<br />
Potential corrosion of the front impact airbag sensor has prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to recall up to 29,353 2008-2009 Mitsubishi Lancer and Lancer Evolution models. NHTSA is concerned that long-term exposure to a mixture of melted snow and salt thrown up by other vehicles on the road may cause the wintery mixture to adhere to the front impact sensor and lead to corrosion over time. In the event of an accident or collision, a damaged sensor may short-circuit and delay airbag deployment possibly causing driver or passenger injury. The recall is currently limited to states where heavy road salt is used in the winter (i.e., Connecticut, New York, Wisconsin, etc...). <br />
<br />
Mitsubishi dealers have been instructed to replace the airbag sensors with a redesigned model with improved corrosion resistance. Of course, the service will be performed at no charge. While the safety recall isn't scheduled to begin until November 27, 2009, owners may contact Mitsubishi Customer Relations at 888-648-7820, contact NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit NHTSA on the Internet at <a href="http://www.safercar.gov/">www.safercar.gov</a>. Full press release after the jump.<br />

<br />Yesterday, we showed you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/11/video-blue-beauty-i-fifth-gear-i-samples-the-audi-r8-v10/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Fifth Gear</span>'s take on the new Audi R8 V10</a> - notable more for their footage of the gorgeous blue test car than for much in the way of actual performance driving and analysis. In an effort to correct that oversight, we've found you another clip of the UK television show that features not just one enthusiast car - but two cars, Ford's stonking new Focus RS and the Mitsubishi Evolution X. Better still, the fearsome twosome tangle on the track in a pair of tests with hot shoes Tiff Needell and BTCC champion Jason Plato at the wheel.<br /><br />It's a scrap as the touring car scion takes on the rally-bred hero, so check out the front-drive versus all-wheel-drive pocket rocket madness <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/12/video-i-fifth-gear-i-pits-ford-focus-rs-vs-mitsubishi-evo-x/">after the jump</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-ford-focus-rs-3/low/">2009 Ford Focus RS (green)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-ford-focus-rs-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/09focusrs_7495a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-ford-focus-rs-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/09focusrs_7490a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-ford-focus-rs-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/09focusrs_7509a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-ford-focus-rs-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/09focusrs_7502a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-ford-focus-rs-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/09focusrs_7506a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://fwd.five.tv/fifth-gear">Fifth Gear</a> via <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS8wT6nCOyo&amp;feature=player_embedded">YouTube</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/12/video-i-fifth-gear-i-pits-ford-focus-rs-vs-mitsubishi-evo-x/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: <i>Fifth Gear</i> pits Ford Focus RS vs. Mitsubishi Evo X</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/12/video-i-fifth-gear-i-pits-ford-focus-rs-vs-mitsubishi-evo-x/">VIDEO: <i>Fifth Gear</i> pits Ford Focus RS vs. Mitsubishi Evo X</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 15:29:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a gallery of the Ings Lancer Evo X body kit</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Japanese tuning house Ings has prepared a kit for the Lancer Evo X consisting of a front bumper and a Z-Power Wing. The bumper houses not only the odd-ified upper intake, it also wears new canards, brake ducts, and intercooler shrouds. The Ing site has little to say about the kit, but it looks to have been tuned on a race-tested car. If you're keen, you can <a href="http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&amp;Store_Code=EM&amp;Product_Code=00152-00102">order the bumper here</a> in either fiberglass or hybrid aero, a combination of urethane and fiberglass. It won't be available for a few months, so you'll have to be happy with the pics in the gallery below for now.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ings-tuned-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-10/low/">ings Tuned Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ings-tuned-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-10/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/01_ings_evo10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ings-tuned-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-10/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/03_ings_evo10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ings-tuned-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-10/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/05_ings_evo10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ings-tuned-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-10/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/07_ings_evo10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ings-tuned-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-10/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/09_ings_evo10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.ings-net.com/english/products/n-spec/evo10/index.html">Ings</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/26/new-ings-n-spec-kit-for-evo-has-a-deviated-septum/">New ings N Spec kit for Evo has a deviated septum</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 26 Dec 2008 16:03:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong>Click above for high-res image gallery of the Police Evo X</strong></em><br /></div>
</small> <br />The South Yorkshire police just added a ten to their squad. No, that's not a sexist statement about some new hire, it's a reference to the new Mitsubishi Evolution X they just added to the fleet. Joining an already-intimidating Evo VIII and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/19/fear-the-man-british-cops-channel-their-inner-makinen/">IX</a> in the motorpool is a specially equipped X that should help keep the Road Crime Unit (RCU) ahead of the baddies. The Evo X should be more than adequate for tracking down drug dealers and car thieves by itself, but deployed as a pack, the trio of Evos will probably scare scofflaws into simply giving up the chase.<br /><br /> The new Evolution X squad car will also be fitted with an onboard Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, which allows officers to "check who the vehicle is registered to and if there is anything remotely suspicious about the vehicle." So it even does a bit of detective work, too. This sounds like just about the perfect pursuit and apprehend vehicle. While it's no <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/24/italian-state-police-receive-new-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4/">Lamborghini LP560-4</a>, it's no <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/09/mitsubishi-i-miev-police-car-has-super-arrest-potential/">i MIEV</a> either. <p>Some cars look bad-ass, while others have a bad-ass image. The latest Mitsubishi Evo ticks both boxes, and ticks them off with a big X. Despite being based on the run-of-the-mill, work-a-day Lancer sedan, the Evo X has all the attitude you could ask from a performance icon, with the actual performance to back it up.</p>
<p>With the Evolution X now upon us, Mitsubishi has released no fewer than 35 new jumbo images of the beast, which we've added to our ever-growing high-resolution gallery for a total of 89 images to thrash your desktop into submission. Check out what happens when the Evo comes to town by clicking the thumbnails below.</p>

Autoblog Chinese snapped off a random assortment of pictures showing several different interpretations of the Evo X from a variety of tuners.<br /><br />From what we can see, some of the aftermarket firms weren't able to get parts fabbed up before the show, but several of the companies featured revised suspensions, strut tower braces, new intake and exhaust components and a few other choice bits. We're sure next year's Tokyo Auto Salon will be far more important to the aftermarket and its customers.<br /><br />In the meantime, we were able to find out that ARC brought a modified Evo X to the show fitted with a new intercooler, a complete coilover suspension and upgrade brakes. The team of HKS and Camp featured an Evo with an exposed carbon fiber splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, but, more impressively, Camp integrated its new Computerized Automobile Multi Player, which acts similar to the GT-R's dash-mounted screen that displays a variety of engine parameters in lieu of a row of analog gauges.<br /><br />Finally, Team Orange's D1 Evo X was on the show floor and at a Mitsubishi Ralliart shindig. The team's all-wheel-drive drifter came sporting a full carbon fiber body kit and wing, a new set of Enkeis and Lord knows what else.<br /><br />Check the gallery below for more live shots from the Tokyo Auto Salon.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-evolution-x-at-the-tokyo-auto-salon/low/">Mitsubishi Evolution X at the Tokyo Auto Salon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-evolution-x-at-the-tokyo-auto-salon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/lancer-evo-x-(11)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-evolution-x-at-the-tokyo-auto-salon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/lancer-evo-x-(12)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-evolution-x-at-the-tokyo-auto-salon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/lancer-evo-x-(13)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-evolution-x-at-the-tokyo-auto-salon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/lancer-evo-x-(14)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-evolution-x-at-the-tokyo-auto-salon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/lancer-evo-x-(15)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/16/tokyo-auto-salon-mitsubishi-evolution-x-gets-tuner-love-in-japa/">Tokyo Auto Salon: Mitsubishi Evolution X gets tuner love in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 16 Jan 2008 08:58:00 EST. Sure, they might lack some of the high-dollar production quality of other motoring shows, but they make up for it with mesmerizing track sessions and entertaining commentary. Case in point, in the recent edition of the Japanese-language video series, they've pitted the new Subaru Impreza WRX STI against the Mitsubishi Evolution X with the five-speed gearbox. But to make it even more interesting, they included the SST-equipped version of the Evo X, an Evo IX MR GSR and the last generation WRX STI. The video shows where each vehicle excels and falters, with a few choice gems coming from the drivers like, "Ohhhh, undudasteero!" and "sido-by-sido."<br /><br />The results may be surprising, but we won't spoil the ending. <p><span style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 7px;"> <script> var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/motorsport/New_STI_faster_than_the_EVO_X_2'; </script> <script src="http://digg.com/api/diggthis.js"></script></span>It didn't take long for Japan's journalists to get the new STI and EVO X side by side, and the results are now officially in. Tsukuba circuit regulars Kazuo Shimizu and Manabu Kawaguchi spent an afternoon thrashing around the notoriously twisty short circuit just north of Tokyo and here (drum roll please) are the best times they could ring out of the AWD rivals:</p>
<p>Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X : 1:06:46</p>
<p>Subaru Impreza WRX STI : 1:05:95</p>
<p>So there you have it. The new engine placed further forward in the engine bay of the EVO X than in the EVO IX has indeed proven to be a handicap, while the STI's "wheel at each corner" longer wheelbase plus new double wishbone rear suspension has proved its worth.</p>
<p>Neither car is quite as quick as its immediate ancestor though. <br /></p>
<p>Check out this 15 year rivalry of the EVO vs the STI as recorded at Tsukuba after the jump.<br /></p>

The Evolution's introduction in the States was quickly followed by the STI's, and all was right in the AWD performance segment. Not quite. Mitsubishi needs a direct competitor to the base WRX and as <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/02/more-on-the-lancer-ralliart/">we've seen</a> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/27/mitsubishis-new-wrx-rival-ralliart-caught-testing/">already</a>, the Ralliart moniker is coming back, and it won't be limited to a couple of stickers and 15-inch O.Z. wheels.<br /><br />Some European journalists were assembled by Mitsubishi this week (likely an Evo X ride and drive) and it was revealed that a five-door version of the Lancer would be made available abroad sporting a 260 hp engine and the Evolution IX's all-wheel-drive system. If this is the same setup as the Ralliart Lancer we'll be getting in the U.S., that pegs the 2008 Subaru WRX with a 36 hp deficiency, not to mention the wizardry of the last generation Evo AWD system.<br /><br />Also noted in the article were three different versions of the Evolution X that our friends across the pond will get in the coming years, with models creating 295 hp, 330 hp and 360 hp. No surprise, since they've been blessed with a number of FQ-models over the course of the Evo's lifespan.<br /><br />[Source: 4Car]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/24/mitsubishi-lancer-ralliart-to-have-260-hp-engine-evo-ixs-awd/">Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart to have 260 HP engine, Evo IX's AWD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 24 Nov 2007 10:56:00 EST. The differences between our GSR and the MR aren't many, but depending on your preferences they might not be minor. The standard GSR has a radio and power accessories, but <span style="font-style: italic;">does not</span> come with a wing -- that would get added in the Sight, Sound, and Spoiler package, which throws in HID headlamps and a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate system. The optional package for the MR is the Technology Package, which adds goodies to the stereo system (like a subwoofer and hard drive), Bluetooth, navigation, and the Fast Key entry system.<br /><br />When it comes to inner workings, the GS rides on 18-inch Enkeis. The MR gets 18-inch BBS forged alloys, as well as Bilstein shock absorbers, Eibach springs, and 2-piece rotors. Voila. Lancer Evo X pricing <a href="http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/11/15/la-auto-show-2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-unofficial-pricing-info/">according to one source</a> will be around $30,000 for the GSR, and $36,000 for the MR. Follow the jump to read the full press release and options, and check out our live shots of the car's reveal in the gallery below. Video of the live introduction is also available after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/low/">2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/low/">2008 Mitsubishi EVO X</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-us-spec-2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-lands/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: US-spec 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution lands (VIDEO)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-us-spec-2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-lands/">LA 2007: US-spec 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution lands (VIDEO)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 14:57:00 EST. Want to see what the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424645/">turbocharger</a> looks like? Perhaps a close inspection of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424619/">ENKEI wheels</a> is warranted. Or maybe the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424630/">BBS Alloy wheels</a>? The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424647/">Bilstein shocks</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424632/">Eibach springs</a>? Mitsubishi even included naked shots of the Lancer Evolution X <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424636/">chassis</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424628/">body</a> (shown at right). <br /><br />The set also