<br />
It ain't pretty, but it's fast. Actually, with a claimed 211 mph top speed, the Brabus Bi-Turbo V12 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/glk-class">GLK</a> is the fastest SUV in the world. Which is kinda like being the winner in a Twinkie-eating competition: It's an epic feat of embarrassing proportions.<br />
<br />
To pull it off, the Brabus crew stuck with its tried and true formula of shoving entirely too much engine into a small package. Underneath the vented hood lies a Mercedes-sourced V12 that's been stroked from 5.5- to 6.3-liters. From there, the Bottrop boys fit a duo of turbos, two intercoolers, a couple high-flow cats and a stainless steel exhaust. The effect is typical Brabus: A staggering 740 horsepower and 995 pound-feet of torque, which is actually limited to 811 lb-ft (at 2,100 rpm) to avoid the gearbox, diff and rear tires from vaporizing in an oily, metallic haze. And naturally, the absurdity doesn't stop with the engine.<br />
<br />
Twelve-piston front calipers clamp onto 15-inch discs, with six-piston calipers and 14.2-inch rotors in the rear, while a height adjustable coilover suspension with ten settings for bound and rebound join 22-inch wheels wrapped in a choice of Pirelli or Yokohama rubber. The exterior and interior have been restyled to match, and while Merc's diminutive 'ute isn't exactly a beauty queen to begin with, Brabus' blocky aftermarket brutalization lends itself well to the GLK's squat proportions.<br />
<br />
But aesthetics aside, there's a bigger problem. Actually, there are 397,000 of 'em. That's how many euros you'll need for the GLK V12. For that kind of scratch ($580,000 using a straight conversion), there's a host of high-power exotica available. And when you consider the GLK's sprinting stats -- 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and 124 mph in 12.8 ticks -- the far less expensive <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/x5+m">BMW X5 M</a> is easily on par and was actually designed from the onset to be an offensively quick grocery-getter. Then again, the M can't break the double-century mark at Nardo... something to consider during your trip to Costco. Press release below the fold.<br />

<br />
Don't have enough money for Brabus to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/16/frankfurt-2009-brabus-e-v12-black-baron-is-where-light-goes-to/">swap out the V8 in your E63 AMG for a V12</a>? Not to worry. Today at the Essen Motor Show, the German tuner officially launched its B63 S performance package for 6.2-liter V8 in the four-door Benz. The upgrade consists of dual "sport" air filters, high-flow catalytic converters, and revised program for the engine and results in a 30 horsepower increase. <br />
<br />
Brabus is also offering other modifications for the E63 AMG as well, including a carbon fiber aero kit, wheels in 18 to 20-inch sizes, and various interior trim pieces like stainless-steel scuff plates, a new 225 mph speedometer, and wood or carbon fiber inlays. For the most part ,we'd skip the visual bits and stick with the engine upgrades. Hit the jump for full details in press release, or check out the high-res gallery below courtesy of Brabus.<br />

<br />
In addition to the <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2009/09/21/frankfurt-2009-smart-brabus-tailor-made-concept-goes-rainbow-ta/">Tailor Made concepts</a> that Brabus trotted out for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, the German tuning firm also showed off a new version of its electric Smart Fortwo called the Unlimited High Voltage. This new model is an updated version of the company's <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-brabus-smart-ed-revealed/">electric Smart ED concept</a> and it features a lithium ion battery pack supplied by Tesla Motors, Daimler's electric vehicle partner.<br />
<br />
The High Voltage's rear-mounted electric motor was also developed by Tesla and offers up 82 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, which Brabus says is sufficient to push the little electric runabout to 60 mph in under 10 seconds. Additional interesting touches include aerodynamic wheels with clear plexiglass covers and wider side skirts to improve airflow. Inside, white leather seats with yellow stitching join a console-mounted monitor that displays the remaining state of charge.<br />
<br />
The HV's single most intriguing bit of tech, though, would have to be the <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2009/06/17/sound-the-alarm-brabus-smart-ed-features-built-in-exhaust-note/">sound generator</a>. This little unit will reportedly allow the diminutive electric machine to sound like a honkin' V8-powered racecar... should the owner feel so inclined. <br />
Fancy yourself as a real-life Bruce Wayne with the financial wherewithal to match? Have we got a workaday sedan for you. German tunemeisters Brabus have just lifted the sheet off their new E V12 Black Baron sedan, although we almost didn't notice, as the matte-black &uuml;berBenz swallows all beams of light that dare go near its carbon fiber flanks.<br />
<br />
Packing a twin-turbo'd 6.3-liter V12, this one-of-ten wonder spits out a tidy 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque (no, that's not a typo). So equipped, Brabus says the demon tweaked E-Class will lunge to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and hit 124 mph in a sliver under ten ticks. Thanks to the axe murderer of a powerplant underhood and the aerodynamic-at-all-costs design, the Black Baron will reportedly top out at 230 mph - and when operated at saner speeds, it still manages to return 15 mpg. Won't your neighbors be pleased.<br />
