<br />
Exact details are few and far between, but for those that value handling over tire-smoking <em>POWA</em>, this is great news. <em><a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/Mercedes-Benz-E-Class/242103/">Autocar</a> </em>is reporting that the next AMG-fettled <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/06/first-drive-2010-mercedes-benz-e-class-coupe/">Mercedes-Benz E-Class </a>will rely on weight-saving materials and techniques, as well as fine-tuning of suspension pieces to increase agility. You know, as opposed to the regular AMG way of doing things, which is lobbing yet another salvo into the breach of the sky's no-limit horsepower war. The next AMG E-Class Coupe will actually be a Black Series model, meaning that not only will there be no "regular" AMG E-Class Coupe (for now), but you really ought to start saving your pennies now. Err, saving your bundles of Grants and Franklins.<br />
<br />
According to <em>Autocar</em>, there's also not going to be any Black Series C-Series cars because the limited edition AMGs must be based on two-door models (though we'll see how long that actually lasts). There will, however, be a new C63 - and unlike the upcoming Black Series E-Class Coupe, there will be better driving through more power. The current C63 is AMG's weakest offering with "only" 453 horsepower on tap. The new version will belch thrust to the tune of 500 to 525 ponies. <em>Phew</em>, we were worried there for a moment that AMG had lost its <em>power uber all</em> mind. One last thing: even though it will fit, there's no plan to use the highly lauded seven-speed dual-clutch Speedshift transmission from the E63 and SL63 in the C63. Pity.<br />

<div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the gold C63</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />This United Arab Emirates-registered gold-mirror-finish <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/">Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG</a> was caught at the Bling on Wheels Show, otherwise known as the valet area at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. While we have nothing untoward to say about someone who decks out his/her ride in any manner desired, we are always intrigued when someone looks to have spent the worth of a car - on top of the price of the car itself - on "beautification."<br /><br />There is some debate as to whether this is a real paint job or a wrap, but parking your gold-wrapped C63 next to a genuinely <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/22/mcbling-chrome-slr-holds-food-court-in-dubai/">chrome SLR</a> would be shamefully ludicrous. A C63 AMG goes for about 300,000 AED (about $82,000 USD). Unless gold paint bubbles out of the ground as well, a liquid gold paint job has to cost a good portion of that. And all for a C63? Really? We won't ask whether it looks good... we'll just guide you to the gallery of high-res images below. <em>Hat tip to AB reader Chad</em>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-c63-in-dubai-gold/low/">Mercedes C63 in Dubai Gold</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-c63-in-dubai-gold/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/01_merc_gold_c63moe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-c63-in-dubai-gold/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/02_merc_gold_c63moe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-c63-in-dubai-gold/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/03_merc_gold_c63moe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-c63-in-dubai-gold/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/04_merc_gold_c63moe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-c63-in-dubai-gold/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/05_merc_gold_c63moe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w204/276834-chrome-c63-pics.html">MB World</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/23/gold-fingers-mercedes-c63-spotted-in-where-else-dubai/">Gold(finger's) Mercedes C63 spotted in... where else? <br />After what we're sure are thousands of miles driven and some undoubtedly heated round table debates, Automobile Magazine has chosen its 2009 All-Stars. The ten winners were chosen based upon attributes that include design, driving enjoyment, performance and value, with vehicles taken from a wide range of segments. This year's winners range from the econobox <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/20/ab-first-drive-2009-honda-fit-sport/">Honda Fit</a> to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/05/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-audi-r8/">Audi R8</a>, with the spaciously rectilinear <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/17/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-ford-flex-limited-w-video/">Ford Flex</a> somewhere in between. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/31/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-chevrolet-malibu-lt/">Chevrolet Malibu</a> was one of four vehicles to make the list for the second straight year, joined by the Corvette (this year in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/19/autoblog-first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/">ZR1</a> trim), <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/28/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-4-door-vw-gti/">Volkswagen GTI</a> and the trophy darling <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/26/in-the-autoblog-garage-bmw-335i-convertible/">BMW 3-Series</a>. With it's nod from Automobile, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/05/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-jaguar-xf-supercharged/">Jaguar's XF</a> continues to bring home <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/21/car-and-driver-announces-10-best-no-gt-r-to-be-found/">the hardware</a>, with one tester calling it the best Jaguar sedan he's ever driven (not a stretch in our book). Other winners included the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/20/first-drive-2009-porsche-911-carrera-s-with-pdk/">Porsche 911</a> and the stonking <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/">Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG</a>. <br /><br />Just like with Car and Driver's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/21/car-and-driver-announces-10-best-no-gt-r-to-be-found/">10 Best</a> list, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/04/first-drive-2009-nissan-gt-r/">Nissan GT-R</a> didn't make Automobile's All-Stars team - an interesting ommission considering that it was recently crowned their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/11/nissan-gt-r-named-car-of-the-year-by-automobile-mag/">Automobile of the Year</a>. (Note: no price cap got in the way of victory this time). In fact, the only Japanese model to make the cut was the Fit, while the Germans took home five spots. In all, we'd call the All-Stars a solid list, but we're more interested in hearing what you think. What's missing and what vehicle(s) need the boot?<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1/low/">2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/x09ch_cr119_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/x09ch_cr121_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/x09ch_cr120_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/x09ch_cr122_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/x09ch_cr003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/news/Stock%20News/2083363/">Trading Markets</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/17/automobile-magazine-announces-2009-all-stars/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Automobile Magazine Announces 2009 All-Stars</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/17/automobile-magazine-announces-2009-all-stars/">Automobile Magazine Announces 2009 All-Stars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 17 Dec 2008 11:59:00 EST. <p>There's no shortage of Mercedes-Benz tuners, and we're used to having news tips in our email box regarding BRABUS, Kleemann, Lorinser, Carlsson, etc. That's why we were curious when we received a tip about a company taht we'd never heard of called V&auml;th. The German aftermarket company has products for the entire Mercedes-Benz lineup, the latest of which is the V63RS Clubsport based on the C63 AMG that you see here. V&auml;th essentially leaves the exterior untouched and focuses on the performance including an upgrade of the V8 to 585 bhp and 509 lb-ft torque that will power the car to a top speed of 202 mph. Other upgrades available include a sport suspension, high performance brakes, 19-inch wheels, and sport seats. Complete cars are available at a hefty 125,000 Euros, although components can be purchased individually, as well. Just like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/11/brabus-prices-the-bullit-black-arrow-aka-twin-turbo-v12-c-class/">BRABUS Bullit Black Arrow</a> we showed yesterday, black seems to be the color of choice. </p>

To help keep the stock 457 hp, 6.2-liter V8 from running too hot while trying to avoid a DTM car-shaped enema, the radiator has been upgraded, along with a larger transmission oil cooler and two engine oil coolers mounted behind the front bumper's large air dams. Additionally, the rear axle cooling fins have been optimized to provide better airflow and benefits from a remote oil cooler. <br /><br />The AMG C63 DTM safety car will make its official debut this weekend at the second race of the season in Oschersleben, Germany.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Hit the jump for the full press release.