Is the company refusing to submit vehicles for crash testing?
Europe's crash testing authority, Euro NCAP, has published a series of new tests that includes the latest small and fuel efficient models offered there. The top scorers in the small car segment, with five star results, were the Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20 and Kia Soul. The Audi Q5 and the Peugeot 3008 also scored the maximum in their category. What Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP, said that the findings should help combat the false feeling that only large cars are safe: "Many cl
With an overall score of 79 percent, the Toyota iQ got the 5 stars that mark it as one of the safest vehicles European roads. The car could've had a better score, but pedestrian protection was rated a poor 54 percent. However, the iQ scored top marks in driver's seat protection, partly thanks to its 9 (!) standard airbags distributed around the car. The iQ also includes ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control. You can't compare the iQ's rest results aga
Although you can no longer say that the new Ibiza is small, it still plays a role in the European supermini segment. It's about 4-meters long, about the size of a Golf II series. Nevertheless, it's good to know that you don't have to be a big kid to be safe. The Spanish-German Ibiza got 5 stars at the EuroNCAP test in both frontal and side impact tests. During the front impact, the dashboard protected occupants correctly but there were some concerns raised about the steering column. Keep an eye

The passenger compartment remained intact and the doors didn't pop out or buckle. Small cars can be built to be safe and hopefully whatever Chrysler ultimately sources from Chery w
digg_url = 'http://digg.com/business_finance/Evidently_Chinese_carmakers_just_don_t_get_the_hang_of_that_safety_thing'; Chrysler might want to take another look at its deal with China's Chery Motors to build small cars for it after another video of a European crash test has popped up on YouTube. Russian car magazine AutoRevu had a Chery Amulet sedan crash-tested in accordance with the EuroNCAP standards. After going through the frontal offset crash, the car appears to have done even worse than
The gang in Detroit aren't the only carmakers who aren't thrilled by the prospect of some new regulations that will affect emissions and fuel economy. The Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association recently released their opinions of the EU proposal to restrict CO2 emissions to 130g/km. The members of JAMA don't think they can meet the requirements in the time-frame alloted. The combination of emissions, environmental and safety standards will make it hard to meet the new requirements.
