Mercedes, so far, has had the biggest stage production of any manufacturer here in Frankfurt. It was so big they needed to construct their own building next to the existing exhibit halls to house it. The three-story structure was filled to capacity as the company debuted something like 193 new models in the 20 minute show. Okay, maybe it was a dozen or so. Using dancers in some very creative ways, they managed to convey the idea of man and nature working together for a clean green future to start things off. For the debut of the new models, they were particularly keen on looking green, so the dancers helped create an illusion involving nature. Taking the form of trees and forest spirits (What was this, an anime film? -Ed.), the dancers somehow managed to turn their tree limb props into the shape of a vehicle and enclose all 12 of themselves inside of it just as Dr. Z drove out in a Bluetech sedan. After a bit of talk, the sedan went away and when it was time for the wagon (did Dr. Z call it a Model T? Probably T-Model, on second thought), it too was green. This time a C300 BLUETEC hybrid.

Click the C-Class Wagon for a high-res gallery

After unveiling the latest C-Class sedans last March at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz is taking the wraps off the new C-Class Estate in Frankfurt next month. Aside from stretching the roofline back, there isn't a lot different from the sedan. Cargo volume in the back ranges from 17 cu.ft with the back seats up to 53 cu.ft with the seats folded.

That rear cargo space features plenty of tie-down hooks and a collapsable storage crate for storing those groceries you don't want sliding around. European models get a full range of four- and six-cylinder gas and diesel engines, with the range-topper being the 3.5L V-6. here in the US, we'll probably only see the bigger sixes initially with a diesel probably following later. The last time we checked-in on the C-Class Wagon, it was caught, as we said then, wearing its "spyshooter eveningwear." Now, The Car Connection has several photos of the grocery-getter in little more than bikini briefs. In fact, they have spy shots of two of the new estates undergoing what appears to be cold-weather testing. One is wearing the same blacked-out six-spoke shoes, with the chrome grille and mirrors that we had shown you back in June, while the other sports 12-spoke rims with chrome trim below the windows, doors, front bumper and on the luggage rack.

We were hoping to see the wagon totally nekkid in Geneva, but The Car Connection says that only the new C-Class sedan will travel to Switzerland, while the wagon might debut at the Frankfurt show in September.