</span><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c63-amg-dtm-safety-car/low/">Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG DTM Safety Car</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c63-amg-dtm-safety-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/640402_1146754_3543_2362_08c357_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c63-amg-dtm-safety-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/640403_1146757_1200_800_08c357_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c63-amg-dtm-safety-car/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/640404_1146760_3543_2362_08c357_08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/18/mercedes-offers-up-c63-amg-as-official-safety-car-of-dtm/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mercedes offers up C63 AMG as Official Safety Car of DTM</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/18/mercedes-offers-up-c63-amg-as-official-safety-car-of-dtm/">Mercedes offers up C63 AMG as Official Safety Car of DTM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 18 Apr 2008 12:58:00 EST. There's also the Stig, a Stig-ette in a white bikini and helmet, Clarkson dining on an apple run over at the apex of a turn, a measurement device that we can't mention here, and lots of unkind things said of M3 drivers. But it's just in time for Christmas, and it's in three parts, which means you can make <span style="font-style: italic;">Top Gear</span> Christmas cheer can last all day. The hotrod sport sedan from the Stuttgart is the three-pointed star's eight-cylinder answer to the Audi RS4 and BMW M3, and Benz's stubborn obsession with the torque converter aside, it presents a compelling case for those on the market for a big ferocious 451-hp 6.3L V8 in a small German package.<br /><br />Mercedes even brought out the head of AMG, all the way from Affalterbach, Germany, to unveil the car personally. The sheet was lifted to reveal a resplendent (that's right, resplendent!) C63 in a pearl white that'd make a First Lady's jewelry box jealous. Click on the images above and below to get a good look at the C63 AMG, because with over 450 horsepower, it may be the only chance you have to see it sitting still.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-mercedes-c63-amg/low/">LA 2007: Mercedes C63 AMG</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-mercedes-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/mb-c63-amg_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-mercedes-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/mb-c63-amg_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-mercedes-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/mb-c63-amg_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-mercedes-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/mb-c63-amg_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-mercedes-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/mb-c63-amg_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-mercedes-benz-c63-amg-stateside-debut/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG stateside debut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-mercedes-benz-c63-amg-stateside-debut/">LA 2007: Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG stateside debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 18:03:00 EST. There are, however, high-res shots of the warp drive-equipped station wagon available now, and they're in the attached gallery. <br />In case you missed it over the holiday weekend, here's a rundown on the essentials:<br />
<ul>
    <li>AMG 6.2L V8 producing 457 horsepower/442 lb-ft</li>
    <li>Paddle-shift equipped 7-speed automatic</li>
    <li>0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds</li>
    <li>155 mph top speed (electronically limited)</li>
    <li>Full AMG appearance package inside and out</li>
    <li>Up to 53 cubic ft of cargo space</li>

    <li>European market launch in beginning of 2008</li>
    <li>Price (inc. VAT): &euro;69,853</li>
</ul>
Hopefully it doesn't just stay in Europe, because this is one trick 'lil wagon. We'll get plenty of live shots and provide first-person impressions for you when it's unveiled next week in Frankfurt. The sister to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/04/officially-official-2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/">recently-announced sedan</a>, this is the flagship that will sit atop the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/31/mercedes-benz-lets-loose-the-new-c-class-estate/">C-Class wagon</a> range. It sports AMG's 6.2L V8 tuned to produce 457 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. That's enough to give the wagon a 4.6-second 0-62 time and an electro-nannied top end of 155 MPH. Outside, it gets all the AMG visual goodies, which make it look like quite the menacing little family truckster. Pretty awesome, kids, <em>and </em>it lets you bring up to 53 cubic feet of stuff along for the ride. Look for it later this month in Frankfurt, where it'll make its grand entrance along with the rest of the C-Class Estate lineup. We're looking forward to what the tuners like BRABUS do with this. <br /><br />[Source: Carscoop]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c-63-amg-estate/low/">Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Estate</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c-63-amg-estate/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c63amgwagon_1280_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c-63-amg-estate/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c63amgwagon_1280_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c-63-amg-estate/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c63amgwagon_1280_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c-63-amg-estate/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c63amgwagon_1280_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-c-63-amg-estate/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c63amgwagon_1280_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/03/frankfurt-preview-mercedes-benz-c63-amg-estate-hauls-ass-and/">Frankfurt Preview: Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Estate hauls ass...and your stuff!