Shortly after launching its new C4 hatchback, Citroën upsized it and took it upscale in the form of the DS4. For European buyers intrigued by crossover but not looking for the premium accoutrements, now there's the C4 Aircross.

Like the DS4, the C4 Aircross looks better suited to tackling a wet cobblestone street in Paris than a mountain pass through the French alps. Powertrain choices include a variety of gasoline and diesel engines, ranging from 110 horsepower up to 150, with front- or all-wheel drive. The 18-inch wheels and rear lights, draw their inspiration from the Hypnos concept car, while LED running lights are integrated into the air apertures up front.

Five occupants will also be able to appreciate the panoramic glass sunroof when the model launches in Europe early next year, but you can get the details now in the press release after the jump and eyeball the image gallery for a closer look.
Continue reading Citroën jacks it up with new C4 Aircross

Citroën jacks it up with new C4 Aircross originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 02 Oct 2011 14:03:00 EST.
Fast Lane Daily has been running for some time now. The Next New Networks show first hit the internet back in 2007, and over the course of the last few years have produced quite a bit of content. In fact, the newest episode marks number 1,000 for the FLD crew. To celebrate the occasion, Fast Lane Daily creator Emil Rensing has sent host Derek DeAngelis to Germany so he can drive the Nürburgring. Sounds pretty amazing, until Derek D. realizes his entire trip has a budget of $1,000.

Regardless of the lack of funds, DeAngelis is still able to get to the Green Hell and spend time on the track. It may be behind the wheel of a Citroën C4 but the entire trip clearly has a strong effect on the host. Though the 24-minute clip is longer than the typical Fast Lane Daily segment, we think it's worth it to watch this one all the way through.

Hop the jump to watch FLD's 1,000th episode.

The 2010 Paris Motor Show is a croissant's throw away and automakers all over the globe are showing off their latest and greatest products. Now, Citroën is jumping into the fray by releasing information and images of its redesigned 2011 C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso before the cars make their official debut later this week.

The Grand C4 Picasso was originally launched in 2006 with the smaller C4 Picasso following in early 2007. Both people-movers feature upgrades inside and out. The sleekly styled C4 dives into the LED club by adding the showy daytime running light treatment to its VTR+ and Exclusive models. Also available on the Exclusive model is a Black Top option which covers the roof and A-pillars in a glossy Onyx black finish. Inside, the pair of Picassos receive a long list of standard equipment upgrades including Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port.

The real news lies under the hood - the Grand and standard C4 Picasso will be fitted with Citroën's new e-HDi micro-hybrid technology. The fuel economy rating climbs way up to nearly 60 miles per gallon (in the EU cycle) for both models when fitted with this powertrain.

Both cars will make their debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and we'll be on hand to give you an up close look when they roll out. For now, satiate your French automotive needs by reading the full press release after the jump.

Okay, so it wasn't a championship-level international stage, but just the same, Kimi Raikkonen has won his first rally. The event in question, called Rallye Vosgien, forms part of the French national series, and was contested by Kimi's Citroën Junior Team as practice ahead of the WRC Rally of France.

The former F1 world champion and his co-pilot, Kaj Lindstrom, took their Citroën C4 to the finish line over three minutes ahead of the nearest competitor, Quentin Gilbert, driving a Renault Clio Maxi. Given the similar conditions - and that Citroën Junior Team had used up all its allotted test time - Vosgien proved an ideal warm-up to the main event set to take place at the end of the month.

2011 Citroën C4 - Click above for high-res image gallery

You'd think a term like "all new" would be fairly absolute. But not when it comes to new cars. Take the new Citroën C4, for example. The French automaker calls it "all new". But it's still based on the platform of the outgoing model. That said, the sheetmetal is fresh, the dimensions have grown some and the hatch is packed with all manner of gizmos, solidifying the chevron brand's place as a technological powerhouse.

What sort of tech are we talking about? How about adaptive headlights, lane departure and blind-spot warning systems, user-changeable backlighting in the cabin (along with ringtone-style chimes and alerts) and a new system called eTouch which monitors driving patterns and offers suggestions on how to improve fuel economy. Engine options will likely remain the same, with the addition of the new e-HDi hybrid diesel/electric drivetrain, and we'll be looking for the new C4 to debut in Paris this Fall before sales begin overseas early next year.

