Honda has issued a voluntary recall of its 2012 Civic over a potential issue with the left driveshaft. There are 50,000 cars that might be affected by an improperly assembled part. The fault can lead to the shaft dislodging from the outer CV joint while the car is moving, resulting in a loss of power and the inability to prevent the car from rolling away in certain conditions when the car is parked.

No accidents or deaths have been reported over the issue. Honda will notify owners beginning later this month, at which time they can take their cars to their dealers for inspection. You'll find the full release from Honda by scrolling down.
Continue reading Honda recalling 50,000 new Civic models over driveshaft fear

Honda recalling 50,000 new Civic models over driveshaft fear originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 13 Jun 2012 13:31:00 EST. Honda has released notice of a recall for its 2011 Civic compact. The issue stems from a malignant fuel pump, which may have modules inside that became damaged during production. So far, no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of the faulty fuel pumps. However, the damaged unit could cause fuel to leak onto the emissions canister in the event of a roll-over crash, potentially turning a bad accident into a fiery tragedy.

This recall comes on the heels of another Honda issue, which involves 2006-2007 Civic Hybrid models. This new voluntary recall affects 18,056 vehicles, and Honda plans to begin notifying owners beginning in mid-April. Peek beyond the jump for the official press verbiage with all the details.
But that's the reason Honda is recalling more than 182,000 of them made in 2006-2007.

Honda says the trouble comes from a leaky O-ring in the wheel speed sensor. Water could damage the wheel bearing, which could result in one of the four wheels falling off, "possibly resulting in a crash." Ya think?

Owners of the affected Civics can expect a note in the mail from Honda, offering to fix the problem and replace any damaged parts.

You can read the full recall notice from NHTSA.gov after the jump.

Thanks for the tip, Herb!

[Source: The Detroit News]
Continue reading Wheels could fall off on 182,000 recalled Honda Civics

Wheels could fall off on 182,000 recalled Honda Civics originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 14 Sep 2007 19:22:00 EST.
