An alleged US order guide for the 2014 Jaguar F-Type has made its way online courtesy of the good people at F-TypeClub.com, documenting everything from wheel color options to special equipment packages. From the looks of things, buyers will be able to choose from a total of eight wheel designs in sizes ranging from 18 inches on the base model all the way up to 20 inches. While most of those rollers are available in either silver or black finishes, the 20-inch blade-style wheels are not only forged, but come with carbon-fiber trim. Fancy.

Depending on trim, F-Type buyers will get to choose between two types of seat, including a set of performance-style 14-way power adjustable thrones, complete with seat belts in black, red or tan. Other fun tricks include available power folding side view mirrors and a 770-watt, 14-speaker Meridian sound system.

The F-Type will offer owners a rash of option packages that bundle popular equipment choices together, including three premium packages and two performance packages. There are also a number of aesthetic packages to be had, including a Black Package that swaps the standard grille, hood louvers, splitters, vents, roll hoops and rear valance for gloss black bits. Jaguar hasn't said one word about specific options pricing, however, model pricing is set to start from $69,000, and there's a rudimentary configurator already online. Check out the full order guide by clicking through the gallery, and be sure to head over to F-TypeClub.com for more information.

Jaguar F-Type US order guide loose online originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 08 Feb 2013 15:45:00 EST.
Porsche's heart lives in the rear end of the 911. The heart of Mercedes-Benz resides more in the brand values of the Three-Pointed Star than any one model. Mini is defined by petite packages wrapped in giant amounts of sass. Since the end of the Series III XJ in 1992, however, what has represented the unique and irreducible definition of Jaguar?

We're certain Jaguar is happy that the above question is moot, thanks to the arrival of the F-Type at the Paris Motor Show. Jaguar brand manager Adrian Hallmark tells Autocar that the $69,875 convertible is "the core of our range, and from now on it is our orientation point" - it is the E-Type for our times, and will lead the way for Jaguars to come. We don't know fully what that means yet; until we drive it, it isn't clear if the champagne and confetti party of the F-Type's introduction will end in afterglow or hangover. Nevertheless, there is at least a direction now, which is a major waypoint.

It will start with - surprise, surprise - a small sedan and a utility vehicle. We've heard for ages that a BMW 3 Series rival had been dancing across drawing boards, and after years of equivocation, it looks like an SUV/CUV may have finally been acceded to. Hallmark tells Autocar that "Whatever we do will be driven by the three pillars of our brand: innovation, design and performance leadership," by which he presumably means "driven by the huge sales opportunities and cha-ching!" We don't blame him; the market segment is hurtling in that direction and leaving all those pounds on the table would be something the old Jaguar would do. Obviously, those days are over. All hail the F-Type.
What's next for Jaguar after F-Type?

"We're not worshipping the ashes of our ancestors here."

Jaguar finally has its much anticipated - and much leaked - new sports car. Revealed at the Musée Rodin Museumin Paris ahead of the Paris Motor Show, the rakish convertible picks up the long-dormant mantle of the legendary E-Type, but it isn't a retro-retread. Autoblog was invited to England earlier this month for a hush-hush preview of the F-Type, where Jaguar Vehicle Line Director Ian Hoben assured us that "We're not worshipping the ashes of our ancestors here." While Jag has offered the larger XK grand tourer for years, it hasn't really fielded a new sports car in 50 years. And as Hoben points out, "For us not to be there [the segment] seems as wrong as Ferrari or Porsche not building sports cars."

The new all-aluminum F-Type is a strict two-seat affair, none of the leather-wrapped and seatbelt-equipped parcel shelves of the XK here. Available in three trims, F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S, the baby Jag will offer one of three powertrains, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 (380 hp / 339 lb-ft.), or a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 (495 hp / 460 lb-ft). The sole transmission at launch will be ZF's ubiquitous eight-speed automatic, with paddles and a more conventional gearshift lever in favor of the rotary selector of recent fame. Jag won't confirm it, but we suspect a manual transmission will be made available in a year's time, possibly on a harder-core R model. In its top specification, Jag promises a 0-60 dash of 4.2 seconds and a limited top speed of 186 mph. The mid-level V6 S does the deed in 4.8 seconds and taps out at 171 mph, while the 'base' F-Type still runs to 60 in 5.1 seconds and hits a 161-mph vMax. While we have yet to drive them, we have heard the new cars fire up and under power, as the Brits say, they sound "right cracking."
Continue reading Jaguar F-Type heralds return of first new sports car for Leaping Cat in 50 years [UPDATE]

Jaguar F-Type heralds return of first new sports car for Leaping Cat in 50 years [UPDATE] originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 26 Sep 2012 16:32:00 EST.
Jaguar is taking its still-in-development F-Type to the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. Mike Cross, Jaguar's head of vehicle integrity, will be piloting the all-aluminum convertible up the hill, and we guess he'll probably have the 380-horsepower, supercharged V6 underhood that we'll see when the production car is introduced next year, though a V8 is also possible. We're just hoping that Jag sees fit to delete the F-filled camouflage on the model seen above and show us the car in all its glory.

Jaguar's new kid should fit nicely with this year's Goodwood theme of "young guns." Scroll down for a press release on the F-Type's appearance.
Continue reading Jaguar F-Type prototype to take the hill at Goodwood

Jaguar F-Type prototype to take the hill at Goodwood originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 25 Jun 2012 18:31:00 EST.
Now that Jaguar is safely secured under the financial blanket of Tata Motors, the automaker is becoming more ambitious in its efforts to expand its model range. Tata has promised a yearly investment of £1 billion for the next five years, which means Jaguar will have the funding it needs to get new products cranked out. In talking with Auto Express, Jaguar Land Rover boss Carl-Peter Forster has reportedly confirmed that a few new models are in the pipeline, including the F-Type sports car, which we saw in concept form back in 2000 (pictured above).

This certainly isn't the first time that we've heard rumblings about F-Type production, and we've seen plenty of speculation about what the new sports car will look like. Rumors have suggested that the new sporty Jag will compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 or Audi R8.

When will a finished F-Type be on the road? Your guess is as good as ours, but due to Jaguar having just refreshed its entire model range within the last few years, we'd assume that the ball is indeed rolling on this new sportster.

Click above to view the 2000 Jaguar F-Type concept in high resolution

Reports from across the pond regarding Jaguar's plans for a new supercar are coming out of the woodwork, but while Autocar contends that Jag is (still) working on the return of the F-type, AutoExpress reports that an all-new mid-engine supercar is coming in concept form within the next year.

While under Ford PAG management, Jaguar cut back its development projects to its core products, but Tata figures there's more than one way to skin a cat. The F-Type was first shown as a concept car in 2000, but was subsequently shelved. However, under Tata's leadership more niche vehicles like the F-Type, which could hit the market by 2011, could make Jaguar a more compelling alternative brand to the big German automakers and help buoy Jaguar's image.

Back in 2001, Jaguar unveiled the R-Coupe concept, which could influence this new Audi R8 competitor. Based on the current XK, and possibly named the XE, the mid-engine coupe would be powered by the XFR's 503-hp supercharged, 5.0-liter V8 and would be the first vehicle from Jag with an engine mounted amidships since the XJ220. According to Jaguar's managing director, Mike O'Driscoll, the "XK is the car that began a revolution for us, but it's not the end of the story. I firmly believe the best car we could build to compliment this is a flagship coupe." If it does come to fruition, expect the XE to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010.

Gallery: Jaguar F-Type Concept

[Source: Autocar, AutoExpress]
Rumormill: Jaguar aims at R8 with new mid-engine supercar originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 13:01:00 EST.
