<br />
It happens every year. We bid <em>adieu</em> to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.<br />
<br />
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lexus">Lexus</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lexus/hs+250h/"> HS 250h</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/r-class/">Mercedes-Benz R-Class</a> and the full <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/maybach/">Maybach</a> lineup appear, while the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford">Ford</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/escape+hybrid/"> Escape Hybrid</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mazda">Mazda</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mazda/cx-7/"> CX-7</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/veracruz"> Veracruz</a> are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/jeep">Jeep</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/jeep+liberty"> Liberty</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chrysler/town+and+country/">Chrysler Town &amp; Country</a> (which will <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/30/marchionne-confirms-compass-town-and-country-to-die-dart-to-get/">eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle</a>).<br />
<br />

<br />
After teasing us earlier in the week with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/12/2013-hyundai-elantra-gt-to-start-at-18-395/">a bit of info</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a> has officially announced full pricing for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra">2013 Elantra GT</a>. Buyers can pick up the five-door with a six-speed manual transmission starting at $18,395, excluding a $775 destination fee. Those who opt for a six-speed automatic gearbox will be asked to pony up an additional $1,000. The model includes niceties like standard heated front seats, projection head lights and fog lights. That base price also covers the model's new driver-selectable steering system and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/bluetooth">Bluetooth</a> hands-free calling. A 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine good for 148 horsepower sits under the hood.<br />
<br />
While we knew the base price would also cover alloys, if you want the larger 17-inch wheels, you'll have to opt for the $2,750 Style Package, which also throws in a sportier suspension, panoramic sunroof and leather seats among other tricks. Consumers may also opt for a $2,350 Technology Package. The equipment group requires the Style Package and includes navigation with a seven-inch information screen, a rear-view camera and automatic headlights. Check out the <a href="/2012/06/13/hyundai-releases-full-2013-elantra-gt-pricing/#continued">full press release</a> for more information.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/14/hyundai-releases-full-2013-elantra-gt-pricing-equipment/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyundai releases full 2013 Elantra GT pricing, equipment</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/14/hyundai-releases-full-2013-elantra-gt-pricing-equipment/">Hyundai releases full 2013 Elantra GT pricing, equipment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 14 Jun 2012 11:30:00 EST. <br />
We don't have all the details just yet, but <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a> has announced via <a href="https://twitter.com/Hyundai/status/212578978110775297">Twitter</a> that the <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/elantra+gt">2013 Elantra GT</a> (ne&eacute; <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring/">Touring</a>) will be priced from $18,395. This does not include the destination charge(*) - Hyundai normally releases pricing numbers that don't factor in delivery, etc. - but we expect it to add around $775 to the GT's final price.<br />
<br />
The five-door GT will be <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/08/2013-hyundai-elantra-coupe-chicago-2012/">joined by a two-door Coupe</a> to expand the popular Elantra franchise to three bodystyles for 2013.<br />
<br />
According to Hyundai's tweet - attributed to North American CEO <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/krafcik/">John Krafcik</a>, no less - the GT's base price includes standard features like alloy wheels, seven airbags, heated seats, fog lamps and the automaker's Blue Link infotainment system.<br />
<br />
Full GT pricing information is expected to be released soon and we're betting the Coupe won't be far behind, so stay tuned to this space for the official details.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/12/2013-hyundai-elantra-gt-to-start-at-18-395/">2013 Hyundai Elantra GT to start at $18,395*</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 12 Jun 2012 13:27:00 EST. <br />
Truth be told, every 2012 Hyundai model save for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring/">Elantra Touring</a> already <em>had </em>a brake override system fitted. So why the announcement, and why now? Well, other than just tweaking <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/toyota/">Toyota</a>, whose <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/unintended+acceleration/">unintended acceleration</a> problems led to widespread <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/toyota+recall/">recalls</a>, a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/19/report-house-subcommittee-petitions-toyota-for-secret-documents/">Congressional investigation</a>, and prompted the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/nhtsa/">National Highway Traffic Safety Administration</a> to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/12/nhtsa-wants-brake-throttle-override-systems-added-to-official-sa/">propose requiring brake override systems on all new cars</a>, the announcement likely has more to do with the end of Elantra Touring production than it does with anything else.<br />
