He wanted to show us the bed, which was filled with DeWalt tools and Ford's new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-ford-introduces-work-solutions-in-dash-computer-pa/">Tool Link system</a> for keeping track of one's tools. The purpose of our visit was not Ford's new fancy in-dash computer for the commercial sector, but rather the spray-in bed liner that the truck was sporting. Called Tough Bed, Ford will soon become the second manufacturer to offer a spray-in bedliner behind Nissan, which began offering its Durabed spray-in bed liner on the 2004 Titan. Ford's Tough Bed will be an alternative to drop-in bed liners, which, while popular, can be susceptible to rusting the bed if water gets between them and the truck's metal. Ford's spray-in liner, meanwhile, is applied by robots at the factory and covered under the truck's three-year or 36,000-mile warranty. Head over to <a href="http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/news/ford/superduty/liner/page1.html">Pickuptruck.com</a> to see Levine's detailed comparison between Ford's factory offering and a popular third-party spray-in liner called LINE-X. Honestly, we wonder what's taken the OEMs this long to offer optional spray-in bed liners, but now that Ford and Nissan are both doing it, don't be surprised if GM, Chrysler and Toyota follow suit quickly.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/news/ford/superduty/liner/page1.html">Pickuptruck.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/20/ford-to-offer-tough-bed-factory-backed-spray-in-bed-liner/">Ford to offer "Tough Bed" factory-backed spray-in bed liner</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 20 Feb 2008 14:58:00 EST. Still, it appears as though it's taken a giant leap back three decades with the new Class 8 International LoneStar. International said its mission was to create a big rig that married aerodynamic efficiency with a unique look and a wide range of customization. Having asked truckers what they wanted, apparently customization means 'more <strike>cowbell</strike> lights and chrome.' As upright and retro Lite Brite as the design might be, it still gets gas mileage as good as the best aerodynamic semis on the market, according to International. <br /><br />Inside, the cabin evokes the kind of ergonomic class that could have been meant for the outside -- the sleeper has hardwood flooring for that at-home feeling. The truck comes with 42 factory options, 23 inside, 19 outside, and International itself said it wants to create the same kind of aftermarket following that MINI and Harley currently enjoy. If nothing else, the LoneStar is a rig more than worthy of <a href="http://beta.rottentomatoes.com/m/spaceballs/">Lone Starr</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/international-lonestar/low/">International LoneStar</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/international-lonestar/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0000lonestar_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/international-lonestar/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0001lonestar_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/international-lonestar/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0002lonestar_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/international-lonestar/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0003lonestar_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/international-lonestar/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0004lonestar_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/chicago-2008-international-introduces-the-lonestar-class-8-big/">Chicago 2008: International introduces the LoneStar Class 8 big rig</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 13:35:00 EST. The new uninterrupted grille might look better than the prior split version, but it still doesn't seem to work as well as the nose on the EVO or new Eclipse. Out back, however, the new Lancer-inspired taillights and slightly reshaped fenders are a big improvement.<br /><br />As we recently reported when the info was dropped in our laps a few days ago, the 2009 Mitsubish Galant will be offered in four versions: the top-shelf Ralliart model (red car in pics), V6 Sport, four-cylinder Sport edition and the four-cylinder ES (gray). The Ralliart is still powered by a 3.8L MIVEC V6 producing 258 horsepower and uses a 5-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. The Galant V6 Sport gets a 230-hp 3.8L V6, while the two remaining models are powered by a 160-hp 2.4L MIVEC four-cylinder. The V6 models get a 5-speed Sportronic automatic, while the four-cylinders make do with four-speeds. The two Sport models (both V6 and four-cylinder versions) also feature a power glass sunroof and heated cloth front seats as standard equipment. A ho-hum enhancement for a model that never caught on after its last redesign, we think Mitsubishi missed the target on this one. <br /><br />Check out Mitsu's full press release after the jump, and the new live pics in our gallery below.