<br />
What price for Gotham glory? Check out our high-res gallery below and then check with your financial adviser about cutting a slush fund check for $875,000.<br />

<br />
Among the more intricate of Brabus' creations is this, the E V12 "Black Baron." Based on the latest E-Class, the dark lord is refitted with a twin turbo, 6.3-liter V12 with 800 hp and an electronically-limited 811 lb-ft (even though the engine actually produces 1,047 lb-ft), a ram-air system and a tuned ECU.<br />
<br />
Underneath is a fully-adjustable suspension and much bigger brakes and tires. To reach the car's electronically-limited 217 mph top speed, the car's aerodynamics have been improved at the obvious expense of the car's looks. Unless, of course, you think those wheel spats look good. We don't. If you need to go faster, the car is estimated to be able to hit 230 mph sans the electro-nanny. And it still gets 15 mpg. <br />
<br />
There will only be ten of them made, and a single example will require you to hand over &euro;600,000 ($875,000 USD). You can read about it in the presser after the jump, and check it out in the gallery of high-res photos below.<br />

<div align="center"><small><em><strong>BRABUS SV12 R - Click above for high-res image gallery</strong></em></small></div>
<br /> When Brabus one day announces that they've developed a G-Wagen that can simply teleport from place to place, we won't be the least bit surprised. After all, getting there faster is the company's mission, and the Mercedes-Benzes it works its black magic on are certainly capable of that. Take, for instance, the latest ride to emerge from the skunkworks in Bottrop: the S600-based SV12 R.<br /> <br /> The Brabus SV12 R is a car for drivers who feel that the 612-horsepower S65 AMG is lacking underhood. Fret-not, deep-pocketed speed freaks: Brabus has your back. The SV12 R features a 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 that shovels out 750 horses and a completely insane <em>995 lb-ft</em> of torque. How do we know it's insane? Because the Brabus folks - who aren't exactly shrinking violets when it comes to the gonzo power numbers - electronically cap it at 811 lb-ft to protect the transmission. (Somewhere in Germany, there must be a shady character named Klaus with a flash tuner doing back-alley torque liberations.) Regardless, that much twist going to the rear wheels ought to put you on a first-name basis with your local tire retailer, as you're likely to be in there every 45 minutes or so for new rubber. Brabus says that zero to 60 takes just four seconds, and that the SV12 R's top speed is an electronically-limited 211 mph.<br /> <br /> What else? The <em>de rigeur</em> aero kit is in play, as are a variety of wheel designs for maximum curb appeal. Inside, the car can be outfitted with "BRABUS Yachting precious-wood" accents and a fully-equipped backseat office, allowing you to finalize that corporate takeover PowerPoint deck while your retired DTM-racer chauffeur breaks every traffic law ever written in a bid to get you to your meeting on time. The car will make its debut later this month at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>. <br />If there was one thing we discovered <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/06/first-drive-2010-mercedes-benz-e-class-coupe/">during our time</a> with the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2010MercedesBenzEClass/">2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class</a> Coupe, it was that more power and a reworked suspension could do wonders for the lumbering E. As expected, Brabus has stepped up to the plate to offer a comprehensive tuning package for the latest Mercedes, and as always, it starts with the engine.<br /><br />The German tuning firm's has stroked the 5.5-liter engine to 6.1-liters to net a total of 462 hp and 454 lb-ft of torque - up from 383 hp and 391 lb-ft. The result is a 0-60 mph time of 4.7-seconds and a top-speed of 196 mph.<br /><br />The styling is somewhat subdued compared to Brabus' other offerings, and includes new front and rear bumpers, 20-inch wheels and vertical front LEDs. Coilovers are available to lower the coupe and firm-up the ride, while six-piston aluminum calipers clamp 14.2-inch vented and cross-drilled brakes up front. <br /><br />The package runs 39,000 euros (just under $40k), and if you're living abroad and more interested in oil-burning performance, Brabus is in the process of creating a tuned E250 CDI BlueEfficiency with many of the same upgrades. Hit the jump for all the details.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-brabus-e-class-coupe/low/">2010 Brabus E-Class Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-brabus-e-class-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/01-brabus-e-coupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-brabus-e-class-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/02-brabus-e-coupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-brabus-e-class-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/03-brabus-e-coupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-brabus-e-class-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/04-brabus-e-coupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-brabus-e-class-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/05-brabus-e-coupe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/20/new-mercedes-benz-e-class-coupe-gets-a-boost-from-brabus/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe gets a boost from Brabus</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/20/new-mercedes-benz-e-class-coupe-gets-a-boost-from-brabus/">New Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe gets a boost from Brabus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 20 May 2009 15:02:00 EST. <br />If you must have the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and can't wait for the AMG version, BRABUS has something to show you. The German tuning firm has launched its new program for the redesigned luxury sports sedan, the highlight of which is an enlarged 6.1-liter version of the V8 found in the E550 that now produces 462 hp compared to the original's 382 hp. <br /><br />BRABUS clearly didn't stop there, fitting an aero package to the new E-Class that replaces the front bumper with a new design that reduces lift and incorporates LED daytime running lights and fog lamps. The exterior also features new fender vents, rocker panels, a spoiler and rear apron housing a pair of chrome tailpipes. The entire look is rounded out by new BRABUS Monoblock wheels that can be had up to 20 inches in diameter.<br /><br />Additional performance hardware includes an augmented braking system with larger rotors and more powerful calipers, an optional limited-slip differential and BRABUS-tuned sport exhaust. The interior, likewise, can be fitted with optional equipment like illuminated BRABUS sill plates, a different "sport" steering wheel and complete mastik and alcantara leather interiors. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mercedes-benz-brabus-e-class/low/">2010 Mercedes-Benz BRABUS E-Class</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mercedes-benz-brabus-e-class/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/000_brabuseclass_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mercedes-benz-brabus-e-class/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/001_brabuseclass_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mercedes-benz-brabus-e-class/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/002_brabuseclass_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mercedes-benz-brabus-e-class/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/003_brabuseclass_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mercedes-benz-brabus-e-class/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/004_brabuseclass_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: BRABUS]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/27/brabus-turns-2010-mercedes-benz-e-class-into-amg-hunting-beast/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BRABUS turns 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class into AMG-hunting beast</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/27/brabus-turns-2010-mercedes-benz-e-class-into-amg-hunting-beast/">BRABUS turns 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class into AMG-hunting beast</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 27 Mar 2009 12:56:00 EST. <br />Nothing says "happy birthday" like 700 horsepower and nearly 1000 lb-ft of torque. That's what Brabus figures, at least, and we're with them. To mark the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/20/mercedes-benz-gelandewagen-celebrating-30-years/">30th anniversary</a> of the indomitable Mercedes-Benz Gel&auml;ndewagen, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/19/aint-nothin-but-a-g-thang-brabus-to-show-twin-turbo-v12-gelan/">Brabus presented the G V12 S Biturbo</a> here at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, and it could hardly be missed in the middle of the Palexpo show floor. The tuned twin-turbo 6.3-liter V12 sits in a tricked out G-Wagen decked out in black with LED headlamps, custom bodywork, black leather everything, a 163-mph top end and a physics-defying 4.3-second spring to 60 mph. At nearly half a million on the sticker, you're not likely to see one parked at the local mini mall - unless you live in car-bonkers Abu Dhabi where a supposedly <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/28/mclaren-powered-mercedes-g-wagon-spotted-guess-where/">McLaren-powered G-Wagen</a> was spotted last year - so better check it out in the galleries below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/">Geneva 2009: Brabus G V12 S Biturbo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-gen-09-brabus-v12-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-gen-09-brabus-v12-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-gen-09-brabus-v12-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-gen-09-brabus-v12-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-gen-09-brabus-v12-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/">BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/ab-01-brabus-g-v12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/ab-02-brabus-g-v12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/ab-05-brabus-g-v12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/ab-06-brabus-g-v12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/ab-07-brabus-g-v12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br /> <em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Noah Joseph / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo-is-our-kind-of-birthday-cake/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Geneva 2009: Brabus G V12 S Biturbo is our kind of birthday cake</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-brabus-g-v12-s-biturbo-is-our-kind-of-birthday-cake/">Geneva 2009: Brabus G V12 S Biturbo is our kind of birthday cake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 09:29:00 EST. <br />Welcome to the year of the G-Wagen. Now <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/20/mercedes-benz-gelandewagen-celebrating-30-years/">celebrating