The three-door model isn't expected to continue into the new generation, leaving the five-door to go it alone against the likes of the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. The DS4 is expected to be based on this model, but as a crossover it'll be further differentiated than the narrow gap between the smaller C3 and DS3 hatchbacks. Details in the press release after the jump, with initial images in the gallery below.

Oh, my. Talk about a moment filled with more chutzpah than skill.
Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2010 New Look Citroen C4 and robot

We often wonder why French wine, fashion and architecture make total sense to us, yet French commercials often make us go "Um, ok, all right...." Citroen's C4 dancing robot first appeared back in 2004 -- well before Optimus Prime and crew teamed up with film director Michael Bay -- and since then he's done four more commercials to showcase the car that is "alive with technology."

With this latest clip, make that "staying alive with technology." Roaming the streets of New York, he's kitted out in chrome teeth and a glitter beret, jiving out to the Bee Gees while he performs style checks in any mirrored surface and poses for pictures. We have to admit his dance moves are hot, but Ironhide would probably shoot him if given the chance.

As for his alter ego, the New Look Citroen C4, it gets a grille, curvier hood and headlight treatment to match the C5. In back, transparent crystal taillamps replace the previous units. Inside, Citroen's latest NaviDrive has a 7-inch translucent screen pre-programmed for all of Europe. Two new engines, developed with BMW, will provide the car with 120 hp or 150 hp. Most intriguing, the car comes with an integrated, scented air freshener -- because all that dancing can make a robot sweat. Watch the new commercial for yourself after the jump.

Gallery: New Look Citroen C4 and Robot

[Source: YouTube]
Continue reading VIDEO: New Citroen C4 actually a dancing robot

VIDEO: New Citroen C4 actually a dancing robot originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 18 Sep 2008 15:59:00 EST. Renault recently launched its BioEthanol Megane hatchback, and now Citroën has unveiled is entry, the C4 BioFlex, which will go on sale in France next month. When it arrives, the stylish 5-door will be priced identically to its gasoline-only stablemates and will benefit from the same trim levels, as well.

Since Citroën already sells flex-fuel vehicles in Brazil, it didn't have to go to great lengths to source the powerplant in the C4 BioFlex. The 1.6L engine is imported from the Ethanol-happy South American country and makes 110 horsepower and 112 lb-ft of torque when run on E85 compared to 107 HP/108 lb-ft on gasoline. Performance when driven on gasoline only is said to be no different than what's experienced in the C4 1.6i 16V petrol-engined car. As is the case with other flexible-fuel vehicles, the C4 BioFlex can be operated on any fuel blend containing up to 85% Ethanol. It does consume more fuel than the gas-only car (24 mpg vs. 33 mpg), but Citroën claims that it's ultimately cheaper to run because of the price difference between E85 and gasoline.

Pricing has been set at €18,650 for the Pack trim, €20,000 for the Ambiance trim, and €22,140 for the Exclusive model.

[Source: Citroën]

Gallery: Citroen C4 BioFlex

Citroën introducing C4 BioFlex in Europe originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 20 Aug 2007 16:31:00 EST. Like the Xsara, the C4 WRC features four-wheel drive, a 315 hp 2-liter turbocharged engine and a six-speed transverse-mounted semi-automatic gearbox. Front and rear differentials are mechanical, while the center diff is electronically controlled. The C4 WRC is larger than the Xsara, providing a larger, safer compartment for the driver and navigator. Unlike the last factory-run Xsara, the new C4 is more limited by the new WRC rules in the area of electronic driver aids, and major subsystems (engine, gearbox, differentials, shocks) must last longer before replacement.

More pics after the jump.

[Source: Citroën Sport]
Continue reading Paris Preview: Citroën shows off Loeb's new ride

Paris Preview: Citroën shows off Loeb's new ride originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 07 Sep 2006 14:29:00 EST.

China loves its sedans. The exploding market favors the three-box shape to the tune of 80-percent market share, soit isn't surprising that Citroen has grafted a trunk to its C4 in order tocurry favor.

As seen here, the C-Triomphe is a lengthened C4 with the wheelbase extended, lending the car a much more formallook than the dynamic coupe and five-door bodystyles already in circulation. Production commences this summer at theautomaker's local plant in Wuhan, built in 1997.

Citroen enjoyed sales of 100,000 units in China last year, a 34-percent increase. But the upside to China isstartling-- in 2001, all of China purchased 717,000 cars. In 2005? 3,300,0000-- so needless to say, the French carmakercan't graft those boots on fast enough.