<br /> <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mitsubishi-galant/low/">2009 Mitsubishi Galant</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mitsubishi-galant/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0000galant2_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mitsubishi-galant/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0001galant2_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mitsubishi-galant/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0002galant2_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mitsubishi-galant/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0003galant2_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mitsubishi-galant/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0004galant2_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/chicago-2008-reskinned-2009-mitsubishi-galant-seen-with-new-nos/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: Reskinned 2009 Mitsubishi Galant seen with new nose</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/chicago-2008-reskinned-2009-mitsubishi-galant-seen-with-new-nos/">Chicago 2008: Reskinned 2009 Mitsubishi Galant seen with new nose</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 12:29:00 EST. The nose in particular brings the Eclipse in line with the design theme spreading across the rest of Mitsubishi's model line. If you happen to have a slight sense of deja vu while looking at it, more than one of us has also noticed that the new schnoz bears more than a passing resemblance to the Nissan GT-R, as well. And lest you think the changes are all skin deep, there are several non-cosmetic updates to augment the rhinoplasty. The GT models sport a newly tuned dual exhaust that promises to not only sound better, but boost horsepower by a deuce as well, bringing the total from 263 to 265. On the inside, power comes via a new 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system as part of the optional Sun &amp; Sound Package on GS and GT models, as well. Perhaps we were already focused on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-ford-introduces-work-solutions-in-dash-computer-pa/">Ford's Work Solutions</a> trucks in the vicinity, but this insane beast just put our DSLRs on autopilot. The F-650-based XUV was built by Alton Manufacturing and carries a GVWR of 25,999 lbs. That makes the 660 ft-lbs of torque generated by its 7.2L Caterpillar engine seem paltry. Besides the big-rig-meets-Excursion bodywork, your nearly $200,000 expenditure for this XUV will get you hardwood floors, custom captains chairs, a 42-speaker sound system, two drop-down 16-inch TVs plus a 42-inch plasma, four computer workstations, plus a train horn. Oh, you'll also get bragging rights for the biggest, baddest truck in 99% of the world's neighborhoods.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/low/">Alton Mfg F-650 XUV</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/alton-mfg-f-650-xuv/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/altonf650xuv---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/chicago-2008-alton-f-650-xuv-makes-a-big-statement/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: Alton F-650 XUV makes a big statement</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/chicago-2008-alton-f-650-xuv-makes-a-big-statement/">Chicago 2008: Alton F-650 XUV makes a big statement</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 10:01:00 EST. <p>Last year, we were surprised by Motor Week's choice for its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/07/chicago-auto-show-motorweek-drivers-choice-awards/">2007 "Best Of The Year"</a> , the Honda Fit. This year, we were simply shocked that its choice for 2008 is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/23/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-scion-xb/">Scion xB</a>. It's not that the xB is a bad car, it's that there are so many better choices. In fact, peruse the list below of winners in other categories. Almost any of the other cars on the list would be a better choice, save for the Sebring Convertible and possibly the minivans. Lexus makes fine vehicles, but its LS 600h L does not belong on a "Best Dream Machine" list. </p>
<ul>
    <li>Best Small Car - Scion xB</li>
    <li>Best Family Sedan - Honda Accord</li>
    <li>Best Minivan - Dodge Grand Caravan/Chrysler Town &amp; Country</li>
    <li>Best Convertible - Chrysler Sebring Convertible</li>
    <li>Best Luxury Sedan - Mercedes-Benz C-Class</li>
    <li>Best Sport Sedan - Cadillac CTS</li>
    <li>Best Sport Coupe - Infiniti G37</li>
    <li>Best Performance Car - Volkswagen R32</li>
    <li>Best Small Utility - Nissan Rogue</li>
    <li>Best Large Utility - Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon</li>
    <li>Best Crossover Utility - Buick Enclave/GMC Acadia/Saturn Outlook</li>
    <li>Best Pickup Truck - Ford F-Series Super Duty</li>
    <li>Best Eco-Friendly - Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid/GMC Yukon Hybrid</li>
    <li>Best Dream Machine - Audi R8/Bentley Continental GT Speed/Lexus LS 600h L</li>
</ul>
<p>We can agree with a few of the choices, like the Audi R8, the Cadillac CTS and even the R32, although the new Evolution or STi might have been a better choice. These types of lists are never easy, but MotorWeek seems to have gone out of its way to make this one irrelevant.</p>

<p>If you saw <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/01/chicago-preview-scion-tc-series-4-0/">our preview</a> of the Scion tC Release 4.0 and want more, you're in luck 'cause we've spotted it here in Chicago. We already knew pretty much all there was to know about the machine, including the DAMD body kit and Galactic Gray Mica paint. As is often the case, though, live photos seem to show more detail than official pics from the manufacturer, so be sure to check out our live photos in the gallery below. If you like what you see, perhaps you should act fast, only 2,300 of the 4.0s are going to be built. We're sure that Scion will sell all of them, but we think the tC is in need of a bit more freshening than this version 4.0 offers.</p>

