<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/citroen">Citro&euml;n</a> has taken the digital wraps off of its upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ds5">DS5</a> as part of its debut at this week's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/shanghai-motor-show">Shanghai Motor Show</a>, and from the looks of things, the new model is about as sexy as a small wagon/hatch can be. There's plenty of influence from the smaller <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ds3">DS3</a> thanks to an aggressively swept nose and curvaceous flanks, though expect to find a lot more interior room on board. The new production Citro&euml;n takes dead aim at manufacturers like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw">BMW</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/audi">Audi</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/mercedes-benz">Mercedes-Benz</a>, albeit with a uniquely French sensibility.<br />
<br />
Technically, the DS5 is based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/508">Peugeot 508</a> platform, which means that the Citro&euml;n will likely inherit some of that sedan's favorable driving characteristics. Drivetrain options are still up in the air at the moment, though word has it that buyers will be able to get their hands on a hybrid version once the car sees showrooms. In that guise, the wagon will boast around 200 horsepower thanks to a diesel engine up front and an electric motor out back.<br />

<br />
With the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ds3">DS3</a> hatchback already on the market and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ds4">DS4</a> crossover soon to reach dealers, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/citroen">Citro&euml;n</a> has confirmed plans to launch the next model in its premium lineup next week at the <a href="http://autoblog.com/shanghai-motor-show">Shanghai Motor Show</a>.<br />
<br />
We don't know much about the DS5 at this point, except to assume that it's likely based on the C5. Bearing in mind that the three-door DS3 is based on the five-door C3, and that the DS4 crossover is based on the C4 hatchback, there's no telling what body-style the DS5 will carry on the back of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/18/citroen-unveils-new-c5/">C5</a> sedan. Given the latest industry trends, we're probably looking at a four-door coupe or five-door slant-back.<br />
<br />
The car will be launched simultaneously with the Shanghai show floor debut on the French automaker's <a href="http://www.facebook.com/Citroen">Facebook page</a>.<br />

The windshield has been extended further into the roof, creating a pseudo sunroof and eschewing any rumors about a panoramic glass top. New chrome trim surrounds the grille and across the hatch, while the revised rear end features new tail lamps and a more bulbous back side. If you're seeing a few shades of the recently revealed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/CitroenDS3/">Citroen DS3</a> concept, you aren't mistaken, as this new C3 takes several cues from the compact concept that debuted in Geneva.<br /><br />Speaking of the DS3, <em>Autocar</em> is reporting that development of the upcoming DS4 and DS5 is churning along, and both models will supposedly be high-riding crossovers influenced by the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/CSportlounge/">C-Sportlounge</a> concept and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Hypnos/">Hypnos</a> concept, along with a roofline eerily reminiscent of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/BMWX6/">BMW X6</a>. The allure of coupe-like CUVs obviously isn't lost on the French, and we can expect one of the new crossover concepts to be revealed alongside the production CS3 in Frankfurt.<br /><br />[Sources: <a href="http://www.worldcarfans.com/109062420128/new-citroen-c3-leaks-out-from-private-showing-for-dealers">WCF</a>, <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/240911/">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/24/citroen-c3-leaks-out-ds4-and-ds5-details-surface/">Citroen C3 leaks out, DS4 and DS5 details surface</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 24 Jun 2009 19:29:00 EST. Called HYbrid4, the propulsion system is earmarked for initial implementation on the Peugeot 3008 crossover. But after that, its sister-company Citroen will use the system in an all-new vehicle: the DS5.<br /><br />Following on the heels of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/CitroenDS3/">Citroen DS3</a> premium hatchback displayed at this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, the DS5 will be the second vehicle in the company's revived premium line. Styling, as this initial rendering suggests, should follow along the same line, but in a sleeker, more elongated form. But the real party trick will be under the hood, with the option of serial or parallel hybrid propulsion through the front, rear or all four wheels, all the while reducing complicated moving parts in the process. Sources suggest the use of the HYbrid4 system would add less than $3,000 to the car's list price, while returning significant improvement in fuel economy and emitting 35% less CO2 than even its particulate-filtering conventional counterparts. The Citroen DS5 could be on the road as early as 2011.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/235581/citroen_ds5_revealed.html">Auto Express</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/05/rendered-speculation-citroen-ds5-premium-diesel-hybrid/">Rendered Speculation: Citroen DS5 premium diesel hybrid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 15:58:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Peugeot 3008 crossover - Click above for a high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />PSA Peugeot Citro&euml;n has announced plans to introduce a new diesel hybrid drivetrain that will conveniently do away with the need for a complex system of driveshafts and transaxles. The clever HYbrid4 system - sometimes referred to as a <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/10/06/paris-2008-peugeot-citroen-hymotion4-hybrid-drive-system/">through-the-road hybrid</a> - is contained inside a new rear axle assembly that incorporates an integrated electric motor. This arrangement will allow for any combination of front-, rear- or all-wheel drive, with power coming from the diesel engine alone, the electric motor alone or from the two powerplants combined.<br /><br />Due to its modular design, the technology can quickly spread across the automaker's entire line. The first model slated for the fuel-saving tech is the Peugeot 3008 crossover, prototypes of which are already in the testing phase. Next down the line will be the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/02/citroen-bringing-back-the-ds-in-three-flavors/">Citro&euml;n DS5</a>. All told, the automaker expects to see a 35% reduction in CO2 emissions with an attendant improvement in fuel efficiency.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-peugeot-3008">2010 Peugeot 3008</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-peugeot-3008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/01/3008_0812ps002-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-peugeot-3008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/01/3008_0812ps007-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-peugeot-3008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/01/3008_0812ps006-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-peugeot-3008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/01/3008_0812ps001-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2010-peugeot-3008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/01/3008_0812ps034-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: PSA Peugeot Citro&euml;n]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/30/psa-peugeot-citroen-planning-diesel-hybrid-for-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSA Peugeot Citroën planning diesel hybrid for 2011</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/30/psa-peugeot-citroen-planning-diesel-hybrid-for-2011/">PSA Peugeot Citroën planning diesel hybrid for 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 30 Apr 2009 16:01:00 EST. <br />Think about French automobiles and inevitably two vehicles spring to mind: the quirky 2CV and the iconic Citroen DS. Both models are cult favorites and at least one is making a comeback.<br /><br />Citroen is launching a global rebranding campaign this Wednesday in conjunction with its 90th birthday, and along with upgrading its dealers and providing better post-sales support, Citroen will introduce a new segment of "near-premium" models that will revive the DS nameplate.<br /><br />The first concept, a small car wearing a DS3 badge, will be unveiled at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> this March and hit the European market in the first half of 2010. Citroen will expand the range to include a lower-midsize vehicle, dubbed the DS4, due to go on sale in 2011, while a third model, an upper-medium sized sedan wearing a DS5 nameplate, will arrive in showrooms in late 2011.<br /><br />The new DS range of vehicles will be positioned higher than their corresponding C3, C4 and C5 stablemates, and will likely feature more striking designs and luxurious appointments. We'll catch our first glimpse of the Citroen DS3 in less than a month, but expect more details to be released later this week.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds">Citroen DS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/134081823_e7b6a8fc92_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1407918383_c8ba6b241e_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1433075675_813930d955_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1499416893_c6a3481366_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1599542175_9b3ea463ef_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20090202/ANE02/902020290/1018">Automotive News</a> - Sub.
