<br /> The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-volkswagen-tiguan-s/">Volkswagen Tiguan</a>, already a hot little CUV, added some bodywork and an APR turbo to go with its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/">Super CC</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-volkswagen-jetta-tdi-cup-edition-street-concept/">Jetta TDI Cup Edition Street Concept</a> show car siblings, and then threw in a Rockford Fosgate system to raise the bar further. The little big guy wears fender flares connected by side steps and contrasting rocker panels. Inside is a two-tone leather job with some very attractive speaker enclosures in the doors. Under the hood goes APR's 3-stage turbo to boost output to 295 hp and 300 lb-ft. And out back: a 1,400-watt Rockford Fosgate system with dual 10-inchers taking up the rear floor. And as we learned at the press conference, you can play a guitar through the amp. Of course, you can't store anything back there, but this is SEMA, not a PTA meeting. Read all about it in the press release after the jump, and check out the gallery of high-res photos below.<br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept/low/">SEMA 2008: VW Tiguan Performance Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_vw_tig_perf_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_vw_tig_perf_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_vw_tig_perf_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_vw_tig_perf_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05_vw_tig_perf_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept-rocks-the-strike-house/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: VW Tiguan Performance Concept rocks the <strike>house</strike> CUV</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-vw-tiguan-performance-concept-rocks-the-strike-house/">SEMA 2008: VW Tiguan Performance Concept rocks the <strike>house</strike> CUV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 12:57:00 EST. Top Speed has rendered unto us what such an enigma might look like, and, well, it ain't all bad. That's probably because it looks like an MDX with a descending roofline out back. Of course, it's impossible to know how much of any rendering is pure fiction, but The Majestic Shield of Acura matched with those lights and a proper amount of real estate could be the ideal pairing of design features and suitable canvas. Porsche's floating LEDs in the front bumper don't go astray, either. We still can't say it makes sense, but Acura, if you're really going to do this, have a look here first.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/acura-new-cuv-rendering-ar66409.html">Top Speed</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/rendered-speculation-acura-x6-fighter/">Rendered Speculation: Acura X6 fighter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 05 Nov 2008 12:02:00 EST. Yet M-B head man Dieter Zetsche said the car isn't going away, so as one does with continuing product, the R-Class is getting some face and tail work done. Those who whisper about such things indicate that the car will end up looking more like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/17/mercedes-gives-b-class-a-facelift-natural-gas/">B-Class</a>. We're not sure that will help it, since it looks much like the B-Class already and that car isn't exactly a looker, either. We think the R might be better served if Mercedes could explain why anyone should choose it over the E-Class wagon or GL-Class SUVs... and when the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/03/pics-aplenty-mercedes-benz-glk-vision-glk-freeside/">GLK</a> arrives, well, good luck to you, R-Class.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/why-mercedes-benz-gives-r-class-a-facelift/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/27/spy-shots-r-class-facelift/">Spy Shots: R-Class facelift</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 27 Oct 2008 10:29:00 EST. Features like the converging window lines on the side, the rear lights, and the Saab grille, give away its lineage. From the side, especially from the A-pillar back, you could be forgiven for confusing the Saab with a lot of other CUVs, while lines that are quite distinctive on the smaller 9-3 and 9-5 look to have been stretched into rather bland expanses on the 9-4X. It's still early, so we look forward to seeing the fully Saab-ified retail version. If Saab's managing director is to be believed, what won't be bland is one of the engine choices: a diesel with 250 hp and 406 lb-ft. That's the kind of quirky we can get behind. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.leftlanenews.com/saab-9-4x.html">Left Lane News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/spy-shots-saab-9-4x-almost-naked/">Spy Shots: Saab 9-4X, almost naked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 30 Sep 2008 16:29:00 EST. Known outside the U.S. for its 4-wheel drives like the Ssangyong Musso, which means "double dragon rhinoceros", the C200 is a four-wheel-drive, unibody CUV meant to grow Ssangyong's product range. It is packaged with a 2.0-liter engine and a 6-speed transmission, claimed to put out low emissions and be EURO V emissions-approved. Depending on how many horses they can squeeze out, it could be a nice little ride for Ssangyong money. That's all we know about it for the moment, but we'll bring you the full story when it's launched at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Paris-Motor-Show/">Paris Motor Show</a> next month.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.newspress.co.uk/DAILY_LINKS/arc_sep_2008/56022ssa.htm">Ssangyong</a>]<font size="2" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"></font><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/12/paris-preview-ssangyong-in-the-house-with-c200/">Paris Preview: Ssangyong in the house with C200</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Sep 2008 11:29:00 EST. If they are indeed replacing <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/25/worlds-tallest-man-presented-keys-to-custom-built-car/">this Chevy Tacuma</a> as well as that aardvark masquerading as a minivan, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/22/gm-minivans-taken-out-back-and-shot/">Uplander</a>, then it looks like things are about to get a lot more spacious over yonder pond. Supposed to be about the size of a Mazda5, the Tacuma appears to have front-hinged rear doors, which might make it more CUV than minivan. Also, the Tacuma is also supposed to be built at GM's Hamtramck plant in Michigan. If so, that would make it bedmates with the Chevy Volt, and, as Jalopnik speculates, perhaps another good home for a hybrid drivetrain...<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5042280/2011-chevrolet-tacuma-minivan-spied-testing-hunting-down-soccer-practice">Jalopnik</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/27/spy-shots-2011-chevy-tacuma-minivan/">Spy Shots: 2011 Chevy Tacuma minivan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 27 Aug 2008 13:58:00 EST. Well, it's actually a thousand dollars less than that. Why? Because Chrysler is offering that much as an incentive to folks who plunk down the balance on a 2009 Dodge Journey. On the This Is Not Good side, it's the first 2009 model of the year to put money on the hood, and frankly, it just never looks good when the manufacturer offers cash to entice buyers. On the This Is Really Not Bad side, has anyone had a look at the things folks in Journey's market segment are enduring right now? (Hint: rhymes with "portgage misis.") Yeah. So we won't hit Dodge over the head... but we will be watching...<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-journey-1/low/">2009 Dodge Journey</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-journey-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/07-2102_0236_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-journey-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/07-2102_0259_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-journey-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/07-2102_0268_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-journey-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/07-2102_0291_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-journey-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/07-2102_0299_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2008/03/dodge-journey-f.html">Kicking Tires</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/26/dodge-launches-2009-journey-with-helping-hand-1-000-cash-back/">Dodge launches 2009 Journey with helping hand: $1,000 cash back</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 26 Mar 2008 07:19:00 EST. Looks pretty bitchin' to us, though, with that hulking profile and flared out fenders. You certainly don't think "prettied-up tall Golf" when you watch the video. The Tiguan is intended to take on the RAV-4 and CR-V, as well as European competition from the likes of BMW and Volvo. The Tiguan's end of the CUV market is heating up, and it will be interesting to watch how VW positions it in terms of pricing and options. Oh, and dig that "Clean TDI" diesel clatter we hear at the end. <br /><br />Thanks to tipster Mikhal.<br /><br />[Source: Volkswagen via AutoMotoPortal]<br /><br /><strong>Related Items:</strong><br />