<p>The Lexus ES 350 is the second model this year to get the Pebble Beach Special Edition treatment, along with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-the-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/">Lexus RX 350</a>. Both of them join Lexus' Pebble Beach regular, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/16/another-year-another-pebble-beach-lexus-sc-430/">Lexus SC 430</a>, in the bespoke-paint-and-packages options. We don't mind the 17-inch wheels with the liquid graphite finish one bit. <p>The word "urban" seems to be taking on more meanings every day. In its latest use, Toyota has applied it to a truck kitted out for something more like the Amazon rather than "urban" civilization. Starting with a Sport Edition 4Runner, the Urban Edition gets a new audio system, a Tom Tom GPS system, Alcantara seats, and some nicely finished side steps and roof rails in black. If you have some dosh left over, you can add the Urban Edition value pack that throws in a double-decker cargo system and net, a moonroof, HomeLink, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Underneath, the SUV rides on an X-REAS sport enhancement suspension that's meant to improve on-road handling and performance, hence the "Urban Runner" moniker, though all of Toyota's official images show the SUV <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-toyota-4runner-with-urban-runner-package/627811/">trudging through the snow</a>. To properly battle the best competition in ALMS, BMW bumps the power quotient of its high-revving 4.0L V8 from 414 to 485 ponies, but brute force is just one facet of the M3's attack plan. The already outstanding chassis of the M3 has been further enhanced for the track, and weight has been reduced to make the deadly M even more nimble.<br /><br />BMW also employed its extensive F1 knowledge into the M-racer, including computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel analyses to make the carbon fiber-winged M3 slip freely through the air. BMW Motorsport is still tweaking the M3 racer in advance of the 2009 season, and the car will be taken through its paces by Andy Priaulx, Jorg Muller and Augusto Farfus of FIA World Touring Car Championship fame. Since the previous two generations of M3 hold six manufacturers championships in nine years of US sports car racing, we're guessing this baddest M3 ever will continue to be a handful for the competition. If it drives as well as it looks, Mr. Rahal should be a happy man.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rahal-letterman-racing-bmw-rahal-letterman-racing-m3-alms-car/low/">BMW Rahal Letterman Racing M3 ALMS car</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rahal-letterman-racing-bmw-rahal-letterman-racing-m3-alms-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/000000bmw_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rahal-letterman-racing-bmw-rahal-letterman-racing-m3-alms-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/000001bmw_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rahal-letterman-racing-bmw-rahal-letterman-racing-m3-alms-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/000002bmw_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rahal-letterman-racing-bmw-rahal-letterman-racing-m3-alms-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/000003bmw_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rahal-letterman-racing-bmw-rahal-letterman-racing-m3-alms-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/000004bmw_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-bmw-back-in-alms-with-rahal-letterman-racing-m3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: BMW back in ALMS with Rahal Letterman Racing M3 [w/VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-bmw-back-in-alms-with-rahal-letterman-racing-m3/">Chicago 2008: BMW back in ALMS with Rahal Letterman Racing M3 [w/VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 17:59:00 EST. <p>While the official unveiling of the 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring took place <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/23/hyundai-elantra-touring-unveiled-in-montreal/">in Montreal</a> a few weeks back, the Chicago Auto Show is the first place that we at Autoblog got a chance to eyeball it in person, and we like what we see. While we'd certainly not classify the Elantra Touring as a "hot hatch," fuel efficiency is becoming an increasingly larger concern for many buyers. As a result, sporty little cars like the Elantra Touring will likely become increasingly relevant. The fact that the car is also a wagon adds plenty of usefulness for everyday driving needs. This version of the Elantra is sold as the i30 outside the U.S. and we welcome its arrival, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/02/happy-new-year-saturn-astra-goes-on-sale-jan-2nd/">joining the Saturn Astra</a> as a Euro-designed five-door recently <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/18/lutz-says-importing-astra-saved-900-million/">making its way here</a>. Like the Astra, the Elantra Touring offers your choice of either a four-speed automatic or a more desirable five-speed manual, featuring a B&amp;M shifter.</p>
<p>Premium options include seventeen inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a power sunroof, but standard gear is pretty good with power windows, remote keyless entry, eight-way adjustable driver's seat, heated mirrors and a stereo equipped with an auxiliary jack and standard XM radio. Also included are safety features such as Electronic Stability Control, ABS and Electronic Brake-Force Distribution. Like other Hyundais, this one comes equipped well and should be priced very competitively against its competition.</p>

