The Catavolt team has been developing its unique electric motorcycle drivetrain whilst duking it out on racetracks Down Under in the eFX/TTXGP championship for the past couple years. Now, they are bringing the battle to the Australian streets, announcing that the first Catavolt S6 street bike has found a home.
In a drama-filled race that saw certain electric motorcycles hitting speeds of 165 miles per hour on the demanding Daytona International Speedway, Steve Atlas was first to pass by the checkered flag, giving Team Icon Brammo the win in the 2012 TTXGP World Championship. The previous two season-topping events had been won by Münch Racing.
Daytona is a noisy place this weekend, with Biketoberfest happening concurrently with the Fall Cycle Scene. The streets echo with the potato-potato sounds of thousands of Harley Davidson cruisers, whilst inside the Daytona International Speedway, the air is filled with the screams of a few dozen assorted racing bikes.
The TTXGP North America and Australian series finished up last weekend with Team Icon Brammo riders winning both the race and the championship in the northern hemisphere, and Team Catavolt grabbing the glory Down Under.
Australia's Team Catavolt have lofted their slouch hats into the eFX / TTXGP electric motorcycle road racing ring in an intriguing announcement. Not only is the move a radical change from their usual land-speed-records-on-salt-flats activity, the EnerTrac Corp. motor for this new racing machine is somewhat radically located in the hub of the back wheel.
