Ah, to be in college again. The enlightenment. The drinking. The promiscuity. The million-dollar supercars. Wait, what?

That's right. Bugatti is looking for a student intern at their office in Herndon, Virginia, to help coordinate their marketing and press relations activities. Like any internship, most of the job will probably come down to making coffee for and giving back rubs to your superiors. But in this case, the position entails scheduling - and crucially, transporting - the Bugatti press fleet, organizing events and the like.

You'll need to be a college student to apply, and since the listing specifies they'll be testing for drugs, that may narrow down the field considerably. That, and you'll need to be located near Herndon, Virginia, which is fortunately just half an hour out of DC. So if you're studying at Georgetown, GW, American U or any of the other campuses in or near the nation's capital, keep your nose clean and like being around seven-figure exotics, click through the link below to apply.

Hoping to land a job at Ferrari after graduation? The company's been known to recruit straight out of college, but your best bet may be to enroll at the Enzo Ferrari Faculty of Engineering at the University of Modena e Reggio Emilia.

The Italian automaker has been fostering closer and closer ties with the thousand-year-old institute of higher education, having established the "Mille Chili" laboratory there last year. The recent dedication of the engineering faculty in Enzo's name takes it a step further in cementing ties between the two institutions.

The dedication was carried out by Enzo's son Piero Ferrari (who serves as the company's vice-chairman) and Luca di Montezemolo, both of whom were awarded honorary degrees by the school. Details in the press release after the jump.

Do you know where <strike>babies</strike> cars come from? Anderson Analytics took a survey of 1,000 college students from more than 375 universities and discovered that many of them don't. A third of the respondents thought Lexus was American. More than half of them thought Hyundai was Japanese, and at the same time, two-thirds of them think Korean products are no good. Almost half thought Volvo and Saab were German, and more than half thought Land Rover is American. Which, technically, it is, but probably not in the way they meant it.

The survey, carried out last summer, was actually a study of country-of-origin on brand perception. Carmakers weren't the only ones to suffer from "They don't make that here?" syndrome. Almost no one knew that Nokia is Finnish, and almost everyone thought that Motorola's Japanese. But country origin doesn't have the same effect on brand perception for cell phones that it does on cars. However, how important can it be to make sure people know your car is Swedish if those people can't point Sweden out on a map? Just make sure they don't think it's Korean.

Chevrolet recently announced a contest wherein its ads for Super Bowl XLI will be created through a competition amongst teams of college students. All US college students can participate in The Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge. Teams of up to three students will create the concept for a commercial promoting Chevrolet's new lineup of cars and crossovers, specifically the Aveo, Cobalt, HHR, and Equinox. Students will submit presentations showcasing their creative ideas, which will then be judged later this fall. Five teams will be given an all-expense paid trip to Detroit where they will present their ideas in person to Chevrolet and ad agency executives. The winning team will participate in the production process as their concept is developed and made into a 30-second television commercial. The students' commercial will then air during Super Bowl XLI on February 4, 2007. Considering how much 30 seconds of air time costs during the Super Bowl, Chevy is placing a lot of faith in the creativity and marketing savvy of our youth. We'll have to wait until the big game to see if the plan bites them in the ass our not. You can check out more of the contest rules after the jump in Chevy's full press release.

[Source: Chevrolet]
Continue reading Chevy taps student body for Super Bowl ad

Chevy taps student body for Super Bowl ad originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 11 Sep 2006 16:14:00 EST. When Forbes compiled vehicles for its annual "Best Cars for College Students" list, they found only four vehicles qualified to meet its criteria of being affordable, safe, and reliable. Interestingly, the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry, which they deemed the "standard" by which similar vehicles are measured, failed to make the list. According to Forbes, both did poorly on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tests, with the Accord receiving the lowest rating of "poor" for rear-crash protection and the Camry receiving a "marginal" rating in the same test.

So who are the fortunate foursome? They are:

Chevrolet Cobalt - $13,590

Ford Escape - $19,780

Honda Civic - $14,560

Hyundai Sonata - $17,195

How each vehicle scored in the IIHS safety test, Consumer Reports, and J.D. Power can be found on each slide. What do you think? A+ to Forbes on their choices? Or back to school for them? Seems like no one at Forbes even considered keg capacity, the degree to which a car's stereo can annoy neighbors, or maximum number of friends that can be squeezed in for a trip to Windsor.

Related:
