<br />Mercedes-Benz has built an S400 Hybrid called the Experimental Safety Vehicle (ESF in German) as a rolling jack-in-the-box of the company's safety technology. One of those tech highlights is the braking bag -- the panel under the car in the picture above -- which operates both as an air brake and a support in the event of an accident. <br /><br />When the PRE-SAFE system detects a crash is imminent, it will deploy an airbag located in the vehicle floor above the front axle carrier. This action will thrust a panel to the ground that, in its most simple form, slows the car down fractionally due to aerodynamic and friction drag.<br /><br />But the panel is also thrust down forcefully enough to raise the car up 8 centimeters, reducing dive and possibly helping to prevent the car from submarining under an obstacle in front of it. The Mercedes-Benz ESF S400 will be displayed at the Enhanced Safety of Vehicles conference on June 15 in Stuttgart. <br />Starting grids, chicanes, kerbs and locking up the brakes diving into hairpins make you think of what car brand? Of course, Volvo. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/05/we-kid-you-not-get-ready-for-volvo-the-game/">As promised, Volvo - The Game</a> has been released today for free download for PC only - sorry Mac lovers (a group that probably includes a lot of Volvo owners...). Developed by SimBin, the game offers six Volvo models for turns on two tracks: the Eco Drive Arena in Gothenburg, Sweden and the Chayka track in Kiev, Ukraine.<br /><br />When you're good enough to p0wn both those tracks and you tire of beating yourself, you can enter the Global Competition and go against Mad Swedish Maxes from around the world. But you better hurry - the first global competition begins today and runs until June 9 on the Eco Arena. The next one goes from June 10 to June 24. First prize for winning the global comp is a set of Pirelli tires up to 18 inches. <br /><br />You can check out two gameplay videos and a development video after the jump, and download it yourself at the link below.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.volvocars.com/intl/All-Cars-MY09/conceptcars/Pages/S60concept.aspx">Volvo</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/26/video-volvo-the-game-now-available-for-free-download/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Volvo The Game now available for free download</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/26/video-volvo-the-game-now-available-for-free-download/">VIDEO: Volvo The Game now available for free download</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 26 May 2009 16:00:00 EST. Tech specs are hypothesized to be a high-pressure turbocharged inline six cylinder with 400 hp that would use either a mechanical valve system or BMW's VANOS system, and run through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Along with electronic stop/start aids, there would be technology to turn exhaust gasses into electricity. With the use of plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum, the car is meant to weigh no more than 3,080 pounds.<br /><br />Even though it hasn't stopped Ferrari and Lamborghini, lead BMW designer Adrian Van Hooydonk thinks it might be hard to sell the Z10 with a supercar body in a global recession. Most importantly, though, he wants the car to be a symbol of the future, and to offer an "exciting dynamic experience." We can't imagine the sketch is anything go by, unless he also wants the car to try and eat you.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/BMW-Z10ED/238716/#">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/13/rendered-speculation-bmw-z10-ed-to-tackle-audi-r8/">Rendered Speculation: BMW Z10 ED to tackle Audi R8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 18:58:00 EST. <br />When Charles Pyott considered the possibility of on-the-fly adjustable camber, he looked at motorcycles, the human foot and cars like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/10/11/next-mercedes-f-class-concept-to-debut-in-tokyo/">Mercedes F400 Carving</a> and the BMW Clever. What he came up with isn't something you'll find on any of them: the Dynamically Augmenting Wheel System, or DAWS. <br /><br />Instead of making a wheel that adjusts its angle, Pyott created a wheel split into eight sections that can slide laterally on a special hub and bearing. That means the wheels can have an effective camber change without altering their angle relative to the car, and you keep the vehicle's entire footprint in contact with the ground. Not mentioned, it could also be used to alter the car's track. You probably shouldn't expect to see this in action any time soon, but by the time John Connor gets here...<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/daws-concept/low/">DAWS Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/daws-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01_daws_camber_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/daws-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02_daws_camber_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/daws-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03_daws_camber_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/daws-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04_daws_camber_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/daws-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05_daws_camber_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/03/10/split-your-wheel-into-eight/">Yanko Design</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/12/could-it-work-eight-way-adjustable-wheels-for-more-cornering-fo/">Could it work? <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the