Ford of Europe has started making a version of the Fiesta compact that the company says gets 71 miles per gallon on the forgiving European driving cycle, making the new Fiesta Ford's "most frugal car ever."
Ford UK has announced improvements to the C-Max model that bring the car into the important sub-120g/km of CO2 range. The 1.6 TDCi models now emit just 119g/km and that means the Vehicle Excise Duty has been reduced from £120 to £35 (£30 starting in April). With this improvement, Ford claims that it's become the UK's leading manufacturer of cars under the 120 g/km limit, with 51 models in total. Once April rolls around, the Fiesta 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter TDCi models will pay ev
Thanks to its widespread use and low emissions, the Ford ECOnetic lineup of cars, which are focused on low CO2 emissions, got an OekoGlobe 2008 award in Germany. The award, given in the category of "mass produced car," was designed by environmental artist HA Schult. The ceremony took place at the DEVK insurance building in Cologne, Germany. Ford started its lineup of ECOnetic cars last February and the name is derived from ECOlogy and kiNETIC, the design theme that Ford is using for its latest c
We're fully aware that Ford will be bringing the 62mpg, 98g/km CO2 Fiesta Econetic to the British Motor Show. What was less noticeable was just how much faith Ford is putting into how this fuel-efficient little ride and the others in the Econetic lineup. As the release pasted after the jump makes clear, Econetic models and other eco-friendly rides are responsible for a 38 percent sales "surge" in the UK, and Ford says the upcoming Fiesta Econetic will - it is hoped - continue this success. The Frankfurt Motor Show is turning into one hell of an event, with a metric ton of new vehicles set for an official unveiling. Ford intends to get in on the act, as we know the Blue Oval is unveiling the new Fiesta Verve Concept, and now it looks like a refreshed Focus is on the way as well. The Lehmann spy photo team caught a well disguised Focus in testing, but plenty of styling changes lie beneath. The refreshed Focus should carry more Mondeo-like Kinetic Design styling queues in the front f
At next month's Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford of Europe will show off a new line of powertrains that produce ultra-low levels of CO2. The engines will be common-rail diesels and will first appear in early 2008 under the hood of the Ford Focus ECOnetic. In the Focus, it should produce a class-leading 115g/km CO2 reading. This 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi engine features a standard diesel particulate filter and also returns 65.7 mpg on the cycle.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford will take the wraps off their own lineup of special low CO2 variants of their European model range. Joining VW's BlueMotion and GM's ecoFlex, Ford has created the ECOnetic brand for their cleanest models. The first one to hit the streets will be the Focus ECOnetic which will have CO2 emissions of just 115g/km.
