<br />
Now here's an option box we'd gladly check. <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/audi">Audi</a> will be offering its Titanium Package on <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a4">A4</a> (both sedan and Avant), <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a5">A5 Coupe</a>, <a href="http://autoblog.com/model/s4">S4</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/s5">S5 Coupe</a> models for the 2011 model year. Essentially, this removes the bright chrome trim on the grille surround and window treatment, and adds some large, attractive wheels and some sportier interior touches. Hot stuff.<br />
<br />
The exact Titanium specs vary from model to model, but they include things like 19-inch RS-style wheels, piano black interior trim, sport suspension and sport seats. Exact pricing hasn't been released just yet, but customers will soon be able to order these sexier Audis from dealerships in the near future, with the first examples hitting the streets in the near future. For the full details on what each Titanium package includes, head over to <a href="http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Audi_News/article_6065.shtml">Fourtitude</a> for the complete listing.<br />

<br />
Perish the thought, haters! The above <a href="http://autoblog.com/infiniti/mkt">Lincoln MKT</a> is getting its roof caved in not on aesthetic grounds, but rather to test its ability to survive a rollover accident. If you haven't guessed by now, the MKT did so well in the roof-crush test that the <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/iihs">Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)</a> handed parent company <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/ford">Ford</a> a much coveted <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/top+safety+pick">Top Safety Pick</a> award. Actually, the IIHS handed FoMoCo a hefty total of <em>five</em> rollover-related Top Safety Pick awards. However we should note that one of the Ford products earning top marks is in fact the soon to be extinct <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/mercury">Mercury Millan</a>, so really Ford only nabbed four - but who's counting? Other good-to-rollover-in Ford products include the <a href="http://autoblog.com/ford/flex">Flex</a>, <a href="http://autoblog.com/ford/fusion">Fusion</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/infiniti/mkz">Lincoln MKZ</a>.<br />
<br />
Speaking of thick-sculled corporate cousins, <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/audi">Audi</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/volkswagen">Volkswagen</a> were handed a couple of Top Safety Picks, too. The 2010 Audi <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a4">A4</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/q5">Q5</a> as well as the Volkswagen <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/vw+jetta+sportwagen/">Jetta SportWagen</a> all earned top marks from the IIHS. As far as the Jetta goes, that's just one more reason to choose wagon over sedan. Finally, the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/tucson">2010 Hyundai Tucson</a> gets the coveted TSP, and having recently driven the overly-stiff compact CUV, we're not at all surprised that its roof holds up to crushing. To get the dirt on the IIHS's methodology/read the press release, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/09/iihs-awards-top-safety-picks-to-audi-ford-hyundai-and-vw-on-st/#continued">make the jump</a>.<br />

<br />
The all-new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/a8">A8</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/07/2011-audi-q7-gets-three-new-v6s-eight-speed-transmission-in-ger/">updated Q7</a> won't be the only vehicles in <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/audi">Audi's</a> line-up to benefit from the automaker's new eight-speed gearbox. According to dealer order guides released for the 2011 model year, the octo-cog-swapper is set to proliferate throughout the Audi line-up in the next year, with the automaker aiming for around 70% of it U.S. sales volume to come equipped with the new gearbox.<br />
<br />
For the 2011 model year, the <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a4">A4</a> 2.0 TFSI quattro sedan and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/01/2009-audi-a4-sedan-and-wagon-priced/">Avant</a> will come packing the eight-speed tranny, along with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/a5">A5</a> 2.0 TFSI quattro coupe and cabriolet (the manual six-speed will only be available on the coupe). In addition, the revised Q7, with its new high- and low-output 3.0-liter supercharged V6s (cribbed from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/s4">S4</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/a6">A6</a>), will replace the 3.6-liter V6 and 4.2-liter V8 for the 2011 model year. Both engines, along with the new 3.0-liter TDI, will come equipped with the eight-speed auto.<br />
<br />
Finally, Audi quietly revealed the 2.0 TFSI inline-four-equipped Q5 at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/new-york-auto-show/">New York Auto Show</a>, and part of the new package will also include the eight-speed 'box.<br />
<br />
Sales of the eight-speed automatic-equipped models will begin this fall, each delivering improved fuel economy, quicker downshifts and, thanks to its compact packaging, no additional weight gain over the standard six-speed tiptronic.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2009 Audi A4 - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
