<strong> </strong>Christian Audigier won't leave us alone. The fashion designer responsible for decking out all the celebs in Ed Hardy and Von Dutch gear has made a killing off his overpriced wears, but apparently unsatisfied with infection of Hollywood, he's turned to motor vehicles as his unfortunate canvas.<br /><br />As if the tattoo'ed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/22/edo-competition-and-audigier-combine-for-limited-edition-designe/">Lamborghini Murcielago which Audigier created with Edo Competition</a> - which in turn spawned the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/17/racing-skull-ferrari-f430-calavera-by-unique-sportscars-and-nov/">Ferrari F430 Calavera</a> imitator - wasn't enough, he's set upon another exquisite piece of Italian exotica to tarnish: the Ducati Monster. Starting with the 1100cc superbike, Audigier and his partners at Rever Corsa have laid down some sort of dragon-tiger thing over a particularly gaudy red and gold paint scheme. This limited edition crotch rocket commands a $55,000 price tag, proving once again that money and taste don't always go hand in hand.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/low/">Ducati Monster by Christian Audigier</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0289_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0332_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0356_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0361_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0370_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.revercorsa.com/sales.html">Rever Corsa</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/03/christian-audigier-stikes-again-with-special-edition-ducati-mons/">Christian Audigier stikes again with special edition Ducati Monster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 08:58:00 EST. <br />Ducati's Monster range has always been fertile ground for owner customization. First introduced in 1993, the Monster kicked off the current naked bike craze, and modifications have managed to remain part of its basic appeal. To promote future Monsterization of its latest unclothed model, the Italian firm has just launched a dealer customization contest to coincide with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/25/officially-official-ducati-officially-releases-monster-1100-and/">arrival of the 1100 S</a> in dealership showrooms. To kick-start the process, Ducati has sent 58 of its dealerships an early set of body panels for paint and the full accessories catalog will be made available.<br /><br />Monster fans will get their first chance to view the bikes in real life on January 9th, though online voting is slated to begin on January 1, 2009 and will run through the 13th. It'll be interesting to see how successful dealerships are in walking the fine line between making a cool custom and detracting from the air-cooled machine's inherent sense of minimalist design. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/">Ducati Monster 1100 and 1100 S</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_05_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_06_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_01_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_02_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_03_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Ducati]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/11/ducati-launches-customization-contest-for-new-monster-1100-s/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ducati launches customization contest for new Monster 1100 S</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/11/ducati-launches-customization-contest-for-new-monster-1100-s/">Ducati launches customization contest for new Monster 1100 S</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 08:29:00 EST. <br />Ducati is about to release a new naked performance bike, but it's not a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/25/officially-official-ducati-officially-releases-monster-1100-and/">Monster</a>. The Italian motorcycle manufacturer has decided that all Monsters should be air-cooled, and so its liquid-cooled naked bikes will carry a new name. The 1099cc V-Twin engine comes from the firm's superbike range and pumps out 155 horsepower and 87.5 lb-ft of torque. That's plenty of arm-stretching power for a naked bike, and we're sure the Streetfighter will be quite the hooligan machine. This new platform has much more angular and menacing looks than its little Monster brother and carries the stacked exhaust cans from high-spec versions of the previous-gen Monster.<br /><br />The S model gets the expected &Ouml;hlins suspension upgrades along with Marchesini forged aluminum wheels; bronze-painted frame, wheels and swingarm; carbon fiber bits plus electronic goodies like standard traction control and data acquisition. Ducati's got a short teaser on its <a href="http://www.ducati.com/cover/main_en.html">home page</a> and reveals that all the goods will be available shortly. Expect the price to fall in the mid-teens and the waiting list to start at your local Ducati dealership.