A brand like Mini is as much about image as it is about the vehicles it produces. Hence a seemingly endless array of branded merchandise, joined by this latest collection made in collaboration with Carmina Campus.

The fashion brand directed by Ilaria Venturini Fendi - youngest daughter of the famed fashion-design family - is distinguished by its use of recycled materials, and in the case of the Mini collection, uses all manner of discarded components from the Mini product line. Everything from seatbelts and convertible-roof canvas to scraps of metal bodywork and leather upholstery have been repurposed into a range of travel and city bags for both men and woman.

The collection includes everything from briefcases and laptop bags to purses and suitcases. Only fifty individually-numbered pieces will be made, with prices ranging from 350 to 700 euros (~$450-900) available in store and online. Details in the press release below and the extensive high-res image gallery above.
Continue reading Carmina Campus repurposes Mini parts into bag collection

Carmina Campus repurposes Mini parts into bag collection originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 14 Mar 2012 07:57:00 EST.
Mercedes-Benz has put together a fashion-shoot-and-video session with Dutch supermodel Lara Stone and the 2013 SL for Fashion Week, and the result is a vid that only those attending Fashion Week could understand. Which is, probably, half the point.

We shared the "making of" video with you back in late December, but it's apparently taken until now for the completed Alex Prager short to be completed. Back then, the film idea was presented as the Calvin Klein model trying to outrun a tornado, but it's not. Think The Wizard of Oz in Louboutins by Jim Jarmusch and you'll be close. Or you could just watch the video after the jump.
Continue reading Bizarre Mercedes SL fashion video with model Lara Stone isn't in Kansas anymore

Bizarre Mercedes SL fashion video with model Lara Stone isn't in Kansas anymore originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 17 Jan 2012 19:01:00 EST.
Mercedes-Benz sent Calvin Klein model Lara Stone out with a 2013 SL, and put photographer Alex Prager in charge of documenting the platform-heeled, Arcadian shenanigans. The project is called the 2012 Fashion Collaboration, Icons of Style, and will be shown in its entirety at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, February 9-15, 2012. Meant to be a modern take on film noir and, apparently, Storm Catchers, Stone uses the SL to outrun a tornado.

Fashionable Europeans demand a few staple accessories. Things like a Gucci bag, a Fiat 500 and a tiny quivering dog to put in both. Fiat may not be in the breeding business, but the first two came together when the Italian automaker teamed up with the Italian fashion house to come out with the Fiat 500 by Gucci.

Now available in both hatchback and convertible bodystyles, the Fiat 500 by Gucci is coming to America next month. That's when it's set to make its North American debut during New York Fashion Week. Following the fashionable retro mini's debut, buyers can begin taking delivery of theirs starting in December.

The special edition is available in either white or black, and features such unique touches as Gucci's green and red stripe, the brand's signature logo on the b-pillar and double-G logo on the wheel hubs. The interior meanwhile is decked out in special embroidery and leather trim, all of which you can read about in further detail in the press release after the jump and scope out in the accompanying video footage and the high-resolution image gallery.
Continue reading Fiat 500 Gucci confirmed for American debut at NY Fashion Week [w/video]

Fiat 500 Gucci confirmed for American debut at NY Fashion Week [w/video] originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 16 Aug 2011 16:27:00 EST. It'll make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, a favorite the yacht-and-helo set it's meant to appeal to. From there, it'll head to Paris Fashion Week for another go-round before the bourgeoisie, ultimately trickling down to the rabble at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The variety of partners involved in the creation include Blackberry and Kenwood on the technical side, while Krug champagne and swanky food store Fauchon ensure that backseat wheeler-dealers stay drunk and well-fed.
Mercedes has its 3-pointed hands in just about everything, from classic rallies to virtual opera to Fashion Week's around the world. In just two days, at 8PM on July 12, you'll be able to keep track of it all when Mercedes-Benz launches five channels of Internet television devoted to lifestyle, cars, engines and sports, history and legends, and innovation.

The first broadcast, in German and English, will be a presentation of a weekly news magazine hosted by German society reporter Tanja Bülter. Airing with that will be a program called Power Meets Fashion, from Fashion Week Berlin, that will see drivers like Lewis Hamilton taking spins around Berlin in cars like the Ocean Drive and Uhlenhaut Coupe. Each of the five channels will launch with an hour of programming, available on demand, 24 hours a day, with events like auto shows and launches broadcast live. While we can wonder how much "news" there will be in the news magazine, Mercedes has got the resources, the production values -- and the cars -- to provide something sure to have enough eye candy for between-task breaks.
