<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/citroen/">Citro&euml;n</a> announced that it will be bringing the "latest expression" of its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/citroen+ds/">DS lineup</a> to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/shanghai-motor-show/">Shanghai Motor Show</a> next week, with this aubergine-hued concept called Wild Rubis. For the record, "Rubis" is French for "Ruby" and alludes to that purple/red paint, as far as we can make out.<br />
<br />
The French automaker tells us that the Wild Rubis foreshadows an upcoming DS SUV. The concept is going to be "full-hybrid, plug-in technology," beyond that, however, details are quite sparse. We expect that we'll receive a lot more in the way of detail about the Wild Rubis when Citro&euml;n rolls it out on the stage in China.<br />
<br />
What the <a href="/2013/04/11/citroen-bringing-wild-rubis-concept-to-shanghai/#continued">press release</a> lacks in detail, however, Citro&euml;n has certainly made up for in imagery. It seems that before shipping the concept to Shanghai, the Wild Rubis was photographed extensively at the Cheval Blanc wine-growing estate in the Saint-Emilion area of France. The result is a massive image <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citro-n-wild-rubis-concept-0/">gallery</a> for you to explore and enjoy.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/04/11/citroen-bringing-wild-rubis-concept-to-shanghai/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Citroën bringing Wild Rubis concept to Shanghai</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/04/11/citroen-bringing-wild-rubis-concept-to-shanghai/">Citroën bringing Wild Rubis concept to Shanghai</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 11 Apr 2013 19:15:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/citroen">Citro&euml;n</a> has finally given the world a closer look at the company's next <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/citroen ds">DS</a> design study. The French automaker is set to introduce the DS line to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/china">China</a> this year, and the Numero 9 design study is set to mark the occasion. Citro&euml;n will officially unveil the concept at this month's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/beijing auto show">Beijing Auto Show</a>, and the manufacturer says the low-slung hatchback's design hints toward future products, namely a premium c-segment sedan, an SUV (read: crossover) and a larger D-segment four door. All we know is, it looks damn good.<br />
<br />
The Numero 9 shooting brake is powered by a plug-in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/hybrid">hybrid</a> drivetrain that offers a 31-mile electric range and 295 horsepower. Not too shabby. <a href="/2012/04/13/pics-aplenty-citroen-to-roll-out-sexy-numero-9-concept-w-video/#continued">Scroll down</a> for an artsy video of the concept as well as the full press release. Of course, you can also sink your teeth into the dizzying slew of photos in the gallery above.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/13/pics-aplenty-citroen-to-roll-out-sexy-numero-9-concept-w-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pics Aplenty: Citroën to roll out sexy Numero 9 concept [w/video]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/13/pics-aplenty-citroen-to-roll-out-sexy-numero-9-concept-w-video/">Pics Aplenty: Citroën to roll out sexy Numero 9 concept [w/video]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-regina-concept-tokyo-2011/"><img alt="Suzuki Regina Concept" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2011/12/01-suzuki-regina-concept-tokyo-2011628.jpg" style="margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px; width: 628px; height: 419px;" /></a><br />
	<br />
	There's something about the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/suzuki/">Suzuki</a> Regina Concept that we like. A lot. For starters, it has a white roof. What's cool about that, you ask? Well, after <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/">Ford</a> stole the idea from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mini/">Mini</a> for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/flex/">Flex</a>, nothing. But darn it if it doesn't look good here. With those rear fender skirts, we're actually seeing a good bit of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/citroen/">Citro&euml;n</a> DS in Suzuki's stylish little econobox, and as we all know, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/12/car-designers-name-citroen-ds-most-beautiful-car-ever/">the DS is the most beautiful car of all time</a>.<br />
	<br />
	The Regina Concept, on the other hand, is just an idea for a 1,600-pound sedan that gets 75 miles per gallon. Suzuki didn't share details about the powertrain, but <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle.aspx?AR=260313"><em>Autocar</em> is reporting</a> that the Regina Concept is powered by a turbocharged, 800-cc gasoline engine, and uses both start-stop and regenerative braking tech to achieve such lofty fuel economy.<br />
	<br />