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-streetfighter/low/">Ducati Streetfighter</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-streetfighter/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ducati-streetfighter2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-streetfighter/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ducati-streetfighter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-streetfighter/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ducati-streetfighter1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://hellforleathermagazine.com/2008/11/ducati-streetfighter-and-stree.html">Hell For Leather</a>, <a href="http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2008/November/3-9/nov0409-ducati-1098-streetfighter-first-pictures/?R=EPI-103921">Motorcycle News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/ducati-unveils-streetfighter-in-milan/">Ducati unveils Streetfighter in Milan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 03 Nov 2008 16:58:00 EST. <br />Whenever an icon like the original Ducati Monster is restyled, the results are sure to be controversial. That was the case last year when the Italian bike-maker launched the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/06/ducati-officially-unveils-the-new-2008-monster-696/">Monster 696</a>, the only naked sportbike from Ducati using the new design for the model year. As <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/04/ducati-to-update-monster-range-with-1100-ds-engine/">expected</a>, 2009 brings an 1100cc addition to the new Monster range powered by the same air-cooled Desmo engine from the Multistrada and Hypermotard, though possibly updated with new cases for this application. Power output stands at 95-horsepower at 7500rpm and 79.5 lb-ft of torque at 6000rpm. It's that torque figure that will be most appreciated over that of the 696, which still remains available for '09. <br /><br />A single-sided swingarm makes the new 1100 stand apart from its smaller sibling, as do the slightly more massive dual exhausts. Both a standard Monster 1100 and a S-model will be available, the latter of which will include <span style="color: black;">a fully adjustable 43mm titanium nitride coated forks and a new progressive rear shock from Ohlins. A few extra carbon fiber bits help drop 2.2-pounds from the 1100's 371-pound dry weight and gold wheels give it some instant visual pizazz. <em>All the details are available in the press release after the break. *Updated with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/1058873/">larger gallery</a>.</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/">Ducati Monster 1100 and 1100 S</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_05_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_06_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_01_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_02_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100-and-1100-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/big_ducati_monster_1100_03_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100/low/">Ducati Monster 1100</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/monster11001100s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/1100-action_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/1100-cafe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/1100s-action_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/monster1100silver_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Ducati]<br /></span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/25/officially-official-ducati-officially-releases-monster-1100-and/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Officially Official: Ducati officially releases Monster 1100 and 1100 S</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/25/officially-official-ducati-officially-releases-monster-1100-and/">Officially Official: Ducati officially releases Monster 1100 and 1100 S</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 25 Sep 2008 18:58:00 EST. Last year, the only option available for fans of the original naked bike was the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/06/ducati-officially-unveils-the-new-2008-monster-696/">entry-level 696</a> engine. While that machine, with its throaty V-Twin and brand new chassis, was definitely a good bike, those looking for a bit more power either had to move on up the Italian manufacturers line or look elsewhere. As expected, Ducati will rectify that problem this year by dropping its excellent Dual Spark 1100cc air-cooled engine inside the Monster's shapely new trellis frame. Along with the engine upgrade, a single-sided swingarm spices things up at the rear and much improved Brembo radial mount brakes should equal huge and controllable stopping power. We're certain that the new Monster will make its formal debut at one of the upcoming motorcycle shows in Europe. Until then, enjoy these grainy spy shots.