its 30th anniversary</a>, the mainstay of Mercedes' sport-ute line-up has reason to celebrate, and friends to celebrate with. Mercedes itself has released <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/17/mercedes-celebrates-30-years-of-the-g-wagen-with-special-edition/">a pair of special-edition Gel&auml;ndewagens</a> to mark the occasion. Floridian Benz tuning house RENNtech is toying with a<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/19/birthday-beating-renntech-goes-medieval-on-the-g-wagen/"> special G of its own</a>. And now BRABUS is preparing to storm the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> with its own modified G-Class, and the stats are mind-boggling. <br /><br />We'll start with the good stuff: BRABUS has dropped in the twin-turbo V12 from the Mercedes S600, but bored out from a prodigious 5.5 liters to a gargantuan 6.3. With the help of a new crankshaft, cylinder heads, custom exhaust, optimized intercooler and bigger turbos, the Brabus G V12 S Biturbo pumps out a whopping 700 horsepower and even more jaw-dropping 973 lb-ft of torque from just 2,100 rpm. Driving through a retuned five-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive, all that power and twist is enough to propel the beast to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. And though the top end is electronically limited to 150 mph, BRABUS says its monster, despite having the aerodynamic profile of a Panzer with a parachute, could hit 163. Custom aero kit, lighting, wheels and electronics round out the package for a sticker price that may be the most mind-boggling number of all: 379,000 Euros, or about $483,000 in American greenbacks. <br />As we move inexorably toward the electrification of cars, companies that have made a business out of tweaking engines for more power will have to make some significant changes to their business model. BRABUS is a company known as the primary third-party alternative to AMG when it comes to enhanced cars from the house of Daimler, and today has announced its first foray into electricity. The German tuner is now offering a package of changes for the very few people who have or will soon own a Tesla Roadster. For the moment at least, changes to the all-electric powertrain are verboten. That means BRABUS has focused on other things like stylistic "enhancements" and a supremely odd "space sound generator" that emits the roar of a V8, race car engine or two futuristic sounds called "Beam" and "Warp". <br /><br />A set of LED running lamps mounted in the front air intake look kind of like they were ripped off an Audi. Perhaps BRABUS should have developed a new headlamp cluster that integrates the LEDs like real Audis do. Meanwhile, the underbody neon lighting looks like something from 1989 Miami and the rear wing is a questionable addition, as well. It's hard to judge the matte white paint finish in the available photos, so we'll set that aside for now. The only visual change that actually works is the new 18-inch front/ 19-inch rear wheel/tire package with Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. Given the number of Tesla Roadsters that actually exist at the moment, we probably won't see very many examples of this package on the road, which debuts later this month at the Essen Motor Show in Germany. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-tesla-roadster/low/">BRABUS Tesla Roadster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-tesla-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/00_teslabrabus_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-tesla-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_teslabrabus_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-tesla-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_teslabrabus_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-tesla-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_teslabrabus_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-tesla-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_teslabrabus_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: BRABUS]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/13/if-you-can-get-a-tesla-roadster-brabus-will-now-mod-it-for-you/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BRABUS begins business of tuning the Tesla Roadster</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/13/if-you-can-get-a-tesla-roadster-brabus-will-now-mod-it-for-you/">BRABUS begins business of tuning the Tesla Roadster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 13 Nov 2008 10:59:00 EST. <br />Those looking for a little bit more punch from their microcars are in luck as smart will begin offering the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/28/bad-in-the-best-way-brabus-new-smart-fortwos/">BRABUS-tuned</a> version of its fortwo in the U.S. beginning in February 2009. News of its impending arrival was apparently emailed to potential smart owners who have already placed reservation deposits but have not yet configured their new fortwo. These people in line for a regular smart fortwo will have the option of changing their reservation to the limited edition BRABUS model beginning 8PM EST tonight. The American-ized version should feature the same 98-horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder engine as the BRABUS fortwo in Europe, as well as the same styling tweaks and handling package. Even with the increase in power, the European BRABUS fortwo is still able to achieve 45 miles per U.S. gallon. While it's 10-second run to 60 won't break any records, that's a precious few ticks quicker that the standard model and would surely make the microcar a lot more fun to drive. Still, we'll take what we can get.