Tech specs are hypothesized to be a high-pressure turbocharged inline six cylinder with 400 hp that would use either a mechanical valve system or BMW's VANOS system, and run through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Along with electronic stop/start aids, there would be technology to turn exhaust gasses into electricity. With the use of plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum, the car is meant to weigh no more than 3,080 pounds.<br /><br />Even though it hasn't stopped Ferrari and Lamborghini, lead BMW designer Adrian Van Hooydonk thinks it might be hard to sell the Z10 with a supercar body in a global recession. Most importantly, though, he wants the car to be a symbol of the future, and to offer an "exciting dynamic experience." We can't imagine the sketch is anything go by, unless he also wants the car to try and eat you.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/BMW-Z10ED/238716/#">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/13/rendered-speculation-bmw-z10-ed-to-tackle-audi-r8/">Rendered Speculation: BMW Z10 ED to tackle Audi R8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 18:58:00 EST. Although next year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/23/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-nissan-gt-r/">Nissan GT-R</a> will <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/20/nissan-drops-launch-control-from-2010-gt-r/">reportedly (maybe) lose launch control</a>, it will get five more horsepower after a few electronics tweaks, going from 480 PS (473 hp) to 485 PS (478 hp), according to an official statement from Nissan UK. It will also be stickier thanks to the stock fitment of Dunlop SP Sport 600 DSST tires - the same troublesome rubber that earned the GT-R its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/01/gt-r-drops-ring-time-down-to-7-29/">7:29 'Ring time</a> and the continued <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/porsche-accuses-nissan-gt-r-of-cheating-the-ring/">public complaints of Porsche</a> - and altered spring rate settings. <br /><br />Aesthetically, the Premium Edition GT-R gets rims in Gun Metal Grey, and the Black Edition wears the same wheels in black. And in a development straight out of a marketing roundtable, Pearl White simply wasn't cutting it as an exterior color, so it's been replaced by a "deep" white called "Storm."<br /> <br />Of course, all of this will cost you more and you'll have to wait longer: the base GT-R jumps 3.8-percent in price up to &pound;56,795, and you can tack on &pound;1,300 more for a Premium Edition or &pound;2,600 for the Black Edition. And then you can wait until 2010 for your car to arrive.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/">Review: 2009 Nissan GT-R</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Nissan]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/08/european-nissan-gt-r-specs-released-with-more-power-grip/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>European Nissan GT-R specs released, now with more power, grip</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/08/european-nissan-gt-r-specs-released-with-more-power-grip/">European Nissan GT-R specs released, now with more power, grip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 08 Dec 2008 16:59:00 EST. The new XK, long due for a serious refresh, will show up in 2009 with the minor addition of the JaguarDrive selector a la XF and the major addition of a diesel engine to boost fuel economy and sales, along with two new V8s. <br /><br />Since Jaguar's 2.7-liter V6, which puts out 204 hp and 320 lb-ft., is only getting bored out to 3.0 liters it probably won't match the numbers put up by BMW's 3.5-liter, at 286 hp and 427 lb-ft. But the larger lump should goose the horsepower number and seriously increase torque (we hope) at least to the level of Audi's 3.0-liter V6 diesel, which turns out 240 hp and 369 lb-ft.<br /><br />If diesel economy and pump prices still don't register with you, there will still be two gas options to fuel the fires. The 4.2-liter V8 goes away to make room for the new 5.0-liter with 400 hp, and if you want whipped cream and cherries on top, hit Jaguar up for the supercharged XK-R with 500 hp.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshots/Jaguar-readies-new-diesel-XK-sports-car/">CAR</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/01/spy-shots-jaguar-xk-diesel-under-development/">Spy Shots: Jaguar XK diesel under development</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 01 Dec 2008 09:35:00 EST. By the looks of it, the headlights are more vertical than the current model, and based on what's covered, the front and rear bumpers and valances will see the majority of the work. Intriguingly, the side mirrors on the car are from the 993, which we imagine are for testing purposes only. If the lower rear valance is any indication, the exhaust outlets could come in for revision, as well.