It may be limited in number and expensive as all get out, but the Volvo C30 Electric does have some big fans. In fact, the all-electric (almost) vehicle was named the "Green Car of the Year" in China at the 4th China New Energy Mobility Summit.

Dutch website NU recently reported that Volvo expects low demand for its C30 Electric, and therefore it decided to stop building the mostly electric car (it has a small, ethanol-burning heater to keep passengers warm). The original source for this information was a story in the Belgian newspaper The Age that cited Volvo's government affairs director, Anders Kärrberg. Turns out, this isn't quite right.

The lovely – though far too pricey for our tastes – Volvo C30 Electric DRIVe will get its motivation from Brusa Elektronik AG-supplied electric motors. Based in Germany, Brusa says its drivetrain systems will power at least 250 – possibly more based upon demand – C30 Electrics.

Swedish automaker Volvo has teamed up with German engineering conglomerate Siemens to jointly advance the development of electric vehicles through an extensive strategic cooperation that will focus on electrical drive technology, electronics and vehicle charging units.

Volvo has announced that its C30 Electric will participate in an inductive charging project called Continuous Electric Drive (CED) that is being set up by Belgian technological and automotive development specialists Flanders' Drive. Volvo will deliver a single C30 Electric to Flanders' Drive on May 19th, the official start of the project, to be modified for wireless charging.