<br /><br /><strong>UPDATE:</strong> <a href="http://www.digikey.com/?WT.term=Ad+%2346001&amp;WT.campaign=1075&amp;WT.content=text&amp;WT.medium=cpc&amp;WT.source=yahoo&amp;cshift_ck=1057185350cs501718854&amp;WT.srch=1">Sources</a> on the forum indicate the U.S.-spec fortwo BRABUS will not get the turbocharged version of the microcar's three-cylinder engine (probably because it's not certified in the U.S.), though a BRABUS Sport model may arrive later with the turbo. The BRABUS package will reportedly include a sport exhaust with dual center tips, sport suspension, 15- front and 17-inch rear wheels, power steering and all the BRABUS visual cues. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/smart-fortwo-brabus/low/">smart fortwo BRABUS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/smart-fortwo-brabus/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/00_brabussmartfortwo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/smart-fortwo-brabus/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_brabussmartfortwo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/smart-fortwo-brabus/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/02_brabussmartfortwo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/smart-fortwo-brabus/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/03_brabussmartfortwo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/smart-fortwo-brabus/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/04_brabussmartfortwo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://allcarsallthetime.blogspot.com/2008/10/breaking-smart-fortwo-brabus-model-will.html">All Cars All The Time</a>, <a href="http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/forums/f3/2009-brabus-announcement-15407/">smart of america</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/23/smart-fortwo-brabus-coming-to-america/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>smart fortwo BRABUS coming to America</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/23/smart-fortwo-brabus-coming-to-america/">smart fortwo BRABUS coming to America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 12:23:00 EST. <br />BRABUS tunes all manner of Mercedes-Benzes, and even branches out by pumping performance into diminutive smart cars that have very little business going fast. Likewise, BRABUS also tunes Mercedes SUVs that usually have no business bragging about their performance, and there's a new Merc ute on the scene that has yet to get the German tuning firm's treatment... until now. BRABUS has just released details on its new Exclusive Program for the Mercedes-Benz GLK that allows owners to tune the new soft-roader to their heart's content. Whether you're driving a diesel-powered GLK or gas-powered variant, BRABUS has a host of engine mods to eke out more power and two new suspensions to firm up the ride. Likewise, there's a new front apron, roof attachment, rocker panels and rear apron, as well as an array of new wheels to choose from. There's also a catalogue's worth of interior accessories, and in all more ways to customize your GLK than we care to enumerate here. The gallery below shows a model decked out with all the goodies, and you can check out the official press release from BRABUS after the jump for more details.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-glk-exclusive-program/low/">BRABUS Mercedes-Benz GLK Exclusive Program</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-glk-exclusive-program/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/b08aa123_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-glk-exclusive-program/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/b08aa124_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-glk-exclusive-program/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/b08aa125_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-glk-exclusive-program/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/b08aa126_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-glk-exclusive-program/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/b08aa127_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: BRABUS]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/brabus-turnss-attention-towards-mercedes-benz-glk/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BRABUS turns attention towards Mercedes-Benz GLK</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/brabus-turnss-attention-towards-mercedes-benz-glk/">BRABUS turns attention towards Mercedes-Benz GLK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 14:03:00 EST. <div align="center"><span style="font-style: italic;"><small>Click above for a hi-res gallery of the GLK SEMA show cars</small></span><br /></div>
<br />Perhaps you've heard: Mercedes-Benz has this new SUV called the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mercedes-benz-glk/758212/">GLK</a>, and it's not just the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/16/spy-shot-mercedes-benz-glk-gets-sexy-in-the-city/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Sex and the City</span></a> audience that's being targeted. The compact ute's getting-to-know-you tour will make a stop at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, where four concept versions will be on display. We already told you about <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/29/sema-preview-renntechs-pikes-peak-inspired-hybrid-glk/">RENNtech's hybrid Rally Racer</a> show truck, and now we have some info on the other three versions that'll join it in Vegas. <br /><br />Naturally, BRABUS will represent, skinning the GLK300 