When you think of hot hatches, one French automaker comes to mind... but it's not Citroën. Maybe it should be, though, because some of the industry's best hot hatches are honed on the rally stage, and nobody has dominated the modern World Rally Championship like Citroën has. With the legendary Sébastien Loeb behind the wheel, Citroën won nine Drivers' and eight Constructors' titles between 2003 and 2012. And the last two were scored in the DS3 WRC. The 2014 Citroën DS3
Citroen Ds3 Racing
We just heard about the Citroën DS3 Cabrio Racing getting its global debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, now Autocar reports that Citroën reps on site have said they're studying production possibilities. This would back up what UK magazine What Car? was also told by the car's project director in January of this year: "There's no reason why we couldn't do it – it could make sense."
Among the numerous renditions of its DS line unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, Citroën went a step further with the introduction of the DS3 Racing S. Loeb. Taking advantage of the ridiculous success it has had with the DS4 WRC piloted by Sebastien Loeb, the DS3 Racing S. Loeb is for those who want a cuter brute than the DS4 Racing Concept.
Whether or not you're a fan of pop music and hip-hop, car nuts sit up and take notice when their music videos feature some hot rides. We've seen everything from Kanye chopping up a Maybach to Danica driving Italian exotics in Monte Carlo. (Come to think of it, both those two are Jay-Z videos.) Now British pop star Pixie Lott and American rapper Pusha T have brought out a different kind of ride for their latest music video.
Power is nothing without control. That's what Pirelli told us with the famous image of the sprinter in the high-heeled shoes a couple of decades ago. And they were right. Because while some have been known to drive supercars in flip-flops, any racing driver will tell you that you need a proper pair of driving shoes to drive a performance vehicle properly. Which is why we've seen so many automakers offering their own line of driving shoes to go with their cars. And the latest is Citroën.
Everyone's favorite car show is slated to return sometime next month, but we've got little indication of what to expect. We'll know soon enough, but before the first episode of the new season of Top Gear airs – likely with a teaser of what's to come – we've got these snapshots to go by.