	A car that light could be powered by a leaf blower and still be fun to drive, so we're giving this one a thumbs up. Go ahead and build it, Suzuki, because you know someone will figure out a way to put a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/29/gm-marks-100-millionth-small-block-engine-built-w-video/">small-block Chevy</a> in it. <a href="/2011/12/01/suzuki-regina-concept-tokyo-2011/#continued">Hit the jump</a> for Suzuki's short press release.</p><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/01/suzuki-regina-concept-tokyo-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Gas-sipping Suzuki Regina Concept begs for production</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/01/suzuki-regina-concept-tokyo-2011/">Gas-sipping Suzuki Regina Concept begs for production</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 01 Dec 2011 19:00:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/citroen">Citro&euml;n</a> has done a lot with the DS lineup over the past couple of years. From a long-dormant nameplate it has built a range of three models - <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ds3">DS3</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ds4">DS4</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ds5">DS5</a> - but according to the latest reports, has no plans of slowing down any time soon.<br />
<br />
Among the most interesting plans involve the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/citroen+ds3+racing/">DS3 Racing</a>. The extroverted hot hatch, with its 200-horsepower turbo four and anything-but-subtle color scheme, was initially planned as a limited edition of 1,000 vehicles. Popular demand across Europe saw that increase more than twofold to around 2,400, but sources suggest that with even those almost all sold out, a new version could be in the works.<br />
<br />
Demand in China - which is rapidly becoming the largest market for many automakers, Citro&euml;n included - for larger vehicles could also see the range expand with a bigger version of the DS5 and maybe even a flagship production version of the Metropolis concept pictured above.<br />
<br />
Beyond that, we're told to expect - or at least for our overseas readers to expect - a wide range of new options and special editions in the years to come. Looks like we haven't seen the last of the DS line.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/17/citroen-to-expand-ds-line-with-larger-models-for-china-new-ds3/">Citroen to expand DS line with larger models for China, new DS3 Racing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 17 Oct 2011 07:57:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/citroen/"> Citro&euml;n</a> continues to expand its DS lineup of cars. The first model-launched with the DS styling was the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/citroen+ds3/">DS3</a>, and here at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/paris-motor-show/">Paris Motor Show</a> we have just gotten our first look at the all-new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/citroen+ds4/">Citro&euml;n DS4</a>. <br />
<br />
The five-door hatchback shows off the new direction of Citro&euml;n styling and pushes the automaker into a new era. The DS4 will be available with a slew of engine choices that can be paired up with either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. For diesel fans, there are 110- and 160-horsepower units, however the ever-important torque figures are not yet available. Petrolheads can choose from either 120-, 155- or 200-hp gasoline-drinking variants. Word on the virtual street is that a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/08/citroen-reportedly-readying-hot-hybrid-ds4-racing-model/">sportier DS4 Racing model</a> is also in the works.<br />
<br />
We love seeing automakers push for new design styles that help refine the brand. It's even better when they create a car that looks damn good in the process. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/01/paris-2010-2011-citroen-ds4-continues-the-automakers-design-re/#continued">Hop the jump</a> to learn more about the all-new Citro&euml;n DS4.<br />

<br />
The French can do style. But their automakers don't do much in the premium market this side of the <a href="http://autoblog.com/model/veyron">Veyron</a>. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/citroen">Citroen</a>, however, is bent on bridging that divide with its new DS range.<br />
<br />
Reviving the iconic nameplate, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/02/citroen-bringing-back-the-ds-in-three-flavors/">DS line</a> kicked off right here last year with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-citroen-ds3-concept-hiding-in-the-dark/">DS Inside concept</a>. The production version, dubbed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/citroen-releases-production-ds3-ahead-of-frankfurt-debut/">DS3</a>, has since hit the market - overseas, anyway - but that's only the first chapter in the saga. Up next is the DS4, and this is the concept that shows the way. Called the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/12/geneva-preview-citroen-teases-ds4-crossover-concept/">DS High Rider</a>, the show car is based on the C4 hatchback but transformed into a premium three-door crossover.<br />
<br />
