Evo makes a pilgrimage to the Circuit de la Sarthe for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Ferrari 458 Speciale and Porsche 911 GT3, stopping along the way at the old Rouen-Les-Essarts circuit.

Porsche's Neel Jani and Timo Bernhardt have both clocked qualifying times in the 919 Hybrid that eclipse the previous record (for the current configuration that is) set by the Peugeot 908 HDI in 2008.


Porsche seems to be on a campaign to build driving centers for its customers to allow them to experience the capabilities of their cars on track. It has one under way in Los Angeles, another in development at its North American headquarters in Atlanta, and a British center set up at the Silverstone circuit. Now the latest reports indicate that Porsche is planning yet another driving center at Le Mans.


In NASCAR, they say that "rubbin' is racin'", or at least "they" do in Tom Cruise's vision of NASCAR. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, rubbing could lead to serious trouble when you are approaching warp speed on the Mulsanne Straight.
