We first heard about the Buckeye Bullet 2 about two years ago when we covering the Ford Fusion 999 land speed record project. The student engineering team from Ohio State University was collaborating with engineers from Ford and the two teams shared data on improving performance of the fuel cell and electric motor system. While Ford finished the Fusion program after setting a 207 mph record, the OSU team has soldiered on.

The Ohio State University team that has been working with Ford on setting land speed records for fuel cell powered vehicles passed another milestone on Friday as the August session of salt flats racings drew to a close. The hydrogen=fueled streamliner broke through the 200 mph barrier at the three mile mark on the course. Now that they have verified that the drivetrain works properly they are returning to Columbus to continue refining all the systems. The team is heading back to Bonneville in Oc

In the interest of full disclosure, let me first tell you all that I am a huge Buckeye fan. I do live in Ohio, mind you, and I grew up in a family which always had a full supply of Ohio State paraphernalia to choose from. Please, do me a big favor, and let this one mention of the state of Florida be the only one... no comments on that subject if you would be so kind.