Along with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/19/200-hp-citroen-ds3-racing-confirmed-for-geneva/">DS3 Racing</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/02/geneva-2010-citroen-survolt-bridges-the-divide/">Survolt</a> concept, Citroen took the wraps off the DS High Rider here at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show/">2010 Geneva Motor Show</a>, highlighting that the French automaker is one of only six that has participated in every edition of the exposition over the course of its 80-year history. It's an intriguing concept, but don't take our word for it: Have a look for yourself in the gallery of live shots below and the studio shots below that.<br />

Episode #167 of the Autoblog Podcast is a fine quartet of Chris Shunk, Sam Abuelsamid, Chris Paukert and Dan Roth. We breeze through the Autoblog Garage, filled with a snow-tired Camaro, a pair of Audi cabrios and a Kia Forte Koup, before hitting the news. <br />
<br />
Audi's updated <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/officially-official-audi-rs5-hitting-geneva-with-450-hp-4-2l-v/">RS5</a>, with a clear-voiced 4.2-liter V8 is up first, followed by the want-it-now <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/bmw-confirms-5-series-touring-reveal-for-leipzig/">BMW 5 Series Touring</a>. We're not done with Europe yet, kicking around the <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/video-the-mercedes-f800-from-every-angle/">Mercedes-Benz F800</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/19/200-hp-citroen-ds3-racing-confirmed-for-geneva/">Citro&euml;n DS3 Racing</a> before heading across La Manche to check out the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/geneva-preview-lotus-provides-a-peak-at-proton-city-car-concept/">Lotus Proton PHEV</a> and then discuss <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/new-york-preview-kia-teases-magentis-aka-optima-midsize-sedan/">Kia's Magentis</a> renderings. Wrapping it up, we surmise what Chrysler's purported refreshes might turn out to be and talk about the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/report-toyota-bragged-about-saving-100m-with-limited-recall/">overwhelming crush</a> of <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/abc-news-expert-says-electronic-design-flaw-to-blame-in-runaway/">Toyota recall</a> and Congressional hearing news before taking some questions and calling it a night. <br />

<br />
Sometimes we're happy when a concept car gets approved for production. This time around... not so much. According to reports from across the pond, the Citroen Revolte concept has been approved for production and will carry the DS2 badge when it arrives.<br />
<br />
The concept car was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/16/frankfurt-2009-citroen-revolte-is-exactly-that/">unveiled a couple of months ago at the Frankfurt show</a>, and suffice it to say, it wasn't exactly the best looking debut at the expo. Supposedly reviving the iconic 2CV, the Revolte concept certainly lived up to its name. The production version, meanwhile, is tipped to take on the DS2 nameplate as part of the French automaker's new premium line-up that started with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/16/frankfurt-2009-2010-citroen-ds3-looks-good-needs-a-new-name/">DS3</a> and is slated to grow with the inclusion of the DS4 (based on the upcoming new C4) and DS5 (based on - you guessed it - the new C5). Power for the DS2 is expected to come in the form of a range of three-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines when it hits the streets sometime around 2011.<br />
<br />
The best we can say is this: At least it will remain far away from the States, as Citroen stays out of the North American market.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><small>Citroen SM Oil Change How To - click above image to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/16/video-helpful-french-people-teach-you-how-to-change-your-citroe/">watch the video</a></small></em></strong></div>
<br />
Assuming most of you are Citroen owners, we're confident you'll find the following video extremely helpful. Even if you just own a DS or CX and not a full blown SM, it's useful. Heck, even you 2CV owners might learn a thing or two. For the tiny minority of you out there that <em>don't</em> own Citroens, we will admit that yes, compared to <strike>an aircraft carrier</strike> a Chevelle, an SM is a little tricky to work on. But as long as you view the SM like an airplane -- meaning a series of subsystems -- rather than one, single insanely complex French-Italian mashup (the "M" in SM stands for "Maserati) you'll do just fine. <br />
<br />
In fact, after consuming two bottles of Bordeaux and half a pack of Gallouses you'll be able to repeat the following (from the maintenance section of an SM website): "The backspacing of the crankshaft bore accepting the oil pump shaft is not controlled adequately. The oil pump drive shaft commonly falls into the crank and runs on a small area of its splines thus wearing rapidly. A simple fix is to add a compliant spacer (so as not to end-load the oil pump) in the splined hole in the crankshaft timing sprocket." And hey, so what if the AC compressor is driven by the timing chain and <strike>routinely</strike> rarely jams and <strike>grenades</strike> upsets the engine? With easy to follow maintenance videos like this one, you have nothing to fear but fear itself. <strike>And Citroen SMs.</strike><br />
<br />