<br />
The old Hyundai <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/i30/">i30</a>, on which the Elantra Touring was based, has been redesigned, and reviews of the new model have already started showing up <a href="http://www.caradvice.com.au/136664/2012-hyundai-i30-facelift-revealed-ahead-of-frankfurt-show/">on foreign automotive websites</a>. We won't get our version of the i30, dubbed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/08/2013-hyundai-elantra-gt-chicago-2012/">Elantra GT</a> here in the U.S., until later in the summer.<br />
<br />
We'll be driving the GT in June and we promise to issue a full report, though we're going to try to avoid testing this new technology.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/05/hyundai-announces-standard-brake-override-for-all-models/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyundai announces standard brake-override for all models</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/05/hyundai-announces-standard-brake-override-for-all-models/">Hyundai announces standard brake-override for all models</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 05 May 2012 15:03:00 EST. <br />
Around Autoblog HQ, we likey the wagons. And the the latest Hyundai i30 is one of our favorite road-going interpretations of the automaker's "fluidic sculpture" design language. But while the i30 hatch - a.k.a. the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/13/2012-hyundai-i30-elantra-touring-frankfurt-2011/">Elantra Touring</a> in the States - fits the bill for most, Hyundai recognizes that some people need more and that's what the i30 Wagon delivers.<br />
<br />
Hyundai's hexagonal grille, gem-like headlights and restyled taillights take the i30 from ho-hum family-hauling econobox to something boarding on stylish - a challenge for a utilitarian people mover - and the additional cargo space is surely a welcome addition for families with more kit to carry.<br />
<br />
The interior gets a generous dose of upgrades as well, including a two-tone IP, creamy leather seats, brushed aluminum accents and a steering wheel full of redundant controls. This new i30 could be the perfect competitor to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/JettaSportwagen/">Jetta Sportwagen</a> in the U.S., but Hyundai remains mum on its chances of making it across the Atlantic.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/07/2013-hyundai-i30-wagon-geneva-2012/">2013 Hyundai i30 Wagon hauls in high style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 07 Mar 2012 04:32:00 EST. <br />
We're big fans of the latest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra/">Hyundai Elantra</a>. Offering a generally refined driving experience, a good amount of room for its class and a smorgasbord of options all at a reasonable price, the Elantra is more than competitive with the best vehicles in its class.<br />
<br />
One thing the Elantra will never be accused of, though, is being too sporty. With 148 horsepower and 131 pound-feet of torque from its 1.8-liter four cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic gearbox, the Elantra has adequate power and scores extra points for fuel economy. That's all well and good, but that's just not enough oomph to compete with machines like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/volkswagen/gti/">Volkswagen GTI</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/civic/">Honda Civic</a> Si and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/02/2011-mini-cooper-s-first-drive-review-road-test/">Mini Cooper S</a>.<br />
<br />
Interestingly enough, those are the exact vehicles mentioned by <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a> as competitors for its innovative three-door <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/veloster/">Veloster Turbo</a>. According to a report from <em>Auto Express</em>, the Elantra may one day get a welcome injection of power courtesy of a turbocharged engine just like its little brother.<br />
<br />
According to AE, the Veloster Turbo's 1.6-liter mill, which puts out respectable figures of 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 194 pound-feet of torque from 1,750 rpm, is slated as an option for the three-door hatchback version of the UK's <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/i30">Hyundai i30</a> (that's the Elantra in the States). Sounds pretty good to us Yanks, though we're hoping the forced-induction love is spreads across the range to the GT five-door hatch and sedan, as well.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/14/hyundai-mulling-elantra-turbo/">Hyundai mulling Elantra turbo?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 14 Feb 2012 18:10:00 EST. <br />