Over the course of the last 20 years, each new <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/audi">Audi</a> model has weighed around 10 percent more than its predecessor, but that all changed when the all-new <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a4">2009 Audi A4</a> (B8) debuted last year. The mid-size sedan gained less than 100 pounds over the previous model (B7), despite growing in every possible dimension. And when the next A4 arrives in five year's time, Audi claims it will weigh <em>less</em> than the current model.<br />
<br />
Heinrich Timm, head of Audi's Lightweight Design Center, told us earlier today that the next generation A4 - likely due out in 2015 - will shed some 150 kg (330 pounds) over the B8. The move to drop the A4's curb weight is part of a larger initiative by Audi to reduce the tonnage of its future vehicles by using more aluminum, innovative structural techniques and composites.<br />
<br />
And the benefits of weight reduction aren't just limited to fuel consumption and emissions. As any gearhead knows, weight affects every aspect of the vehicle's dynamics - from handling to braking to acceleration. For every 220 pounds lost, a vehicle can accelerate to 60 mph in 20 fewer feet. Lose 440 pounds and the amount of runway saved nearly doubles. <br />
<br />
While other automakers are employing high tensile steel to increase rigidity and reduce weight, the stuff costs nearly three-times more than a normal stamped piece. By limiting the use of tensile steel, the overall cost savings will allow Audi to utilize more exotic materials - carbon fiber in particular - to reduce weight and further enhance the driving experience.<br />
<br />
As the father of the spaceframe, Timm knows all too well that weight reduction is the key to the next generation of automobiles. Not only will it decrease fuel consumption, increase safety and pay dividends for the driver, it's the only way automakers can simultaneously meet new emission standards while delivering the content and driving experience customers expect. Timm says, "We want to bring it to a higher volume," and the next generation A4 is sure to be the first in a long line of lightened Audis.<br />

<br />
It's best to aim high, right? While most of the automotive world (<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/16/2010-suzuki-kizashi-first-drive/">ourselves included</a>) are busy comparing the rather wonderful <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/suzuki/kizashi">Suzuki </a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/suzuki/kizashi">Kizashi</a> with logical competitors like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/volkswagen/jetta">Volkswagen Jetta</a> - not to mention larger cars like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/accord">Honda Accord</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/mazda6">Mazda6</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/fusion">Ford Fusion</a> - it seems the Japanese automaker itself has its sights set a bit higher... all the way up to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/a4">Audi A4</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/acura/tsx">Acura TSX</a>, point of fact.<br />
<br />
Called the "Kizashi Test Drive Challenge" incentive program, Suzuki is offering sport sedan buyers $100 if they test drive the Kizashi first and still end up purchasing either a 2010 Audi A4 2.0T or four-cylinder 2010 Acura TSX within 10 days of the test drive. The program ends runs through January 31, 2010. Says Koichi Suzuki, executive vice president of American Suzuki Automotive Operations: <br />
<blockquote>
<div><em>With styling, performance characteristics, luxury features and a new advanced All-Wheel-Drive system on par with the Audi A4 and Acura TSX, we're excited to extend this unique offer to consumers across the country, providing potential sport sedan buyers another reason to consider the all-new Kizashi-at a substantial savings. We're definitely putting Kizashi's premium without the premium moniker to the test.</em></div>
</blockquote>Like we said, aim high. Read the full set of terms and conditions in the complete press release pasted after the jump.<br />

<br />
We'll just come right out and say it: Audi lost the plot with the last generation S4. Unlike the twin-turbocharged V6-equipped B5, its B6 and B7 brethren did little to stoke the flames in our collective hearts. The "S" simply stood for, "I paid more for a bigger engine and some additional trim." Needless to say, that sort of behavior doesn't cut it when you're battling it out with one of the most competent sports sedan of the last decade: the BMW 335i. <br />
<br />
So with the all-new A4 (B8) comes the 2010 Audi S4 - the most credible contender to BMW's hugely competent middle child. This time, Audi brings back the boost. And it's about damn time...<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Audi A3 1.6 TDI - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> Audi has kicked off its latest efficiency marathon in northern Norway this week with a fleet of A3, A4, A5, Q7 and TT models to demonstrate what they can do in the real world. Leading the pack in terms of minimal fuel consumption is the new A3 1.6 TDI. On the road in Norway in the opening stage, the drivers managed to squeeze out an astounding 78.4 mpg average from the 1.6-liter diesel engine. Next up was the A4 2.0 TDI e sedan, which went an average of 60.3 miles on every gallon (U.S.) of diesel.