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-ducati-monster-1100/low/">Spy Shots: Ducati Monster 1100</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/monster_1100_1_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/monster_1100_2_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-ducati-monster-1100/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/monster_1100_3_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.ducatimonsterclub.it/index.php?option=com_smf&amp;Itemid=101&amp;topic=29344.0;topicseen">Ducati Monster Club</a> via <a href="http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2008/september/1-7/2009-Ducati-Monster-1100-spy-shots/">Motorcycle News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/04/ducati-to-update-monster-range-with-1100-ds-engine/">Ducati to update Monster range with 1100 DS engine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 04 Sep 2008 18:29:00 EST. <p>Let the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/27/a-redesigned-ducati-monster-on-the-way-for-08/">speculation end</a>! Ducati has <a href="http://www.motionparts.com/page.php?page=ducati_monster_696">officially unveiled</a> the 2008 Monster 696. Now that we know exactly what the new air-cooled Ducati Monster will look like, we're honestly a bit disappointed. It's not at all that the bike is bad looking, because it's not. The problem is that it's all covered up. We love naked bikes here at Autoblog, and this one's just not naked enough for our tastes. You not only miss out on the wind and road protection of a faired bike, you also don't get to display the crown jewel -- the engine -- in all its glory, like the original Monster. The trademark trellis frame is half present, connecting to an aluminum subframe and swingarm. The engine is an updated version of the previous 695cc unit, with enough changes to yield a 9% boost to 80 hp (59 kW) and an 11% increase in torque to 50.6 lb-ft. Weighing just 359 lbs, the power to weight ratio is better than ever before, so performance should remain quite high. The light-weight Monster still features a slipper clutch, which is quite rare in the segment in which it competes. </p>
<p>We're pretty excited about this bike, despite the fact that we were hoping for a slightly different design direction. It's still a looker and the performance might make up for our aesthetic reservations. Check out Ducati's full press release after the jump.</p>

<p>We've received official word from Ducati that it's extending the planned production run of Desmosedici RR bikes from 1,250 to 1,500 in an effort to meet demand. If you've already got an order in, you are all set, and Ducati promises that all of the 1,500 bikes will be delivered to owners by the end of 2008. So, if you don't have your order in... call now! The first 500 or so bikes will be delivered to owners of the 999R who have also placed orders for the new Desmosedici RR.</p>
<p>For those of you who aren't aware of the Desmosedici RR, tune into SPEED TV the next time Moto GP racing is on and keep an eye out for the bike in the lead. That will probably be the racing version of this bike ridden by Casey Stoner. The new RR is the first road-going version of a Moto GP bike that you can actually buy and register at your local DMV. Unlike most Ducati streetbikes, the RR features a V4 engine, although the angle is still set at the same 90-degrees of Ducati's traditional V-Twins. While the race bikes were forced to go down to 800cc's for competition this year, the street version still has the full liter that was originally intended for the bike. Peaking at around 200 horsepower or so with a weight of under 400 pounds, none of the 1,500 lucky owners are likely to be let down by Ducati's latest product of moto-lust.</p>
<p>While the Desmosedici RR leads Ducati's line of bikes this year, let's face the facts here: you and I will probably never ride one. So after the jump you'll find some news about Ducati bikes you can actually afford.</p>

<p>It's rare that we cover motorcycles on Autoblog, but <a href="http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2007/September/sept24-30/sept2407newducatimonsterspiedtesting/?&amp;R=EPI-94843">a new Ducati Monster</a> is too big to pass up. Ducati has rattled off a string of successful new model launches as of late, including the SportClassic range, the 1098 and the Hypermotard. But its true bread-and-butter model remains the Monster. Introduced way back in 1993 with a 900cc 90&deg; V-Twin engine, the Monster is what many think of when they hear the word Ducati. Being that the Monster practically invented the naked bike genre, Ducati doesn't want to mess too much with success when it introduces its totally redesigned Monster in 2008. Rumor has it that the Monster range will include only air-cooled engines with a separate naked bike line featuring versions of Ducati's water cooled engines, including the awesome 1098's Desmo twin. </p>
<p>Take a look at the <a href="http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/200310/images/2008%20monster%20spy%20copy.jpg">spy photo here</a> of the new Monster undergoing testing. Little detail can be seen in the super-grainy photo, but a few things that jump out are the high mounted exhaust and the currently in-thing-to-do on naked bikes: a chopped tailsection. We wonder if Ducati should be setting trends, not following them; but we'll wait for official pictures to make any final conclusions on the design. To be sure, though, Ducati has a tough act to follow based on the success and cult following that its current Monster range enjoys, and deservedly so. We're anxiously waiting for November's show in Milan to see the real thing!</p>
