<br />
Of all the excellent car chases in cinema history, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/dodge/charger">Dodge Charger</a> vs. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/mustang">Ford Mustan</a>g battle in Steve McQueen's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/bullit"><em>Bullit</em></a> may be the most recreated. Now it looks like the crew from the TV show <em>Alcatraz</em> has tried its hand at paying homage to the hubcap slinging sequence. According to local news station KTVU Channel 2, the new FOX series recently spent hours on San Francisco's Bay and Larkin streets in an attempt to painstakingly replicate each legendary scene using modern interpretations of the famous bruisers in the 1968 film. The final product will be part of the <em>Alcatraz</em> season finale, set to air on March 26.<br />
<br />
We've seen the <em>Bullit</em> chase replicated for <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/06/music-video-recreates-bullitt-chase-scene-for-unknown-reason/">questionable music videos</a> and with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/15/video-bullitt-chase-scene-being-recreated-in-1-32-scale/">stop-motion animation</a>, but this is the first time in recent memory a TV show has tackled putting Mopar power against the now iconic Highland Green Mustang. <em>Alcatraz</em> is the brainchild of executive producer J.J. Abrams, and features three investigators as they look into why 302 of Alcatraz prison's most foul prisoners and guards have suddenly reappeared in modern-day San Francisco. If you're interested, check your local listings for air times.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/12/alcatraz-recreating-bullit-chase-scene-for-seaso/"><i>Alcatraz</i> recreating <em>Bullit</em> chase scene for season finale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 12 Mar 2012 15:45:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/brabus">Brabus</a> has taken the time to work over the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/c-class/">Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe</a> in the company's trademark over-the-top style. The result is the Brabus Bullit Coupe, which is headed for a debut at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/geneva motor show">Geneva Motor Show</a> this week, complete with an 800-horsepower version of the same V12 found under the hood of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/s-class/">Mercedes-Benz S-Class</a>. That kind of craziness is so beautiful, it almost brings a tear to our eye.<br />
<br />
The engineers at Brabus bored out the block to 6.3 liters of displacement, up from 5.5 liters in factory form. Throw in a pair of turbos and you have a vehicle capable of dumping a staggering 1,047 pound-feet of torque on the rear tires.<br />
<br />
Or at least you would if Brabus didn't have to electronically limit final output to 811 lb-ft of torque. The company says there simply isn't a transmission out there capable of standing up to that kind of twist. Even with the limited grunt, the Bullit Coupe can pop off a 0-62 mph run in 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 229 mph. Pure brilliance.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/05/brabus-bringing-800-hp-bullit-c-class-coupe-to-geneva/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Brabus bringing 800-HP "Bullit" C-Class Coupe to Geneva</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/05/brabus-bringing-800-hp-bullit-c-class-coupe-to-geneva/">Brabus bringing 800-HP "Bullit" C-Class Coupe to Geneva</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 05 Mar 2012 11:29:00 EST. It has presence, with an air of understated brutality. The aero mods speak volumes about its predilection for sinister speed, and the V12 emblems flanking the sides only tell half the story. Housed within the engine bay is BRABUS' own SV12 Biturbo mill, producing 720 HP and an electronically governed 811 lb.-ft. of torque (974 lb.-ft. of twist would be available if it wouldn't tear apart the rear diff and liquify the tires). On your way up to the 224 MPH top speed, you'll pass 62 MPH in just under four seconds, and if you want all the details, you can read through our initial post <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/10/frankfurt-preview-720-hp-974-lb-ft-brabus-bullit/">here</a> and check out our high-res pics in the gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit">BRABUS Bullit Black Arrow - live</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/12/frankfurt-2007-brabus-bullit-live-and-brutally-insane/">Frankfurt 2007: BRABUS Bullit, live and brutally insane</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 12 Sep 2007 08:27:00 EST. Today, they officially announced what that vehicle is. Say hello to the BRABUS Bullit, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan that is the beneficiary of the utterly monstrous BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo engine transplant. Put plainly, that makes this rather understated-looking (for BRABUS, at least) sedan one of the fastest cars in the world, period. <br /><br />Power from the twin-turbocharged V12 is a staggering 720 horses and an even more mind-numbing <span style="font-style: italic;">974 lb-ft </span>of torque. For the sake of tractability, BRABUS electronically limits the peak available torque at "only" 811 lb-ft. Still, you'd better have a substantial tire budget set aside, as you'll (literally) be burning through it very quickly. A heavily-modified 5-speed automatic with a BRABUS locking rear differential sends power rearward. Two different final drive ratios are offered, as well -- 2.65:1 or 2.24:1. Naturally, the exhaust, suspension and brakes are all modified as well.<br /><br />Performance numbers are blistering: 0-62 in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 224 mph. If have &euro;348,000 handy (and you live in Europe), you can consider yourself to be in the market for one. For complete details and specs on the Bullit, just follow the jump. <br /><br />[Source: BRABUS]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit">BRABUS Bullit Black Arrow - live</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/brabus-bullit---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/10/frankfurt-preview-720-hp-974-lb-ft-brabus-bullit/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Frankfurt Preview: 720 HP/974 lb-ft BRABUS Bullit!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/10/frankfurt-preview-720-hp-974-lb-ft-brabus-bullit/">Frankfurt Preview: 720 HP/974 lb-ft BRABUS Bullit!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 10 Sep 2007 12:33:00 EST.