Bluetec in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/1038637/">Widestar</a> duds, new wheels, and the <em>de rigeur</em> custom interior. No power upgrade yet, it seems, but knowing BRABUS, they'll have a version putting out approximately a trillion horsepower by the time the GLK is in customers' hands. <br /><br />Boulevard Customs is prepping the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/1038650/">GLK "Urban Whip"</a>, a garish creation sporting 26" wheels and a front end that likely depleted the world's supply of mesh grillework. Lord knows what all the other SEMA builders are gonna do now that they're faced with this crisis. <br /><br />Finally, Legendary Motor Cars will show the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/1038638/">Four Corners Rock Crawler</a>, which rolls on big knobby rubber, has an integrated grille guard, and sports a set of roof lights. But all that's dress-up, because off-roading's not the angle. This GLK has some winch rig that lets it pull skaters into position to then grind on the truck's integrated side rails. (G-Wagen ambulance chase vehicle not included.)<br /><br />Hey, no one ever said SEMA's about being particularly normal. We'll have plenty more live shots from the show in November. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/low/">Mercedes-Benz GLK SEMA '08 show cars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/2009-glk_blvd-_-urban_whip_1_large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Mercedes-Benz GLK Urban Whip" title="Mercedes-Benz GLK Urban Whip" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/glk_sema_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="BRABUS GLK Widestar" title="BRABUS GLK Widestar" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/glk_sema_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Mercedes-Benz GLK Four Corners Rock Crawler" title="Mercedes-Benz GLK Four Corners Rock Crawler" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-glk-sema-08-show-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/glk_sema_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="RENNtech GLK Rally Racer" title="RENNtech GLK Rally Racer" /></a></div><br />[Source: Mercedes-Benz]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/16/mercedes-benz-glk-ready-to-storm-sema/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mercedes-Benz GLK ready to storm SEMA</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/16/mercedes-benz-glk-ready-to-storm-sema/">Mercedes-Benz GLK ready to storm SEMA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 16 Sep 2008 09:00:00 EST. With a BRABUS badge on the back, the C63 AMG produces 530 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, up from 457 and 442, respectively. Called the B63 S performance kit, the engine mods include free-flow high-performance metal catalysts, sport air filters and new programming for the ECU with custom mapping. With everything in place, the BRABUS C63 AMG can hit 62 mph in just 4.1 seconds and ultimately top out at 197 mph. Of course, the rest of the sedan has been beefed up to support the engine with components like a BRABUS performance brake system, 19-inch wheels and a height-adjustable BRABUS coil-over suspension. Finally, the German tuner has a whole catalogue of interior and exterior accessories to set your B63 S apart from stock C63 AMGs. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-c63-amg/low/">BRABUS C63 AMG</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/000_brabusc63amgab_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/001_brabusc63amgab_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/002_brabusc63amgab_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/003_brabusc63amgab_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-c63-amg/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/004_brabusc63amgab_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.brabus.com/index_en.html">BRABUS</a>, <a href="http://www.emercedesbenz.com/Sep08/05_001371_Now_With_More_Power_BRABUS_Tunes_The_Mercedes_Benz_C63_AMG.html">eMercedesBenz</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/05/brabus-c63-amg-adds-73-hp-to-super-sedan/">BRABUS C63 AMG adds 73 HP to super sedan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 10:29:00 EST. In fact, the goal of the modern-day race is not to finish in the least amount of time possible, but to finish with a specific average speed; 61 miles per hour, in the case of the 2008 event. So, while it may be initially shocking to hear that this year's race was won by a BRABUS smart fortwo, it actually makes sense considering that the smart was able to run the entire race averaging 35 miles per gallon. Therefore, while the other high-powered competitors were constantly stopping to refill their gas tanks, first-time competitors David Ward and Adrian Hull of the U.K. were able to motor along and wave as they gingerly passed them by. Score one for efficiency!<br /><br />[Source: smart via <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/08/08/brabus-smart-fortwo-wins-latest-cannonball-run/">AutoblogGreen</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/09/hold-on-a-sec-brabus-smart-fortwo-wins-european-cannonball-ru/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hold on a sec... But Brabus has built its name on taking things to the illogical extreme, and its modification of the new SLR Roadster is no different.<br /><br />Equipped with a new set of cams, exhaust and a system to cool the fuel, the blown V8 now produces an additional 23 HP that's sent through the stock transmission and down to a clutch-type LSD. 0-to-60 times drop down to 3.6 seconds and the top speed has been increased to 209 mph.