includes pics of both the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424639/">GSR interior</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/420416/">RS interior</a>, so we can see how much of a difference there is between the well-appointed digs of the more expensive model and the stripper variant. Turns out there's a lot, and the difference in bolstering on the seats of the GSR and RS is surprising. Plus, you lose the suede seat inserts, center armrest and some flashier trim in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/420416/">RS interior</a>, as well. The new pics have been added to our gallery and begin <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x/424639/">here</a>, and we've added captions on each one so you know what you're looking at. <br /><br />[Source: Mitsubishi]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/03/pics-aplenty-2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-x-detail-shots/">Pics Aplenty: 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X detail shots</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 03 Oct 2007 14:29:00 EST. Any car that can run a 13.8-second quarter mile is not slow, anyway. Consider that you get that kind of speed for a base price of $30,000, and 295 horsepower from two-liters is impressive. <em>C&amp;D</em>'s numbers are from the Evo GSR, and a JDM one at that, but changes for US-bound Evos are down to details. <br /><br />Putting the 295 horsepower and 300 lb/feet of torque to the ground in a seamless manner is a bucketful of acronyms. There's a new dual-clutch sequential gearbox called Twin-Clutch SST that is bolted to four coordinated systems that get the overall descriptor of Super All Wheel Control. S-AWC combines a center differential with yaw control, stability control, and a rear differential with separate clutches for the left and right wheels. The structure is stiffer and lighter, and in the boy-racer arena, the Evo's always been a sweet driver, which hasn't changed. In fact, the character of the car has become a little less uncouth, which purists may cry about, but the rest of us will just giggle like schoolgirls as the Evo X replicates the video game experience IRL. <br /><br />[Source: VWVortex]<br /><br />Thanks for the tip, Chris!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/24/candd-first-to-drive-the-slower-but-faster-mitsubishi-evo-grs/">C&amp;D first to drive the slower but faster Mitsubishi Evo GSR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Sep 2007 08:28:00 EST. Besides the fact that the Evo X is arguably Mitsubishi's most recognizable car, there is plenty of new technology that needs to be perfected before buyers can purchase this rocketship. Edmunds <span style="font-style: italic;">Inside Line</span> has video of the Evo X taking it to the 'Ring, and Mitsubishi's 4WD, 300+hp beast looks ready to be unleashed. A new paddle-shift twin-clutch supersport automatic joins the more traditional six-speed manual, and more powerful means of forced induction are rumored to lie under the hood. From its aggressive stance and sharp looks, to the increased performance potential, Mitsubishi looks like a lock to continue the Evo tradition. Hit the jump to view the Evo X in action from Germany's most famous car playground.<br /><br />[Source: YouTube]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/22/spy-video-mitsubishi-evo-x-in-motion/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Spy Video: Mitsubishi Evo X in motion</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/22/spy-video-mitsubishi-evo-x-in-motion/">Spy Video: Mitsubishi Evo X in motion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 22 Jul 2007 20:04:00 EST. The captured preproduction EVO X differs very little from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/">concept</a> shown <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/08/detroit-auto-show-mitsubishi-prototype-x-concept/">in Detroit</a> seven months ago, with a few exceptions. The rims look close but perhaps an inch smaller than the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128064/">concept</a>, less-expensive dual-projector headlamps were added, the cool as hell <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128510/">LED fog lights</a> were replaced with more traditional fog ambiance, and more conventional side mirrors replace the super-fly design statement from the concept.<br /><br />The Evo X figures to be a smash-hit for Mitsubishi with over 300 hp, amazing full-time AWD, a mega-stiff chassis, and a paddle-shift <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/10/mitsubishi-releases-details-on-s-awc-and-twin-clutch-sst/">dual-clutch transmission</a>. We hope Mitsubishi can deliver on the affordable price-point that has been established with previous EVOs while upping the performance ante one more time.<br /><br />[Source: Motor Authority]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/11/spy-shots-mitsubishi-evo-x-totally-uncovered/">Spy Shots: Mitsubishi EVO X totally uncovered</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 11 Jul 2007 16:58:00 EST. KGP Photography recently nabbed <em>both</em> cars doing testing at the famous Nurburgring in Germany, and they are each shaping up to be beasts compared to their pedestrian counterparts. Though Subaru decided to be different and go with a five-door hatchback form, the hump in the back doesn't detract from what the large fenders, deep chin spoiler and gaping maw of an air intake are trying to accomplish. And seriously, can matte black be an available color choice?