As usual, the Internet can't wait.

An image of the F620 GT was published today on GTSpirit.com, who claims it was sent to them by a reader. The timing was fortuitous, as we also have an image of the F620 GT, supplied to us by sources who have seen the car in person. While not an official rendering of the F620 GT from Ferrari, it's the best look yet at what will be unveiled on February 29.

Our friends at eGarage.com were also nice enough to provide some specs, which come directly from Ferrari. The F620 GT's 6.3-liter V12 will produce 740 horsepower and 690 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful twelve-cylinder engine ever made by Ferrari. With a redline of 8,700 rpm, this powerplant will move the Italian grand tourer to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds and 100 mph in 8.3 seconds. It's also lighter, lower and shorter than the 599 it's replacing.

With five days still left to go before Ferrari officially debuts the F620 GT, expect the Internet to continue digging.
THIS is the new 2013 Ferrari F620 GT, plus specs originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 12:30:00 EST.
With dozens of major automakers competing to separate us from our hard-earned cash in return for the newest, greatest development in motorized transportation, there are new cars making their debut just about every day. But the vast majority of them are not, of course, from Ferrari. Even with four production model lines, the purveyor of exotic performance machinery doesn't have a new model to roll out every day. But that rare occurrence is coming up, and in typical Maranello style, it's coming up fast.

We're talking, of course, about the F620 GT, a new front-engined, rear-drive V12 supercar designed to succeed the 599. We've brought you spy shots of the prototype undergoing testing at Fiorano and seemingly countless rumors of its composition, but soon we won't have to squint at spy shots and speculate at details as the car's unveiling is just around the corner.

Although the supercar's public debut is expected to take place at the Geneva Motor Show in just a couple of weeks from now, Ferrari will reveal the car it calls its most powerful to date in all its glory a little before that, on February 29. In the meantime, you're invited to crank up the speakers, strap on a bib and click past the jump for a teaser video where a camouflaged prototype clears its throat in spectacular fashion.
Continue reading Ferrari clears its throat and announces new F620 GT to debut on February 29

Ferrari clears its throat and announces new F620 GT to debut on February 29 originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 10:28:00 EST.
It's not every day that Ferrari unveils a new model. And most of the time, when it does, it's a variant of an existing one. But when the doors open at the Geneva Motor Show next month, word has it that the House that Enzo Built will be showcasing an all-new front-engined V12 GT to replace the long-serving 599.

Dubbed F620, the all-new supercar is expected to pack a 6.2-liter version of the direct-injection V12 from the FF into an aluminum chassis. Expect the usual smattering of carbon fiber bits, but don't expect to see the costly material being used for structural components: Ferrari has discounted the application due to its high cost to manufacture and repair. Also off the table for this model is the part-time all-wheel-drive system from the FF, as the F620's anticipated 700 horsepower will drive the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

However accurate the forecasted specifications turn out to be, we'll find out one way or another next month.
Ferrari to unveil new F620 in Geneva originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 08 Feb 2012 13:28:00 EST.
Now that Ferrari has launched the FF as the official replacement of the 612 Scaglietti, it's time for the Italian automaker to wrap up development of the successor to the 599. While we previously spotted this car's replacement undergoing development in a California shell, what you see here are the first photos that actually give a glimpse of the new car's shape, camouflaged as it may be.

The 599 successor - rumored to be dubbed F620 - will likely be powered by Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12, churning out over 700 horsepower. Unlike the all-wheel-drive FF, the 599 replacement will continue to use rear-wheel drive, sending its power to the back wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an F1-style electronic differential.

Our sources suggest that the F620 will be much lighter than the outgoing 599, due in part to a larger usage of aluminum in the body construction. As for design, it's safe to assume that the coupe will take a large influence from the 458 Italia, with some cues from the FF thrown in for good measure. Then again, it's a Ferrari, so we doubt the finished product will be anything but stunning.

Expect to see more of the F620 as it continues its development testing over the next few months. If things move along at a steady pace, we could see the production car debut as early as the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Ferrari 599 successor takes shape originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 11 Nov 2011 09:59:00 EST.