<strong>Note:</strong> If you work in a brothel, mens' prison or the San Fernando Valley, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/16/video-helpful-french-people-teach-you-how-to-change-your-citroe/">the video after the jump </a>is totally safe for work. Otherwise, consider it NSFW. And yeah, we wish the clip featured a European SM, and not the compromised, non-hydraulic headlight US version. Still, NSFW!<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/16/video-helpful-french-people-teach-you-how-to-change-your-citroe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Helpful French people teach you how to change your Citroen's oil</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/16/video-helpful-french-people-teach-you-how-to-change-your-citroe/">VIDEO: Helpful French people teach you how to change your Citroen's oil</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 16 Oct 2009 20:01:00 EST. <br /> French fashion is at the forefront of the industry, and the same goes for French cuisine and French wine. But when it comes to cars, France's auto industry can hook you up (assuming you live overseas) with economical hatchbacks and minivans, but that's just about it until you get to the seven-figure Bugatti Veyron. Which is owned by a bunch of German fellows. That gigantic gap is apparently one which Citro&euml;n hopes to plug with its new DS line.<br /> <br /> Citro&euml;n launched its premium initiative with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-citroen-ds3-concept-hiding-in-the-dark/">DS Inside Concept at the Geneva Motor Show</a> this past March, and the French automaker has a whole range of premium vehicles lined up. Now Citro&euml;n has released the production version of the first model in the line, and it looks pretty darn close to the concept. In fact, the only thing they seemed to have changed from the show car to the production model is the exhaust - switched from twin pipes to a single tip - and the radio antenna, which goes with a conventional aerial instead of the concept's fin. Otherwise - and overall - Citro&euml;n appears to have managed the transition from concept to production in exceptionally smooth style - even retaining the showcar's unique fin-like B-pillar treatment.<br /> <br /> The compact premium hatch shares its underpinnings with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/30/officially-official-2010-citroen-c3-is-here/">the new C3</a>, only with a touch more class. Like a custom-tailored French suit, buyers can specify a whole range of color choices, extending beyond the usual exterior and interior shades to include the roof color, door mirror housings, dashboard trims, wheel hubs and more. <br /> <br /> Power choices include two diesels (90 or 110 horsepower, respectively) and three gasoline engines (95, 120 or 150 horsepower), with five- or six-speed manuals. Mini and Fiat ought to take notice, and you can check out the full details in the press release after the jump and the images in the high-res mega gallery below.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds3-2">Citroen DS3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds3-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/09y12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="09y12" title="09y12" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds3-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/09y2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="09y2" title="09y2" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds3-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/09y6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="09y6" title="09y6" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds3-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/09y3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="09y3" title="09y3" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds3-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/09y13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="09y13" title="09y13" /></a></div><br /> [Source: Citro&euml;n]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/citroen-releases-production-ds3-ahead-of-frankfurt-debut/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Citroën releases production DS3 ahead of Frankfurt debut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/citroen-releases-production-ds3-ahead-of-frankfurt-debut/">Citroën releases production DS3 ahead of Frankfurt debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Aug 2009 13:00:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><small style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Citroen DS Inside interior - Click above for a high-res image gallery</small><br /></div>