<br /> <br /> In addition to the high efficiency models, Audi also opted to include several high performance models this time around to show that even they can get very good fuel efficiency when driven sedately. The 340-horsepower TT-RS averaged 32.22 mpg, while the utterly absurd <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/audi-efficiency-marathon-a-to-b/full/#24">Q7 V12 TDI</a> with its 500 horsepower diesel V12 managed a startling 27.03 mpg. That's nearly as good as what we achieved with the V6-powered Q7 TDI on last year's <a href="http://audimileagemarathon.com/">U.S. Mileage Marathon</a>, so it's not too shabby for a big SUV that would probably pull a house off of its foundation<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/audi-efficiency-marathon-a-to-b">Audi Efficiency Marathon A to B</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/audi-efficiency-marathon-a-to-b/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ab090122_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/audi-efficiency-marathon-a-to-b/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ab090115_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/audi-efficiency-marathon-a-to-b/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ab090111_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/audi-efficiency-marathon-a-to-b/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ab090079_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/audi-efficiency-marathon-a-to-b/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ab090031_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/25/audi-a3-1-6-tdi-shines-during-opening-stages-of-efficiency-chall/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Audi A3 1.6 TDI shines during opening stages of efficiency challenge, scores 78.4 mpg (U.S.)!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/25/audi-a3-1-6-tdi-shines-during-opening-stages-of-efficiency-chall/">Audi A3 1.6 TDI shines during opening stages of efficiency challenge, scores 78.4 mpg (U.S.)!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 25 Sep 2009 18:29:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Audi A4 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel Quattro</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
The 3.0-liter, 240-hp diesel that first served in the Audi Q7 has been assigned to duty in the Audi A4. We drove the 3.0 in the Q7 during last year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/AudiMileageMarathon/">Audi Mileage Marathon</a>, and both mileage and power didn't disappoint. Put into the A4, the oil burner with 369 lb-ft should shine like Alpha Centauri.<br />
<br />
Audi says it will get you to sixty in 6.2 seconds with the six-speed Tiptronic and return 35 mpg at the same time as it already meets the Euro 6 standards coming in 2014. It's unlikely we'll get the treat in this corner of the Western Hemisphere, but that doesn't mean we won't keep looking out for it... especially as an Avant... with those wheels...<br />

<br />Audi will be launching at least three new models next month at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Frankfurt-Motor-Show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, two of which seem like they have a good chance of coming to North America and one that doesn't. The A4 TDI clean diesel will make its debut at the German show with the latest edition of the firm's 3.0-liter diesel V6. While the TDI V6 has been available in the current generation A4 since it launched early last year, the new one adds the same 2,000 BAR common rail fuel system and urea injection found on the Q7 and VW Touareg now available in the U.S. market. The V6 TDI A4 has always seemed like a natural fit for the torque loving American market and it now seems likely to arrive, especially since the gas V6 was discontinued for 2010. In sedan form, it's rated at 34.6 mpg (U.S.) <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2008/10/27/in-the-autobloggreen-garage-audi-a5-3-0-tdi-6mt/">which is consistent</a> <a href="http://www.greenfuelsforecast.com/ArticleDetails.php?articleID=656">with what we've seen driving the existing A4. <br /></a><br />The A3 gets a new 1.2-liter TFSI (turbocharged and direct injected) gas engine with 105 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque. This little engine gets the A3 to 42.8 mpg (U.S.) although the 0-62 mph time is a more relaxed 11.1 seconds. This one could probably pass U.S. emissions with ease, but given Audi's premium position in the market, they are less likely to offer it here anytime soon. <br /><br />Finally, Audi will also publicly show the new A5 Sportback which it has already said will not be offered in the States. The five-door hatch A5 will get the same 333 hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 going into the new S4 to start, but it will also likely get the other engines available in the A4/A5 eventually. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/abg-first-drive-2008-audi-a4-3-0-tdi-quattro">ABG First Drive: 2008 Audi A4 3.0 TDI Quattro</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/abg-first-drive-2008-audi-a4-3-0-tdi-quattro/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/04/a4-tdi-1280-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/abg-first-drive-2008-audi-a4-3-0-tdi-quattro/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/04/a4-tdi-1280-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/abg-first-drive-2008-audi-a4-3-0-tdi-quattro/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/04/a4-tdi-1280-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/abg-first-drive-2008-audi-a4-3-0-tdi-quattro/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/04/a4-tdi-1280-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/abg-first-drive-2008-audi-a4-3-0-tdi-quattro/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/04/a4-tdi-1280-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<br /><strong><em><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></em></strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/28/frankfurt-preview-audi-to-intro-clean-a4-tdi-a3-tfsi-coming-t/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Frankfurt Preview: Audi to intro clean A4 TDI, A3 TFSI, coming to America?