Based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/27/hyundai-says-elantra-sales-to-slow-because-factory-cant-keep-up/">can't-make-enough status</a> of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra">Hyundai Elantra</a>, the public hasn't gotten tired of Hyundai's "fluidic sculpture" design theme. Based on this commercial for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/13/2012-hyundai-i30-elantra-touring-frankfurt-2011/">Hyundai i30</a>, we admit that we haven't either. The five-door sold in Europe and based on the Kia Cee'd platform shows us what we can generally expect from the upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring/">Elantra Touring</a> replacement.<br />
<br />
The last Elantra wagon didn't get big play here three years ago, but neither the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra/">Elantra</a> nor Hyundai were in the position they're in now. In Europe, the i30 five-door will get a choice of four engines and three transmissions, but we shouldn't expect to be so spoiled for choice. <a href="/2012/02/04/hyundai-i30-commercial-gives-good-look-at-coming-elantra-five-do/#continued">Follow the jump</a> to see the video.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/04/hyundai-i30-commercial-gives-good-look-at-coming-elantra-five-do/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyundai i30 commercial previews upcoming Elantra five-door</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/04/hyundai-i30-commercial-gives-good-look-at-coming-elantra-five-do/">Hyundai i30 commercial previews upcoming Elantra five-door</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 04 Feb 2012 08:33:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/">Hyundai</a> has just confirmed that a two-door coupe version of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra">Elantra</a> is coming, but <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/07/hyundai-elantra-coupe-to-show-up-at-la-show/">despite prior speculation</a> pegging its debut at next week's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/la-auto-show/">LA Auto Show</a>, the Korean automaker will be waiting until next February at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chicago-auto-show/">2012 Chicago Auto Show</a> to do the reveal.<br />
<br />
We've seen the car, and the Elantra Coupe looks much like your regular four-door Elantra but with two less ports of entry and a much more sporting flair. Hyundai hopes to differentiate the coupe from the sedan by giving it a different set of gear ratios for a more sporting driving experience. The Elantra Coupe will also get its own unique SE trim level, which as we know based on Hyundai's traditional trim designations, is the sporty trim. The company expects the coupe to make up 20 percent of the Elantra's volume, and its obvious target is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/civic/">Honda Civic</a> Coupe, as well as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/kia/forte+koup/">Kia Forte Koup</a> that will share the same basic underpinnings.<br />
<br />
In other Elantra news, Hyundai has also confirmed that a new five-door Elantra, heretofore called the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring/">Elantra Touring</a>, will arrive in 2013. We've already seen this model; it's called the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/13/2012-hyundai-i30-elantra-touring-frankfurt-2011/">i30 in Europe</a> where it's already debuted. The new five-door hatchback will not, however, retain the Elantra Touring name. Hyundai is keeping the new name close to its chest, but did tell us that the car will be called "Elantra <em>something</em>."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/11/hyundai-elantra-coupe-confirmed-coming-to-chicago/">Hyundai Elantra Coupe confirmed, coming to Chicago</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 11 Nov 2011 10:45:00 EST. <br />
There's plenty to love about the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/veloster">Hyundai Veloster</a>. Elegance might not be one of those things, but depending on your perspective, its unique door arrangement surely is. It's got one door on the driver's side, two on the passenger and a big liftgate around back. But now it looks set to get one more door, as a new report from <em>Car and Driver </em>suggests a second aperture is planned for the left side, bringing the total door count up to a more conventional five.<br />
<br />
The second driver's side door is reportedly being installed for markets like the UK, where the driver sits on the <strike>wrong</strike> other side (a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/20/mini-to-offer-five-door-derivative-of-next-generation-hatchback/">similar</a> problem to what <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mini/">Mini</a> found with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mini/clubman/">Clubman</a>). But that addition could be destined for the US market as well. For our part we'll echo C/D's sentiment that we'd sooner have a turbocharged Veloster in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/">Hyundai</a> showrooms than a five-door version, but we'll take what we can get. For now.<br />
<br />
The Veloster with the extra door wouldn't be the only new five-door planned for Hyundai's lineup, as an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring/">Elantra Touring</a> based on the new European-market <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/i30">i30</a> sportwagon/hatchback is <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/06/2013-hyundai-elantra-touring-going-five-door-leaving-the-wagon/">widely expected</a> to make the transatlantic voyage as well. Apparently the Korean automaker thinks there's enough room in its range for both.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/11/hyundai-mulling-five-door-veloster-for-u-s/">Hyundai mulling five-door Veloster for U.S.</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 11 Oct 2011 11:33:00 EST. <br />
