All Dubai'd out Audi S5 in Moscow - click above image to watch the video

When we were in Frankfurt last week and saw the mirror-finish Audi R8 we thought we were so darn clever because we came up with the phrase, "All Dubai'd out" to describe its shiny, reflective surfaces. A little etymology if you will. The phrase, "All murdered out" has recently entered the car bloggin' lexicon to describe cars that are black-on-black-on-black. In that case, one might say, "Dang, the Brabus Black Baron is all murdered out." And we thought we had a sure fire meme/trope on our hands with "all Dubai'd out." Only we forgot one little thing: Moscow.

Yes, this most certainly is a video of a chrome-look Audi S5 sitting in an underground parking lot. But is it all Dubai'd out, or all Moscow'd out? It's these kind of thoughts that kept us out of the really good schools. Anyhow, the reflective Audi eventually leaves the garage, cruises around Moscow blasting Russian gangsta rap (which is admittedly kinda cool) before stopping to get ogled by some leather jacket wearin', G-Wagon drivin' Russian mobster types. Then, of course by the end, the mirrored S5 can be seen drag racing a solid gold M5. No, really. Full video and poll after the jump.
The strangest part is that, according to reports, this is actually the same Mercedes SLR McLaren that was previously spied in Dubai with a silver-chrome treatment. We're not sure about the accuracy of this model considering it has a different rear spoiler, different wheels (which have also been gold-chromed) and darker taillight frame like those on later versions of the Anglo-Saxon supercar, not to mention a different license plate... although the car also reportedly belongs to the owner of a UAE license plate registry, so anything's possible.

The sad reality is that someone, whether it's the same guy or not, looked at a chromed McMerc and thought, Yeah, but what if it were plated in gold? Sure makes the gold-plated Veyron and Phantom DHC sent to the same region seem like the epitome of good taste.

[Source: GTSpirit.com]
The Golden Arches: Gilded McMerc spotted in - you guessed it - Dubai originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 16 Apr 2009 08:31:00 EST.
Visitors to Wolfsburg, Germany are in for a treat. The Lower Saxony city is home to Volkswagen, and in 2000 the auto giant built a veritable automotive theme park there to rival anything from California to the Persian Gulf. Called Autostadt (German for "car city"), the site attracts some two million visitors each year. The park holds several world records; serves as an accredited source of extra-curricular education; and encompasses a customer center, factory tour, test track, movie theater and various pavilions showcasing Volkswagen's history, production techniques and numerous subsidiaries.

The latest pavilion to open at Autostadt is the "Premium Clubhouse" in which this mirror-finish Bugatti Veyron stands as a center-piece. Chromed way beyond the level of other shiny superlikes, like the chromed Ferrari 599, McLaren's grand prix car, the chrome SLR or even Bugatti's own Pur Sang edition, the reflective Veyron sits in a mirrored room designed to blur the line between the observer and the observed as visitors see their reflection repeated infinitely in the space around them. Sounds like a real trip to make the actual trip worthwhile.

When supersonic wasn't enough, we got "hypersonic." When luxury wasn't enough, we got "ultra-luxury." If we aren't there yet, we will soon come to a time when "bling" is not enough. The first candidate for what we will call "superbling" is STRUT's line of automotive jewelry.

With offerings aimed at the Unique Whip and 300C-to-Bentley set, STRUT creates a high-end line of accessories. Triple-chromed stainless steel, crimped mesh, polished surrounds, engraved shields, and the requisite enormous wheels mix and mingle with the most expensive car bodies in the world. Its new Knightsbridge Collection has been created for the Phantom, with a delicate, polished link grill, chrome-tipped exhaust, side vents, and STRUT badges everywhere. What will it cost you to strut like that? Twenty-five thousand British pounds sterling. They don't call it strutting for nothing. If you'd like to shuffle for a bit longer instead, we will understand.