<br /><br />A new carbon fiber front spoiler and rear diffuser, tuned by Brabus in the wind tunnel, reduces lift at speed, while the factory rolling stock has been ditched in favor of 9.5x20-inch wheels in front and 11.5x20-inch hoops in the rear. Inside, the Teutonic tuners offer well-to-do buyers nearly unlimited upholstery designs, along with a flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated paddles to swap cogs on the McMerc's automatic gearbox.<br /><br />The full rundown on Brabus' tweaks can be viewed in the press release after the jump, and naturally, there's a corresponding gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-mclaren-slr-roadster/low/">Brabus Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Roadster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-mclaren-slr-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/brabus_slr_roadster-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-mclaren-slr-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/brabus_slr_roadster-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-mclaren-slr-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/brabus_slr_roadster-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-mclaren-slr-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/brabus_slr_roadster-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-mercedes-benz-mclaren-slr-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/brabus_slr_roadster-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/30/essen-2007-mercedes-benz-slr-mclaren-roadster-by-brabus/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Essen 2007: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster by Brabus</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/30/essen-2007-mercedes-benz-slr-mclaren-roadster-by-brabus/">Essen 2007: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster by Brabus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 30 Nov 2007 14:52:00 EST. <p>Remember the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/30/video-what-does-evil-look-like-at-speed-the-maybach-exelero/">Maybach Exelero</a>? The ultra-premium marque from Merceceds-Benz built it almost two years ago as a high-speed test vehicle based on its Maybach 57 luxury sedan, but unfortunately never offered production versions to the public. To the rescue comes Brabus, those whacky German tuners who give the go-fast treatment to everything produced by the three-pointed star, from the Smart ForTwo all the way up to this 730-hp limousine.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-maybach-57-nardo/500044/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/maybach-brabus-2_web.jpg" /></a>Like the Exelero, Brabus' monster is based on the Maybach 57 and was built in order to achieve the highest speeds attainable. To get there, Brabus tuned the Maybach's twin-turbo V12 to the same standard as the CLS-based <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/22/brabus-rocket-bests-own-speed-record/">Brabus Rocket</a> speed record car: that means boosting power from 550 hp to 730, thanks to an increase in displacement from 5.5 liters to 6.3, coupled with a new crankshaft, pistons, cylinder heads... the works. The turbos were beefed up, and along with the intercoolers, a custom exhaust was installed and the ECU was reprogrammed. </p>
<p>The result is a top speed of 330.2 km/h (205.2 mph in American speak) achieved at the same Nardo test track in Italy where the Exelero was put through its places. A far cry from the 218.4 mph achieved by the Exelero, but not to shabby in its own right. And here you thought the S versions of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/02/28/the-ultimate-in-parts-sharing-maybach-57-s/">Maybach 57</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/06/sportyacht-maybach-62-s-to-debut-at-beijing-show/">62</a> were obscene enough....</p>

We discuss our favorite picks, as well as touching on some of the numerous highlights from the monster-sized show. We got a glimpse of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-jaguar-xf-in-the-feline-flesh/">Jaguar XF</a> in person, and it's better in person, but can it save Jaguar? BMW unveiled the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-bmw-x6-revealed/">X6</a>, it's own AMC Spirit ripoff, not to be left behind by the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/21/shanghai-motor-show-audi-cross-coupe-quattro-live-shots/">Audi Cross Coupe Quattro</a> from Shanghai. We continue on about exotic sheetmetal from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=brabus">Brabus</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=schnitzer">Schnitzer</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/bentley/">Bentley</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/aston-martin/">Aston Martin</a>, to name a few. On the more mundane tip, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-the-new-mazda6-brings-sexy-back-to-the-midsize-m/">Mazda 6</a> rocked, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-chevy-aveo-falls-down-ugly-tree-in-europe-hits/">Aveo</a> was ugly, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-dodge-journey-drops-in-germany/">Journey</a> landed on its face, and could we please, please knock it off with the front quarter panel vents? After Alex's speed-round wrapup, we discuss a solitary piece of non-Frankfurt news, the Jeep <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/14/jeep-j8-marks-brands-return-to-military-duty/">J8</a>. Yes, it's awesome, no, you can't buy one. Damn, that's stupid, Chrysler.
