There are 23 drivers on Team BFGoodrich, but only six of them will get to pilot the team buggy in the SCORE Baja 1000. Two of the six will be automatically entered after being crowned champions at the SCCA National Runoffs. The other four, well, they'll be relying on you: BFG is letting fans vote for drivers to fill the other seats.

Set up almost like a Race of Champions gathering, there are plenty of drivers on the list that you'll know, many of whom aren't specialists in the trials of Baja like Samuel Hubinette and Kevin King. Then there are stalwarts like Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles veteran Emily Miller and Baja hand Rod Hall. For those not headed to Baja, there's a chance to head to Skip Barber Racing School - but that also depends on a <strike>snap</strike> click of your fingers.

You can head to BFG's Facebook page to place your vote. If your driver gets in, you might get a shoutout if you're lucky, but we wouldn't expect a share of the winnings. Follow the jump for a presser with all the details.
Continue reading BFGoodrich lets fans pick drivers for the Baja 1000 with 'Select the Seats'

BFGoodrich lets fans pick drivers for the Baja 1000 with 'Select the Seats' originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 02 Aug 2011 08:01:00 EST.
Our National Parks are American treasures, and one company wants you to get out there and explore them. We saw its first creation, the Xplore Adventure Series FJ Cruiser, at last year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas. That vehicle is going to be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to the National Parks Foundation. Xplore isn't limiting itself to just the FJ Cruiser, however, and parts will soon be available for various Jeep, Ram Truck, Toyota, Ford, GM, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

The parts are available at local dealerships and range from the basic to the burly. Stage one of the Xplore series of parts includes interior upgrades produced with the help of Katzkin. Stage two upgrades feature BFGoodrich off-road tires, aluminum wheels, Bilstein shocks and a Magnaflow stainless-steel cat-back exhaust. If you want to push further into the woods, Stage three bolts on winches, a roof rack, rock rails, a rooftop tent and upgraded lighting. There's also a built-to-order Stage 4 for Jeep and Toyota vehicles, which brings builder TLC into the mix and adds custom paint choices as well as electronic upgrades and expedition-level equipment.

Keeping with the theme of the Xplore name, each Xplore vehicle comes with a one-year National Parks pass, membership in the Xplore club and a subscription to the Xplore Lifestyle magazine.

Hurst Redline Series Camaro - Click above for high-res image gallery

The gang at Hurst Performance Vehicles are unleashing their first ever turbocharged machine in honor of the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the BFGoodrich Radial T/A. Only 50 of the Redline Series Hurst Camaros are to be produced annually with each powered by a force-fed 3.6-liter V6. Power will flow to 18-inch Hurst T1 wheels with new Radial T/A Spec tires.

Hurst installs what it calls a "remoted-mounted" turbocharger on its modified exhaust, which actually doesn't sound like a very good idea if you're concerned about lag. Output should be about 360 horsepower and 320 pound-feet at the rear wheels - a 50-percent bump from stock. Inside, the turbocharged Camaro gets a pistol grip shift lever, custom leather upholstery and floor mats and an optional gauge package.

The Redline Series Camaro will sticker in the mid-$50,000 range depending on the options selected.

We don't exactly envy the ad gurus charged with marketing tires. While a new set of sticky rubber may get our imaginations fired up in a hurry, the rest of the motoring public could typically care less about compounds, tread blocks and treadwear ratings. Despite being one of the most important components of any vehicle, tires just don't get the love or attention they deserve. That sort of apathy is exactly why most tire manufacturers are forced to get creative when it comes to rolling out new ad campaigns.

BFGoodrich is attempting to fire up some sales with its new Bolt On campaign. Instead of blathering on about stopping distances or cornering ability, the company has gone through the trouble of attempting to demonstrate just how big of an impact a new set of tires can make for a vehicle by using body modification as a metaphor. Trippy. Hit the jump to see the first of a series of ads as well as a behind the scenes look at the making of the spots.

It's been a busy year for Hurst Performance Vehicles. They launched their limited-edition Dodge Challenger at SEMA last November, followed by the 50th Anniversary Dodge Viper, and most recently, they announced the addition of the Pontiac G8 to their lineup. Come mid-September, though, you can add one more to that list. Hurst and BFGoodrich tires have teamed up to create a one-off 2010 Mustang GT Convertible that will serve as the pace car for the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge race at Miller Motorsports Park on September 19. Afterward, the car will attend various events including SEMA, and will eventually be auctioned off for charity at the start of 2010.

Following the same themes as other Hurst vehicles, the Mustang has a spec sheet that reads nearly identical to the Challenger. The exterior gets a white and gold paint scheme accented by Hurst 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich KDW tires. A supercharger lies underneath the hood (although it's a Roush roots-type rather than a Vortech centrifugal blower), that pushes the 4.6-liter V8 to 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft torque. Eibach suspension components, a Magnaflow exhaust system, Hurst Competition/Plus short throw shifter, and Katzkin leather interior round out the list of modifications. Read more about the Hurst Ford Mustang Pace Car in the press release after the jump.

[Source: Hurst Performance Vehicles]
Continue reading 2010 Hurst Mustang to serve pace duties for Ford Racing Mustang Challenge

2010 Hurst Mustang to serve pace duties for Ford Racing Mustang Challenge originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 01 Sep 2009 14:28:00 EST. That could be the reason Team Mopar and BFGoodrich utilized the pigskin in its latest TV ad showcasing controlled drifting. Hit the jump to see Samuel Hubinette pilot the Mopar drift Charger to and through a tee'd-up football as the rear quarter panel plays placekicker. Though not as cool as the commercial that shows Hubinette sliding the Charger through an aircraft hanger, it's definitely worth a look.

[Source: Streetfire]
Continue reading VIDEO: Hubinette's BFG Charger kicks like a mule

VIDEO: Hubinette's BFG Charger kicks like a mule originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 12:12:00 EST. It shows Team Mopar's Samuel Hubinette piloting the Charger drift car into, through, and out of an airplane hangar. What's particularly cool is that you can follow the tire marks on the ground from previous takes and/or practice runs as the car does its thing. The superscript at the bottom of the screen as it begins reads "Closed Course. Professional Driver. Do Not Attempt."

Professional driver, indeed. Hubinette's nasty. Follow the jump for the spot. SPEED TV seems to still air it pretty regularly, too.

[Source: YouTube]
Continue reading That looks like fun!