The <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/i30">Hyundai i30</a> isn't just any ordinary Euro-market compact hatchback. Flash back to 2009 and remember that the i30 was brought over to the United States as the <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring">Elantra Touring</a>, and while it didn't make an enormous splash, <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a> officials tell us they are still committed to offering the Touring model here in the States. And with a stylish new i30 ready for the importing, the rakish <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra">Elantra</a> sedan will now have an attractive five-door counterpart to do battle with the <a href="http://autoblog.com/ford/focus">Ford Focus</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/mazda/mazda3">Mazda3</a>.<br />
<br />
Up until now, the rear end of the i30 had been a mystery, and now that we've given the car a full walk-around, we're quite happy with the way Hyundai's "Fluidic Sculpture" design language has been presented on this hatchback. The rear fascia gets the same sort of mildly aggressive look as the front, and the whole package looks nicely rounded-out. See for yourself in our attached high-res image gallery, and look for the i30 to head Stateside before you know it.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/13/2012-hyundai-i30-elantra-touring-frankfurt-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2012 Hyundai i30 says, "Call me Elantra Touring"</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/13/2012-hyundai-i30-elantra-touring-frankfurt-2011/">2012 Hyundai i30 says, "Call me Elantra Touring"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 13 Sep 2011 16:01:00 EST. <br />
Is that you, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring/">Elantra Touring</a>?<br />
<br />
When <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai">Hyundai</a> debuted the swoopy new <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra">2011 Elantra</a>, we were told that a hatchback-shaped <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/15/hyundai-planning-new-elantra-touring-based-on-2011-elantra-sedan/">Touring model would be coming down the pipeline</a>, and since the last-generation model was nearly identical to the then-current i30 sold overseas, it would only make sense that this new five-door will make its way Stateside at some point (albeit with the necessary Europe-to-America adjustments). And might we say, she's quite unique looking, with a distinct bow-element grille and mirroring lower fascia.<br />
<br />
Mum's the word on what sort of powertrains lie under the hood, and we'd really like to see what that rear hatch looks like, but we'll have those details within the next couple of days, as Hyundai is set to debut the all-new i30 at the <a href="http://autoblog.com/category/frankfurt-motor-show">Frankfurt Motor Show</a> next week. We're confident it'll fit right in with the plethora of diesel-powered hatches that fill the streets of Europe, and we're eager to see if it shows up Stateside. <a href="/2011/09/07/hyundai-previews-new-i30-ahead-of-frankfurt/#continued">Hit the jump</a> for Hyundai's official press release.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/07/hyundai-previews-new-i30-ahead-of-frankfurt/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyundai previews new i30 ahead of Frankfurt</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/07/hyundai-previews-new-i30-ahead-of-frankfurt/">Hyundai previews new i30 ahead of Frankfurt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 07 Sep 2011 10:30:00 EST. <br />
Fear not, hatchback fans. According to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/hyundai">Hyundai</a> CEO John Krafcik, the next-generation <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra">Hyundai Elantra Touring</a> will debut in late 2012 as a 2013 model. Krafcik tells Autoblog that while the Elantra sedan is styled specifically for the American market, the Elantra Touring is being penned with European customers in mind. The company sells a long-roof version of the Elantra in the old country under the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/i30">i30</a> banner, but from what we understand, American buyers will get a taste of the next-generation vehicle in about two years.<br />
<br />
"We launched the Elantra touring a couple of years after we launched the Elantra and we're going to have the same model cycle for Elantra Touring here," Krafcik said. "We're going to get the next-generation i30 here in the U.S. market in a couple of years."<br />
<br />
But don't expect the vehicle to share too much DNA with the old long-roof Elantra. Krafcik tells AB that the new Touring will be significantly different from the model on sale right now: "It's a great design. The Elantra Touring design actually came out of our California studio. We're going to go with the shorter five-door hatchback bodystyle instead of the larger wagon style we have now."<br />
<br />