<p>Lexus showed up in Chicago with two special edition cars from a different time in a different state. Lexus has been making limited edition vehicles for the Pebble Beach glitterati since 2003, which up to now has always been a Lexus SC 430 unveiled at the concours' Vogue fashion show. This year marks the first time the line has expanded beyond the hardtop coupe, and the RX 350 gets its chance to try on a swanky paint job and some of them there special features. In case you're wondering what color that is, it's Truffle Mica -- but it comes in two others, in case speckly fungus isn't exactly your flavor. Buyers will even get to choose from three packages that come with the special edition -- which would make them even more special. But we won't spoil the surprise -- the full press release is after the jump, and check out the gallery of hi-res photos below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/low/">Chicago 2008: Lexus RX 350 Pebble Beach Edition</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/rx350pbe008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/rx350pbe01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/rx350pbe02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/rx350pbe03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/rx350pbe04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-the-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: the Lexus RX 350 Pebble Beach Edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-the-lexus-rx-350-pebble-beach-edition/">Chicago 2008: the Lexus RX 350 Pebble Beach Edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 17:28:00 EST. Something about the orange 3.2 Turbo model rang a bell and we recalled that soggy day last June when we saw it in the pits at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/23/2007-goodwood-festival-of-speed-the-supercars/">Goodwood</a>. The YES! reps confirmed that we had indeed seen a Roadster at the Festival of Speed, shortly after it had been introduced as the replacement for the previous 1.8 model. The vehicles YES! is showing here in Chicago are the second generation Roadsters, in turbo and NA form. Now, lest you think these guys are bad at math, that 3.2 actually refers to the 3.2L V6 residing in the boot. Funke &amp; Will AG, the folks behind YES!, have done a lot of development work on the car and now even offer it with an optional hard top for cold climates. But it's not really about the hardtop.<br /><br />Fitted with the base 255HP version of the VW-sourced mill, this one-ton sportscar can hit 60 from a standstill in just 4.8 seconds. Think of it as a German built Lotus Elise S. And If that's not enough for you, they can slap a turbo on it for you so you can see how 355HP suits your needs. That will drop the 0-60 sprint below four seconds, but it can still be bettered by checking a few more boxes and opting for the full-tilt boogie 415HP version, said to be good for about 200MPH given enough track. If that sounds like your kind of thing and you like the way the YES! looks in the pics, know that the company would be more than happy to take your $77,995 for a base 3.2. The Turbo brings the base price to $97,995, and going for the 415 horse option will set you back an additional $7,995 on top of that. Gulp. Certainly a lot of coin, but for something that looks to be the wild love child of a Spyker and a Lotus, we're pretty sure they'll find at least a few takers Stateside.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">The full press release and a video are posted after the jump.</span><br /><br />[Source: Yes!]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster-2/low/">YES! 3.2 Roadster live</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/yes32roadster---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/yes32roadster---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/yes32roadster---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/yes32roadster---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/yes32roadster---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster/low/">YES! 3.2 Roadster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/yes_32_roadster_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/yes_32_roadster_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/yes_32_roadster_07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/yes_32_roadster_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/yes-3-2-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/yes_32_roadster_08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-yes-oh-yes-thats-one-beautiful-roadster/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: Yes, oh YES! <p> </p>
<p>When Hyundai released its 2007 Sonata, the automaker served notice that it was serious about playing with the "big boys" in the midsize sedan market; namely the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima and, just recently, the latest version of the Chevy Malibu. With <span style="text-decoration: underline;">its</span><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/03/chicago-08-preview-2009-hyundai-sonata/"> refresh</a> of the Sonata for 2009, Hyundai has taken another major leap towards matching the best that Japan has to offer. Many consider the Camry too boring while others find the Accord a bit too sporty for their tastes. Hyundai is aiming at the middle ground with the '09 Sonata, and based on looks alone it seems that the company is on target. The interior especially looks ready to compete in the most hotly-contested segment in the industry, with quality materials and a much more pleasing design with more features than the current model. </p>
<p>Added power and efficiency have been gained in both four-cylinder and six-cylinder versions. Using the second generation Theta engine architecture, the 175-horse 2.4-liter inline-four is a vast improvement over its predecessor, especially since a new five-speed automatic replaces the old four-speed unit. Drivers who prefer a bit more power can opt for the newly updated 3.3-liter Lambda V6, now boasting 249 horsepower while still offering a slight increase in fuel economy. The Lambda V6 is available only with the five-speed automatic while four-cylinder buyers can choose between the automatic or a five-speed manual. We are still waiting for official pricing information, but expect the Sonata to continue to undercut the Accord and Camry.</p>

