We watched a marathon of the SpikeTV reality show based on the Bullrun Rally and hosted by Bill Goldberg, but weren't too terribly impressed with the premise. It seemed one needed only a decent proficiency at reading maps, as well as a lot of luck, to win. The winning team was the father/daughter duo of Mike and Morgan Alsop from Lafayette, Indiana, who took top Bullrun honors at the helm of their 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. Before the start of the 2007 Bullrun rally last Saturday in Montreal, participants Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collonis bet their fellow Bullrun buddy Jay Riecke $50,000 that they could beat the longstanding cross-country rally record of driving from New York City to L.A. set by Dave Heinz and Dave Yarborough back in 1979 during the final running of the original Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. Heinz and Yarborough did the trek in 32 hours and 51 minutes in a Jaguar XJS.

As if there hasn't been enough Paris Hilton in our lives, now she's going to be competing in this year's Bullrun behind the wheel of a Spyker C8 Spyder. Bullrun, an eight-day rally and traveling fiesta,, will be running from Montreal to Key West starting on May 11. Paris was part of the 2004 rally (which, of course, she did not win) so she does have some experience with how the competition works.

If you've seen any of the Bullrun episodes that have aired on Spike TV (Tuesday nights at 10), or even the promotional ads, you might recognize today's eBay find. And for the right bid, it could be yours.

With the exception of "Pinks" on Speed Channel, automotive prime-time reality shows have been quite disappointing. The plot for "American Hot Rod" is a boring redundancy: whiny, bitchy, overworked crew is behind schedule but everyone is happy when the cover comes off in a grand ceremony. The sophomoric car-napping plots on "Overhauling" get in the way of any meaningful mechanical work that car enthusiasts would like to see, and no experienced car builder believes that those projects are complete