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 03 Sep 2007 11:55:00 EST. <p>A hand-built 6.3-liter V8 pumping 451 horsepower in a compact German sports sedan sounds pretty good, doesn't it? You should see it on video, where you get a better idea of the muscle beneath the skin of Mercedes' newest baby, the C63 AMG.</p>
<p>Sadly, yet again, the exhaust note, on which the Affalterbach engineers spent so much time tuning, is all but completely drowned out by the unfortunate soundtrack, and this time it's trashy trance music. It's still well worth watching, though; the video has some great angles, like the steering-wheel cam focused on the paddle shifter. Sweet.</p>

The new uber-C has an AMG hand-built 6.3L V-8 with 451 hp and 443 lb-ft of twisting force. As with other Germans from Audi and BMW, the C63 has it's terminal velocity electronically capped at 155 mph, although the acceleration is capped only by physics with 60mph available in 4.5 seconds. <br /><br />All that twisting force is transferred from the crankshaft to the drive-shaft via AMG's Speedshift Plus 7G-TRONIC transmission, which can be manually manipulated by paddles on the back side of the steering wheel. The programming on this application adds the ability for the engine to automatically open up the throttle during downshifts to match revs and smooth things out. The electronic stability control also now provides the driver the ability to select the activation thresholds for the system to activate. More details from Stuttgart after the jump.<br /><br />[Source: Mercedes-Benz]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/low/">2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/c63_amg-img_6162_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/c63_amg-img_6163_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/c63_amg-img_6164_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/c63_amg-img_6165_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/c63_amg-img_6166_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/04/officially-official-2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Officially Official: 2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/04/officially-official-2008-mercedes-benz-c63-amg/">Officially Official: 2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 04 Jul 2007 04:34:00 EST. <p>Those octane junkies in Affalterbach never seem to tire of developing new, more powerful engines and shoehorning them into everything with four wheels and a three-pointed star. The <a href="http://www.mercedes-amg.com/index2.html">Mercedes AMG website</a> is featuring a cryptic bit of flash animation that shows the back end of an unknown new product speeding through a haze, accompanied by the caption that reads, "In July... the fog lifts." Hey, wait a minute... July... that's this month! </p>
<p>The indication that Benz' in-house tuning division is preparing, in short order, to release a new model naturally leads to speculation over just what that new model might be. One definite possibility could be the impending AMG version of the newly-released C-Class, on which <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/27/c63-amg-ready-to-eat-m3s-breakfast-lunch-dinner-and-dessert/">spy shots and information</a> have been trickling in of late. Aside from a C63 AMG, we can speculate based on AMG's current line-up of fire-snorting models, which places the division's latest 6.3-liter V8 in every Mercedes model except for three: the <a href="http://autos.aol.com/mercedes-benz-g-class-2007:9123-overview">G-Class</a> SUV, the <a href="http://autos.aol.com/mercedes-benz-c-class-2007:8435-overview">outgoing C-Class</a> wagon, and the <a href="http://autos.aol.com/mercedes-benz-slk-class-2007:8642-overview">SLK</a> roadster, all of which still use the outgoing 5.5-liter engine.</p>
<p>Thanks for the tip everyone! </p>

Autocar reports that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/01/amg-c63-450-hp-c-class-at-your-service/">C63</a> "has been designed from the ground up to make the best of the 6.3-liter engine." To do so, the C-Class Crusher will take elements from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/04/new-york-auto-show-amg-clk63-black-edition/">CLK63 Black Series</a>, including portions of the car's front subframe. It will also get the Advanced Agility Package, which creates a "Sport" mode and supposedly the kind of backroad manners that Mercedes hasn't been known for. An exact horsepower number for the car has been hard to come by -- Mercedes wants to demonstrably outdo the competition, without intruding on the E63. Or that's been the story up to now. We reported earlier that the hp number would be 450, but Autocar says, <em>achtung!</em>, 500 bhp. That's only 7 shy of the much more expensive E63. If that's true, Mercedes will have to do something grand with it's middle-rung monster, which mean good times ahead. As for the C, with the new M3 to be offered as a wagon, you'll also have the option to get a hauler-version C63. Still, it's too bad that all versions will only come in automatic.</p>
