<br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/sonic">Chevrolet Sonic</a> marketing shenanigans continue under the rubric of "Let's Do This," this time with a five-story 3D projection of a claw game on the side of The Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. In fact, a couple of Sunset Boulevard's lanes had to be shut down to accommodate the controls, which were a waist-high gearshift and an acclerator pedal.<br />
<br />
So big was the PR stunt that it earned Chevrolet a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the mightiest claw game on Earth. <a href="/2012/01/22/chevrolet-takes-the-guinness-record-for-the-worlds-largest-claw/#continued">Follow the jump</a> to see it in action and to watch someone win a non-projected, very real, Chevy Sonic.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/22/chevrolet-takes-the-guinness-record-for-the-worlds-largest-claw/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chevrolet takes the Guinness record for the world's largest claw game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/22/chevrolet-takes-the-guinness-record-for-the-worlds-largest-claw/">Chevrolet takes the Guinness record for the world's largest claw game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 22 Jan 2012 19:03:00 EST. <br />
There is no greater test of skill and dexterity than an arcade claw game. Open heart surgery? For amateurs. Watch making? Child's play. Plucking an oddly-shaped stuffed animal from the clutches of its brethren with nothing but three flaccid claws and a joy stick is what it's all about.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/toyota">Toyota</a> recently tapped into humanity's bizarre fascination with robotics, oversize stuffed animals and, of course, the claw game in a promotion for the company's tiny <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/toyota%20ractis/">Ractis</a>. Using a scaled-up version of the same game we all know and love, contestants battled for the keys to their very own sub-compact hatch.<br />
<br />
Alright, so it's all more than a little weird. Whatever. We're more concerned with the fact that the winner will have a hard time fitting their huge stuffed bear into their apartment, much less their Ractis. <a href="/2011/10/07/toyota-builds-giant-arcade-claw-game-to-sell-cars-in-japan/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to check out the insanity for yourself.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/07/toyota-builds-giant-arcade-claw-game-to-sell-cars-in-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota builds giant arcade claw game to sell cars in Japan</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/07/toyota-builds-giant-arcade-claw-game-to-sell-cars-in-japan/">Toyota builds giant arcade claw game to sell cars in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 19:18:00 EST. This year, in addition to the free goodies at the desk (knit beanies, a DJ mix CD), we noticed a line of hacks behind what looks like an xD tuned by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/11/01/five-axis-creates-scion-xa-speedster-for-sema/">Five Axis</a>. A closer look reveals why people are lining up: that's no regular xD, it's a toy crane! The car is literally filled with plush tC, xD, and xB replicas. Best of all, it's free and the claw is modified so that you have to be profoundly untalented to not come out a winner every time. Check out the gallery below to see how free toys happen over at the Scion booth. The photos run in order, so start with number 1 and click through.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-scion-xd-toy-crane">Detroit 2008: Scion xD Toy Crane</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-scion-xd-toy-crane/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/naias_scionclaw_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-scion-xd-toy-crane/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/naias_scionclaw_010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-scion-xd-toy-crane/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/naias_scionclaw_009_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-scion-xd-toy-crane/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/naias_scionclaw_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-scion-xd-toy-crane/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/naias_scionclaw_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/15/detroit-diversion-the-scion-xd-toy-crane/">Detroit Diversion: The Scion xD toy crane</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 15 Jan 2008 16:56:00 EST.