That means that when it debuts, the 2013 Elantra Touring will be squaring off against the likes <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/focus">2012 Ford Focus</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/mazda3">Mazda3</a> in a big way. While no one at Hyundai was willing to say exactly how much fuel economy we can plan on seeing from the five-door Elantra, we'd be surprised to see the figures slip much below the 29 mpg city and 40 mpg highway of the sedan. <br />
<br />

<br />
During <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/hyundai">Hyundai</a>'s product briefing on the 2011 <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/elantra">Elantra</a> last week, the automaker confirmed that a new version of the five-door <a href="http://autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring">Elantra Touring</a> will be coming our way, based heavily on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/15/2011-hyundai-elantra-revealed/">swoopy new sedan</a> that will debut at this year's <a href="http://autoblog.com/la-auto-show">LA Auto Show</a>.<br />
<br />
In its current form, the Touring's styling is quite different from that of the milquetoast sedan, though equipment levels and interior fittings are relatively similar between the two models. Hyundai Motor America President and CEO, John Krafcik, says that the automaker is still committed to offering the Elantra Touring here in the United States, but since that car is based on the i30 sold in other markets, we won't see an updated version until a short time after the sedan's launch. Krafcik confirmed that the new Touring will share the vast majority of its styling elements with that of the sedan, and that the two models will be better recognized as part of the same Elantra family.<br />
<br />
No official time frame was given as to when we'll see the new Elantra Touring, but since the i30 is due for a refresh in the near term, we'd expect to see the production model crop up sometime during the 2011 calendar year.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Kelley Blue Book Top 10 Cars for under $18k - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
Being in the market for a cheap new car used to mean resigning yourself to time bombs like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/chevrolet/">Chevrolet</a> Citation or windups like the Geo Metro or <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/ford/">Ford</a> Aspire, but the times, they are a-changin', and the good folk at <em>Kelley Blue Book</em> have worked up their very own top 10 list of cool cars for under $18,000.<br />
<br />
Not surprisingly, the 2011 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/fiesta">Ford Fiesta</a> nabbed a mention thanks to its 28 mpg city, 40 mpg highway EPA rating and mile-long standard feature list. Likewise, the new 2010 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring">Hyundai Elantra Touring</a> received a spot on the list. The Korean automaker's new long roof manages 23 city and 30 <strike>mph</strike> mpg highway thanks to its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. <br />
<br />
The base <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mitsubishi/lancer">Mitsubishi Lancer</a> also made the cut - another 2.0-liter bruiser, the baby brother of the Evolution nabs 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/suzuki/">Suzuki</a> also got some love on the <em>KBB</em> list with its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/suzuki/sx4">SX4</a>. When optioned with the five-speed gearbox, the car walks away with 23 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. Rounding out the list is the ever lovable <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/fit">2010 Honda Fit</a>. Just like the Suzuki, if you want a few more miles per tank, you'll need to opt for the manual transmission. Thusly equipped, the little Honda can 28 mpg city and up to 35 mpg highway.<br />

<br /> If the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring">Hyundai Elantra Touring</a> is singing your song, the music just got quite a bit better. The Korean automaker has announced a price reduction on the 2010 base model to the tune of $1,800. The 2009 Elantra Touring, a compact five-door hatchback, sat in showrooms with a base price of $18,520 (all prices include the $720 shipping charge) while the 2010 model rolls in wearing a much more pleasing $16,715 sticker this fall.<br /> <br /> The 2010 model will also be available in three trim levels: GLS with a 5-speed manual ($16,715), GLS with a 4-speed automatic ($17,915), and SE with a 5-speed manual ($19,715). All models hum along with the same 2.0-liter, inline 4-cylinder engine (rated at 138 hp and 136 lb-ft of torque) sending power to the front wheels. The base GLS models are fitted with standard stability control and a 172-watt sound system with Satellite Radio and iPod/USB jacks. For its extra C-notes, the SE model turns up the music with a standard sunroof, heated front seats, B&amp;M Racing short-throw shifter, and 17-inch alloy wheels with more aggressive tires.<br /> <br /> We've <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/04/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/">reviewed a 2009 Elantra Touring</a> with the automatic and found it way too soft to be a fun daily commuter. Hyundai then loaned us a model with the 5-speed manual, 17-inch wheels and short-throw shifter, which you'll soon be able to read about in an updated review. Short story: If you care about how your car drives, go for the SE with the larger wheels.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring">Review: 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/000_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/004_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/001_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/002_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/003_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=155047">Inside Line</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/14/hyundai-shaves-1-800-off-price-of-2010-elantra-touring/">REPORT: Hyundai shaves $1,800 off price of 2010 Elantra Touring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 14 Aug 2009 11:28:00 EST. <br />While the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration doesn't plan to release its final rules and regulations for the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS), otherwise known as Cash-for-Clunkers program, until July 23rd, Hyundai has decided that its customers don't have to wait. Alexandria Hyundai in Alexandria, VA has already accepted the first trade-in and doled out its first rebate. The clunker is a 15-mpg 1995 Ford Explorer, and Katherine Michon of Arlington, VA traded it in for a $4,500 credit on a brand new 26-mpg <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/04/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/">Hyundai Elantra Touring</a>. <br /><br />How can Hyundai get away with accepting clunkers early? The automaker is giving dealers short-term cash advances to cover the cost of its rebates until the CARS program officially kicks off later this month. Hyundai has 13 models with particular engine combinations that qualify for CARS, and the NHTSA has already confirmed that transactions on or after July 1, 2009 are eligible.<br /><br />This could be a brilliant move on Hyundai's part, since its own internal research shows that 11 percent of car shoppers have delayed their purchase to take advantage of the rebates. If Hyundai is the only game in town that's accepting trade-ins and giving rebates early, it could steal a few sales away from other brands that are waiting patiently for the program to officially begin. <br /><br />On the other hand, the NHTSA warns on the <a href="http://www.cars.gov/">CARS official website</a> that "interested dealers and consumers may want to wait until all of the detailed issues that must be addressed in the implementing regulations are resolved and the final rule is issued." By that time, however, you'll be driving around in a new car and getting reimbursed for the rebate will by Hyundai's problem.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring">Review: 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/000_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/004_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/001_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/002_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/003_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Hyundai]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/hyundai-starts-accepting-cash-for-clunkers-trade-ins-early/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyundai starts accepting Cash-for-Clunkers trade-ins early</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/hyundai-starts-accepting-cash-for-clunkers-trade-ins-early/">Hyundai starts accepting Cash-for-Clunkers trade-ins early</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 17:28:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><small>2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></span><br /></div>
<br /> Hyundai has been batting a thousand of late, with new vehicles like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/13/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-hyundai-genesis-sedan/">Genesis sedan</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/31/first-drive-2010-hyundai-genesis-coupe/">Genesis coupe</a> shaking up their respective segments and leaving class leaders looking over their shoulders. The equally new Elantra Touring hasn't created as much buzz as its rear-wheel-drive brethren, but the five-door hatchback competes with a host of vehicles available in the sub-$20,000 range, all of which are screaming for attention from an increasingly picky buyer who demands something practical, affordable and efficient for his dwindling dollars. <br /> <br /> In order to be heard above the noise, Hyundai chose to import one of its existing models from abroad rather than developing a new Elantra model from scratch. They chose the i30, designed in Germany and currently on sale in Europe, Australia and South Korea. The Elantra Touring is very much a direct port of the i30 and actually has little in common with the four-door Elantra sedan, save for its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and transmission choices. Rather, its closest mechanical cousin is the Euro-only Kia cee'd. <br /> <br /> It would seem, then, that the i30 was not originally developed with U.S. customers in mind. Will the resulting Elantra Touring be a hit here, or has Hyundai finally foul tipped a ball? Follow the jump to find out.