<p><em>Thanks for the tip, PD</em></p>

Set to go head-to-head with its Teutonic rivals the M3 and C63; the new RS5 is expected to pack a 450 HP punch when it hits the market in the first half of 2008.<br /><br />The 4.2-liter V8 currently employed in the RS4 will find a home under the hood of the "5," but with the addition of two small, quick spooling turbos. Max horsepower will obviously see a bump, but the real news is that the projected torque figures are likely to breach the 500 lb.-ft. mark.<br /><br />Naturally, Quattro will be employed to send all that power to the ground, and with a reworking of the drivetrain, weight distribution is expected to come in around 55:45. Rolling stock will be comprised of 19-inches on all four corners, framing carbon ceramic brakes pulled from the R8. It's also expected that Audi will borrow some of the TT's tech and use magnetic dampers to limit roll.<br /><br />With its rear-bias power delivery and neutral handling characteristics, the death match between the RS5's cross-country rivals is on. And with a price tag of about &pound;50-large, well-to-do pistonheads will have a <strike>serious</strike> envious decision on their hands.<br /><br />[Source: Car]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/12/car-magazine-gets-the-skinny-on-the-audi-rs5/">Car magazine gets the skinny on the Audi RS5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 12 May 2007 11:55:00 EST. <p>After several other tuners have had their say, AMG finally checks in with a horsepower number for the C63: 450. By comparison, the E63 AMG gets 507 hp and takes $83K to become part of the family. The C63 AMG will cost about $20K less, so in order not to offend its bigger brother (and their owners), the AMG V8 has been detuned. That is 20 more than was originally rumored, and 57 less than the E63 AMG. Word is that it will also be differentiated slightly from other AMG's by wearing a mildly restyled bodykit, but will get the quad-pipes to match the rest of the AMG range. The car will be revealed (finally!) at Frankfurt, later this year.</p>

Sure enough, spy photos have begun hitting the internet, showing the next C63 AMG undergoing testing at the fabled Nurburgring.</p>
<p>Set to face off against the likes of BMW's upcoming (albeit manual and two-door) M3 and Audi's all-wheel-drive RS4, the C63 is anticipated to shoehorn in AMG's prolific 6.3-liter V8, though detuned to somewhere in the neighborhood of a magical 420 horsepower.</p>
<p>Major aftermarket tuners like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/brabus-does-the-new-c-class/">Brabus</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/13/c-class-tunage-kicherer-k35-cs/">Kicherer</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/17/lorinser-takes-on-the-new-merc-c-class/">Lorinser</a> have already revealed their modifications for the new C-Class, but only AMG will be able to provide the dealer-direct, factory-backed final product that you're likely to see ripping up your local streets. Expect the C63 AMG to make its debut at the Frankfurt show in September.</p>

With 475 hp being created at 6,800 rpm and 465 lb.-ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm, Stuttgart's luxury brand is seeking to give the RS4 and soon to be released M3 a run for their money.<br /><br />While air is siphoned in through a redesigned front air dam to feed the beast, power finds its way down to the wheels through Mercedes' new 7-speed automatic. Uber-pricey composite brakes are up to the task of slowing forward progress with little to no fade and beefy rear rubber makes sure all the horses are used to good effect.<br /><br />Although the camo-covered Merc doesn't lend much in the way of body panel styling hints, <em>Inside Line</em> notes that the new headlights are getting a more taut rearward pull, dumping the old ovals for a closer family resemblance to the S-Class.<br /><br />The debut of the new C-Class is due at this September's Paris Motor Show with vehicles finding their way to dealers sometime in early 2007.<br /><br />[Source: <em>Edmund's</em> <em>Inside Line</em>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/26/merc-chases-down-the-rs4-and-m3-c63-spy-shots-revealed/">Spy Shots: Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 26 Jul 2006 13:07:00 EST. Sorry BMW, you're gonna to have to equip the next M3 with more than just a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/20/the-scoop-on-the-bmw-3-series-coupe/">400-hp V8</a> if you hope to keep up with MB's upcoming C63 AMG. We've seen enough spy shots of the garden variety C-Class than we care to admit, but there's something about a car in camo sporting a 6.2L V8 producing a downright silly amount of horsepower that grabs our attention. How does 503 horses work for you?