<br /> <br /> [Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/more-spy-shots-next-generation-porsche-911-998/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/27/spy-shots-998-porsche-911/">Spy Shots: 998 Porsche 911</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 27 Nov 2008 11:28:00 EST. <p>The Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85, which we'll call "Tiger," is officially out and about. Spyker has released more images of the Audi-engined, 400-hp, 6-speed manual Le Mans-inspired road car, and to our eyes it could be the best looking Spyker we've seen. The blacked-out mirrors do it a lot of favors and don't remind us any more of carry handles, and it has even retained 19-inch wheels secured with one lug nut and will apparently get you a combined 15 mpg on the EPA cycle. The folks over at Auto Express have a cutaway view of the NSX's gizzards, and what lurks beneath the creased and chevroned skin of the next do-it-all-faster supercar could be good for a few extra heartbeats. We do hope, however, that these exterior renderings are quite a ways off. Otherwise, it might not be so bad if Acura offers a cutaway version of the actual car so that you don't have to see its body, because even under the camo, the new NSX is shaping up to be um, homely.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/231327/under_the_skin_of_allnew_nsx.html">Auto Express</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/under-the-skin-of-the-2010-acura-nsx/">Under the skin of the 2010 Acura NSX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 19 Nov 2008 09:30:00 EST. <br />If you were <em>this close </em>to purchasing an SLR but recent events concerning a guy named Lehman severely reduced your amount of disposable cash, then allow us to introduce you to the SL Carbonite. For the price of a 2003-2008 Mercedes SL, plus $47,400 for Carbonite's hood, fenders, front and rear fascias, lowered suspension and Mandrus 20-inch wheels, you can have an SL(R) for a song that's a lot less pricey than the Mercedes-McLaren. Carbonite has also said it will only build 20 of these cars per year, which means your money could get you even more exclusivity than the real thing. Of course, what your money can't do is erase the fact that you don't actually have the real thing -- but that hasn't stopped so many others... Check out the high-res gallery of doppelganger shots below.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-carbonite-sl-r/low/">SEMA 2008: Carbonite SL(R)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-carbonite-sl-r/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_carb_sl_r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-carbonite-sl-r/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_carb_sl_r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-carbonite-sl-r/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_carb_sl_r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-carbonite-sl-r/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_carb_sl_r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-carbonite-sl-r/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05_carb_sl_r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/09/sema-2008-carbonite-sl-r-for-the-economic-downturn/">SEMA 2008: Carbonite SL(R) for the economic downturn</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 16:31:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the STS C6 Z06</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The <a href="http://www.ststurbo.com/home">Squires Turbo Systems</a> twin-turbo C6 Z06 gives the former most-powerful Vette model a boost to 700 horsepower at a very reasonable 7 pounds of boost, which, depending on how sorted the Bilstein-shocked suspension is, could give it a good shot at sticking with a stock ZR-1. The most unique thing about this car is that STS mounts the turbos remotely, at the rear of the car. That placement keeps the engine bay freer and adds a host of technical perks like lower temps under the hood and cooler oil going to the turbo. And according to STS, some customers have even gotten better gas mileage. Strangely, though, for all of that new performance, the brakes look untouched. Check it out in the gallery of high-res photos below.<br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/">SEMA 2008: STS Twin Turbo C6 Covette</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-corvette-a-matte-monster/">SEMA 2008: STS Twin Turbo C6 Corvette a matte monster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 13:29:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the Galpin Accord Concept</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The Galpin Accord Concept is actually pretty tasteful for a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=galpin&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">Galpin Auto Sports</a> vehicle, and even if the bright blue paint job doesn't get you more attention on the street than you can handle, the two <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-galpin-honda-accord-racer/1142423/">tunnel-sized exhausts</a> out back will do the trick. The carbon fiber roof and plinth for a rear wing will also get you all kinds of cred in certain parts of town. And while information is scarce, the Stoptech brakes up front will help you come back from the edge when the car's actual limits are exceeded. We don't what's hiding under that carbon fiber hood, but we'll take it on faith that the intercooler up front isn't just for show and that something turbo'd lies within. And then, because apparently