<br />
It's been 50 years since <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/bruce+mclaren/">Bruce McLaren</a> founded his now world-famous <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/formula one/">Formula One</a> team. For half a century, the name has been at the forefront of racing and performance development, and to mark its golden anniversary, the company has crafted three short films. The first, titled simply "Courage," follows a fictionalized version of the team's founder as he recounts his brief life on the day of his death. At just under four minutes, the quick clip manages to succinctly capture the passion and drive not only of the man himself, but in the team he inspired.<br />
<br />
The short film concludes with a few lines McLaren penned himself on the death of teammate Timmy Mayer.<br />
<br />
"To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. Indeed, life is not measured in years alone, but in achievement." Amen. You can watch the <a href="/2013/02/01/mclaren-marks-50th-anniversary-with-short-film-courage/#continued">full clip below</a> for yourself.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/01/mclaren-marks-50th-anniversary-with-short-film-courage/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>McLaren marks 50th anniversary with short film "Courage"</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/01/mclaren-marks-50th-anniversary-with-short-film-courage/">McLaren marks 50th anniversary with short film "Courage"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 01 Feb 2013 23:35:00 EST. The ship was loaded with new 3-series and 1-series vehicles, including new M3s. Around 70 of the damaged cars are reported to be total losses with others sustaining major damage. Word is that the M3s bared the brunt of the brutality. Extensively damaged cars will be crushed while those with minor damage will undergo repair at a receiving facility in Elizabeth, NJ, after which they will proceed onto dealers. Bimmers destined for European delivery customers were also on board, although it's not clear how those buyers will be handled in the wake of the incident. <br /><br />This is a particularly harsh hit to BMW in terms of the new M3 and even more so for the owners awaiting their new V8-powered uber-coupes. We'd expect this unfortunately event will lead to an extension of the waiting period many potential customers will have to endure. It also means many dealerships are out of luck for a demo car. With the M3's competition coming on strong from the likes of Lexus, Cadillac and Mercedes one can only imagine this sort of setback might steer away a few potential buyers.<br /><br /><em>Thanks for the tip Carl!<br /><br /></em>[Source M3Forum.com]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage">BMW M/V Courage Shipping Damage</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/07011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/08011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/09011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/10011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/11011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/over-370-bmws-bound-for-new-jersey-port-damaged-in-shipping/">Over 370 BMWs bound for New Jersey port damaged in shipping</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 14 Jan 2008 19:32:00 EST.