Galpin Accord Concept</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The Galpin Accord Concept is actually pretty tasteful for a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=galpin&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">Galpin Auto Sports</a> vehicle, and even if the bright blue paint job doesn't get you more attention on the street than you can handle, the two <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-galpin-honda-accord-racer/1142423/">tunnel-sized exhausts</a> out back will do the trick. The carbon fiber roof and plinth for a rear wing will also get you all kinds of cred in certain parts of town. And while information is scarce, the Stoptech brakes up front will help you come back from the edge when the car's actual limits are exceeded. We don't what's hiding under that carbon fiber hood, but we'll take it on faith that the intercooler up front isn't just for show and that something turbo'd lies within. And then, because apparently racers can't hear the stereo when they're hard on the gas, the back seat has been replaced with a speaker array. You just can't be the fastest man on the planet without tunes, now can you? Ah, SEMA... <br />As you can tell from our furious posting frequency, there's a lot of stuff at SEMA. Often, you encounter some well-publicized car and your reaction is "Oh... harumph." And then there are the sadly infrequent times when you make your way to the back of a ginormous hall and turn the corner to find a tiny booth holding one of those "Oh... wow..." treasures. That's what happened when we dropped by the Helios Coatings booth and discovered the Cadillac-powered VRS (V Sport Rod).<br /><br />Probably everything on this car except the fuel filler cap is custom or has been customized. A how-low-can-you-go custom-designed fiberglass body wraps itself around a 6.0-liter, 400 hp Cadillac engine. The engine cover runs from that hot-rod nose all the way to the bulkhead and then continues in one sweep to form the center console. The console works much like your phone, going dark when not in use and lighting up again when you touch it. And yes, that's an iPhone slotted in there. And at the corners are 20-inchers up front and 22-inchers out back suspended by aircraft strut suspension arms and wearing six-pot calipers front <em>and</em> rear. It is certifiably "Oh... wow..." But don't take our word for it -- check out the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs/1141115/">full specs</a>, or get straight to the gallery of high-res images below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs/low/">SEMA 2008: Cadillac-Powered VRS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_hel_cad_vrs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_hel_cad_vrs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_hel_cad_vrs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_hel_cad_vrs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05_hel_cad_vrs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-cadillac-powered-vrs-is-omg/">SEMA 2008: Cadillac-Powered VRS is OMG!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 05 Nov 2008 21:58:00 EST. <br />The year's SEMA is as much about economical performance as it is about out-and-out performance. VW threw its <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">hat</span> Passat CC in the latter ring with the Super CC Performance Concept, created by the VW Design Center with the aid of APR, Recaro, H&amp;R, and Brembo. The Super CC gets a grey pearl coat and blacked-out chrome, and pinstripe graphics from the hood to the rear spoiler that actually looks tasty in person. <br /><br />Under the hood is the 2.0-liter TSI with a 3-stage APR turbo delivering Eco Mode (222 hp, 236 lb-ft.), GT Mode (252 hp, 268 lb-ft.) and Full Power Mode (311 hp, 313 lb-ft.). In Eco Mode, the car still get 33 mpg on the autoroute and 27 in the city. Inside, you sit on black Recaros with white piping. The car sits on wheels we're going to call Walter Paytons, because they are pure sweetness. Hiding behind those wheels are white Brembo calipers that will be torturous to keep clean, but they'll look the business after a wash. And those door handles, mounted low on the door of a dropped car, come up to our knees. Check it all out in the press release after the jump and the gallery of high-res images below.<br /><br /><strong>UPDATE:</strong> Gallery of official high-res pics added.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;"></span><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/low/">Volkswagen Super CC Performance Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/00_ccpermcoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_ccpermcoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_ccpermcoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_ccpermcoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_ccpermcoupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: Volkswagen Super CC Performance Concept</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-volkswagen-super-cc-performance-concept/">SEMA 2008: Volkswagen Super CC Performance Concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 05 Nov 2008 14:23:00 EST. <br />The <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/tag/jetta+tdi+cup/">Jetta TDI Cup Series</a> did so well this year that Volkswagen is expanding the series from eight to ten races next year. And now non-racers may have a chance to live the diesel racing dream, and if they do, it will look very similar to the Jetta TDI Cup Edition Street Concept unveiled at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas today. The diesel-powered sport sedan gets upgraded sway bars and brakes from the Euro-spec Jetta GLI and a "European sport-tuned suspension", along with some cosmetic enhancements like a three-spoke steering wheel, sill plates, and Interlagos sport seats. This is one of those, "If we get the right response we'll might make it" deals, but VW is so open to producing this sport version of the Jetta TDI that it even has a price point already established: under $30,000. So have look at the high-res gallery of images below and let VW know what you think. We say build it.