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/28/frankfurt-preview-audi-to-intro-clean-a4-tdi-a3-tfsi-coming-t/">Frankfurt Preview: Audi to intro clean A4 TDI, A3 TFSI, coming to America?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 28 Aug 2009 11:00:00 EST. <br />
The government, dealers and consumers don't seem to know exactly what's going on with the C.A.R.S. (Cash for Clunkers) program, but Audi doesn't want to lose any momentum and has decided it's the right time to "enhance the deal even further." <br />
<br />
From now until the end of August, if you want to swap your clunker for one of 18 eligible Audis, the Ingostadt marque will give you another $1,000 on top of the C.A.R.S. rebate. According to Audi, the allowable models include iterations of the A3, A4, TT, and Q5 from 2008 and 2009. However, there aren't any approved 2010 models, but if you've been thinking about something with four rings on it, August could be your month. Hit the jump for all the details from Audi.<br /><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/06/audi-throws-another-1-000-onto-c4c-incentives/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Audi throws another $1,000 onto C4C incentives</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/06/audi-throws-another-1-000-onto-c4c-incentives/">Audi throws another $1,000 onto C4C incentives</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Aug 2009 17:58:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Sport Wheels grilles for Audis -- Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Sport Wheels presents its latest aftermarket accessory as "an interesting alternative to the standard grille." In this case, we can give the company a gold star for truth in advertising. The range of offerings spans the Audi model line from A3 (pictured) to Q7, with only difference being the addition of vertical elements in vehicles with larger grilles. Well, that and an increased resemblance to animals described by the word "baleen."<br /><br />The grilles start at &euro;530 ($756 U.S.) and go up to &euro;630 ($899 U.S.), and then you can add another &euro;250 ($357 U.S.) for mounting if you don't want to touch the grille yourself. If, for some reason, you want the grille to match your car's finish, that'll be another &euro;150 ($214 U.S.). Which is a lot of money to make your car look like this, but hey, it's your money.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sport-wheels-audi-grilles">Sport Wheels Audi Grilles</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sport-wheels-audi-grilles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/05_sw_audi_grille_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sport-wheels-audi-grilles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/07_sw_audi_grille_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sport-wheels-audi-grilles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/09_sw_audi_grille_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sport-wheels-audi-grilles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/11_sw_audi_grille_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sport-wheels-audi-grilles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/13_sw_audi_grille_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.sport-wheels.de/html/angebote.php">Sport Wheels</a> (<a href="http://74.125.19.132/translate_c?hl=en&amp;sl=auto&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http://www.sport-wheels.de/html/angebote.php&amp;rurl=translate.google.com&amp;usg=ALkJrhivRxFO2ipxyyKSB4CjeDDsE-4iuw">translated</a>)]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/03/sport-wheels-offers-unfortunate-rhinoplasty-for-your-audi/">Sport Wheels offers unfortunate rhinoplasty for your Audi</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 14:41:00 EST. Yes, Guiness has indeed been notified. Powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that's been converted to run on the compressed gas, the silver Audi sedan was clocked at an impressive 226.55 mph (364.6 kilometers per hour). Previously, the record was held by a Bugatti that was reportedly 20 kph slower.<br /><br />Amazingly, the car reportedly wasn't even running at full capacity. It seems that this particular powerplant can reliably put out over 800 horsepower, but was dialed back a few notches to around 700 horsepower to keep the all-wheel-drive Audi's transmission from showering the Papenburg, Lower Saxony, race track with a pile of gear-shaped shrapnel. One key reason the powerplant was able to make such prodigious power is because biogas carries an octane rating of over 120. Us? we like to think it was down to the BBS-aping aerodynamic wheel covers. Click past the break for the awkwardly translated press release.