racers can't hear the stereo when they're hard on the gas, the back seat has been replaced with a speaker array. You just can't be the fastest man on the planet without tunes, now can you? Ah, SEMA... <br />George Hurst's mission was to make hot rods for gentlemen. The new Hurst, in the body of the new Challenger, has carried on George's mission admirably. This particular blogger <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">isn't</span> wasn't even a Challenger fan, and then we laid eyes on the Hurst Hemi Challenger, and, like the Grinch, our heart grew three sizes. It's available in four levels, from a 5.7-liter HEMI Challenger to a fire-breathing 6.1-liter supercharged HEMI underneath a MOPAR hood. And when you get to those upper reaches, then you can avail yourself of that Hurst paint job and a car that will do those mammoth wheels justice. We were told the Stage 4 puts out 530 hp at the rear wheels. Which means the car will be waiting for you to it justice as well. Check out the gallery of high-res photos below, and see if your heart doesn't grow a bit as well. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/low/">SEMA 2008: Hurst Hemi Challenger</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01hur_hem_cha_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02hur_hem_cha_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03hur_hem_cha_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04hur_hem_cha_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05hur_hem_cha_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: Hurst Hemi Challenger</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/sema-2008-hurst-hemi-challenger/">SEMA 2008: Hurst Hemi Challenger</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 04 Nov 2008 21:40:00 EST. The Camaro GS Race Car Concept takes its inspiration from the Trans Am racer of Mark Donohue, but Riley Technologies updates it with a just a few go-fast add-ons. The body is seam-welded, the hood, trunk lid, and doors are swapped for carbon fiber components, and in the front a racing radiator and an upgraded engine cooler are fitted. The production LS3 V8 swaps gears though a Tremec close-ration six-speed gearbox, and all those spent hydrocarbons exit through three-inch dual exhaust pipes. Even better than all that: you can buy it from Riley for the 2009 Grand Am season. Check out the press release after the jump and the live high-res photos below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-concept-live-reveal/low/">SEMA 2008: Camaro GS Race Concept LIVE</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cam_gs_sema_00_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cam_gs_sema_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cam_gs_sema_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cam_gs_sema_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/cam_gs_sema_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Jonathon Ramsey, Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-car-concept-live-reveal/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: Camaro GS Race Car Concept LIVE</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/sema-2008-camaro-gs-race-car-concept-live-reveal/">SEMA 2008: Camaro GS Race Car Concept LIVE</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 03 Nov 2008 19:29:00 EST. While <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/30/rendered-speculation-2009-mercedes-clk/">this rendering</a> looks like it could still be pretty accurate, the front fog lights have given way to LED's, which are lit in this latest round of images. The extended trunk deck lid <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/01/spy-shots-2010-mercedes-benz-clk/">we've seen before</a>, but now we get a close-up and the strong crease line that bisects the rear of the car. It also looks to get a bit fussy back there because the trunk is distinct from the body panel that hides the roof. We'll know more when the car goes hits the show circuit next year, but this car could be more than a little revolutionary. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/next-generation-mercedes-benz-clk-cabrio-spotted/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/27/spy-shots-2009-mercedes-clk-cabrio/">Spy Shots: 2009 Mercedes CLK Cabrio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 27 Oct 2008 17:59:00 EST. These are subtle alterations, with LED daytime running lights, bigger intakes, a new air dam lip up front and revised taillights out back. The bigger news is that the GT3 RS will get more power with the addition of direct injection, and even faster gear changes when equipped with the PDK gearbox. And that means even faster acceleration, because you can never get enough of that. The car should start making its rounds around the auto show circuit next year.