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring">Review: 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/000_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/004_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/001_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/002_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/003_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 John Neff / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/04/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/04/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/">Review: 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 04 May 2009 12:00:00 EST. <br />Sold as the i30 elsewhere in the world, the new Hyundai Elanta Touring five-door compact will arrive soon on our shores with a base price of $18,495, which includes a $695 delivery charge. That price will put a base model Elantra Touring in your garage with a five-speed manual transmission topped with a B&amp;M shifter. Like all Hyundais, the list of standard equipment that comes with the Elantra Touring is long and includes items like air conditioning, remote keyless entry, steering wheel-mounted cruise control and audio controls, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, a cooled glove box and 172-Watt AM/FM/XM Satellite Radio/CD/MP3 audio system with USB and auxiliary input jacks. It also comes with Electronic Stability Control as standard equipment, which is nice to see at this price point. In fact, the only option is a Premium-Sport package that adds a power sunroof, heated front seats and 17-inch alloy wheels with P215/45VR17 tires. A maxxed out Elantra Touring with a four-speed automatic and the Premium-Sport package will go for $20,795, which is not a bad price to pay for a fun and practical five-door compact that can swallow 65.3 cubic feet of stuff with its rear seats folded and return 31 mpg on highway. Whether or not buyers in a bruised and battered economy will agree remains to be seen.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1">2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i301_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i302_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i303_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i304_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i305_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Hyundai] <span style="font-style: italic;"></span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/hyundai-elantra-touring-priced-from-18-495/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyundai Elantra Touring priced from $18,495</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/hyundai-elantra-touring-priced-from-18-495/">Hyundai Elantra Touring priced from $18,495</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 23 Dec 2008 14:29:00 EST. Since then, we've been interested in seeing what it looks like in non-Phoenix Suns colors augmented with a tribal tattoo pattern. Today, we get our wish. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/602368/"><img width="250" vspace="4" hspace="4" height="199" border="1" align="right" alt="Hyundai Elantra Touring" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/hyundaielantratouring7_lo.jpg" /></a>Hyundai has officially unveiled the 2009 Elantra Touring at the Montreal International Auto Show, giving us a proper look at the car we can expect to see in showrooms a little later this year. Sold in Europe as the i30 CW, the Elantra Touring is a handsome small wagon with a nicely-detailed interior. The instrumentation and switchgear look like quality stuff, leather's optional, and it has both USB and AUX ports for iPod compatibility. Power comes from a 2.0L four-banger making 141 horses mated to a five-speed manual or an optional 4-speed automatic. Exterior accents include subtle brightwork on the front and rear bumpers, available 17" wheels, and wraparound headlamps. In all, the Elantra Touring looks like a practical, appealing package. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but we expect it to be very competitive, in keeping with Hyundai's value-oriented approach.<br /><br />[Source: TheCarBlogger]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1">2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i301_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i302_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i303_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i304_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hyundai-elantra-touring-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_i305_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/23/hyundai-elantra-touring-unveiled-in-montreal/">2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring unveiled in Montreal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 23 Jan 2008 08:27:00 EST. <p>We really don't know what to say about the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/25/sema-preview-hyundai-elantra-touring-beach-cruiser-concept/">Hyundai Elantra Touring "Beach Cruiser" Concept</a>, except that you probably shouldn't take it to the beach... or anywhere else... except for a long drive... off a short pier, which could count as a beach activity. </p>
<p>Mind you, we're not talking about the car, which underneath is the new Elantra Touring that will begin production soon. Beneath that Amazing Grape and Tango Orange wood paneling paint job, the five-door hatch appears to have some nice lines, even if they are reminiscent of the first gen Ford Focus. It also looks like it will lend itself well to being dropped and tuned, just not like this. Although, we do dig the artistic piece of pin striping on the hood. And first prize goes to the person who guesses how many Hyundai H logos there are on the car... Hint: look at the grilles, speaker ones included.</p>