<br /><br />[Source: Hohenester Sport]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/28/226-mph-audi-a4-beats-bugatti-to-set-world-record-for-fastest-ca/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>227 MPH Audi A4 beats Bugatti to set world record for fastest car powered by biogas</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/28/226-mph-audi-a4-beats-bugatti-to-set-world-record-for-fastest-ca/">227 MPH Audi A4 beats Bugatti to set world record for fastest car powered by biogas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 28 May 2009 16:29:00 EST. Autoblog reader Conor sent us this photo of Santa Monica Blvd. in Southern California where a billboard advertising the new Audi A4 has apparently been up for months. The ad throws down a gauntlet at the feet of BMW with an image of the new A4 and the statement, "Your move, BMW." Whether by design or by happenstance, the Munich-based brand recently made its move, hoisting up a billboard across the street that displays the high-performance M3 and the word "Checkmate." Ouch. We're sure Audi will have more to say when the RS4/5 arrives sometime in the near future, but for now, BMW appears to have the final word in this billboard chess match.<br /><br />As you'll likely remember, these two brands are no strangers to duking it out with each other in advertisements, having gone <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/08/ad-fight-audi-bmw-and-subaru-take-each-other-on/">toe-to-toe with each other and Subaru</a> in late 2006 over which brand had the most prestigious "Of the Year" award. <em>Thanks for the tip, Conor.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/13/audi-bmw-ad-war-takes-to-the-streets-of-socal/">Audi, BMW ad war taken to the streets of SoCal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 13 Apr 2009 18:59:00 EST. <br />What do you do with an old model when you've already replaced it with a newer one? Well, most automakers would simply trash it and move on. Not Volkswagen though. Instead of discarding the previous Audi A4, the bean-counters at VW Group corporate headquarters in Wolfsburg simply <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/27/new-seat-exeo-is-an-old-audi-a4/">passed it on</a> to another division: SEAT. In this case, the Spanish subsidiary that was lacking a flagship model.<br /><br />Called the Exeo, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/30/seat-prices-the-strike-old-audi-a4-strike-new-exeo/">sedan variant</a> already took its curtain call (we wouldn't quite call it a debut) at last year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/03/paris-2008-strike-previous-gen-audi-a4-strike-seat-exeo/">Paris Salon</a>, but since the A4 came in both four-door and Avant wagon forms, SEAT is now preparing to relaunch the Exeo wagon in Geneva. Called the Exeo Sport Tourer, it's pretty much exactly like the Exeo sedan, only with an extended roof. Engine options - including a 198 horsepower turbo four and common-rail turbodiesels in 141 and 168 hp flavors - will carry over. SEAT hasn't released photos just yet, but has given us a video, which we've placed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/video-seat-exeo-sport-tourer-to-debut-in-geneva/">after the jump</a> - just in case you've forgotten what a badge-engineered, last-generation Audi A4 Avant looked like.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://es.autoblog.com/2009/02/04/pre-salon-de-ginebra-seat-exeo-st-primer-video/">Autoblog Spanish</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/video-seat-exeo-sport-tourer-to-debut-in-geneva/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Seat Exeo Sport Tourer to debut in Geneva</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/video-seat-exeo-sport-tourer-to-debut-in-geneva/">VIDEO: Seat Exeo Sport Tourer to debut in Geneva</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Feb 2009 18:19:00 EST. The WCotY is determined by the votes of over 50 journalists from countries the world over (none of which works for Autoblog). Some of the finalists include the award-hoarding <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/23/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-nissan-gt-r/">Nissan GT-R</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/05/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-jaguar-xf-supercharged/">Jaguar XF</a>, plus strong entries like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/08/first-drive-2009-ford-fiesta/">Ford Fiesta</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/26/fiat-chrysler-partnership-will-bring-7-new-models-to-u-s/">Fiat 500</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/06/first-drive-2008-audi-a4-on-the-autobahn-and-in-ibiza/">Audi A4</a>. Judges will next narrow their choice to the top three vehicles by March 9, and the winner will be announced at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> on April 9. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/27/top-10-finalists-for-world-car-of-the-year-announced/">Hit the jump</a> to view the the WCotY finalists, along with a short press release.<br /><br />[Source: World Car of the Year]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/27/top-10-finalists-for-world-car-of-the-year-announced/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Top 10 finalists for World Car of the Year announced</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/27/top-10-finalists-for-world-car-of-the-year-announced/">Top 10 finalists for World Car of the Year announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 27 Jan 2009 10:57:00 EST. <br />Luxury sports sedans are made all over the world, but nobody does 'em quite like the Germans. The BMW 3 Series has stood as the champion of the segment for decades, but not anymore. According to government records of new vehicle registration, the Audi A4 was the best-selling premium car, beating out the 3-Series, along with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.