<br /><br />The EVO X, meanwhile, has a face that perfectly frames its intercooler in the front bumper for all to see. Add to that a giant rear wing on the trunk and larger multi-spoke wheels, and again it's clear that this car is ready to take up the torch. <br /><br />Both cars will be all-wheel drive, both will have 300 or more horsepower and both are waiting impatiently to tear the other apart in a decent comparison test. Before those last two hit the market, Mitsubishi intends to slap a fifth door onto the back of the Lancer and call it the Sportback.<br /><br />The next addition to the Lancer family will debut in "concept" form at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will specifically be geared towards European consumers. That doesn't mean those of us in the States will be left out, and we'd expect an Evo Sportback as well.<br /><br />Mitsubishi's press release is posted after the jump.<br /><br />[Source: Mitsubishi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/26/lancer-sportback-coming-to-frankfurt/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lancer Sportback coming to Frankfurt</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/26/lancer-sportback-coming-to-frankfurt/">Lancer Sportback coming to Frankfurt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 26 Jun 2007 17:35:00 EST. While Baines won't be winning an Oscar his short film's production values, it stands as one of if not the only glimpse we've had of the production Mitsubishi EVO X on public roads being tested. Baines came across the car while driving around one day, and after confirming the boss was away for the day, hit the street to track down the EVO X mule with camera in hand. Not only was Baines able to follow the car and get some decent enough footage of it being driven on public roads, afterwards he approached its drivers in a parking lot who were very tight-lipped and made a hasty exit. While it's difficult to glean new info about the car from the video, one thing that's obvious is the giant rear wing out back that appears to be slightly bowed on the new EVO. <br /><br />Follow the jump for the full video, which is the tastiest morsel of EVO X news we've had all year. <br /><br />Thanks for vid, Corey Baines!<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/15/video-autoblog-reader-runs-down-mitsubishi-evo-x-mule-on-public/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Autoblog reader runs down Mitsubishi EVO X mule on public roads</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/15/video-autoblog-reader-runs-down-mitsubishi-evo-x-mule-on-public/">VIDEO: Autoblog reader runs down Mitsubishi EVO X mule on public roads</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Mar 2007 03:31:00 EST. The S-AWC automatic center diff splits the power to the front and rear, with Mitsubishi's Active Yaw Control rear diff and Active Skid Control stability control keeping all that turbocharged fury under control. And just how much fury might we expect? Mitsubishi states that final ratings are not available pending ongoing development, but promises that this will be the most powerful Evo <em>ever</em>, aided by an "over-engineered" open-deck block and reciprocating assembly that were optimized for use with high boost levels. <br /> <br /> Click through for more thoughts, the full press release from Mitsubishi, and please do yourself a favor and check out the Prototype X's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/">high-resolution gallery</a> with 88 pics that deserve to be a good desktop wallpaper. <br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128134/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/mitsubishi-prototype-x---12_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128089/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/mitsubishi-prototype-x---01_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128064/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/mitsubishi-prototype-x---08_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128097/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/mitsubishi-prototype-x---10_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128117/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/mitsubishi-prototype-x---06_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><br /> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128078/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/16-prototype-x-action_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128106/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/70-prototype-x-engine_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128059/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/25-prototype-x-action_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128095/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/67-prototype-x--wheel_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/128100/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/65-prototype-x-exhaust_thumbnail.jpg" /></a><br /> <em>Click <strong><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-prototype-x/">here</a></strong> to see <strong>78 more</strong> high-res images!</em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/08/detroit-auto-show-mitsubishi-prototype-x-concept/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Detroit Auto Show: Mitsubishi Prototype X concept</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/08/detroit-auto-show-mitsubishi-prototype-x-concept/">Detroit Auto Show: Mitsubishi Prototype X concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 08 Jan 2007 16:10:00 EST.