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/2010-porsche-911-997-gt3-rs-facelift-spotted/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/23/spy-shots-porsche-gt3-rs/">Spy Shots: Porsche GT3 RS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 08:29:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click the image above for a high-res gallery of the E-Go Revolt</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />A new coachbuilding company in Russia called E-Go has come up with a new car built on a Mitsubishi platform. Called Revolt, by E-Go, we don't find it the least bit offensive, although we do think the rear end is a little funky. The Revolt -- in spite of the company's catchy name and word "volt" lurking around in there -- is not electric. Rather, a 3.0-liter V6 gets two turbos slapped on to run some 550 hp through a six-speed gearbox. It has an active air suspension and rides on 19-inch wheels from Japanese wheel company Work, with 325/30 rubber out back. Stopping power should be prodigious, thanks to six-piston calipers up front and four-pots in back. <br /><br />Most interesting, the car's electronics are being developed by engineering firm National Instruments, and you will be able to control them all via a touch screen monitor in the steering wheel. We can't wait to see what that steering wheel must look like, and whether they can make the car drive for you while you punch in new data. Word is that E-Go "has already started building cars," but as usual, we'll wait and see. <br />Such is the logic of luxury economics: charge tens of thousands of dollars more for the same product, sell fewer of them and boost the balance sheet and your brand's long-term viability. That is what Aston Martin's considering for the next phase of its business plan, which runs from roughly 2011 to 2019 and will see the launch of DB9 and Vantage successors, the Rapide, and the renewed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/10/aston-martins-lagonda-s-class-fighter-coming-in-2012/">Lagonda</a> brand.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/29/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/">Vantage</a> and DB9 are big sellers for Aston, but the company might be unsure of how to sustain the momentum. One option is to move the price of the $113,000 Vantage closer to the $171,000 DB9, and move that latter car closer to the $265,000 DBS, sell fewer of them but make more money. The DB9 does strike us as a (relative) bargain - it's cheaper than a Bentley GT -- but pricing the Vantage closer to the DB9 would seem to wreck its business case as a 911 fighter. Another option could be to replace the Vantage or DB9 with a mid-engined sports car, which could be drool-worthy and well worth the price bump... but perhaps un-Aston-like.<br /><br />AutoWeek also appears to report that the One-77 <em>isn't</em> sold out, writing "Although Aston has said that it would make a maximum of 77 cars, insiders privately say the market is closer to 25." We don't know how that could be, unless a bunch of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/14/aston-martin-one-77-already-sold-out-and-then-some/">100 people who applied to buy</a> the car were just kidding... <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/">First Drive: 2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/01_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/02_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/03_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/04_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/05_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081020/FREE/810179994/1023/CARNEWS">AutoWeek</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/21/aston-martin-to-move-further-upmarket/">Aston Martin to move further upmarket?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 21 Oct 2008 17:29:00 EST. Many of their findings have been previously guessed at based on spy photos of the car, but their viewing seems to prove that it all fits together well enough in person. Unfortunately, they were barred from commenting on the driving experience. The most controversial aspect is still the shortened rear of the car, which IL guesses has gone back to 99 inches. To look at the pictures, there really isn't room for much behind the driver's door but wheel arches and a taillight. Interestingly, IL also suggests that the car will be available with a 7-speed automatic, which brings to three the number of potential non-manual transmissions. The proof, as always, will be in the pudding, and the first serving will come on October 29 when the official photos are released.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/autoshows/losangeles/2008/2009nissan370zdetails.html">Inside Line</a>]</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/inside-line-sees-nissan-370z-in-person-official-photos-coming-o/">Inside Line sees Nissan 370Z in person, official photos coming Oct. 29</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 12:58:00 EST. Even America's sports car, the Corvette, is not exempt, with CAFE regulations clouding the view inside the 'Vette Nation's crystal ball. <br /><em><br />Motor Trend</em>, commenting on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/23/corvette-c7-in-holding-pattern-due-to-cafe-regs/">C7 Corvette's delayed arrival</a>, has said that the new coupe won't appear until the 2014 model year at the earliest. The mid-engined route has also been scrapped, since it would simply cost too much to re-engineer the entire car for the purpose of easier integration of fuel saving tech like cylinder deactivation. <br /><br />That means <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/20/enter-the-rumormill-2012-c7-corvette-zr1-with-twin-turbo-v6/">a six-cylinder is still being talked about</a> -- by GM outsiders only, at this point -- as an option for the C7. If we take the Camaro as an example, that 2014 introduction date could mean late 2012, but that still only gives you four years to mentally prepare for a budget- and economy-minded V6 Corvette. Get cracking. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2008/112_0812_c7_chevrolet_corvette_update/index.html">Motor Trend</a>]</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/no-future-for-the-mid-engine-corvette/">No future for the mid-engine Corvette</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Oct 2008 14:28:00 EST. <br />Maserati is on a bit of a tear, and if things keep going its way, the Trident will turn that into a full-on ripper. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/04/geneva-2008-maserati-gran-turismo-s-adds-8c-goodies/">Gran Turismo S</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/25/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s-in-europe/">Quattroporte S</a> have secured the right kind of buzz, a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/19/spy-shots-maserati-gran-turismo-spyder/">Gran Turismo</a> convertible - said to feature a cloth top, not a folding steel unit - is on the way, and there's always that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/25/breaking-maserati-granturismo-mc-corse-concept/">Gran Turismo MC Corse Concept</a> to hope for. If additional models get to wear the badge, they will come via Alfa. Fiat underlings Maser and Alfa have pledged to share technologies, so if Alfa picks up a RWD platform from someone else, that's an opportunity for Maserati to create a small sedan and coupe to fit underneath the GT and the Quattroporte. What Maserati will definitely not be creating, however, is a wagon: the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/03/25/a-more-affordable-maserati/">Kuban GT</a> has been taken off the menu. You'll hear no complaints from us about that, for while there can't be too many Maseratis, there can certainly be the wrong kind of Maserati.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s/low/">First Drive: Maserati Quattroporte S</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/qportes-al-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/qportes-al-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/qportes-al-08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/qportes-cy-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/qportes-al-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20081006/ANA03/810060320">Automotive News</a>, sub. req'd]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/maserati-could-add-a-small-sedan-wagon-is-a-no-go/">Maserati could add a small sedan, wagon is a no-go</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Oct 2008 11:31:00 EST. One thing that can be gleaned from the rendering on the <em>TG</em> microsite is the headlight layout, with an inner row of LEDs leading back to an array that includes at least one additional cluster of LEDs. The front end still looks a tad overwrought to us - and a little reminiscent of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/02/paris-2008-the-gt-by-citroen-no-the-whole-thing-this-time/">GTbyCitroen</a> - but we suppose we'll just have to get a copy of <em>Top Gear</em> before we vote with our thumbs.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.topgear.com/content/magflash/1300/">Top Gear</a> via <a href="http://motorgears.blogspot.com/2008/10/magazine-revels-aston-martin-one-77.html">Motor Gears</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/06/top-gear-magazine-sorta-reveals-aston-martin-one-77/">Top Gear Magazine (sorta) reveals Aston Martin One-77</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 06 Oct 2008 07:58:00 EST. <p>Certain cars encourage a response that is as routine and predictable as the reaction to a stoplight, and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/29/mercedes-benz-reveals-slr-mclaren-roadster-722-s/">Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 S Roadster</a> is one of those cars. This is what happens every time someone gets in one, irrespective of their age, sex, or nationality: she snuggles into the seat, looks into the footwell to make sure her feet are placed just so on the pedals, slides her hands around the steering wheel for a couple of seconds to find just the right position, snuggles into the seat again... and then she just sits there, staring off into the distance. She might flip the paddles once or twice, or check out the center console. Then it's back to the thousand yard stare at the wall in front of her. She gets her picture taken, notices the line of people waiting to do the same thing, and it's all repeated again and again. And for good reason - the SLR McLaren 722 S Roadster is topless testosterone-topped terrificality. 650 horsepower from a supercharged 5.5L V8 and a convertible soft top that'll stay put above 208 mph deserves the attention. You can check out the specs after the jump, or better yet, go straight to the gallery of high-res images below that we snapped in between the line of people waiting to sit in it.<br /></p>