<br /><br />By the numbers, 98,714 A4's were sold in Germany over the course of 2008, making it the second most popular new car in Germany behind the Volkswagen Golf. But lest you think Germans are enamored only with Audi's new A4, which was introduced last year, the A6 and TT also topped their segments, contributing to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/09/one-million-audi-fans-cant-be-wrong/">strongest growth</a> (or weakest decline) in the German market and across Western Europe. The innovators in all-wheel traction and aluminum construction saw their entire market share rise last year by 0.8% to a total of 8.1% of the German new car market, details of which you can read in the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-audi-a4">First Drive: 2009 Audi A4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-audi-a4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/a4-ibiza-12801_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-audi-a4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/a4-ibiza-12802_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-audi-a4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/a4-ibiza-12803_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-audi-a4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/a4-ibiza-128010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-audi-a4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/a4-ibiza-128011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi via <a href="http:// http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2009/01/audi-a4-trumps-bmw-3-series-as-best-selling-premium-car-in-germany.html">AutoGuide.com</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/audi-a4-outsells-bmw-3-series-in-germany/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Audi A4 outsells BMW 3-Series in Germany</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/audi-a4-outsells-bmw-3-series-in-germany/">Audi A4 outsells BMW 3-Series in Germany</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 08:28:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for more high-res pics of the Audi A4L</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Audi has just introduced a long-wheelbase version of its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/27/new-audi-a4-appears-on-web/">A4</a> for the Chinese market, joining the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/20/audi-gives-backseat-passengers-more-entertainment-in-shanghai/">long-wheelbase A6</a> that has been available in China since 2000. While many automakers have recognized the Chinese desire to have a little extra length, this is the first time a vehicle in this size class has been elongated. Labeled as a premium B segment car in China, the Audi A4L's wheelbase is 2.36 inches longer than the standard A4, most of which gets added to rear-seat legroom. The A4L will be built in Changchun, China and will feature a chassis specially designed to handle the sometimes-rough Chinese road conditions. Engine options will be the 180-hp 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder and the 265-hp 3.2 FSI six-cylinder. The Audi A4L will debut at the Guangzhou Motor Show on November 18, and should be in Chinese dealerships by January 2009. <span style="font-style: italic;">Full press release after the jump.<br /><br style="font-style: italic;" /></span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a4l">2009 Audi A4L</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a4l/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/audia4l---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a4l/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/audia4l---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/audi-intros-long-wheelbase-a4-for-china/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Audi intros long-wheelbase A4L for China</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/audi-intros-long-wheelbase-a4-for-china/">Audi intros long-wheelbase A4L for China</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 17 Nov 2008 13:28:00 EST. To do that, the four-ringed automaker plans to extend its Christmas shutdown, a funny way to celebrate Audi's best global sales year ever, anticipated to crest one million units.<br /><br />While the luxury competition has struggled in the rough and tumble US market, Audi has seen sales gains, which is a big reason global sales are up 3.3% year over year. Audi has been so successful of late that it came within 100 units of (the much larger) Mercedes-Benz in global October sales, while BMW is also within 10,000 units. The new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/06/first-drive-2008-audi-a4-on-the-autobahn-and-in-ibiza/">A4 sedan and wagon</a> are helping matters, and the upcoming Q5 crossover is waiting in the wings to keep things interesting in 2009. <br /><br />With all that good news, why cut back production? Audi Chief Executive Rupert Stadler called the German automaker's performance "increasingly influenced by declining markets." In other words, Audi wants to approach the global sales decline with the novel notion of cutting production <em>before</em> cars start sitting on dealer lots for months on end. Makes perfect sense to us.