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-jetta-tdi-cup-street-edition-concept/low/">SEMA 2008: VW Jetta TDI Cup Street Edition Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-jetta-tdi-cup-street-edition-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/img_5971_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-jetta-tdi-cup-street-edition-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/img_5970_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-jetta-tdi-cup-street-edition-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/img_5972_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-jetta-tdi-cup-street-edition-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/img_5974_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-vw-jetta-tdi-cup-street-edition-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01vw_jetdi_cup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-volkswagen-jetta-tdi-cup-edition-street-concept/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Edition Street Concept so close to production</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/sema-2008-volkswagen-jetta-tdi-cup-edition-street-concept/">SEMA 2008: Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Edition Street Concept so close to production</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 05 Nov 2008 13:59:00 EST. <br />Honda's F1 team might not be about winning, but it is all about green and dreams of the Earth. In another triumph of race tech trickling down to the masses, Honda unveiled the Civic HFP Concept to show regular folks like you and me that we can have performance and good gas mileage. Developed by Honda Access America, the automaker's in-house factory accessories maker, the Civic HFP is based on the Civic Si Sedan and features a next-generation HFP body kit with additional aero enhancements, super light alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers, a super light HFP exhaust and upgraded HFP suspension. Honda doesn't mention what gas mileage you might expect from the HFP Concept, but we'd venture a guess that it's more fuel efficient than a stock Civic Si Sedan. <br />If there's anything even more cool about the current crop of concept cars, it's that we can actually see a bridge to the technology in a lot of them. Not that we expect them to be on the roads soon, but the thought of something like the solar skin on <a href="http://coroflot.com/public/individual_details.asp?job_seeker_id=164908&amp;t=&amp;name=mark+kruse&amp;sort_by=1&amp;&amp;page_no=&amp;c=1">Mark Kruse</a>'s Saab Blackbird concept making it to an actual production car doesn't sound as crazy as it did in 1990. <br /><br />The Blackbird takes its cues from, surprise surprise, the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance plane, yet looks even more to us like the head of a bird (as in woodpecker). The car's solar skin powers four electric motors in the wheels, with a battery array likely free to power the driver's LCD display and the passenger's wraparound communications panel. <br /><br />The car can also go on a diet: the suspension can retreat into the body and trim the car down to just 52 inches (132 cm) wide. The seats are also width adjustable to fit the occupants. And while none of that sounds too outrageous, the rear seat placement could never work. With its backrest practically forming the rear bulkhead, you do not want to be the Blackbird's co-pilot in a rear-end collision. But if we're driving, we'll take it.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-blackbird-concept/low/">Saab Blackbird Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-blackbird-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/saab_blackbird_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-blackbird-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/saab_blackbird_rear_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-blackbird-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/saab_blackbird_5_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-blackbird-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/saab_blackbird_3_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-blackbird-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/saab_blackbird_6_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.diseno-art.com/encyclopedia/concept_cars/saab_blackbird.html">Diseno Art</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/31/student-art-saab-blackbird-concept-inspired-by-famous-jet/">Student Art: Saab Blackbird Concept inspired by famous jet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 31 Oct 2008 16:29:00 EST. <br />The Saab <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/18/paris-preview-saab-unveils-9-x-air-biohybrid-concept/ ">9X Air BioHybrid</a> said hello to the world on a pedestal full of disco lights at the Paris Motor Show. It did not, however, move. So for now, if you want to see what the 9X Air will be able to do when it finally does get rolling, we have this little video courtesy of GM. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/03/geneva-08-previe-saab-9-x-biohybrid-concept/">9X BioHybrid</a> and its Air BioHybrid sibling are supposed to provide clues to a forthcoming Saab 9-1 small car, and the video is quite cool. But frankly, we also find it a bit saddening, since we can't quite believe that we'll see anything nearly this cool on an actual Saab, and the way things are going, we might not see the Saab 9-1.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/archives/2008/10/the_new_saab_9x_air_concept.html">GM FastLane Blog</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/30/video-saab-9x-air-biohybrid/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Saab 9X Air BioHybrid</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/30/video-saab-9x-air-biohybrid/">VIDEO: Saab 9X Air BioHybrid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 30 Oct 2008 09:01:00 EST. <p>When Jaguar launched its latest XK coupe, the ad campaign that accompanied it was called "Gorgeous". When the Mercedes-Benz <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/10/mercedes-benz-conceptfascination-previews-new-e-class/">ConceptFASCINATION</a> eventually becomes the next E-Class, the first thing Mercedes should do is call Jag to see if Gorgeous needs a friend. The shooting brake is absolutely stunning in person, the ultimate rendition of MB's current design language. Whereas a few of the 3-pointed-star's current cars have signature elements that ring true, this E-Class-Coupe-Wagon is the first time the entire theme sings in sweet harmony. The interior is the kind of thing that bespoke dreams are made of, with richly stained wood alternating between low-gloss metal and buttery suede. It is as if Mercedes discovered its inner passion, and if the next E-Class shares these qualities with the ConceptFASCINATION, then BMW and Audi better start worrying. You can discover more about the concept in the press release after the jump, as well as view it live in the gallery of high-res images below.</p>

For his efforts, which took an entire summer, he won a scholarship to get his Masters in Car Design in Valencia, and -- put on your Price is Right voice for this -- a brand new car! A Nissan Note, to be exact.<br /><br />Billed as 100-percent all-terrain, ecological, sporty, and Nissan, we admit it's interesting. The doors are gullwing, and the interior is terrific concept car simplicity. And our guess is that the purple glassworks have to do with the purple drink after which the car is named. But that vastly arcing front end that descends to the windshield... well, that just reminds us of a moose. Bullwinkle, to be exact. And the rear end reminds us of something that... excretes things. The silver car in the picture above was spotted on the set of <em>Transfomers 2</em> filming in Pennsylvania. The wheels (cartoonishly large out back) and lines, and the fact that GM is a major player in the film, would seem to suggest it's some sort of GM product or concept -- although not the Corvette ZR-1, as some have claimed. It's also got the same concept mirrors that GM loves to use and kind of looks like Bumblebee's evil Decepticon twin. The shooter also said that the car has scissor doors like a Lamborghini. Follow the link to see more pictures from the filming, and let us know what you think the mystery car is.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/06/new-concept-car-at-fairmont-park-base.html">Transformers Live</a> via <a href="http://www.shootfortheedit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2256&amp;page=16">Shoot for the Edit</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/11/mystery-car-spotted-during-transformers-2-filming/">Mystery car spotted during Transformers 2 filming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 15:27:00 EST. Once someone else gave us the money to do so.<br /><br />Sure, from the A-pillar forward is pure Maserati, and there's no way a front intake like that could or should make it onto a Ferrari. Still, it's a good looking front end, and we don't mind design elements going up as well as down. Besides, a couple of keystrokes can get a proper Ferrari nose in place. <br /><br />But from the A-pillar to the rear... those are the kind of aggressive, subtle lines we like in our Ferraris. Which is not to say we don't like the California -- we just like this a little better... A coupe, please. Of course we run over what's been in the garage lately - you'll know what reviews to anticipate. Our big item this week is recapping what we saw in Geneva and what might actually wind up in the US. Talk of Geneva moves us to anticipatory chatter about New York, mere days away. Thanks for your 49 minutes! <br /><br /><a href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s="><strong>SUBSCRIBE</strong></a> to the Autoblog Podcast in iTunes<strong><br /><a href="http://podcasts.autoblog.com/rss.xml"><strong>ADD</strong></a> </strong>the Autoblog Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator<br /><a href="http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/podcasts/auto20080313_0089.mp3"><strong>DOWNLOAD</strong></a> the show now<br /><br /><object width="290" height="24" type=""application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.weblogsinc.com/media/audio_player.swf"> <param value="http://www.weblogsinc.com/media/audio_player.swf" name="movie" /> <param value="soundFile=http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/podcasts/auto20080313_0089.mp3" name="FlashVars" /> <param value="high" name="quality" /> <param value="false" name="menu" /> <param value="transparent" name="wmode" /></object><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/13/autoblog-podcast-89/">Autoblog Podcast #89</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 17:48:00 EST. It was all good at the front, and then things got a bit, well, funky at the rear. Now another car designing buff with a <strike>pen</strike> suite of software has created his idea of a 4-seat Bugatti GT: the decidedly gorgeous Streamliner 12-2.