The Denali is the first U.S. example of the "Ute" car-based pickup that's built on the rear-wheel-drive Zeta platform. In this case, the Denali is a four-door pickup using the same rear-wheel-drive architecture as the Holden Commodore/Pontiac G8. It was even designed down under at GM's Australian design studios. Unlike the RWD sedans with which it shares a platform, the Denali has the first example of a flex-fuel engine combined with GM's two-mode hybrid system. The flex-fuel V8 is 4.9L in displacement and has direct fuel injection to maximize both power and fuel economy. According to GM, it expects the powertrain to produce 325 hp and have a 50% boost in fuel efficiency compared to a conventional V8. So far there is no indication of whether on not GMC will offer a production version of the Denali XT, but the powertrain will almost certainly appear in future GM products.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-reveal/low/">Chicago 2008: GMC Denali XT concept reveal</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/00000denali_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/00001denali_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/00002denali_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/00003denali_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/00004denali_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-is-ute-ifu/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: GMC Denali XT Concept is ute-iful</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-gmc-denali-xt-concept-is-ute-ifu/">Chicago 2008: GMC Denali XT Concept is ute-iful</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 16:06:00 EST. Would it be too linear a thought process to expect that a vehicle with a "sport" designation would be, you know, sporty? The idea behind the Edge Sport is to create a tuner package with factory-backed quality levels. Check out the live shots and you'll see that the already well-trimmed interior gets an extra level of attention, and the bodykit applied to the outside is tasteful. New paint colors are Sport-exclusive, as are smoked lenses on the lights. The biggest feature that Ford is touting are the monstrous wheels wrapped in low-profile rubber. The standard 20-inchers are enough to give the brake rotors an inferiority complex as they appear hardly larger than the wheel hubs. If you need an even harsher ride and more clearance around those anti-massive brakes, you can upgrade to 22s. Wheel size to brake rotor diameter shenanigans aside, we like the Edge Sport. We'd find it sporty if it came with the EcoBoost powertrain, but as it stands, it's more like the Edge Spiffy.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-2009-ford-edge-sportxx/low/">2009 Ford Edge Sport</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-2009-ford-edge-sportxx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0000edgesport_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-2009-ford-edge-sportxx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0001edgesport_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-2009-ford-edge-sportxx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0002edgesport_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-2009-ford-edge-sportxx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0003edgesport_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-2009-ford-edge-sportxx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0004edgesport_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-ford-edge-sport-saunters-into-chi-town/">Chicago 2008: Ford Edge Sport saunters into Chi-town</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 15:38:00 EST. While the rest of the crowd at GM's press conference had their focus set on the unveiling of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-chevy-unveils-2009-traverse-w-video/">2009 Chevy Traverse</a>, the 2009 HUMMER H3T sat in the corner, all but ignored by camera-toting journos. We, however, know a good thing when we see it (though many of you might disagree). And considering how the H3T is sporting an elongated wheelbase and a five-foot long bed, it remains one of a few significant unveilings here in Chi-town.<br /><br />Just as a refresher, the H3T gets power from either the anemic 3.7-liter five-cylinder mill we've come to know and loathe or a 5.3-liter V8 when equipped in the top-level Alpha trim. Towing capacity is 5,900 pounds, which should be plenty for a family of four with dirt bikes in tow.<br /><br />Check out our high-res gallery of live and press shots below and head on over to our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/chicago-08-preview-2009-hummer-h3t/">original post</a> for all the details on the new HUMMER H3T.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/">2008 Chicago: 2009 HUMMER H3T live</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chicago-2009-hummer-h3t-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/08chi_h3t5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/">2009 HUMMER H3T</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000009hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000109hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000209hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000309hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-hummer-h3t-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/000409hummerh3ta_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-hummer-h3t-makes-unceremonious-debut/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: HUMMER H3T makes unceremonious debut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-hummer-h3t-makes-unceremonious-debut/">Chicago 2008: HUMMER H3T makes unceremonious debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 