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssConsumerGoodsAndRetailNews/idUSLA21233820081110">Reuters</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/11/despite-strong-growth-audi-plans-to-slow-production/">Despite strong growth, Audi plans to slow production</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 11 Nov 2008 07:58:00 EST. Never mind the opportunity to make an easy(-ier) profit - something that would have any automaker quaking with giddyness right now - the word "Exeo" right now translates as "It just ain't right!" Those of you who have seen the previous A4 won't be surprised by anything here, except perhaps the richness and quality of the suede interior. We can assure you it was impressive. The mirror housings are neat, too, but standard fare for SEAT. Based on the approval ratings of the old A4 by the time it retired, our guess is that <em>new</em> customers the Exeo is meant to attract won't be disappointed that they found their way to SEAT through these four doors. Check out the press release that makes the old new again after the jump, and our gallery of high-res photos below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-2008-seat-exeo">Paris 2008: SEAT Exeo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-2008-seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/00_exeoparis_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-2008-seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_exeoparis_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-2008-seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/02_exeoparis_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-2008-seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/03_exeoparis_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-2008-seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/04_exeoparis_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/seat-exeo">SEAT Exeo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/011008-b-sea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/011008-c-sea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/011008-d-sea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/011008-e-sea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/seat-exeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/011008-a-sea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/03/paris-2008-strike-previous-gen-audi-a4-strike-seat-exeo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Paris 2008: <strike>Previous Gen Audi A4</strike> Seat Exeo</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/03/paris-2008-strike-previous-gen-audi-a4-strike-seat-exeo/">Paris 2008: <strike>Previous Gen Audi A4</strike> Seat Exeo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 03 Oct 2008 20:27:00 EST. <br />Audi's parent company Volkswagen already produces some of the cleanest-burning, most fuel-miserly diesel engines in the world. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/19/first-drive-2009-volkswagen-jetta-tdi/">Jetta TDI</a> was recently released in the U.S. and has been making waves for its hybrid-like efficiency. So it's natural that Audi would want to show off its green credentials with a new diesel sedan of its own, and it has done so with the A4 TDI concept e, introduced at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/paris-motor-show/">Paris Motor Show</a>. Based on the brand-new A4 platform, the new concept gets a 2.0L four-cylinder common-rail direct-inject turbodiesel derived from the unit powering the Jetta TDI. That mill sees tweaks to its valvetrain and cooling systems, lowering its power output a bit to 120-horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque, but increasing its fuel efficiency a great deal. <br /><br />Added to the powertrain is a start/stop system that keeps the engine from idling when not needed and regenerative braking, which charges a secondary battery that keeps all your goodies running while the engine's off. The engine has also had its efficiency-robbing power steering pump removed and the rear brakes are now electrically actuated as well. All of this, plus many other small details, adds up to a remarkable 59 miles per U.S. gallon in EU combined testing! Its 10.5 second run to 60 won't win any drag races, but considering the cost of fuel and pending eco-legislation in the world's largest markets, we'd imagine that the technologies on this car will go from concept to production in short order.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-a4-tdi-concept-e-2">Audi A4 TDI concept e</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-a4-tdi-concept-e-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/00_audia4e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-a4-tdi-concept-e-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_audia4e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-a4-tdi-concept-e-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/02_audia4e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-a4-tdi-concept-e-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/03_audia4e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-a4-tdi-concept-e-2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/04_audia4e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/02/paris-2008-audi-unveils-59-mpg-a4-tdi-concept-e/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Paris 2008: Audi unveils 59-mpg A4 TDI concept e</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/02/paris-2008-audi-unveils-59-mpg-a4-tdi-concept-e/">Paris 2008: Audi unveils 59-mpg A4 TDI concept e</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 02 Oct 2008 10:59:00 EST.