<br />At the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in March, Citroen pushed its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-citroen-ds3-concept-hiding-in-the-dark/">DS3 concept</a> into a darkened corner with horrible lighting, making the actual vehicle extremely difficult to see and photograph. Apparently, the quirky French automaker wasn't quite ready to have the motoring public take a good look at its DS revival. That changes today as Citroen has released a bevy of images along with a video of its latest DS Inside concept vehicle, which is likely a thinly veiled demonstration of what's in store for the upcoming DS3 production model.<br /><br />We can clearly see that Citroen is planning to make the DS3 a premium small car. Leather surfaces with unique textures and graining are the theme inside, and we think it's all highly purposeful and attractive. Unlike recent modern takes on classic vintage designs from Volkswagen, Mini and Fiat, the revived DS shares absolutely nothing in common with its forebear and namesake. Couldn't we at least get a cool single-spoke steering wheel to gaze at? See for yourself in our gallery below and in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/29/citroen-ds-inside-insides-revealed/">video posted after the break</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-inside-interior-shots">Citroen DS Inside interior shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-inside-interior-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/citroen_dsinside_interior_45_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-inside-interior-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/citroen_dsinside_interior_49_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-inside-interior-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/citroen_dsinside_interior_50_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-inside-interior-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/citroen_dsinside_interior_53_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-inside-interior-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/citroen_dsinside_interior_14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/29/citroen-ds-inside-insides-revealed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Citroen DS Inside insides revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/29/citroen-ds-inside-insides-revealed/">Citroen DS Inside insides revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 29 May 2009 16:58:00 EST. Called HYbrid4, the propulsion system is earmarked for initial implementation on the Peugeot 3008 crossover. But after that, its sister-company Citroen will use the system in an all-new vehicle: the DS5.<br /><br />Following on the heels of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/CitroenDS3/">Citroen DS3</a> premium hatchback displayed at this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, the DS5 will be the second vehicle in the company's revived premium line. Styling, as this initial rendering suggests, should follow along the same line, but in a sleeker, more elongated form. But the real party trick will be under the hood, with the option of serial or parallel hybrid propulsion through the front, rear or all four wheels, all the while reducing complicated moving parts in the process. Sources suggest the use of the HYbrid4 system would add less than $3,000 to the car's list price, while returning significant improvement in fuel economy and emitting 35% less CO2 than even its particulate-filtering conventional counterparts. The Citroen DS5 could be on the road as early as 2011.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/235581/citroen_ds5_revealed.html">Auto Express</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/05/rendered-speculation-citroen-ds5-premium-diesel-hybrid/">Rendered Speculation: Citroen DS5 premium diesel hybrid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 15:58:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for high-res gallery of the Citroen DS3 concept</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />A few weeks back, Citroen announced that it would bring the DS appellation to a line of premium models based on several of its existing cars. The first example will evidently be the DS3 coming next year. In spite of bringing the car to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in concept form this week, Citroen is apparently not too keen on people actually seeing the car itself. A styling buck of the DS3 is tucked away in a tiny dark alcove off the back of the main Citroen display at the PalExpo. Once you step inside there is a narrow walkway around the car and the lighting is mostly dim with occasional flashes. <br /><br />It's truly a shame because the DS3 is actually a pretty decent looking three-door hatchback with some interesting styling elements, aside from the hot pink roof over the gray body. Aside from the dual chevrons, though, there is nothing about this car that is reminiscent of an original DS. Hopefully next time Citroen will exhibit some confidence and show this car out in the open. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-citroen-ds-inside-concept">Geneva 2009: Citroen DS Inside Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-citroen-ds-inside-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-gen-09-citroen-ds-inside-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-citroen-ds-inside-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-gen-09-citroen-ds-inside-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-citroen-ds-inside-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-gen-09-citroen-ds-inside-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-citroen-ds-inside-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-gen-09-citroen-ds-inside-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-citroen-ds-inside-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-gen-09-citroen-ds-inside-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-citroen-ds3-concept-hiding-in-the-dark/">Geneva 2009: Citroen DS3 concept hiding in the dark</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 