor has it this new Ferrari (F60?) will feature a pair of turbos feeding that V8, resulting in somewhere around 900 HP. Even with a vehicle weighing about the same as the Enzo, 900 HP would produce staggering performance. Early word was a 500 HP target figure, but the 900 number seems to be pretty firm according to our source. We'll keep our ears open for any other details we might hear about the possible Enzo successor.

Just when we thought we could finally move on from the Enzo-gate affair, word comes from the AP that 27 year-old Trevor Michael Karney, AKA "Dietrich", has been sentenced to 30 days in prison in addition to three years of probation. The jail time is a result of Karney giving false information to the police after his best-bud Bo Stefan Eriksson crashed Enzo's namesake at over 160 MPH on PCH.

So with Eriksson serving three years and his accomplice serving 30 days, can we finally put this business behind us? We hope so. Moving on...

Remember Dietrich? He was the mystery German man Stefan Eriksson first said was driving that Ferrari Enzo last year when it crashed. After Eriksson admitted to being the driver, Eriksson said he must have fabricated Dietrich due to the blackout he suffered after the crash.

Los Angeles County sheriff's officers never doubted the existence of Dietrich, however, and after a 17-month search, they say the mystery German is in custody. Except he's not German, and officials say he was a passenger, not the driver.

L.A. sheriff's office says Trevor Michael Karney is charged with drunk driving, resisting arrest, giving false information to a police officer and, could face federal immigration charges. By the way, the DUI is not connected to the Enzo crash, nor are the resisting arrest or false information charges. The immigration violation could be. Karney disappeared after the Enzo crash and, according to investigators, has been laying low in Ireland until recently sneaking back into the U.S. across the Mexican border.

Sources say Karney was videotaping Eriksson's 162 mph run down PCH before that telephone pole jumped into their lane. Trust us, we have all available manpower scouring YouTube for that video.

How many are we down to? 391, 390? Of the 399 (plus one extra built for the pope to auction off for Tsunami victims, gotta love church auctions) Enzos built by Ferrari, a decent number has been written off as scrap metal. Various accidents have taken from us these special vehicles, and we have yet one more to add to the list. Frank Mountain, a "property tycoon" (FYI: I would quit blogging for that job title) in the UK lost his Enzo when a bus he alleges was taking a corner too fast crossed lanes and made contact. The Enzo then careened into a Volkswagen Golf, which was written off due to the extent of its damage. One doesn't write off an Enzo, though, and Mountain is suing the bus company for £300,000 to cover the cost of repairs, his loss of earnings when he missed work to deal with the accident, and the Ferrari's loss in value since it's now damaged goods. Perhaps after the repairs are done, presumably in Maranello, we'll be able to officially insert this Enzo back into the fold. Until then, the value of everyone else's Enzo just went up again.

Looks like Eddie Griffin hasn't been coached well enough by the PR people for his film Redline. Griffin missed an obvious opportunity to use the movie's tagline, "Fear Nothing. Risk Everything" to explain why he crashed a Ferrari Enzo during a charity event to promote the movie. Instead, he answers inquiries as to what happened with, "The brother can't drive." Nice. When the The Zurich Iconic Car Index sought out to find the best of the best in the Super Car market, there were a lot of really tough choices. High-dollar items like the Bugatti Veyron, Carerra GT, and the Vanquish cost a ton and have cache coming out their tail pipes. The competition was based off of a "complicated" formula of price, power, performance, and marquee.

Of course there can only be one winner, and the one vehicle that has probably received the most attention over the past couple years is the Ferarri Enzo. Whether they're turning heads on Miami Beach or bending telephone poles on the PCH, the Enzo is at the top of its game. Microsoft founder Paul Allen and the Pope have been owners of this posh speed demon. Ferrari actually dominated the entire top ten with three vehicles making the list. No other automaker had more than one entry.

If you are lucky enough to own one of the few hundred Enzos (left) in existence, take some time to celebrate. You officially own the best of the best. If you want to celebrate your victory on the road, however, wear your seat belt and a helmet. The Enzo can prove to be, well, crash-prone.
