Shocking, we know. We can't imagine sawing the roof off a vehicle like the Dodge Charger SRT8 or Chrysler 300 would do the machines any favors, but we can certainly respect the gumption behind bringing more four-door convertibles into the world. That seems to be exactly what Drop Top Customs is into these days. The company has worked up a pair of Mopar sedans with their hard tops deducted. DTC says it does plenty of structural work under each vehicle to make it safe to drive with the roof removed, including the addition of a strut tower brace up front and a shock tower brace in the trunk.

Of course, hustling that big top up and down manually would be an arduous feat, so each car comes with an automatic folding soft top. There's no word on how much weight the conversion adds to the recipe, but we wouldn't expect the finished product to be a featherweight. Want more information? Head over to the Drop Top Customs site for the full skinny.
Drop Top Customs puts tops on Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, proceeds to drop them originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 02 Dec 2012 08:57:00 EST.
Let's face it - a Camaro just ain't a Camaro without T-Tops. Since the option surfaced on the cars in 1978, the split roof has defined Chevrolet's muscle car, but so far, GM has kept the fifth-generation Camaro conspicuously free from hot T-Top action. Fortunately, there's Drop Top Customs. The company showed off its own personal take on going to town on the roof of the mighty Camaro. For the low, low price of $6,500, you too can have your Camaro lightened of a little sheet metal, and Drop Top Customs says that the company will even bolt on a supercharger for a little extra pep should you feel the need. Fear not the structural rigidity, either. Each topped Camaro gets the same underbracing as the company's convertible conversions.

While the DTC Camaro is a sight to be seen, it's overshadowed by its Pontiac cousin, the wicked T-topped Firehawk Trans Am. If you're looking for buckets of win, you've certainly found it. While body-color inserts are the only available option right now, DTC says that smoked glass pieces are on their way.
Drop Top Customs, an aftermarket customizer which typically creates convertibles, has created a T-Top kit for the Chevrolet Camaro. The Drop Top T-Top Camaro will make its debut at SEMA show this November and the company says most of its creations will come equipped with a supercharger, but Drop Top assures us that chassis flex isn't an issue. Sales begin shortly after its debut in Vegas next month and carry a sticker of $6,500.

As far as we know, General Motors has no plans to build a convertible version of the CTS Coupe. But where automakers fear to tread, the aftermarket is usually happy jump in. High Springs, Florida-based Drop Top Customs is reportedly hard at work on a rag-top conversion for Cadillac's new coupe, adding yet another model to its range of custom convertibles.

Over the past few years, the company has mainly focused on Dodge Challengers and Chevrolet Camaros, but with a factory Camaro convertible about nine months away, the CTS has the potential to fill the gap. DTC produces all of the parts for its conversions in-house and most jobs cost less than $20,000. Considering the fastback styling of the CTS Coupe, we're not sure how well it will translate to a soft-top - or how it's going to affect structural rigidity - but we're looking forward to how it turns out.

We've been waiting for a convertible version of the new Camaro for almost as long as we've been waiting for the Camaro itself, but Chevrolet has yet to deliver. In fact, the convertible was delayed by The General, so it could be more than a year before we ever see one at our local Bowtie showroom (although dealers are reportedly getting their first look at the 2011 model as we speak). That hasn't stopped many from guessing just what a Camaro ragtop might look like.

The lucky folks attending this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas, however, won't have to rely on their imaginations to see what a Camaro convertible looks like. Drop Top Customs (founded in 1976 as Coachbulders Limited) will be showing off the car you see here, a genuine Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible, albeit one they had to build themselves. Drop Top did a similar cut job on the Camaro's pony car title Challenger from Dodge for last year's SEMA show with pretty spectacular results. The Camaro chop will cost owners about $18,000 at the firm's Florida shop. If the Camaro isn't your thing, Drop Top will also take a Sawzall to a Chrysler 300, Cadillac CTS or even a DTS if you'd prefer.