08:58:00 EST. <br />The time has come for the Citroen DS to rise out of the ashes. While the classic French automobile was being <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/12/car-designers-name-citroen-ds-most-beautiful-car-ever/">named the most beautiful in history</a> by a panel of the world's top automotive designers and a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/11/rare-citroen-ds-convertible-feches-440k-at-retromobile-auction/">rare example sold at auction</a> for some $440,000, Citroen was preparing to announce <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/02/citroen-bringing-back-the-ds-in-three-flavors/">the revival of the classic badge</a> with a new sub-brand, to be launched at the upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/citroen-ds3-concept-leaks-out-before-geneva-debut/">DS Inside concept</a>. Citroen's not about to let the opportunity pass it by, and to that end has already announced the launch of a line of DS merchandise to piggy-back on the line's revival.<br /><br />The line takes the same neo-retro approach as the concept car, obviously targeted at the same trendy, young. upscale demographic as Citroen will be pursuing with its new sub-brand. The line includes items as diverse as snowboards, sunglasses and luggage, which you can check out in the gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-merchandise">Citroen DS merchandise</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-merchandise/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/citroen-ds-lifestyle_9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-merchandise/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/citroen-ds-lifestyle_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-merchandise/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/citroen-ds-lifestyle_7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-merchandise/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/citroen-ds-lifestyle_6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds-merchandise/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/citroen-ds-lifestyle_8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/02/citroen-ds-lifestyle-accessories.html">CarScoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/17/french-connection-citroen-launches-merchandise-line-to-coincide/">French Connection: Citroen launches merchandise line to coincide with DS revival</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 08:32:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the Citroen DS</small></strong></em><br /><em><strong></strong></em></div>
<em><strong><small><br /></small></strong></em>If you had to pick one car, from throughout the history of the automobile, as the most beautiful of all time, what would it be? The Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic? Ferrari 250 GTO? Pontiac Aztek? Tough decision, and while everyone has their own opinion, we'd be hard pressed to pick just one. That's why the editors of <span style="font-style: italic;">Classic &amp; Sports Car </span>magazine assembled a panel of some of the most influential car designers around and asked them to choose. And what did they come up with? The Citroen DS.<br /><br />Names like Ian Callum (famous for his Jaguar and Aston Martin designs), Leonardo Fioravanti (of Pininfarina/Ferrari fame), ItalDesign founder Giorgetto Giugiaro, former McLaren designer Gordon Murray, former Pininfarina chief Ken Okuyama, and Ford's European design director Martin Smith were all part of the jury which placed the Citroen DS ahead of the Jaguar, Ferrari and Lotus icons that rounded out the Top 10, which you can see in the press release after the jump. A timely choice, to be sure, as Citroen prepares to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/02/citroen-bringing-back-the-ds-in-three-flavors/">relaunch the DS line</a> with a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/citroen-ds3-concept-leaks-out-before-geneva-debut/">new concept in Geneva</a>. But a peculiar choice just the same.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds">Citroen DS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/134081823_e7b6a8fc92_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1407918383_c8ba6b241e_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1433075675_813930d955_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1499416893_c6a3481366_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1599542175_9b3ea463ef_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.classicandsportscar.com/">Classic &amp; Sports Car</a> via <a href="http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive/2009/02/09-citroen-ds-most-beautiful-car/">Car Body Design</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/12/car-designers-name-citroen-ds-most-beautiful-car-ever/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Car designers name Citroen DS "most beautiful car". <br />Bugattis, Ferraris, an Maseratis are commonly among the blue-chip properties at classic car auctions, but Citroens don't usually rank among the big-ticket items - especially not Seventies models - but at Bonhams' recent Retromobile auction in Paris, one rare Citroen sold for a high bid of 337,500 Euros (about $440k), assumed to be a record for the French marque. The car in question is a rare 1973 DS23, converted by coachbuilder Henri Chapron to a convertible - one of only three DS23 convertibles built, and the only one with fuel injection.