15:15:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/29/chicago-08-preview-official-rendering-of-suzuki-equator-releas/">Suzuki Equator</a> is set to go into production by the end of this year and should deliver a decent truck experience, seeing as how it is based on the already proven Frontier and will be built alongside it in Smyrna, Tennessee. Acknowledging that many people will probably be asking themselves, "Why a truck and why now?" Brown shared that trucks are not dead, despite rumors to the contrary. He also explained that most Americans think of motorcycles when they think of Suzuki. And with more than a million bikes sold over the past five years, that makes a pretty sizable market for customers who might like a truck with a matching badge. But thinking a little beyond just motorcycle owners, Suzuki developed three different concepts that represent a truck that matches the capability of an RMZ-4 sport bike, another that captures the backwoods spirit of a Quad, and a third that would make a great boat towing vehicle down at the Quay. And so it was also fitting that the three concepts were called the RMZ-4, Quad and Quay.<br /> <br /> The truck actually looked fairly handsome in all three forms, but the black Quay (shown) really looked rather classy. While the RMZ-4 and Quad featured some concept-like styling add-ons, the Quay looked completely ready for prime time. The Equator will come with a choice of a 152-hp inline-four or an optional 4.0L DOHC V6 delivering 261 hp and 281 lb.-ft. of torque. Those will be matched to the buyer's choice of a five-speed automatic, a five-speed stick for the I4 or six-speed manual with the V6. You can read the rest of the details after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-equator-4/low/">Suzuki Equator</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-equator-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0000equator_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-equator-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0001equator_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-equator-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0002equator_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-equator-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0003equator_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-equator-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/0004equator_chi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-suzuki-equator-ready-to-tackle-new-frontiers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago 2008: Suzuki Equator ready to tackle new frontiers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-suzuki-equator-ready-to-tackle-new-frontiers/">Chicago 2008: Suzuki Equator ready to tackle new frontiers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 14:46:00 EST. <p><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="0" align="left" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/abg_video_badge.gif" alt="" />Fumbling out of the "why bother" category here at the Chicago Auto Show is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/05/chicago-2008-preview-volkswagen-routan-leaks-out/">2009 Volkswagen Routan</a>, which is their new minivan based on the Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Caravan platform. Oddly, Volkswagen opened up its presentation by showing pics and videos of its classic vehicles, such as the old Beetle and the old-style rear-engined vans. What's odd is that those classics share absolutely no heritage with the new Chrysler minivan-based Routan. Why conjure up favorable memories of the old VW van before letting us down with this new one? <br /></p>
<p>Moving on to better things, the new van does have a pretty attractive face, more attractive than the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country, at least. Standard features are many, including traction and stability controls, a 6-speed automatic transmission and Chrysler's 3.8L V6, though a 4.0L V6 producing 251 hp is also available. The interior is nicer in the Routan than in its Chrysler counterparts, though that's not necessarily saying much. We'll reserve final judgment until we get a chance to live with it, though. <br /></p>
<p>Volkswagen believes that it has struck a better ride and handling compromise on the Routan than Chrysler was able to achieve with either of its vans, which is a bit like biting the hands that feeds you. Nothing on the Routan is all that bad, so we think that any potential minivan customer will consider it. What it will cost is unknown, but VW said the Routan will start around $25,000. We still question whether this is the best that Volkswagen could do with such a great history of vans to draw upon. As we see it, all this vehicle does is give VW dealers a vehicle to sell to large families.<br /></p>

It was presented by Jim Press, who even made a Prius joke before launching into a passionate pitch for the orange-and-black-striped car. And even though you're drowning in info on a car you still can't buy, there were some specifics added: 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and a 170-MPH top speed; the quarter mile goes by in 13.9 seconds; 4-pot Brembo brakes go on 14.2-inch rotors up front and 13.8-inch rotors in back, and will stop you from 60 in 110 feet; performance and braking together adds up to 0-100-0 in 16.5 seconds; and the skidpad number: 0.9 g's.

<p>So how's it really look? Just as good as in the photos. Better even. The lines are so simple that you realize you haven't missed anything when you get up next to it. As for the orange and striped car, however, when a black <em>and</em> a silver one showed up with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chicago-2008-2008-dodge-challenger-srt8-live-reveal/626671/">guys from Orange County Choppers</a>... well, sign us up for the black.</p>
