After nominating 35 eligible contestants, the international committee of jurists named their seven finalists for the European Car of the Year Award.
Two of the options said to join what will be an extensive list on the coming 2016 BMW 7 Series are a Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, said to be a nod going all the way back to the Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo showed off at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, and a "3CM" option code which equates to a Leather Engine Cover.
The Beijing Motor Show is just a couple of weeks away, and BMW wouldn't miss out on the opportunity to show off its latest wares to one of its most vital markets. So when the doors open in Beijing, BMW will showcase the new 2 Series Active Tourer, 2 Series Coupe, M3 and M4, 4 Series Gran Coupe and X4. That is all about to change, however, as BMW announced that it will unveil the 2014 740Ld xDrive at the Chicago Auto Show before sales commence later in the spring.
Despite what we imagine is a lot of pleading among well-heeled BMW fans, the German brand still won't build an M7 to do battle with the Audi S8 and Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG. Instead, the most potent 7 Series money can buy is the 760Li, a rear-driver with a 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V12 that can churn out 535 horsepower (if that's normal, just imagine what an M7 would be like).