<br /><br />Maltese designer Reuben Zammit designed the Streamliner as a 2+2 with "ample luggage space." Though we're sure if Bugatti ever created such a car it would be decidedly more expensive than the Ferrari 612, cues from Maranello's uber-GT can be seen in the Streamliner. But the nothing-but-curves approach gives it a Bugatti retro flair all its own. The car would use a twin-turbocharged version of the W12 engine and be powered by the rear wheels only. That would give the Streamliner rather un-Bugatti-like handling, which we think is even more reason to buy one. Check out additional renderings of the Streamliner 12-2 in the hi-res gallery below and let the designer know if you like his work in the comments. <br /><span class="text"><strong><font size="1" color="#cccccc"><span style="font-size: 10px; line-height: 13px;"></span></font></strong></span><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-streamliner-12-2-1/low/">Bugatti Type 12-2 Streamliner</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-streamliner-12-2-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/03_streamliner_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-streamliner-12-2-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02_streamliner_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-streamliner-12-2-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/00_streamliner_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-streamliner-12-2-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01_streamliner_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bugatti-streamliner-12-2-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/04_streamliner_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.reubenzammit.com/streamliner.html">Reuben Zammit</a> via <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/03/bugatti-type-12-2-streamliner-22-gt.html">Carscoop</a>]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/11/bugatti-type-12-2-streamliner-design-concept-adds-extra-set-of-s/">Bugatti Type 12-2 Streamliner design concept adds extra set of seats</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 11 Mar 2008 11:56:00 EST. The dreaded "business case" has to be made in order for the little MPV to land stateside, but the Meriva, already successful in Europe, has plenty going for it. The concept that previews the next production model was built with parts from two of GM's small car architectures that will be shared with other vehicles, and the Meriva's turbocharged 1.4L engine also rested under the hood of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/03/geneva-08-previe-saab-9-x-biohybrid-concept/">Saab 9-X concept</a>. The Meriva would also supply Saturn with a fuel-efficient family hauler, at least more efficient than the VUE CUV, another European import from Opel. Heck, it's not our money, we say build it, slap on a Saturn badge and call it a day.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/opel-meriva-concept-1/low/">Opel Meriva Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/opel-meriva-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01_opel_meriva_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/opel-meriva-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02_opel_meriva_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/opel-meriva-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/03_opel_meriva_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/opel-meriva-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/04_opel_meriva_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/opel-meriva-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/05_opel_meriva_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080304/ANA02/417181300">Automotive News</a>, subs. req'd]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/06/opel-meriva-concept-could-spawn-saturn-variant/">Opel Meriva concept could spawn Saturn variant</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Mar 2008 09:31:00 EST. The LifeCar divides a line that reaches well into the past and well into the future. Its lines are retro modern -- or is that modern retro? -- with all the traditional early-20th-century coupe cues done in aluminum. The hydrogen powerplant is theoretically good for a 200-mile range and "sporting" British performance. Check out the press release for the full details, and be sure to look at the gallery of hi-res images below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/morgan-lifecar-concept/low/">Morgan LifeCar concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/morgan-lifecar-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/img_1005_morgan_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/morgan-lifecar-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/img_1004_morgan_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/morgan-lifecar-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01morgan_lifecar_gen01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/morgan-lifecar-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02morgan_lifecar_gen02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/morgan-lifecar-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/03morgan_lifecar_gen03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/05/geneva-2008-the-morgan-lifecar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Geneva 2008: Morgan LifeCar</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/05/geneva-2008-the-morgan-lifecar/">Geneva 2008: Morgan LifeCar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 05 Mar 2008 08:28:00 EST.
