The vehicle they chose: the Chevrolet Cavalier. They even called it the Toyota Cavalier, and wanted to move 20,000 of them per year in Japan. They put them in dealer showrooms next to JDM cars, and, well... people didn't really buy them. By 2000, the Toyota Cavalier was mort.

And while their loss is not exactly your gain, it might mean you can have some fun with rabbits and hats. GM made Toyota Cavalier parts, including Toyota badges, for the car, and has boxes of the stuff at its warehouse in Lansing, Michigan. If you can get a parts manager to fulfill your order -- overseas-only parts are normally red-flagged for U.S. domestic use due to DOT issues -- then you can get a Toyota badge wrapped in official GM packaging. Cue the Ripley's Believe It or Not theme music...

[Source: Automobile]
Buy Toyota badges... from GM originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 09 Jul 2008 13:01:00 EST. We've all expressed our opinion of the young man's choice, though we're prepared to let it drop since he's expressed many times on the J-body forum that's he happy with the result. Fair enough, but we're beginning to suspect that the new car smell in late-model J-bodies is actually a highly addictive airborne chemical that makes owners do crazy things for their Cavaliers.

A gentleman was referred to a few times in the tattoo thread that commissioned a custom pair of Cavalier Z24 sneakers, and he got in touch with us to show off his kicks on Autoblog. He tells us these one-of-a-kind Reeboks aren't daily drivers, just for car shows and meet ups where displaying pride in your ride is socially acceptable. And at the end of the day, at least he can take his shoes off and put them back in the closet.

[Source: CarDomain.com]

Gallery: Custom Cavalier Z24 sneakers

Another tale of Cavalier love gone too far originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 29 Jan 2007 17:33:00 EST. Reading through this forum post's comments proves this is a real tat, forever scorched with vivid Technicolor into the arm of this young man, known as zsquee24, who loves his slightly modded J-Body Cavalier a bit too much. About the odd location, the owner says, "I wanted it on my forearm so if anyone pisses me off, I can hit them with my car and not get vehiclular assault." Classy, and smart, too.

Of course, the owner's friends in the J-body.com forums have been vigorously debating whether their friend is a total idiot or if everyone should just live and let live. Some of their comments, however, had us rolling on the floor laughing.

"I would have gotten it on a hoodie or something. Cheaper and not soo permanate."

"oh my word. how are you going to explain that when you are 40?"

"What could be cooler, than a cavalier with hair growing out of it!"

"You realize you will never ....EVER....get laid again..."

"First the Z24 shoes, now this....you really kicked it up a notch."

[Source: J-Body.org]
Cavalier love gone too far? originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 26 Jan 2007 19:41:00 EST.