<br /><br />The sleek profile cut by the special drop-top DS prompted Citroen to add a convertible option to their regular catalog, selling 1365 examples over the course of some fifteen years. The sale of this original could hardly have come at a better time, as Citroen prepares to re-enter the premium segment by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/02/citroen-bringing-back-the-ds-in-three-flavors/">reviving the DS nameplate</a>, to be previewed next month by the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/citroen-ds3-concept-leaks-out-before-geneva-debut/">DS3 Inside concept</a> at the Geneva show. <br />Think about French automobiles and inevitably two vehicles spring to mind: the quirky 2CV and the iconic Citroen DS. Both models are cult favorites and at least one is making a comeback.<br /><br />Citroen is launching a global rebranding campaign this Wednesday in conjunction with its 90th birthday, and along with upgrading its dealers and providing better post-sales support, Citroen will introduce a new segment of "near-premium" models that will revive the DS nameplate.<br /><br />The first concept, a small car wearing a DS3 badge, will be unveiled at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> this March and hit the European market in the first half of 2010. Citroen will expand the range to include a lower-midsize vehicle, dubbed the DS4, due to go on sale in 2011, while a third model, an upper-medium sized sedan wearing a DS5 nameplate, will arrive in showrooms in late 2011.<br /><br />The new DS range of vehicles will be positioned higher than their corresponding C3, C4 and C5 stablemates, and will likely feature more striking designs and luxurious appointments. We'll catch our first glimpse of the Citroen DS3 in less than a month, but expect more details to be released later this week.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds">Citroen DS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/134081823_e7b6a8fc92_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1407918383_c8ba6b241e_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1433075675_813930d955_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1499416893_c6a3481366_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/citroen-ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/1599542175_9b3ea463ef_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20090202/ANE02/902020290/1018">Automotive News</a> - Sub. Across the Atlantic in France, the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_DS">Martians forgot their space capsule</a>. There is no other way to explain a car that debuted in 1955 having such sophistication - a hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension, excellent handling and ride, and headlamps that swiveled with the steering, to name a few. The Citroen DS was a unique, well-loved, amazing piece of engineering. It appears that the fondness for the DS of yore gave rise to an evocative fantasy creation, the <a href="http://www.citroen.mb.ca/citroenet/miscellaneous/d5/d5.html">D5</a>. Featured in an <a href="http://www.auto-moto.com/accueil/index.php">Auto Moto</a> magazine article that "covered" the D5's unveiling at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the rendering pictured here certainly lifts its majorstyling cues from the iconic DS. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.citroen.mb.ca/citroenet/miscellaneous/d5/d5.html">Citroenet</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/28/your-spaceship-has-arrived-the-spiritual-successor-to-the-citro/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Your spaceship has arrived: The spiritual successor to the Citroen DS?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/28/your-spaceship-has-arrived-the-spiritual-successor-to-the-citro/">Your spaceship has arrived: The spiritual successor to the Citroen DS?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 28 Nov 2006 11:08:00 EST. They use them in their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/06/03/citroen-s-new-c4-commercial-is-transforming-experience/">TV commercials</a>, and in Paris today, they opened their press conference with one. Our man on the scene, John Neff, captured the mysteriously-named "Totem-mobile" in action as it morphed from a classic Citro&euml;n DS into a giant God-knows-what. <br /><br />Artist Chico Mac Murtrie is the man responsible for the exhibit, which the automaker claims "emblematically represents Citro&euml;n and its values," illustrating "the successful marriage of art and automobile." <br /><br />That's just a fancy, artsy French way of saying, "Citro&euml;n loves robots!" <br />We think. <br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Check out the full transformation after the jump. </span><br /><br />(Press releases, photos follow)<br /><br />[Source: Citro&euml;n]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/09/28/paris-motor-show-citro-n-totem-mobile/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Paris Motor Show: Citroën Totem-mobile</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/09/28/paris-motor-show-citro-n-totem-mobile/">Paris Motor Show: Citroën Totem-mobile</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 28 Sep 2006 12:47:00 EST.
