Colorado Boulevard is one of those streets that is known to millions of people around the world, many of whom have never set foot in California. In this case, it's because Colorado serves as the thoroughfare that hosts the annual Rose Parade, the float-tastic flower-power procession that precedes the Rose Bowl college football game in Pasadena, California. During the rest of the year, it's known as a great spot for shopping, dining and people watching for locals and tourists alike. But on a certain Sunday in May, it is also known as a place to see Prancing Horses. You see, Colorado Blvd. in Old Town Pasadena is the site of the Concorso Ferrari event.

One of the largest annual gatherings of Maranello's finest, Concorso Ferrari 2010 is expected to draw more than 100 classic and late-model GTs, sportscars and supercars for a free-to-the-public event like no other. The combined value of the vehicles is expected to top $100 million, with nearly one-fifth of that amount accounted for by one particular model - a Pebble Beach-winning 250 Series I Cab. Other highlights on the entry list include a Cavallino Best of Show 250 GT SWB, the Agnelli 400SA (fresh from the Ferrari Museum in Maranello), a Concorso Italiano Platinum winning 400SA, and one of six Vignale 225S racers produced.

Organized by the Ferrari Club of America, Southwest Region, the Concorso will stretch across several blocks of Colorado, from Pasadena Ave. to Raymond, and will run from 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday, May 16. The event will be a judged concours for pre-'99 cavallini, with unjudged displays of newer cars including not just those from Ferrari, but Maserati, Aston Martin, Lotus, Spyker, and Mercedes-Benz models as well.

Particularly astute (and Alfa-fanatical) readers may have noticed something missing from the Geneva Motor Show last month. With Alfa Romeo celebrating its centenary this year, the stoic Italian brand was reported to be commissioning three of Italy's finest design studios to produce concept cars for the brand. But cool though they were, only two showed up at the Geneva Palexpo: the Pininfarina 2uettottanta and the Bertone Pandion. We chalked it up to an error in the initial reports, but now it seems like we've discovered what happened to the third.

According to reports, Zagato - not ItalDesign Giugiaro - will be rolling in to the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este this year with an Alfa Romeo concept of their own. Reportedly named the TZ3 Corsa, it follows the path of the original TZ1 and TZ2 (pictured above) which Zagato built on the basis of the old Alfa Giulia. Sources say it's made up of a carbon-fiber frame, with the 4.7-liter V8 from the 8C Competizione providing motivation.

If it looks half as good as the Perana Z-One (and twice as nice as the less fortunate Ferrari 550 GTZ Barchetta), we could have a real stunner on our hands. We have a feeling we won't mind the wait.

Aston Martin finally took the wraps off the first completed One-77 this past weekend at the Concorso d'Eleganza on the shores of Lake Como and came away with the top design prize at the event. Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez was on hand to show off the car that we saw in skeletal form at the Geneva Motor Show in March. While the aesthetics of this new Aston have drawn decidedly mixed reviews, there is no doubt that it is a striking machine. The huge grille flanked by large air scoops is a departure from the classically beautiful Astons of the last 15 years and even goes well beyond the DBS. However, when considered in the context of its functionality, the appearance makes much more sense. Although decades have separated the modern Bugatti from its heritage, the Alsatian exotic marque is one that prides itself on its racing pedigree. So to bridge that gap and celebrate its 100th anniversary, Bugatti rolled in to the Villa d'Este auto show on the shores of Lake Como in northern Italy, as promised, with a quartet of special edition Veyrons.

Each of the four one-offs bares a different color to contrast with the chrome fenders, and each honors a different driver from Bugatti's glory days by taking their names. To more clearly emphasize the cars historical linkages, the four Veyrons arrived in Italy accompanied by matching historic Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix racers.

One of the most successful race cars in history, the Type 35 racked up some 2,000 race victories over the course of a decade of competition in the inter-war period. Thanks to its advanced lightweight construction and pioneering client-racer availability, the Type 35 was one of the most popular and indomitable racing machines of its day. Alongside its identically-colored historic counterpart, the Bugatti Veyron Jean-Pierre Wimille edition appeared in bright blue, the Achille Varzi in dark red, the Malcolm Campbell example in dark green and the Hermann zu Leiningen in off-white. No official word so far if these specials will be for sale or if they'll remain at Bugatti's headquarters in Molsheim, but if they do find their way to market, you can expect them to be marketed at a considerable premium.

The presentation at Villa d'Este is the second of many celebrations which Bugatti has lined up to celebrate its centenary this year, following the Bleu Centenaire edition presented at the Geneva show and ahead of Pebble Beach in August and the grand finale in Molsheim on September 12. The reborn Carrozzeria Touring made a big splash at Villa d'Este. As the featured marque of the Concorso d'Eleganza this year, the fathers of the classic Superleggera construction method took the wraps off two stunning coachbuilt Maseratis. While we wait for Touring to release more information on the swoopy A8 GCS sportscar and Bellagio Fastback, the Carrozzeria has graced us with a few new images of the two cars.

The photos of the A8 GCS show the custom coupe in a much better light than the initial batch, and there's another shot of the Quattroporte-based Bellagio, as well. As you can see in the latter, the side windows on the wagon are blanked out, but while the extension might not do any favors for blind-spot visibility, we hardly think that's the point as the design and craftsmanship appear second to none. BMW's supercar icon, the M1, blew out the candles at the Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este this weekend. In honor of the car's thirtieth birthday, BMW rolled out the new BMW M1 Hommage, a concept/design study that pays tribute to the original M1 and shows what could be possible if BMW were to produce a new mid-engined sports car.
